Kapitel 17

1 Es war aber ein Mann376 auf dem Gebirge2022 Ephraim669 mit Namen8034 Micha4321.

2 Der sprach559 zu seiner Mutter517: Die tausend und hundert3967 Silberlinge3701, die du zu dir genommen hast3947 und geschworen und gesagt559 vor meinen Ohren241, siehe, dasselbe Geld3701 ist3947 bei mir, ich hab‘s zu mir genommen. Da sprach559 seine Mutter517: Gesegnet sei1288 mein Sohn1121 dem HErrn3068!

3 Also gab er seiner Mutter517 die6942 tausend und hundert3967 Silberlinge3701 wieder7725. Und seine Mutter517 sprach559: Ich habe das Geld3701 dem HErrn3068 geheiliget von meiner Hand3027 für meinen Sohn1121, daß man ein Bildnis6459 und Abgott4541 machen6213 soll; darum so gebe ich‘s dir nun wieder7725.

4 Aber er gab5414 seiner Mutter517 das Geld3701 wieder7725. Da nahm3947 seine Mutter517 zweihundert3967 Silberlinge3701 und tat sie zu dem Goldschmied6884; der machte6213 ihr ein Bild6459 und Abgott4541, das war danach im Hause1004 Michas4321.

5 Und430 der Mann376 Micha4318 hatte also ein259 Gotteshaus1004 und4390 machte6213 einen Leibrock646 und3548 Heiligtum8655; und füllete seiner Söhne1121 einem die Hand3027, daß er sein Priester ward.

6 Zu der Zeit3117 war kein König4428 in Israel3478, und ein376 jeglicher tat6213, was ihn5869 recht3477 deuchte.

7 Es war aber ein Jüngling5288 von Bethlehem-Juda3063 unter dem Geschlecht4940 Judas; und er war ein Levit3881 und war fremd1481 daselbst.

8 Er376 zog3212 aber aus der Stadt5892 Bethlehem-Juda3063, zu6213 wandern1481, wo er hin konnte4672. Und da er aufs Gebirge2022 Ephraim669 kam935 zum Hause1004 Michas4318, daß er seinen Weg1870 ginge,

9 fragte ihn Micha4318: Wo370 kommst du559 her935? Er antwortete559 ihm: Ich bin1980 ein Levit3881 von Bethlehem-Juda3063 und wandere, wo ich hin kann4672.

10 Micha4318 sprach559 zu ihm: Bleibe3427 bei mir, du sollst mein Vater1 und3548 mein Priester sein; ich will dir jährlich3117 zehn6235 Silberlinge3701 und benannte Kleider899 und deine6187 Nahrung4241 geben5414. Und der Levit3881 ging hin3212.

11 Der Levit3881 trat an2974, zu bleiben3427 bei dem Mann376; und er hielt den Knaben5288 gleichwie einen259 Sohn1121.

12 Und4390 Micha4318 füllete dem Leviten3881 die Hand3027, daß5288 er sein Priester ward; und3548 war also im Hause1004 Michas4318.

13 Und3548 Micha4318 sprach559: Nun weiß3045 ich, daß mir der HErr3068 wird wohltun3190, weil ich einen Leviten3881 zum Priester habe.

1 AND there was a man from mount Ephraim, whose name was Micah.

2 And he said to his mother, The eleven hundred shekels of silver which were taken from you, which you swore about, and spoke of also in my ears, behold, it was I who took the silver. And his mother said, Blessed of the LORD is my son.

3 And when he had restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said, I have wholly consecrated the silver to the LORD from the hands of my son, to make a graven image and a molten image; now therefore restore it to me.

4 So he restored the money to his mother; and his mother took two hundred shekels of silver and gave it to the silversmith, who made it into a graven image and a molten image; and they were kept in the house of Micah.

5 And the man Micah had a house of gods, and he made an ephod and a teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.

6 In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

7 Now there was a young man from Bethlehem of Judah, whose name was Levi, and he sojourned there.

8 And the man had left the city of Beth-lehem of Judah to dwell wherever he could find a place; and he came to mount Ephraim, to the house of Micah, to obtain provisions for his journey.

9 And Micah said to him, Whence do you come? And he replied, I am a Levite of Beth-lehem of Judah, and I go to sojourn where I may find a place.

10 And Micah said to him, Dwell with me, and be to me as a father and a priest, and I will give you ten shekels of silver yearly, and your clothes and your food. So the Levite went in.

11 And the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was to him as one of his sons.

12 And Micah consecrated the Levite; and he became his priest, and was in the house of Micah.

13 Then said Micah, Now I know that the LORD will do me good, seeing that the Levite has become my priest.
