1 And it came1961 to pass in the fourth7243 year8141 of Jehoiakim3079 the son1121 of Josiah2977 king4428 of Judah,3063 that this2088 word1697 came1961 to Jeremiah3414 from the LORD,3068 saying,559

2 Take3947 you a roll4039 of a book,5612 and write3789 therein413 all3605 the words1697 that I have spoken1696 to you against5921 Israel,3478 and against5921 Judah,3063 and against5921 all3605 the nations,1471 from the day3117 I spoke1696 to you, from the days3117 of Josiah,2977 even to this2088 day.3117

3 It may be that the house1004 of Judah3063 will hear8085 all3605 the evil7451 which834 I purpose2803 to do6213 to them; that they may return7725 every man376 from his evil7451 way;1870 that I may forgive5545 their iniquity5771 and their sin.2403

4 Then Jeremiah3414 called7121 Baruch1263 the son1121 of Neriah:5374 and Baruch1263 wrote3789 from the mouth6310 of Jeremiah3414 all3605 the words1697 of the LORD,3068 which834 he had spoken1696 to him, on a roll4039 of a book.5612

5 And Jeremiah3414 commanded6680 Baruch,1263 saying,559 I am shut6113 up; I cannot3808 3201 go935 into the house1004 of the LORD:3068

6 Therefore go935 you, and read7121 in the roll,4039 which834 you have written3789 from my mouth,6310 the words1697 of the LORD3068 in the ears241 of the people5971 in the LORD's3068 house1004 on the fasting6685 day:3117 and also1571 you shall read7121 them in the ears241 of all3605 Judah3063 that come935 out of their cities.5892

7 It may be they will present5307 their supplication8467 before6440 the LORD,3068 and will return7725 every376 one from his evil7451 way:1870 for great1419 is the anger639 and the fury2534 that the LORD3068 has pronounced1696 against413 this2088 people.5971

8 And Baruch1263 the son1121 of Neriah5374 did6213 according to all3605 that Jeremiah3414 the prophet5030 commanded6680 him, reading7121 in the book5612 the words1697 of the LORD3068 in the LORD's3068 house.1004

9 And it came1961 to pass in the fifth2549 year8141 of Jehoiakim3079 the son1121 of Josiah2977 king4428 of Judah,3063 in the ninth8671 month,2320 that they proclaimed7121 a fast6685 before6440 the LORD3068 to all3605 the people5971 in Jerusalem,3389 and to all3605 the people5971 that came935 from the cities5892 of Judah3063 to Jerusalem.3389

10 Then read7121 Baruch1263 in the book5612 the words1697 of Jeremiah3414 in the house1004 of the LORD,3068 in the chamber3957 of Gemariah1587 the son1121 of Shaphan8227 the scribe,5608 in the higher5945 court,2691 at the entry6607 of the new2319 gate8179 of the LORD's3068 house,1004 in the ears241 of all3605 the people.5971

11 When Michaiah4321 the son1121 of Gemariah,1587 the son1121 of Shaphan,8227 had heard8085 out of the book5612 all3605 the words1697 of the LORD,3068

12 Then he went3381 down3381 into the king's4428 house,1004 into5921 the scribe's5608 chamber:3957 and, see,2009 all3605 the princes8269 sat3427 there,8033 even Elishama476 the scribe,5608 and Delaiah1806 the son1121 of Shemaiah,8098 and Elnathan494 the son1121 of Achbor,5907 and Gemariah1587 the son1121 of Shaphan,8227 and Zedekiah6667 the son1121 of Hananiah,2608 and all3605 the princes.8269

13 Then Michaiah4321 declared5046 to them all3605 the words1697 that he had heard,8085 when Baruch1263 read7121 the book5612 in the ears241 of the people.5971

14 Therefore all3605 the princes8269 sent7971 Jehudi3065 the son1121 of Nethaniah,5418 the son1121 of Shelemiah,8018 the son1121 of Cushi,3569 to Baruch,1263 saying,559 Take3947 in your hand3027 the roll4039 wherein834 you have read7121 in the ears241 of the people,5971 and come.3212 So Baruch1263 the son1121 of Neriah5374 took3947 the roll4039 in his hand,3027 and came935 to them.

15 And they said559 to him, Sit3427 down now,4994 and read7121 it in our ears.241 So Baruch1263 read7121 it in their ears.241

16 Now it came1961 to pass, when they had heard8085 all3605 the words,1697 they were afraid6342 both413 one376 and other,7453 and said559 to Baruch,1263 We will surely tell5046 the king4428 of all3605 these428 words.1697

17 And they asked7592 Baruch,1263 saying,559 Tell5046 us now,4994 How349 did you write3789 all3605 these428 words1697 at his mouth?6310

18 Then Baruch1263 answered559 them, He pronounced7126 all3605 these428 words1697 to me with his mouth,6310 and I wrote3789 them with ink1773 in the book.5612

19 Then said559 the princes8269 to Baruch,1263 Go,3212 hide5641 you, you and Jeremiah;3414 and let no408 man376 know3045 where375 you be.

20 And they went935 in to the king4428 into the court,2691 but they laid6485 up the roll4039 in the chamber3957 of Elishama476 the scribe,5608 and told5046 all3605 the words1697 in the ears241 of the king.4428

21 So the king4428 sent7971 Jehudi3065 to fetch3947 the roll:4039 and he took3947 it out of Elishama476 the scribe's5608 chamber.3957 And Jehudi3065 read7121 it in the ears241 of the king,4428 and in the ears241 of all3605 the princes8269 which stood5975 beside5921 the king.4428

22 Now the king4428 sat3427 in the winter house2779 in the ninth8671 month:2320 and there was a fire on the hearth254 burning1197 before6440 him.

23 And it came1961 to pass, that when Jehudi3065 had read7121 three7969 or four702 leaves,1817 he cut7167 it with the penknife,8593 and cast7993 it into413 the fire784 that was on413 the hearth,254 until5704 all3605 the roll4039 was consumed8552 in the fire784 that was on5921 the hearth.254

24 Yet they were not afraid,6342 nor3808 rent7167 their garments,899 neither the king,4428 nor any3605 of his servants5650 that heard8085 all3605 these428 words.1697

25 Nevertheless1571 Elnathan494 and Delaiah1806 and Gemariah1587 had made intercession6293 to the king4428 that he would not burn8313 the roll:4039 but he would not hear8085 them.

26 But the king4428 commanded6680 Jerahmeel3396 the son1121 of Hammelech,4429 and Seraiah8304 the son1121 of Azriel,5837 and Shelemiah8018 the son1121 of Abdeel,5655 to take3947 Baruch1263 the scribe5608 and Jeremiah3414 the prophet:5030 but the LORD3068 hid5641 them.

27 Then the word1697 of the LORD3068 came1961 to Jeremiah,3414 after310 that the king4428 had burned8313 the roll,4039 and the words1697 which834 Baruch1263 wrote3789 at the mouth6310 of Jeremiah,3414 saying,559

28 Take3947 you again7725 another312 roll,4039 and write3789 in it all3605 the former7223 words1697 that were in the first7223 roll,4039 which834 Jehoiakim3079 the king4428 of Judah3063 has burned.8313

29 And you shall say559 to Jehoiakim3079 king4428 of Judah,3063 Thus3541 said559 the LORD;3068 You have burned8313 this2063 roll,4039 saying,559 Why4069 have you written3789 therein,5921 saying,559 The king4428 of Babylon894 shall certainly come935 and destroy7843 this2063 land,776 and shall cause to cease7673 from there man120 and beast?929

30 Therefore3651 thus3541 said559 the LORD3068 of Jehoiakim3079 king4428 of Judah;3063 He shall have1961 none3808 to sit3427 on the throne3678 of David:1732 and his dead5038 body5038 shall be cast7993 out in the day3117 to the heat,2721 and in the night3915 to the frost.7140

31 And I will punish6485 him and his seed2233 and his servants5650 for their iniquity;5771 and I will bring935 on them, and on the inhabitants3427 of Jerusalem,3389 and on the men376 of Judah,3063 all3605 the evil7451 that I have pronounced1696 against413 them; but they listened8085 not.

32 Then took3947 Jeremiah3414 another312 roll,4039 and gave5414 it to Baruch1263 the scribe,5608 the son1121 of Neriah;5374 who wrote3789 therein5921 from the mouth6310 of Jeremiah3414 all3605 the words1697 of the book5612 which834 Jehoiakim3079 king4428 of Judah3063 had burned8313 in the fire:784 and there were added3254 besides5750 to them many7227 like words.1697

1 І сталося четвертого року Єгоякима, Йосіїного сина, царя Юдиного, було оце слово до Єремії від Господа, кажучи:

2 „Візьми собі книжко́вого зво́я, і напиши на ньому всі ті слова, що Я говорив тобі про Ізраїля й про Юду, та про всі наро́ди від дня, коли Я почав говорити тобі, від днів Йосії та аж до цього дня.

3 Може почує дім Юдин усе те зло, що Я ду́маю вчинити їм, щоб верну́лися кожен зо своєї злої дороги, а Я прощу́ їхню провину та їхній гріх“.

4 І покликав Єремія Бару́ха, Нерійїного сина, і Бару́х написав з уст Єремії всі Господні слова́, що Він говорив йому, на книжко́вий звій.

5 І наказав Єремія Барухові, кажучи: „Я задержаний, — не мо́жу ввійти до Господнього дому.

6 Тому́ піди сам, прочитай зо зво́ю, що написав ти з моїх уст, Господні слова́ в ву́ха народу в Господньому домі в дні по́сту, а також в ву́ха всього Юди, що прихо́дить зо своїх міст, відчитаєш їх.

7 Може впаде́ їхнє блага́ння перед Господнє лице́, і вони ве́рнуться кожен зо своєї злої дороги, бо великий гнів та лютість, що Господь говорив проти наро́ду цього!“

8 І зробив Бару́х, син Нерійїн, усе, що наказав був йому пророк Єремія, щоб прочитати з книги Господні слова́ в Господньому домі.

9 І сталося п'ятого року Єгоякима, Йосіїного сина, царя Юдиного, дев'ятого місяця, оголосили піст перед Господнім лицем для всього наро́ду в Єрусалимі та для всьо́го того наро́ду, що поприхо́див з Юдиних міст до Єрусалиму.

10 І прочитав Барух з книги Єреміїні слова́ в домі Господньому в кімна́ті писаря Ґемарії, Шафанового сина, на горі́шньому подвір'ї, при вході до ново́ї брами Господнього дому, в ву́ха всього наро́ду.

11 І почув Михей, син Ґемарії, Шафанового сина, всі Господні слова́ з книги,

12 і зійшов до царсько́го дому, до кімна́ти писаря, аж ось там сидять усі зверхники: писар Елішама, і Делая, син Шемаїн, і Елнатан, син Ахборів, і Ґемарія, син Шафанів, і Седекі́я, син Хананії, і всі зверхники.

13 І розповів їм Михей всі ті слова́, які він почув був, коли Барух читав із книги в ву́ха наро́ду.

14 І всі зверхники послали до Баруха Єгудія, сина Нетанії, сина Шелемії, сина Кушіїного, говорячи: „Того зво́я, що читав ти з нього в ву́ха народу, візьми́ його в свою руку та й прийди́!“ І взяв Барух, син Нерійїн, звоя в свою руку та й прийшов до них.

15 А ті сказали до нього: „Сідай же, і прочитай його в наші ву́ха!“ І прочитав Барух в їхні ву́ха.

16 І сталося, коли вони почули всі ці слова, жахну́лися один перед о́дним, та й сказали Барухові: „Конче перекажімо царе́ві всі ці слова́!“

17 І запитали вони Баруха, говорячи: „Розкажи нам, як ти писав усі ці слова́ з його уст?“

18 І сказав їм Барух: „Він проказував мені з своїх уст усі ці слова́, а я писав у книзі чорнилом“.

19 І сказали зверхники до Баруха: „Іди, сховайся, ти та Єремія, і нехай ніхто не знає, де́ ви!“

20 І прийшли вони до царя на подві́р'я, а зво́я поклали в кімна́ті писаря Елішами, і розповіли́ в ву́ха царя всі ті слова.

21 І послав цар Єгудія взяти зво́я, і той узяв його з кімна́ти писаря Елішами. І Єгудій прочитав його в ву́ха царя та в ву́ха всіх зверхників, що стояли при царі.

22 А цар сидів у зимо́вому домі, дев'ятого місяця, і перед ним був розпа́лений комино́к.

23 І сталося, коли Єгудій перечи́тував три чи чотири стовпці́, то цар відрізував це пи́сарським ноже́м та й ки́дав до огню́, що в коминку́, аж поки не згорів увесь звій на огні, що в коминку́.

24 Та не злякалися й не роздерли своїх шат цар та всі його раби, що слухали всі ці слова́.

25 І хоч Елнатан, і Делая, і Ґемарія просили царя не палити того зво́ю, та не послухався він їх.

26 І наказав цар Єрахмеїлові, синові царе́вому, і Сераї, синові Азріїловому, і Шелемії, синові Авдіїловому, взяти писаря Баруха й пророка Єремію, та Господь їх сховав.

27 І було Господнє слово до Єремії пото́му, як цар спалив був зво́я та ті слова́, що Барух написав з Єреміїних уст, говорячи:

28 „Візьми собі зно́ву іншого зво́я, і напиши на ньому всі перші слова́, що були на першому зво́ї, якого спалив Єгояким, цар Юдин.

29 А про Єгоякима, царя Юдиного, скажеш: Так говорить Господь: Ти спалив цього зво́я, говорячи: На́що написав ти на ньому таке: Конче при́йде цар вавилонський і знищить оцей край, і ви́губить в ньому люди́ну й скотину.

30 Тому́ так говорить Господь про Єгоякима, Юдиного царя: Не буде від нього сидячого на Давидовому троні, а його труп буде ки́нений на спеко́ту вдень та на холод вночі.

31 І навіщу́ його та насіння його, і його рабів за їхні провини, і спрова́джу на них та на ме́шканців Єрусалиму й на юде́янина все те зло, що Я говорив до них, та вони не послухали“.

32 І Єремія взяв іншого зво́я, і дав його пи́сареві Барухові, синові Нерійїному, і той написав на ньому з Єреміїних уст усі слова тієї книги, яку спалив був Єгояким, цар Юдин, в огні, і до них було до́дано ще багато подібних слів.

2 „Візьми собі книжко́вого зво́я, і напиши на ньому всі ті слова, що Я говорив тобі про Ізраїля й про Юду, та про всі наро́ди від дня, коли Я почав говорити тобі, від днів Йосії та аж до цього дня.

8 І зробив Бару́х, син Нерійїн, усе, що наказав був йому пророк Єремія, щоб прочитати з книги Господні слова́ в Господньому домі.

10 І прочитав Барух з книги Єреміїні слова́ в домі Господньому в кімна́ті писаря Ґемарії, Шафанового сина, на горі́шньому подвір'ї, при вході до ново́ї брами Господнього дому, в ву́ха всього наро́ду.

14 І всі зверхники послали до Баруха Єгудія, сина Нетанії, сина Шелемії, сина Кушіїного, говорячи: „Того зво́я, що читав ти з нього в ву́ха народу, візьми́ його в свою руку та й прийди́!“ І взяв Барух, син Нерійїн, звоя в свою руку та й прийшов до них.

15 And they said559 to him, Sit3427 down now,4994 and read7121 it in our ears.241 So Baruch1263 read7121 it in their ears.241

15 А ті сказали до нього: „Сідай же, і прочитай його в наші ву́ха!“ І прочитав Барух в їхні ву́ха.

17 І запитали вони Баруха, говорячи: „Розкажи нам, як ти писав усі ці слова́ з його уст?“

21 So the king4428 sent7971 Jehudi3065 to fetch3947 the roll:4039 and he took3947 it out of Elishama476 the scribe's5608 chamber.3957 And Jehudi3065 read7121 it in the ears241 of the king,4428 and in the ears241 of all3605 the princes8269 which stood5975 beside5921 the king.4428

21 І послав цар Єгудія взяти зво́я, і той узяв його з кімна́ти писаря Елішами. І Єгудій прочитав його в ву́ха царя та в ву́ха всіх зверхників, що стояли при царі.

23 And it came1961 to pass, that when Jehudi3065 had read7121 three7969 or four702 leaves,1817 he cut7167 it with the penknife,8593 and cast7993 it into413 the fire784 that was on413 the hearth,254 until5704 all3605 the roll4039 was consumed8552 in the fire784 that was on5921 the hearth.254

23 І сталося, коли Єгудій перечи́тував три чи чотири стовпці́, то цар відрізував це пи́сарським ноже́м та й ки́дав до огню́, що в коминку́, аж поки не згорів увесь звій на огні, що в коминку́.

24 Yet they were not afraid,6342 nor3808 rent7167 their garments,899 neither the king,4428 nor any3605 of his servants5650 that heard8085 all3605 these428 words.1697

24 Та не злякалися й не роздерли своїх шат цар та всі його раби, що слухали всі ці слова́.

25 Nevertheless1571 Elnathan494 and Delaiah1806 and Gemariah1587 had made intercession6293 to the king4428 that he would not burn8313 the roll:4039 but he would not hear8085 them.

25 І хоч Елнатан, і Делая, і Ґемарія просили царя не палити того зво́ю, та не послухався він їх.

26 But the king4428 commanded6680 Jerahmeel3396 the son1121 of Hammelech,4429 and Seraiah8304 the son1121 of Azriel,5837 and Shelemiah8018 the son1121 of Abdeel,5655 to take3947 Baruch1263 the scribe5608 and Jeremiah3414 the prophet:5030 but the LORD3068 hid5641 them.

26 І наказав цар Єрахмеїлові, синові царе́вому, і Сераї, синові Азріїловому, і Шелемії, синові Авдіїловому, взяти писаря Баруха й пророка Єремію, та Господь їх сховав.

27 Then the word1697 of the LORD3068 came1961 to Jeremiah,3414 after310 that the king4428 had burned8313 the roll,4039 and the words1697 which834 Baruch1263 wrote3789 at the mouth6310 of Jeremiah,3414 saying,559

27 І було Господнє слово до Єремії пото́му, як цар спалив був зво́я та ті слова́, що Барух написав з Єреміїних уст, говорячи:

28 Take3947 you again7725 another312 roll,4039 and write3789 in it all3605 the former7223 words1697 that were in the first7223 roll,4039 which834 Jehoiakim3079 the king4428 of Judah3063 has burned.8313

28 „Візьми собі зно́ву іншого зво́я, і напиши на ньому всі перші слова́, що були на першому зво́ї, якого спалив Єгояким, цар Юдин.

29 And you shall say559 to Jehoiakim3079 king4428 of Judah,3063 Thus3541 said559 the LORD;3068 You have burned8313 this2063 roll,4039 saying,559 Why4069 have you written3789 therein,5921 saying,559 The king4428 of Babylon894 shall certainly come935 and destroy7843 this2063 land,776 and shall cause to cease7673 from there man120 and beast?929

29 А про Єгоякима, царя Юдиного, скажеш: Так говорить Господь: Ти спалив цього зво́я, говорячи: На́що написав ти на ньому таке: Конче при́йде цар вавилонський і знищить оцей край, і ви́губить в ньому люди́ну й скотину.

30 Therefore3651 thus3541 said559 the LORD3068 of Jehoiakim3079 king4428 of Judah;3063 He shall have1961 none3808 to sit3427 on the throne3678 of David:1732 and his dead5038 body5038 shall be cast7993 out in the day3117 to the heat,2721 and in the night3915 to the frost.7140

30 Тому́ так говорить Господь про Єгоякима, Юдиного царя: Не буде від нього сидячого на Давидовому троні, а його труп буде ки́нений на спеко́ту вдень та на холод вночі.

31 And I will punish6485 him and his seed2233 and his servants5650 for their iniquity;5771 and I will bring935 on them, and on the inhabitants3427 of Jerusalem,3389 and on the men376 of Judah,3063 all3605 the evil7451 that I have pronounced1696 against413 them; but they listened8085 not.

31 І навіщу́ його та насіння його, і його рабів за їхні провини, і спрова́джу на них та на ме́шканців Єрусалиму й на юде́янина все те зло, що Я говорив до них, та вони не послухали“.

32 Then took3947 Jeremiah3414 another312 roll,4039 and gave5414 it to Baruch1263 the scribe,5608 the son1121 of Neriah;5374 who wrote3789 therein5921 from the mouth6310 of Jeremiah3414 all3605 the words1697 of the book5612 which834 Jehoiakim3079 king4428 of Judah3063 had burned8313 in the fire:784 and there were added3254 besides5750 to them many7227 like words.1697

32 І Єремія взяв іншого зво́я, і дав його пи́сареві Барухові, синові Нерійїному, і той написав на ньому з Єреміїних уст усі слова тієї книги, яку спалив був Єгояким, цар Юдин, в огні, і до них було до́дано ще багато подібних слів.
