1 Now it came1961 to pass in the seventh7637 month,2320 that Ishmael3458 the son1121 of Nethaniah5418 the son1121 of Elishama,476 of the seed2233 royal,4410 and the princes7227 of the king,4428 even ten6235 men582 with him, came935 to Gedaliah1436 the son1121 of Ahikam296 to Mizpah;4709 and there8033 they did eat398 bread3899 together3162 in Mizpah.4709

2 Then arose6965 Ishmael3458 the son1121 of Nethaniah,5418 and the ten6235 men582 that were with him, and smote5221 Gedaliah1436 the son1121 of Ahikam296 the son1121 of Shaphan8227 with the sword,2719 and slew4191 him, whom834 the king4428 of Babylon894 had made governor6485 over the land.776

3 Ishmael3458 also slew5221 all3605 the Jews3064 that were with him, even with Gedaliah,1436 at Mizpah,4709 and the Chaldeans3778 that were found4672 there,8033 and the men582 of war.4421

4 And it came1961 to pass the second8145 day3117 after he had slain4191 Gedaliah,1436 and no3808 man376 knew3045 it,

5 That there came935 certain582 from Shechem,7927 from Shiloh,7887 and from Samaria,8111 even fourscore8084 men,376 having their beards2206 shaven,1548 and their clothes899 rent,7167 and having cut1413 themselves, with offerings4503 and incense3828 in their hand,3027 to bring935 them to the house1004 of the LORD.3068

6 And Ishmael3458 the son1121 of Nethaniah5418 went3318 forth3318 from Mizpah4709 to meet7125 them, weeping1058 all along1980 as he went:1980 and it came1961 to pass, as he met6298 them, he said559 to them, Come935 to Gedaliah1436 the son1121 of Ahikam.296

7 And it was so, when they came935 into413 the middle8432 of the city,5892 that Ishmael3458 the son1121 of Nethaniah5418 slew7819 them, and cast them into413 the middle8432 of the pit,953 he, and the men582 that were with him.

8 But ten6235 men582 were found4672 among them that said559 to Ishmael,3458 Slay4191 us not: for we have3426 treasures4301 in the field,7704 of wheat,2406 and of barley,8184 and of oil,8081 and of honey.1706 So he declined,2308 and slew4191 them not among8432 their brothers.251

9 Now the pit953 wherein834 Ishmael3458 had cast7993 all3605 the dead6297 bodies6297 of the men,582 whom834 he had slain5221 because3027 of Gedaliah,1436 was it which834 Asa609 the king4428 had made6213 for fear6440 of Baasha1201 king4428 of Israel:3478 and Ishmael3458 the son1121 of Nethaniah5418 filled4390 it with them that were slain.2491

10 Then Ishmael3458 carried7617 away captive7617 all3605 the residue7611 of the people5971 that were in Mizpah,4709 even853 the king's4428 daughters,1323 and all3605 the people5971 that remained7604 in Mizpah,4709 whom834 Nebuzaradan5018 the captain7227 of the guard2876 had committed6485 to Gedaliah1436 the son1121 of Ahikam:296 and Ishmael3458 the son1121 of Nethaniah5418 carried7617 them away captive,7617 and departed3212 to go5674 over5674 to the Ammonites.5984

11 But when Johanan3110 the son1121 of Kareah,7143 and all3605 the captains8269 of the forces2428 that were with him, heard8085 of all3605 the evil7451 that Ishmael3458 the son1121 of Nethaniah5418 had done,6213

12 Then they took3947 all3605 the men,582 and went3212 to fight3898 with Ishmael3458 the son1121 of Nethaniah,5418 and found4672 him by the great7227 waters4325 that are in Gibeon.1391

13 Now it came1961 to pass, that when all3605 the people5971 which834 were with Ishmael3458 saw7200 Johanan3110 the son1121 of Kareah,7143 and all3605 the captains8269 of the forces2428 that were with him, then they were glad.8056

14 So all3605 the people5971 that Ishmael3458 had carried7617 away captive7617 from Mizpah4709 cast5437 about5437 and returned,7725 and went3212 to Johanan3110 the son1121 of Kareah.7143

15 But Ishmael3458 the son1121 of Nethaniah5418 escaped4422 from Johanan3110 with eight8083 men,582 and went3212 to the Ammonites.5984

16 Then took3947 Johanan3110 the son1121 of Kareah,7143 and all3605 the captains8269 of the forces2428 that were with him, all3605 the remnant7611 of the people5971 whom834 he had recovered7725 from Ishmael3458 the son1121 of Nethaniah,5418 from Mizpah,4709 after310 that he had slain5221 Gedaliah1436 the son1121 of Ahikam,296 even mighty1397 men582 of war,4421 and the women,802 and the children,2945 and the eunuchs,5631 whom834 he had brought7725 again7725 from Gibeon:1391

17 And they departed,3212 and dwelled3427 in the habitation1628 of Chimham,3643 which834 is by Bethlehem,1035 to go3212 to enter935 into Egypt,4714

18 Because6440 of the Chaldeans:3778 for they were afraid3372 of them, because3588 Ishmael3458 the son1121 of Nethaniah5418 had slain5221 Gedaliah1436 the son1121 of Ahikam,296 whom834 the king4428 of Babylon894 made governor6485 in the land.776

1 Измаил, сын Нефании, сын Елишамы, был родом из царской семьи. В седьмой месяц Измаил, один из командиров царя Иудеи и десять преданных ему людей пришли в Мицфу к Годолии, сыну Ахикама. Измаил со своими людьми ел вместе с Годолией.

2 Во время этой трапезы Измаил и его люди встали и зарубили мечами Годолию, сына Ахикама, который был губернатором Иудеи.

3 Измаил также убил всех иудеев и вавилонских солдат, находившихся вместе с Годолией в Мицфе.

4 Через день после убийства Годолии в Мицфу пришли восемьдесят человек, которые принесли в храм Господа хлебные жертвы и благовонное курение. Эти восемьдесят человек сбрили себе бороды, изорвали на себе одежду и изрезали себя. Они пришли из Сихема, Силома и Самарии, и никто из них не знал, что Годолия уже убит.

6 Когда Измаил вышел из Мицфы навстречу этим людям, он, со слезами на глазах, обратился к ним: «Идите со мной и встретьтесь с Годолией».
