Глава 23

1 Валаам сказал Валаку: — Построй мне здесь семь жертвенников и приготовь семь быков и семь баранов.

2 Валак сделал, как сказал Валаам, и они вдвоем принесли на каждом жертвеннике по быку и барану.

3 Валаам сказал Валаку: — Стой здесь, у своих всесожжений, а я отойду в сторону. Может быть, Господь придет, чтобы встретиться со мной. Все, что Он мне откроет, я расскажу тебе. И он ушел на голую вершину.

4 Бог встретился с ним, и Валаам сказал: — Я приготовил семь жертвенников и на каждом принес быка и барана.

5 Господь научил Валаама, что сказать, и велел: — Вернись к Валаку и передай ему это.

6 Он вернулся к нему и нашел его стоящим возле своих всесожжений со всеми вождями Моава.

7 И Валаам произнес пророчество: — Из Арама привел меня Валак, царь Моава — от гор восточных: «Приди, прокляни мне Иакова; приди, обреки Израиль на погибель».

8 Как мне проклясть тех, кого Бог не проклял? Как на гибель обречь тех, кого Бог не обрек?

9 Со скальных вершин я на них смотрю, с холмов я на них взираю. Вижу народ, который отдельно живет и не считает себя одним из народов.

10 Кто же сочтет потомков Иакова — их столько, сколько пылинок на земле, — или четвертую часть Израиля? Пусть я умру смертью праведных, и пусть будет кончина моя, как у них!

11 Валак сказал Валааму: — Что ты со мной сделал? Я привел тебя проклясть моих врагов, а ты их благословляешь!

12 Он ответил: — Разве я не должен говорить то, что мне велит Господь?

13 Тогда Валак сказал ему: — Пойдем со мной в другое место, откуда ты сможешь их увидеть. Там ты увидишь только некоторых, не всех. Тогда прокляни их для меня оттуда.

14 Он отвел его на поле Цофим на вершине Фасги, построил там семь жертвенников и принес на каждом быка и барана.

15 Валаам сказал Валаку: — Стой здесь, у своих всесожжений, пока я там встречусь с Ним.

16 Господь встретился с Валаамом, научил его, что сказать, и велел: — Вернись к Валаку и передай ему это.

17 Он пошел к нему и нашел его стоящим возле своих всесожжений с вождями Моава. Валак спросил его: — Что сказал Господь?

18 Тогда Валаам произнес пророчество: — Валак, соберись и слушай; сын Циппора, внимай мне.

19 Бог — не человек, чтобы лгать, и не смертный, чтобы передумывать. Неужели скажет Он и не сделает, пообещает и не исполнит?

20 Я получил повеление благословлять; благословляет Он — я не могу отменить.

21 Не видно несчастья в Иакове, не заметно беды в Израиле. С ними Господь, их Бог, провозглашенный ими Царем.

22 Из Египта их вывел Бог; сила их — сила дикого быка.

23 Нет колдовства на Иакова, нет ворожбы на Израиля. Станут теперь говорить об Иакове и об Израиле: «Вот что Бог сотворил!»

24 Как львица встает народ; как лев поднимается! Не успокоится он, пока не пожрет добычу и кровью жертв не напьется.

25 Тогда Валак сказал Валааму: — Не проклинай их и не благословляй!

26 Валаам ответил: — Разве я не говорил тебе, что должен делать все, что скажет Господь?

27 Тогда Валак сказал Валааму: — Пойдем, я отведу тебя в другое место. Может быть, Богу будет угодно дать тебе проклясть их мне оттуда.

28 Валак отвел Валаама на вершину Пеора, обращенную к пустыне.

29 Валаам сказал Валаку: — Построй мне здесь семь жертвенников и приготовь семь быков и семь баранов.

30 Валак сделал, как сказал Валаам, и принес на каждом жертвеннике быка и барана.

Chapter 23

1 AND Balaam said to Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven oxen and seven rams.

2 And Balak did as Balaam had told him; and Balak and Balaam offered on every altar a bullock and a ram.

3 And Balaam said to Balak, Stand here by your burnt offerings, and I will go. Perhaps the LORD will come to meet me; and whatever he shows me I will tell you. So he went away quietly.

4 And God appeared to Balaam and said to him, You have prepared seven altars, and have offered upon every altar a bullock and a ram.

5 Then the LORD put a word in Balaam's mouth and said to him, Return to Balak, and thus you shall speak.

6 And he returned to him, and, lo, he stood by his burnt offerings, he and all the princes of Moab.

7 And he took up his parable and said, Balak the king of the Moabites has brought me from Aram, from the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse Jacob for me, and come, destroy Israel for me.

8 How can I curse whom God has not cursed? How can I destroy whom the LORD has not destroyed?

9 For from the top of the mountains I see him, and from the hills I behold him; lo, the people are dwelling alone and are not reckoned among the nations.

10 Who can count the multitude of the descendants of Jacob, and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my end be like theirs!

11 And Balak said to Balaam, What have you done to me? I called you to curse my enemies, and, behold, you have surely blessed them.

12 And Balaam answered and said, Behold, whatever the LORD puts in my mouth that thing will I speak.

13 And Balak said to him, Come with me to another place, from which you may see them; but you shall see the utmost part of them, and shall not see them all; and curse them for me from thence.

14 And he brought him to the field of watchmen, to the top of the hill, and built seven altars, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.

15 And Balaam said to Balak, Stand here by your burnt offerings while I go yonder.

16 And the LORD appeared to Balaam and put a word in his mouth and said to him, Go again to Balak and say thus.

17 And when he came to him, he was standing by his burnt offerings, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said to him, What has the LORD spoken?

18 And he took up his parable and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; and give ear to my testimony, O son of Zippor;

19 God is not a man that he should lie; neither the son of man that he should be given counsel; he speaks and he shall do it, and his word abides for ever.

20 Behold, I was brought here to bless; and I cannot reverse the blessing.

21 I do not behold iniquity in Jacob, neither have I seen malice in Israel; the LORD his God is with him, and the glory of his King is among them.

22 God brought them out of Egypt with his might and excellency.

23 For there is no augury in Jacob, neither is there any divination in Israel; according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What has God wrought!

24 Behold, the people shall rise up as a lion and march like a lion; he shall not lie down until he eats the prey and drinks the blood of the slain.

25 Then Balak said to Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all.

26 But Balaam answered and said to Balak, Did I not tell you. All that the LORD speaks to me, that very thing I must do?

27 And Balak said to Balaam, Come, I will take you to another place; perhaps it will please God that you may curse them for me from there.

28 Then Balak took Balaam to the top of Peor, that looks toward Ashimon.

29 And Balaam said to Balak, Build me here seven altars and prepare me seven bullocks and seven rams.

30 And Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.

3 Валаам сказал Валаку: — Стой здесь, у своих всесожжений, а я отойду в сторону. Может быть, Господь придет, чтобы встретиться со мной. Все, что Он мне откроет, я расскажу тебе. И он ушел на голую вершину.	3 And Balaam said to Balak, Stand here by your burnt offerings, and I will go. Perhaps the LORD will come to meet me; and whatever he shows me I will tell you. So he went away quietly.

5 Господь научил Валаама, что сказать, и велел: — Вернись к Валаку и передай ему это.	5 Then the LORD put a word in Balaam's mouth and said to him, Return to Balak, and thus you shall speak.
6 Он вернулся к нему и нашел его стоящим возле своих всесожжений со всеми вождями Моава.	6 And he returned to him, and, lo, he stood by his burnt offerings, he and all the princes of Moab.
7 И Валаам произнес пророчество: — Из Арама привел меня Валак, царь Моава — от гор восточных: «Приди, прокляни мне Иакова; приди, обреки Израиль на погибель».	7 And he took up his parable and said, Balak the king of the Moabites has brought me from Aram, from the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse Jacob for me, and come, destroy Israel for me.
8 Как мне проклясть тех, кого Бог не проклял? Как на гибель обречь тех, кого Бог не обрек?	8 How can I curse whom God has not cursed? How can I destroy whom the LORD has not destroyed?
9 Со скальных вершин я на них смотрю, с холмов я на них взираю. Вижу народ, который отдельно живет и не считает себя одним из народов.	9 For from the top of the mountains I see him, and from the hills I behold him; lo, the people are dwelling alone and are not reckoned among the nations.
10 Кто же сочтет потомков Иакова — их столько, сколько пылинок на земле, — или четвертую часть Израиля? Тогда прокляни их для меня оттуда.	13 And Balak said to him, Come with me to another place, from which you may see them; but you shall see the utmost part of them, and shall not see them all; and curse them for me from thence.

17 Он пошел к нему и нашел его стоящим возле своих всесожжений с вождями Моава. Валак спросил его: — Что сказал Господь?	17 And when he came to him, he was standing by his burnt offerings, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said to him, What has the LORD spoken?
18 Тогда Валаам произнес пророчество: — Валак, соберись и слушай; сын Циппора, внимай мне.	18 And he took up his parable and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; and give ear to my testimony, O son of Zippor;
19 Бог — не человек, чтобы лгать, и не смертный, чтобы передумывать. Неужели скажет Он и не сделает, пообещает и не исполнит?	19 God is not a man that he should lie; neither the son of man that he should be given counsel; he speaks and he shall do it, and his word abides for ever.
20 Я получил повеление благословлять; благословляет Он — я не могу отменить.	20 Behold, I was brought here to bless; and I cannot reverse the blessing.
21 Не видно несчастья в Иакове, не заметно беды в Израиле. С ними Господь, их Бог, провозглашенный ими Царем.	21 I do not behold iniquity in Jacob, neither have I seen malice in Israel; the LORD his God is with him, and the glory of his King is among them.
22 Из Египта их вывел Бог; сила их — сила дикого быка.	22 God brought them out of Egypt with his might and excellency.
