1 Und3499 da Saneballat5571, Tobia2900 und1129 Gosem, der Araber6163, und5704 andere unserer Feinde341 erfuhren, daß ich die Mauer2346 gebauet hatte5975, und keine Lücke6556 mehr dran wäre, wiewohl ich die Türen8179 zu8085 der Zeit6256 noch3498 nicht gehänget hatte in den Toren1817,

2 That Sanballat5571 and Geshem1654 sent7971 to me, saying,559 Come,3212 let us meet3259 together3162 in some one of the villages3715 in the plain1237 of Ono.207 But they thought2803 to do6213 me mischief.7451

2 sandte7971 Saneballat5571 und Gosem zu6213 mir und ließen mir sagen559: Komm3212 und laß uns3162 zusammenkommen3259 in den Dörfern3715, in der Fläche1237 Ono207. Sie gedachten2803 mir aber Böses7451 zu tun.

3 And I sent7971 messengers4397 to them, saying,559 I am doing6213 a great1419 work,4399 so that I cannot369 come3381 down:3381 why4100 should the work4399 cease,7673 whilst834 I leave7503 it, and come3381 down3381 to you?

3 Ich aber sandte Boten4397 zu ihnen und ließ7971 ihn sagen559: Ich habe6213 ein groß1419 Geschäft4399 auszurichten, ich kann3201 nicht hinabkommen3381; es möchte das Werk4399 nachbleiben7673, wo834 ich die3381 Hand abtäte7503 und zu euch hinabzöge.

4 Yet they sent7971 to me four702 times6471 after this2088 sort;1697 and I answered7725 them after the same2088 manner.1697

4 Sie sandten7971 aber1697 wohl viermal702 zu mir auf die Weise1697, und ich antwortete ihnen7725 auf diese Weise.

5 Then sent7971 Sanballat5571 his servant5288 to me in like2088 manner1697 the fifth2549 time6471 with an open6605 letter107 in his hand;3027

5 Da sandte7971 Saneballat5571 zum fünftenmal2549 zu mir seinen Knaben5288 mit1697 einem offenen6605 Briefe107 in seiner Hand3027.

6 Wherein was written,3789 It is reported8085 among the heathen,1471 and Gashmu1654 said559 it, that you and the Jews3064 think2803 to rebel:4775 for which3651 cause you build1129 the wall,2346 that you may be their king,4428 according to these428 words.1697

6 Darinnen war geschrieben: Es1697 ist3789 vor die Heiden1471 kommen, und1129 Gosem hat8085 es gesagt559, daß du2803 und die Juden3064 gedenket abzufallen4775, darum3651 du die Mauer2346 bauest, und du wollest ihr König4428 sein in diesen Sachen;

7 And you have also1571 appointed5975 prophets5030 to preach7121 of you at Jerusalem,3389 saying,559 There is a king4428 in Judah:3063 and now6258 shall it be reported8085 to the king4428 according to these428 words.1697 Come3212 now6258 therefore, and let us take counsel3289 together.3162

7 und du habest dir Propheten5030 bestellet, die von dir ausschreien sollen zu Jerusalem3389 und sagen559: Er7121 ist5975 der König4428 Judas. Nun, solches1697 wird vor den König4428 kommen. So komm3212 nun und laß uns8085 miteinander3162 ratschlagen3289.

8 Then I sent7971 to him, saying,559 There are no3808 such428 things1697 done as you say,559 but you feign908 them out of your own heart.3820

8 Ich aber sandte zu ihm und1961 ließ7971 ihm sagen559: Solches ist nicht geschehen1961, das1697 du559 sagest; du hast908 es aus deinem Herzen3820 erdacht.

9 For they all3605 made us afraid,3372 saying,559 Their hands3027 shall be weakened7503 from the work,4399 that it be not done.6213 Now6258 therefore, O God, strengthen2388 my hands.3027

9 Denn sie559 alle wollten uns furchtsam machen3372 und6213 gedachten: Sie2388 sollen die Hand3027 abtun7503 vom Geschäfte, daß sie nicht arbeiten4399. Aber ich stärkte desto mehr meine Hand3027.

10 Afterward I came935 to the house1004 of Shemaiah8098 the son1121 of Delaiah1806 the son1121 of Mehetabeel,4105 who1931 was shut6113 up; and he said,559 Let us meet3259 together in the house1004 of God,430 within8432 the temple,1964 and let us shut5462 the doors1817 of the temple:1964 for they will come935 to slay2026 you; yes, in the night3915 will they come935 to slay2026 you.

10 Und1121 ich kam935 ins Haus1004 Semajas8098, des Sohns Delajas1806, des Sohns Mehetabeels4105; und1121 er hatte935 sich3259 verschlossen6113 und sprach559: Laß uns zusammenkommen im Hause1004 Gottes430 mitten8432 im Tempel1964 und die Türen1817 des Tempels1964 zuschließen; denn sie werden kommen935, dich zu5462 erwürgen2026, und werden bei der Nacht3915 kommen, daß sie dich erwürgen2026.

11 And I said,559 Should such3644 a man376 as I flee?1272 and who4310 is there, that, being as I am, would go935 into413 the temple1964 to save2425 his life?2425 I will not go935 in.

11 Ich aber sprach559: Sollte ein solcher Mann376 fliehen1272? Sollte ein solcher Mann, wie3644 ich bin, in den Tempel1964 gehen935, daß er lebendig bliebe? Ich will935 nicht hineingehen.

12 And, see,2009 I perceived5234 that God430 had not sent7971 him; but that he pronounced1696 this prophecy5016 against5921 me: for Tobiah2900 and Sanballat5571 had hired7936 him.
|
12 Denn ich merkte, daß ihn GOtt430 nicht5234 gesandt7971 hatte1696. Denn er7936 sagte wohl Weissagung5016 auf mich, aber Tobia2900 und Saneballat5571 hatten ihm Geld gegeben.
|

13 Therefore was he hired,7936 that I should be afraid,3372 and do6213 so,3651 and sin,2398 and that they might have matter for an evil7451 report,8034 that they might reproach2778 me.
|
13 Darum nahm er7936 Geld, auf daß ich mich fürchten3372 sollte und also tun6213 und sündigen2398, daß sie ein bös Geschrei8034 hätten, damit sie mich lästern möchten2778.

14 My God,430 think2142 you on Tobiah2900 and Sanballat5571 according to these428 their works,4639 and on the prophetess5031 Noadiah,5129 and the rest3499 of the prophets,5030 that would have put me in fear.3372

14 Gedenke2142, mein GOtt430, des Tobia2900 und3499 Saneballat5571 nach diesen seinen Werken4639; auch der Prophetin5031 Noadja5129 und der andern Propheten5030, die mich wollten abschrecken3372.

15 So the wall2346 was finished7999 in the twenty6242 and fifth2568 day of the month Elul,435 in fifty2572 and two8147 days.3117
|
15 Und die Mauer2346 ward7999 fertig am fünfundzwanzigsten2568 Tage3117 des Monden Elul435, in zweiundfünfzig8147 Tagen.

16 And it came1961 to pass, that when834 all3605 our enemies341 heard8085 thereof, and all3605 the heathen1471 that were about us saw7200 these things, they were much3966 cast5307 down5307 in their own eyes:5869 for they perceived3045 that this2063 work4399 was worked6213 of our God.430

16 Und6213 da alle unsere Feinde341 das höreten, fürchteten sich7200 alle Heiden1471, die um uns8085 her5439 waren, und der Mut entfiel ihnen5869; denn sie3966 merkten3045, daß dies Werk4399 von GOtt430 war5307.

17 Moreover1571 in those1992 days3117 the nobles2715 of Judah3063 sent1980 many7235 letters107 to Tobiah,2900 and the letters of Tobiah2900 came935 to them.

17 Auch zu derselben Zeit3117 waren935 viel7235 der Obersten2715 Judas, deren Briefe107 gingen1980 zu Tobia2900 und von Tobia2900 zu ihnen.

18 For there were many7227 in Judah3063 sworn1167 7621 to him, because3588 he was the son2860 in law2859 of Shechaniah7935 the son1121 of Arah;733 and his son1121 Johanan3076 had taken3947 the daughter1323 of Meshullam4918 the son1121 of Berechiah.1296

18 Denn ihrer waren viel7227 in Juda3063, die ihm geschworen7621 waren; denn er war1121 ein Schwager2860 Sachanjas, des Sohns Arahs733, und1121 sein Sohn1121 Johanan3076 hatte3947 die Tochter1323 Mesullams4918, des Sohns Berechjas1296.

19 Also1571 they reported559 his good2896 deeds before6440 me, and uttered3318 my words1697 to him. And Tobiah2900 sent7971 letters107 to put me in fear.3372

19 Und sagten559 Gutes2896 von ihm2900 vor mir und brachten meine Rede1697 aus3318 zu ihm. So sandte7971 denn Tobia Briefe107, mich6440 abzuschrecken3372.
