1 Всему своё время, и всё на земле случится в назначенное время.
2 Время рождаться и время умирать, время сажать и время вырывать посаженное.
3 Время убивать и время лечить, время разрушать и время строить.
4 Время плакать и время смеяться, время грустить и время плясать.
5 Время складывать оружие и время его подбирать, время обнимать и время выпустить из объятий.
6 Время находить и время терять, время беречь и время выбрасывать.
7 Время разрывать одежду и время зашивать её, время молчать и время говорить.
8 Время любить и время ненавидеть, время для войны и время для мира.
9 Получает ли на самом деле что-нибудь человек от тяжёлой работы? Нет!
10 Я видел весь тяжёлый труд, который Бог повелел нам исполнить.
11 Бог позволил нам думать о царстве Его, и потому мы не в состоянии понять всего, что Бог творит, и всё же Бог всё совершает вовремя.
12 Я понял, что лучшее для людей, — это быть счастливыми и стремиться к наслаждениям всю жизнь.
13 Бог хочет, чтобы каждый человек ел, пил, любил свою работу. Таковы дары Божьи.
14 Я понял, что всё сотворённое Господом, будет продолжаться веками. Люди не могут ничего прибавить к этому и ничего не могут отнять от Его свершений. Бог сделал так, чтобы люди перед Ним благоговели.
15 Что случилось в прошлом, уже произошло, а то, что случится в будущем, тому только суждено случиться, но Бог помогает униженным и обездоленным.
16 И ещё я видел в жизни: суд должен быть исполнен доброты и справедливости, а там царит зло.
17 И я сказал сам себе: «Господь назначил время всему и всякой работе. В назначенное время Он будет судить и праведных, и грешных». Одинаковы ли животные и люди?
18 Подумав о том, как люди относятся друг к другу, я сказал себе: «Господь хочет, чтобы люди увидели, насколько подобны они животным:
19 и человек, и животное умирают, и обоих дыхание покидает. Нет разницы между мёртвым животным и человеком, всё это бессмысленно.
20 Тело животного и тело человека одинаково приходит из земли и в землю обратно уходит.
21 Кто знает, что случается с человеческим духом, кто знает, поднимается ли он к Богу, в то время как дух животного сходит в землю?»
22 И я увидел, что лучшее для человека — наслаждаться своим делом, потому что это всё, что у него есть. Кроме того, никто не поможет ему увидеть, что с ним в будущем произойдёт.
