Глава 19

1 Когда Господь, твой Бог, истребит народы, землю которых Он отдает тебе, и когда ты прогонишь их и поселишься в их городах и домах,

2 тогда отдели себе три города, расположенные посередине земли, которую Господь, твой Бог, отдает тебе во владение.

3 Проложи к ним дороги и раздели на три части землю, которую Господь, твой Бог, отдает тебе в наследие, чтобы всякий, кто убьет кого-либо, мог туда убежать.

4 Вот правило о человеке, который совершит убийство и убежит туда, чтобы спасти свою жизнь, о всяком, кто убьет человека неумышленно, не питая к убитому ненависти.

5 Например, человек пойдет в лес с кем-нибудь, чтобы нарубить дров. А когда он замахнется на дерево топором, топор слетит с топорища, ударит другого и убьет его. Такой человек может убежать в один из этих городов и спасти свою жизнь.

6 Иначе, если расстояние слишком велико, мститель за кровь может погнаться за ним в гневе, настигнуть и убить. Хотя тот и не заслуживает смерти, потому что убил неумышленно, не питая к убитому ненависти.

7 Вот почему я повелеваю тебе отделить три города.

8 Когда Господь, твой Бог, расширит твои владения, как Он клялся твоим отцам, и даст тебе всю землю, которую обещал им,

9 если ты будешь прилежно следовать всем повелениям, которые я даю тебе сегодня, — любить Господа, твоего Бога, и всегда ходить Его путями, — то выбери еще три города.

10 Сделай это, чтобы в твоей земле, которую Господь, твой Бог, дает тебе в наследие, не проливалась невинная кровь, и чтобы ты не был виновным в кровопролитии.

11 Но если человек из ненависти к ближнему устроит ему засаду, нападет на него и убьет, а потом убежит в один из этих городов,

12 то старейшины его города должны послать за ним, чтобы вернуть его из города-убежища и передать мстителю за кровь — пусть он умрет.

13 Не жалей его. Ты должен искоренить в Израиле грех пролития невинной крови, чтобы в дальнейшем у тебя все было благополучно.

14 Не передвигай межу ближнего твоего, установленную твоими предшественниками в наследии, которое ты получил в земле, которую Господь, твой Бог, отдает тебе во владение.

15 Чтобы осудить человека, обвиняемого в каком бы то ни было преступлении или проступке, одного свидетеля недостаточно. Любое обвинение должно подтверждаться показаниями двух или трех свидетелей.

16 Если злонамеренный свидетель встанет, чтобы обвинить человека в преступлении,

17 то двое участников тяжбы должны предстать перед Господом, священниками и судьями, которые будут в те дни.

18 Судьи должны тщательно расследовать дело, и если свидетель окажется лгуном, дающим ложное показание против своего брата,

19 то вы должны сделать с ним то, что он хотел сделать со своим братом. Ты должен искоренить зло среди своего народа.

20 Остальной народ услышит об этом и испугается, и впредь такое злое дело никогда не повторится у тебя.

21 Не поддавайся жалости: жизнь за жизнь, глаз за глаз, зуб за зуб, руку за руку, ногу за ногу.

1 WHEN the LORD your God has destroyed the nations whose land the LORD your God gives you, and you shall possess them and dwell in their cities, and in their houses;

2 You shall set apart for you three cities in the midst of your land which the LORD your God gives you as an inheritance.

3 You shall prepare for you a highway, and divide into three parts the land which the LORD your God gives you to inherit, that any slayer may flee thither.

4 And this is the law in the case of the slayer who kills his neighbor and flees there that he may live, whosoever kills his neighbor unintentionally, whom he hated not in time past;

5 And when a man goes into the forest with his neighbor to cut wood, and as he lifts up his hand with the axe to cut down a tree, the iron head slips from the helve and strikes his neighbor so that he dies; he shall flee to one of these cities, and live;

6 Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his anger is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; though he was not worthy of death, because he hated him not in time past.

7 Therefore I command you, saying, You shall set apart three cities for you.

8 And when the LORD your God shall enlarge your territory, as he has sworn to your fathers, and gives you all the land which he promised to give to your fathers;

9 If you shall keep all these commandments to do them, which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in his ways always; then you shall add three cities more for you besides these three;

10 That innocent blood may not be shed in the land which the LORD your God gives you, and that the guilt of innocent blood not be upon you.

11 But if any man hate his neighbor, and lie in wait for him, and attack him, and smite him mortally so that he dies, and he flees to one of these cities;

12 Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him from there, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, and he shall slay him.

13 Your eyes shall not pity him, but you shall kill him, and thus purge the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with you.

14 You shall not remove your neighbor's landmark, which they of old time have set in your inheritance, which you shall inherit in the land that the LORD your God gives you to possess.

15 A single witness shall not rise up against a man for any offense, or for any crime, in whatever offense or crime he may commit; on the testimony of two witnesses, or on the testimony of three witnesses, shall a charge be established.

16 If a false witness rise up against any man, and testify against him that which is wrong;

17 Then both the men between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges who shall be in those days;

18 And the judges shall investigate the case diligently; and, behold, if the witness has deliberately testified falsely against his brother;

19 Then you shall do to him as he had thought to do to his brother; so shall you put the evil away from among you.

20 And those who remain shall hear, and fear, and shall never again commit any such an evil thing among you.

21 And your eye shall not pity; but life shall be for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

4 Вот правило о человеке, который совершит убийство и убежит туда, чтобы спасти свою жизнь, о всяком, кто убьет человека неумышленно, не питая к убитому ненависти.

4 And this is the law in the case of the slayer who kills his neighbor and flees there that he may live, whosoever kills his neighbor unintentionally, whom he hated not in time past;

5 Например, человек пойдет в лес с кем-нибудь, чтобы нарубить дров. А когда он замахнется на дерево топором, топор слетит с топорища, ударит другого и убьет его. Такой человек может убежать в один из этих городов и спасти свою жизнь.

7 Therefore I command you, saying, You shall set apart three cities for you.

8 Когда Господь, твой Бог, расширит твои владения, как Он клялся твоим отцам, и даст тебе всю землю, которую обещал им,

8 And when the LORD your God shall enlarge your territory, as he has sworn to your fathers, and gives you all the land which he promised to give to your fathers;

9 если ты будешь прилежно следовать всем повелениям, которые я даю тебе сегодня, — любить Господа, твоего Бога, и всегда ходить Его путями, — то выбери еще три города.

9 If you shall keep all these commandments to do them, which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in his ways always; then you shall add three cities more for you besides these three;

10 Сделай это, чтобы в твоей земле, которую Господь, твой Бог, дает тебе в наследие, не проливалась невинная кровь, и чтобы ты не был виновным в кровопролитии.

10 That innocent blood may not be shed in the land which the LORD your God gives you, and that the guilt of innocent blood not be upon you.

11 Но если человек из ненависти к ближнему устроит ему засаду, нападет на него и убьет, а потом убежит в один из этих городов,

11 But if any man hate his neighbor, and lie in wait for him, and attack him, and smite him mortally so that he dies, and he flees to one of these cities;

12 то старейшины его города должны послать за ним, чтобы вернуть его из города-убежища и передать мстителю за кровь — пусть он умрет.

12 Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him from there, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, and he shall slay him.

13 Не жалей его. Ты должен искоренить в Израиле грех пролития невинной крови, чтобы в дальнейшем у тебя все было благополучно.

13 Your eyes shall not pity him, but you shall kill him, and thus purge the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with you.

15 Чтобы осудить человека, обвиняемого в каком бы то ни было преступлении или проступке, одного свидетеля недостаточно. Любое обвинение должно подтверждаться показаниями двух или трех свидетелей.

15 A single witness shall not rise up against a man for any offense, or for any crime, in whatever offense or crime he may commit; on the testimony of two witnesses, or on the testimony of three witnesses, shall a charge be established.

16 Если злонамеренный свидетель встанет, чтобы обвинить человека в преступлении,

16 If a false witness rise up against any man, and testify against him that which is wrong;

17 то двое участников тяжбы должны предстать перед Господом, священниками и судьями, которые будут в те дни.

17 Then both the men between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges who shall be in those days;

18 Судьи должны тщательно расследовать дело, и если свидетель окажется лгуном, дающим ложное показание против своего брата,

18 And the judges shall investigate the case diligently; and, behold, if the witness has deliberately testified falsely against his brother;

19 то вы должны сделать с ним то, что он хотел сделать со своим братом. Ты должен искоренить зло среди своего народа.

19 Then you shall do to him as he had thought to do to his brother; so shall you put the evil away from among you.

20 Остальной народ услышит об этом и испугается, и впредь такое злое дело никогда не повторится у тебя.

20 And those who remain shall hear, and fear, and shall never again commit any such an evil thing among you.

21 Не поддавайся жалости: жизнь за жизнь, глаз за глаз, зуб за зуб, руку за руку, ногу за ногу.

21 And your eye shall not pity; but life shall be for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
