5 To hearken8085 to5921 the words1697 of my servants5650 the prophets,5030 whom834 I595 sent7971 unto413 you, both rising up early,7925 and sending7971 them, but ye have not3808 hearkened;8085

6 Then will I make5414 853 this2088 house1004 like Shiloh,7887 and will make5414 this2063 city5892 a curse7045 to all3605 the nations1471 of the earth.776

7 So the priests3548 and the prophets5030 and all3605 the people5971 heard8085 853 Jeremiah3414 speaking1696 853 these428 words1697 in the house1004 of the LORD.3068

8 Now it came to pass,1961 when Jeremiah3414 had made an end3615 of speaking1696 853 all3605 that834 the LORD3068 had commanded6680 him to speak1696 unto413 all3605 the people,5971 that the priests3548 and the prophets5030 and all3605 the people5971 took8610 him, saying,559 Thou shalt surely die.4191 4191

9 Why4069 hast thou prophesied5012 in the name8034 of the LORD,3068 saying,559 This2088 house1004 shall be1961 like Shiloh,7887 and this2063 city5892 shall be desolate2717 without4480 369 an inhabitant?3427 And all3605 the people5971 were gathered6950 against413 Jeremiah3414 in the house1004 of the LORD.3068

10 When the princes8269 of Judah3063 heard8085 853 these428 things,1697 then they came up5927 from the king's4428 house4480 1004 unto the house1004 of the LORD,3068 and sat down3427 in the entry6607 of the new2319 gate8179 of the LORD's3068 house.

11 Then spoke559 the priests3548 and the prophets5030 unto413 the princes8269 and to413 all3605 the people,5971 saying,559 This2088 man376 is worthy4941 to die;4194 for3588 he hath prophesied5012 against413 this2063 city,5892 as834 ye have heard8085 with your ears.241

12 Then spoke559 Jeremiah3414 unto413 all3605 the princes8269 and to413 all3605 the people,5971 saying,559 The LORD3068 sent7971 me to prophesy5012 against413 this2088 house1004 and against413 this2063 city5892 all3605 the words1697 that834 ye have heard.8085

13 Therefore now6258 amend3190 your ways1870 and your doings,4611 and obey8085 the voice6963 of the LORD3068 your God;430 and the LORD3068 will repent5162 him of413 the evil7451 that834 he hath pronounced1696 against5921 you.

14 As for me,589 behold,2009 I am in your hand:3027 do6213 with me as seemeth5869 good2896 and meet3477 unto you.

15 But389 know ye for certain,3045 3045 that3588 if518 ye859 put me to death,4191 853 ye859 shall surely3588 bring5414 innocent5355 blood1818 upon5921 yourselves, and upon413 this2063 city,5892 and upon413 the inhabitants3427 thereof: for3588 of a truth571 the LORD3068 hath sent7971 me unto5921 you to speak1696 853 all3605 these428 words1697 in your ears.241

16 Then said559 the princes8269 and all3605 the people5971 unto413 the priests3548 and to413 the prophets;5030 This2088 man376 is not369 worthy4941 to die:4194 for3588 he hath spoken1696 to413 us in the name8034 of the LORD3068 our God.430

17 Then rose up6965 certain376 of the elders4480 2205 of the land,776 and spoke559 to413 all3605 the assembly6951 of the people,5971 saying,559

18 Micah4320 the Morasthite4183 prophesied1961 5012 in the days3117 of Hezekiah2396 king4428 of Judah,3063 and spoke559 to413 all3605 the people5971 of Judah,3063 saying,559 Thus3541 saith559 the LORD3068 of hosts;6635 Zion6726 shall be plowed2790 like a field,7704 and Jerusalem3389 shall become1961 heaps,5856 and the mountain2022 of the house1004 as the high places1116 of a forest.3293

19 Did Hezekiah2396 king4428 of Judah3063 and all3605 Judah3063 put him at all to death?4191 4191 did he not3808 fear3372 853 the LORD,3068 and besought2470 853 6440 the LORD,3068 and the LORD3068 repented5162 him of413 the evil7451 which834 he had pronounced1696 against5921 them? Thus might we587 procure6213 great1419 evil7451 against5921 our souls.5315

20 And there was1961 also1571 a man376 that prophesied5012 in the name8034 of the LORD,3068 Urijah223 the son1121 of Shemaiah8098 of Kirjath-jearim,4480 7157 who prophesied5012 against5921 this2063 city5892 and against5921 this2063 land776 according to all3605 the words1697 of Jeremiah: 3414

21 And when Jehoiakim3079 the king,4428 with all3605 his mighty men,1368 and all3605 the princes,8269 heard8085 853 his words,1697 the king4428 sought1245 to put him to death:4191 but when Urijah223 heard8085 it, he was afraid,3372 and fled,1272 and went into935 Egypt;4714

22 And Jehoiakim3079 the king4428 sent7971 men376 into Egypt,4714 namely,853 Elnathan494 the son1121 of Achbor,5907 and certain men376 with854 him into413 Egypt.4714

23 And they fetched forth3318 853 Urijah223 out of Egypt,4480 4714 and brought935 him unto413 Jehoiakim3079 the king;4428 who slew5221 him with the sword,2719 and cast7993 853 his dead body5038 into413 the graves6913 of the common1121 people.5971

24 Nevertheless389 the hand3027 of Ahikam296 the son1121 of Shaphan8227 was1961 with854 Jeremiah,3414 that they should not1115 give5414 him into the hand3027 of the people5971 to put him to death.4191

2 Thus says the LORD: Stand in the court of the LORD'S house and speak to all the cities of Judah which come to worship in the house of the LORD all the words that I commanded you to speak to them; omit not a word:

3 Perhaps they will listen and turn every man from his evil way, so that I may cease from the harm which I purpose to do to them because of their evil doings.

4 And you shall say to them, Thus says the LORD: If you will not listen to me, to walk in my law which I have set before you

5 And to hearken to the words of my servants the prophets whom I have sent to you, warning you in advance, but you have not hearkened;

6 Then I will make this house like Shiloh and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.

7 So the priests and the false prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the LORD.

8 Now it came to pass when Jeremiah had finished speaking all that the LORD had commanded him to speak to all the people, then the priests and the false prophets and all the people seized him, saying,

9 He shall surely be put to death, for he has prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate without an inhabitant. And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.

10 When the princes of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king's house to the house of the LORD and sat down in the entry of the new gate of the LORD'S house.

11 Then the priests and the false prophets spoke to the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is guilty of death; for he has prophesied against this city and against its inhabitants, as you have heard with your ears.

12 Then Jeremiah spoke to all the princes and to all the people, saying, The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard.

13 Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will cease from the evil which he has pronounced against you.

14 As for me, behold, I am in your hands; do with me as it seems right and proper to you.

15 But you must know for certain that if you put me to death, you shall surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves and upon this city and upon its inhabitants; for of a truth the LORD has sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears.

16 Then the princes and all the people said to the priests and to the false prophets, This man is not guilty of death; for he has spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God.

17 Then rose up certain of the elders of the land, and spoke to all the assembly of the people, saying,

18 Micah the Morashite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and said to all the people of Judah, Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the temple like a forest.

19 Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death? No, but they feared the LORD and prayed before him, and the LORD refrained from the evil which he had pronounced against them. And now, we wish to bring great evil upon ourselves.

20 And there was also another man who prophesied in the name of the LORD, Uriah the son of Shemaiah from Koriath-narin, who prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah;

21 And when Jehoiakim the king, with all his servants and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death; but when Uriah heard of it, he was afraid; so he fled and went to Egypt;

22 And King Jehoiakim sent a certain Egyptian, namely, Eliathan the son of Achbor, and certain other men with him to Egypt.

23 And they fetched Uriah from Egypt, and brought him to King Jehoiakim; who slew him with the sword, and cast his dead body into the burial place of the common people.

24 Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, so that they might not deliver him into the hand of the people to put him to death.

10 When the princes8269 of Judah3063 heard8085 853 these428 things,1697 then they came up5927 from the king's4428 house4480 1004 unto the house1004 of the LORD,3068 and sat down3427 in the entry6607 of the new2319 gate8179 of the LORD's3068 house.
