2 Only7535 that the generations1755 of the children1121 of Israel3478 might know,3045 to teach3925 them war,4421 at7535 the least7535 such as before6440 knew3045 nothing3808 thereof;

3 Namely, five2568 lords5633 of the Philistines,6430 and all3605 the Canaanites,3669 and the Sidonians,6722 and the Hivites2340 that dwelled3427 in mount2022 Lebanon,3844 from mount2022 Baalhermon1179 to the entering935 in of Hamath.2574

4 And they were to prove5254 Israel3478 by them, to know3045 whether they would listen8085 to the commandments4687 of the LORD,3068 which834 he commanded6680 their fathers1 by the hand3027 of Moses.4872

5 And the children1121 of Israel3478 dwelled3427 among7130 the Canaanites,3669 Hittites,2850 and Amorites,567 and Perizzites,6522 and Hivites,2340 and Jebusites:2983

6 And they took3947 their daughters1323 to be their wives,802 and gave5414 their daughters1323 to their sons,1121 and served5647 their gods.430

7 And the children1121 of Israel3478 did6213 evil7451 in the sight5869 of the LORD,3068 and forgot7911 the LORD3068 their God,430 and served5647 Baalim1168 and the groves.842

8 Therefore the anger639 of the LORD3068 was hot2734 against Israel,3478 and he sold4376 them into the hand3027 of Chushanrishathaim3573 king4428 of Mesopotamia:763 and the children1121 of Israel3478 served5647 Chushanrishathaim3573 eight8083 years.8141

9 And when the children1121 of Israel3478 cried2199 to the LORD,3068 the LORD3068 raised6965 up a deliverer3467 to the children1121 of Israel,3478 who delivered3467 them, even853 Othniel6274 the son1121 of Kenaz,7073 Caleb's3612 younger6996 brother.251

10 And the Spirit7307 of the LORD3068 came1961 on him, and he judged8199 Israel,3478 and went3318 out to war:4421 and the LORD3068 delivered5414 Chushanrishathaim3573 king4428 of Mesopotamia763 into his hand;3027 and his hand3027 prevailed5810 against5921 Chushanrishathaim.3573

11 And the land776 had rest8252 forty705 years.8141 And Othniel6274 the son1121 of Kenaz7073 died.4191

12 And the children1121 of Israel3478 did6213 evil7451 again3254 in the sight5869 of the LORD:3068 and the LORD3068 strengthened2388 Eglon5700 the king4428 of Moab4124 against5921 Israel,3478 because5921 3588 they had done6213 evil7451 in the sight5869 of the LORD.3068

13 And he gathered622 to him the children1121 of Ammon5983 and Amalek,6002 and went3212 and smote5221 Israel,3478 and possessed3423 the city5892 of palm8558 trees.

14 So the children1121 of Israel3478 served5647 Eglon5700 the king4428 of Moab4124 eighteen8083 6240 years.8141

15 But when the children1121 of Israel3478 cried2199 to the LORD,3068 the LORD3068 raised6965 them up a deliverer,3467 Ehud261 the son1121 of Gera,1617 a Benjamite,1145 a man376 left handed:334 3027 3225 and by him the c1121hildren of3478 Isra7971el sent a 4503present t5700o Eglon t4428he king o4124f Moab.

16 But Ehud261 made6213 him a dagger2719 which had two8147 edges,6366 of a cubit1574 length;753 and he did gird2296 it under8478 his raiment4055 on his right3225 thigh.3409

17 And he brought7126 the present4503 to Eglon5700 king4428 of Moab:4124 and Eglon5700 was a very3966 fat1277 man.376

18 And when834 he had made an end3615 to offer7126 the present,4503 he sent7971 away the people5971 that bore5375 the present.4503

19 But he himself1931 turned7725 again7725 from the quarries6456 that were by Gilgal,1537 and said,559 I have a secret5643 errand1697 to you, O king:4428 who said,559 Keep silence.2013 And all3605 that stood5975 by him went3318 out from him.

20 And Ehud261 came935 to him; and he was sitting3427 in a summer4747 parlor,5944 which834 he had for himself alone.905 And Ehud261 said,559 I have a message1697 from God430 to you. And he arose6965 out of his seat.3678

21 And Ehud261 put7971 forth7971 his left8040 hand,3027 and took3947 the dagger2719 from his right3225 thigh,3409 and thrust8628 it into his belly:990

22 And the haft5325 also1571 went935 in after310 the blade;3851 and the fat2459 closed5462 on the blade,3851 so3588 that he could not draw8025 the dagger2719 out of his belly;990 and the dirt6574 came3318 out.

23 Then Ehud261 went3318 forth3318 through the porch,4528 and shut5462 the doors1817 of the parlor5944 on him, and locked5274 them.

24 When he was gone3318 out, his servants5650 came;935 and when they saw7200 that, behold,2009 the doors1817 of the parlor5944 were locked,5274 they said,559 Surely389 he covers5526 his feet7272 in his summer4747 chamber.2315

25 And they tarried2342 till5704 they were ashamed:954 and, behold,2009 he opened6605 not the doors1817 of the parlor;5944 therefore they took3947 a key,4668 and opened6605 them: and, behold,2009 their lord113 was fallen5307 down dead4191 on the earth.776

26 And Ehud261 escaped4422 while5704 they tarried,4102 and passed5674 beyond5674 the quarries,6456 and escaped4422 to Seirath.8167

27 And it came1961 to pass, when he was come,935 that he blew8628 a trumpet7782 in the mountain2022 of Ephraim,669 and the children1121 of Israel3478 went3381 down3381 with him from the mount,2022 and he before6440 them.

28 And he said559 to them, Follow7291 after310 me: for the LORD3068 has delivered5414 your enemies341 the Moabites4124 into your hand.3027 And they went3381 down3381 after310 him, and took3920 the fords4569 of Jordan3383 toward Moab,4124 and suffered5414 not a man376 to pass5674 over.5674

29 And they slew5221 of Moab4124 at that time6256 about ten6235 thousand505 men,376 all3605 lusty,8082 and all3605 men376 of valor;2428 and there escaped4422 not a man.376

30 So Moab4124 was subdued3665 that day3117 under8478 the hand3027 of Israel.3478 And the land776 had rest8252 fourscore8084 years.8141

31 And after310 him was Shamgar8044 the son1121 of Anath,6067 which slew5221 of the Philistines6430 six8337 hundred3967 men376 with an ox1241 goad:4451 and he also1571 delivered3467 Israel.3478

И Господь не изгнал другие народы с Израильской земли, чтобы народ Израиля, который не участвовал в этих войнах, учился воевать. Вот имена народов, которых Господь оставил на этой земле:

8 Господь разгневался на Израиль и позволил Хусарсафему, царю Арама нахаримского, победить народ Израиля. И правил этот царь над израильтянами на протяжении восьми лет.

9 Тогда сыны Израиля стали молить Господа о помощи, и Господь послал к ним Гофониила, сына Кеназа, младшего брата Халевова, и он спас народ Израиля.

10 Дух Божий вселился в Гофониила, и он стал судьёй Израиля. Гофониил повёл народ Израиля на войну, и Господь помог ему одолеть Хусарсафема, царя арамского.

11 И земля жила в мире сорок лет, пока не умер Гофониил, сын Кеназа.

12 Господь увидел, что народ Израиля снова творит зло, и дал силу Еглону, царю моавскому, чтобы он разбил народ Израиля.

13 Еглон позвал с собой аммонитян и амаликитян, и они, объединившись, напали на Израиль, победили народ Израиля и изгнали его из города Пальм.

14 Еглон, моавский царь, правил восемнадцать лет.

15 И снова народ стал молить Господа о помощи. И послал Господь левшу Аода, сына Геры из рода Вениамина, спасти народ Израиля. Народ Израиля послал Аода отнести дань Еглону, царю моавскому.

16 Аод сделал себе обоюдоострый меч, длиной в один локоть, и привязал его под одеждой к правому бедру.

17 Затем Аод отправился с данью к Еглону, царю моавскому. (Еглон был человек очень тучный).

18 Аод и люди, пришедшие с ним, отдали деньги Еглону.

19 Когда Аод уже собрался уходить, то, проходя мимо идолов города Галгал, он повернулся и сказал: «Царь, я должен тебе сказать что-то по секрету». Царь приказал всем замолкнуть и отослал из комнаты всех своих слуг.

20 Аод пошёл к Еглону, который сидел один в верхней комнате своего дворца. Аод сказал: «У меня есть к тебе послание от Бога». Царь поднялся со своего трона и находился достаточно близко к Аоду.

21 В то время, когда Еглон вставал с трона, Аод левой рукой достал меч, привязанный к правому бедру, и вонзил его царю в живот.

22 Меч вошёл так глубоко, что не было видно даже рукояти, а внутренности царя вывалились наружу. Жир Еглона полностью прикрыл меч, и Аод оставил его там.

23 Аод вышел из комнаты и запер за собой двери.

24 Слуги вернулись сразу же после его ухода. Они увидели, что дверь заперта, и сказали: «Должно быть, царь закрылся, чтобы оправиться».

25 Они долго ждали и наконец встревожились. Они взяли ключ, открыли дверь и, войдя в комнату, увидели мёртвого царя, лежащего на полу.

29 Они убили около десяти тысяч здоровых и сильных моавитян, и никто из них не спасся.

30 Так в тот день народ Израиля покорил моавитян. И земля после этого жила мирно восемьдесят лет.

31 После того как Аод спас народ Израиля, ещё один человек спас Израиль. Это был Самегар, сын Анафа. Самегар воловьим рожном убил шестьсот филистимлян.

8 Господь разгневался на Израиль и позволил Хусарсафему, царю Арама нахаримского, победить народ Израиля. И правил этот царь над израильтянами на протяжении восьми лет.

9 And when the children1121 of Israel3478 cried2199 to the LORD,3068 the LORD3068 raised6965 up a deliverer3467 to the children1121 of Israel,3478 who delivered3467 them, even853 Othniel6274 the son1121 of Kenaz,7073 Caleb's3612 younger6996 brother.251

9 Тогда сыны Израиля стали молить Господа о помощи, и Господь послал к ним Гофониила, сына Кеназа, младшего брата Халевова, и он спас народ Израиля.

10 Дух Божий вселился в Гофониила, и он стал судьёй Израиля. Гофониил повёл народ Израиля на войну, и Господь помог ему одолеть Хусарсафема, царя арамского.

11 И земля жила в мире сорок лет, пока не умер Гофониил, сын Кеназа.

12 And the children1121 of Israel3478 did6213 evil7451 again3254 in the sight5869 of the LORD:3068 and the LORD3068 strengthened2388 Eglon5700 the king4428 of Moab4124 against5921 Israel,3478 because5921 3588 they had done6213 evil7451 in the sight5869 of the LORD.3068

12 Господь увидел, что народ Израиля снова творит зло, и дал силу Еглону, царю моавскому, чтобы он разбил народ Израиля.

13 And he gathered622 to him the children1121 of Ammon5983 and Amalek,6002 and went3212 and smote5221 Israel,3478 and possessed3423 the city5892 of palm8558 trees.

15 И снова народ стал молить Господа о помощи. И послал Господь левшу Аода, сына Геры из рода Вениамина, спасти народ Израиля. Народ Израиля послал Аода отнести дань Еглону, царю моавскому.

16 Аод сделал себе обоюдоострый меч, длиной в один локоть, и привязал его под одеждой к правому бедру.

28 And he said559 to them, Follow7291 after310 me: for the LORD3068 has delivered5414 your enemies341 the Moabites4124 into your hand.3027 And they went3381 down3381 after310 him, and took3920 the fords4569 of Jordan3383 toward Moab,4124 and suffered5414 not a man376 to pass5674 over.5674

28 Аод сказал им: «Идите за мной! Господь помог нам победить наших врагов, моавитян». И народ пошёл за Аодом. Израильтяне спустились с ним и захватили переправу через реку Иордан к Моавской земле, и не давали никому переходить через неё.

29 And they slew5221 of Moab4124 at that time6256 about ten6235 thousand505 men,376 all3605 lusty,8082 and all3605 men376 of valor;2428 and there escaped4422 not a man.376

29 Они убили около десяти тысяч здоровых и сильных моавитян, и никто из них не спасся.

31 После того как Аод спас народ Израиля, ещё один человек спас Израиль. Это был Самегар, сын Анафа. Самегар воловьим рожном убил шестьсот филистимлян.
