Chapter 3

1 Finally,3063 my brothers,80 rejoice5463 in the Lord.2962 To write1125 the same846 things to you, to me indeed3303 is not grievous,3636 but for you it is safe.804

2 Beware991 of dogs,2965 beware991 of evil2556 workers,2040 beware991 of the concision.2699

3 For we are the circumcision,4061 which3588 worship3000 God2316 in the spirit,4151 and rejoice2744 in Christ5547 Jesus,2424 and have no3756 confidence3982 in the flesh.4561

4 Though2539 I might also2532 have2192 confidence4006 in the flesh.4561 If1487 any1536 other243 man thinks1380 that he has whereof he might trust3982 in the flesh,4561 I more:3123

5 Circumcised4061 the eighth3637 day,2250 of the stock1085 of Israel,2474 of the tribe5443 of Benjamin,958 an Hebrew1446 of the Hebrews;1445 as touching2596 the law,3551 a Pharisee;5330

6 Concerning2596 zeal,2205 persecuting1377 the church;1577 touching2596 the righteousness1343 which3588 is in the law,3551 blameless.273

7 But what3748 things were gain2771 to me, those5023 I counted2233 loss2209 for Christ.5547

8 Yes235 doubtless,3304 and I count2233 all3956 things but loss2209 for the excellency5242 of the knowledge1108 of Christ5547 Jesus2424 my Lord:2962 for whom3739 I have2192 suffered2210 the loss2210 of all3956 things, and do count2233 them but dung,4657 that I may win2770 Christ,5547

9 And be found2147 in him, not having2192 my1699 own1699 righteousness,1343 which3588 is of the law,3551 but that which3588 is through1223 the faith4102 of Christ,5547 the righteousness1343 which3588 is of God2316 by faith:4102

10 That I may know1097 him, and the power1411 of his resurrection,386 and the fellowship2842 of his sufferings,3804 being made4832 conformable4832 to his death;2288

11 If1513 by any4458 means4458 I might attain2658 to the resurrection1815 of the dead.3498

12 Not as though3754 I had already2235 attained,2983 either2228 were already2235 perfect:5048 but I follow1377 after, if1499 that I may apprehend2638 that for which3739 also2532 I am apprehended2638 of Christ5547 Jesus.2424

13 Brothers,80 I count3049 not myself to have apprehended:2638 but this one1520 thing1520 I do, forgetting1950 those3588 things which are behind,3694 and reaching1901 forth1901 to those3588 things which are before,1715

14 I press1377 toward2596 the mark4649 for the prize1017 of the high507 calling2821 of God2316 in Christ5547 Jesus.2424

15 Let us therefore,3767 as many3745 as be perfect,5046 be thus5124 minded:5426 and if1487 in any1536 thing you be otherwise2088 minded,5426 God2316 shall reveal601 even2532 this5124 to you.

16 Nevertheless,4133 whereto1519 3739 we have already5348 attained,5348 let us walk4748 by the same846 rule,2583 let us mind5426 the same846 thing.

17 Brothers,80 be followers4831 together4831 of me, and mark4648 them which walk4043 so3779 as you have2192 us for an ensample.5179

18 (For many4183 walk,4043 of whom3739 I have2192 told3004 you often,3740 and now3568 tell3004 you even2532 weeping,2799 that they are the enemies2190 of the cross4716 of Christ:5547

19 Whose3739 end5056 is destruction,684 whose3739 God2316 is their belly,2836 and whose3588 glory1391 is in their shame,152 who3588 mind5426 earthly1919 things.)

20 For our conversation4175 is in heaven;3772 from where3739 also2532 we look553 for the Savior,4990 the Lord2962 Jesus2424 Christ:5547

21 Who shall change3345 our vile5014 body,4983 that it may be fashioned4832 like4832 to his glorious1391 body,4983 according2596 to the working1753 whereby3588 he is able1410 even2532 to subdue5293 all3956 things to himself.1438

Chapter 3

1 HENCEFORTH, my brethren, rejoice in our LORD. It does not bother me to write the same things to you, because they enlighten you.

2 Beware of backbiters, beware of evil workers, beware of circumcising.

3 For we are the true people of circumcision, who worship God in Spirit, and glory in Jesus Christ, and yet do not rely on things of the flesh.

4 As for me, I once relied on things of the flesh. However, if a man thinks his hope is on things of the flesh, I have more hope than he has;

5 Because I was circumcised when I was eight days old, being an Israelite by race, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew son of Hebrews, and according to the law a Pharisee;

6 And because, concerning zeal, I was a persecutor of the church; and according to the standards of righteousness of the law, I was blameless.

7 But these things which once were a gain to me, I counted a loss for the sake of Christ.

8 And I still count them all a loss, for the sake of abundant knowledge of Jesus Christ my LORD: for whom I have lost everything, and I have considered all those things as refuse, so that I may increase in Christ

9 And be found in him, since I have no righteousness of my own gained from the law, but the righteousness which comes through the faith of Christ; that is, the righteousness which comes from God:

10 So that through this righteousness I may know Jesus and the power of his resurrection, and be a partaker of his sufferings, even to a death like his;

11 That I may by any means attain the resurrection from the dead.

12 Not as though I had already attained or were already perfect; but I am striving, that I may reach that for which Jesus Christ appointed me.

13 My brethren, I do not consider that I have reached the goal; but this one thing I do know, forgetting those things which are behind me, I strive for those things which are before me,

14 I press toward the goal to receive the prize of victory of God's highest calling through Jesus Christ.

15 Therefore let those of you who are perfect think these things over; and if you reason in any other way, God will reveal even that to you.

16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same path and with one accord.

17 My brethren, be followers like me, and observe those who walk such a path, and then you will be examples as we are.

18 For there are many who live otherwise, of whom I have often told you, and now I tell you with tears that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ;

19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame; whose thought is on earthly things.

20 But our labours are in heavenly things, from whence we look for our Saviour, our LORD Jesus Christ,

21 Who shall transform our poor body, to the likeness of his glorious body, according to his mighty power, whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
