Глава 11

1 Иеффай, Галаадитянин, был человек храбрый. Он был сын блудницы; от Галаада родился Иеффай.

2 И жена Галаадова родила ему сынов. Когда возмужали сыновья, изгнали они Иеффая, сказав ему: ты не наследник в доме отца нашего, потому что ты сын другой женщины.

3 Иеффай убежал от братьев своих и жил в земле Тов; и собрались к Иеффаю праздные люди, и ходили с ним.

4 Спустя несколько времени, сыны Аммоновы пошли войною на Израиля.

5 Во время войны сынов Аммоновых с Израилем, пришли старейшины Галаадские взять Иеффая из земли Тов.

6 И сказали Иеффаю: иди, будь у нас вождем, и сразимся с сынами Аммоновыми.

7 Иеффай сказал старейшинам Галаадским: не вы ли возненавидели меня и выгнали из дома отца моего, зачем же пришли ко мне ныне, когда на вас беда пришла?

8 Старейшины Галаадские сказали Иеффаю: для того мы теперь собрались к тебе, чтобы ты пошел с нами и сразился с сынами Аммоновыми, и был у нас начальником всех жителей Галаадских.

9 И сказал Иеффай старейшинам Галаадским: если вы опять возьмете меня, чтобы сразиться с сынами Аммоновыми, и Господь предаст мне их, то останусь ли я у вас начальником?

10 Старейшины Галаадские сказали Иеффаю: Господь да будет свидетелем между нами, что мы сделаем по слову твоему!

11 Иеффай пошел со старейшинами Галаадскими, и народ поставил его над собою начальником и вождем, и Иеффай произнес все слова свои пред лицем Господа в Массифе.

12 И послал Иеффай послов к царю сынов Аммоновых сказать: что тебе до меня, что ты идешь войною на землю мою?

13 Царь сынов Аммоновых сказал послам Иеффая: Израиль, когда шел из Египта, взял землю мою от Арнона до Иавока и Иордана; итак возврати мне ее с миром.

14 Иеффай в другой раз послал послов к царю сынов Аммоновых

15 Сказать ему: так говорит Иеффай: Израиль не взял земли Моава и земли сынов Аммоновых.

16 Ибо когда шли из Египта, Израиль пошел в пустыню к Чермному морю, и пришел в Кадес.

17 Оттоле послал Израиль послов к царю Едомскому сказать: позволь мне пройдти землею твоею; но царь Едомский не послушал. И к царю Моавитскому он посылал, но и тот не согласился; посему Израиль оставался в Кадесе.

18 И шел пустынею, и миновал землю Едомскую и землю Моавитскую, и пришедши к восточному пределу земли Моавитской, расположился станом за Арноном; но не входил в пределы Моавитские, ибо Арнон есть предел Моава.

19 И послал Израиль послов к Сигону, царю Аморрейскому, царю Есевонскому, и сказал ему Израиль: позволь нам пройти землею твоею в мое место.

20 Но Сигон не решился пропустить Израиля чрез пределы свои; и собрал Сигон весь народ свой, и расположился станом в Иааце, и сразился с Израилем.

21 И предал Иегова, Бог Израилев, Сигона и весь народ его в руки Израиля, и победил их, и получил в наследие Израиль всю землю Аморрея, жившего в земле той.

22 И получили они в наследие все пределы Аморрейские от Арнона до Иавока, и от пустыни до Иордана.

23 Итак Иегова, Бог Израилев, изгнал Аморрея от лица народа Своего Израиля, а ты хочешь взять его наследие?

24 Ты можешь владеть тем, что Хамос, бог твой, оставит тебе в наследие. А мы будем владеть всем тем, что Иегова, Бог наш, дал нам в наследие.

25 Разве ты лучше Валака, сына Сепфорова, царя Моавитского? Ссорился ли он с Израилем, или воевал ли с ними?

26 Израиль уже живет триста лет в Есевоне и зависящих от него городах, в Ароире, и зависящих от него городах, и во всех городах, которые близ Арнона, для чего вы в то время не отнимали их?

27 А я не виновен пред тобою, и ты делаешь мне зло, выступая против меня войной. Господь Судия да будет ныне судьею между сынами Израиля и между сынами Аммоновыми!

28 Но царь сынов Аммоновых не послушал слов Иеффая, с которыми он посылал к нему.

29 И сошел на Иеффая Дух Господень, и прошел он Галаад и Манассию, и прошел Массифу Галаадскую, и из Массифы Галаадской пошел к сынам Аммоновым.

30 И дал Иеффай обет Господу, и сказал: если ты предашь сынов Аммоновых в руки мои,

31 То, по возвращении моем с миром от сынов Аммоновых, что выйдет из дверей дома моего навстречу мне, будет Господне, и вознесу сие во всесожжение.

32 И пришел Иеффай к сынам Аммоновым, и сразился с ними, и предал их Господь в руки его.

33 И поразил их поражением весьма великим, от Ароира до Минифа двадцать городов, и до Авел-Керамима, и смирились сыны Аммоновы пред сынами Израилевыми.

34 И пришел Иеффай в Массифу в дом свой, и вот, дочь его выходит навстречу ему с тимпанами и ликованием: она была у него только одна, и не было у него еще ни сына, ни дочери.

35 Когда он увидел ее, разодрал одежду свою, и сказал: ах, дочь моя! ты сразила меня, и ты в числе нарушителей покоя моего! Я отверз уста мои пред Господом, и не могу возвратить обета.

36 Она сказала ему: отец мой! ты отверз уста свои пред Господом, и делай со мною то, что произнесли уста твои, когда Господь совершил чрез тебя отмщение врагам твоим, сынам Аммоновым.

37 И сказала отцу своему: только сделай мне сие: отпусти меня на два месяца, я пойду, взойду на горы и оплачу девство мое с подругами моими.

38 Он сказал: пойди; и отпустил ее на два месяца. Она пошла с подругами своими, и оплакивала девство свое в горах.

39 По прошествии двух месяцев, она возвратилась к отцу своему, и он совершил над нею обет свой, который дал, и она не познала мужа. И вошло в обычай у Израиля,

40 Что повременно дочери Израилевы ходили восхвалять дочь Иеффая Галаадитянина, четыре дня в году.

Chapter 11

1 NOW Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valor, but he was the son of a harlot; and Gilead begat Jephthah.

2 And Gilead's wife bore him sons; and when his wife's sons grew up, they expelled Jephthah, saying, He shall not inherit in our father's house, because he is the son of another woman.

3 Then Jephthah fled from his brothers, and dwelt in the land of Tobtha; and there were gathered worthless men to Jephthah, and they went raiding with him.

4 And it came to pass after a time, the children of Ammon made war against Israel.

5 And when the children of Ammon made war against the children of Israel, the elders of Gilead went to bring Jephthah from the land of Tobtha;

6 And they said to Jephthah, Come and be our leader, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.

7 And Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, Did you not hate me and expel me from my father's house? And why have you come to me now when you are in distress?

8 And the elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, That is why we have come to you now, that you may go with us and fight against the children of Ammon and be the leader over all the inhabitants of Gilead.

9 And Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, If you bring me back to fight against the children of Ammon, and the LORD deliver them before me, shall I be your chief?

10 And the elders of Gilead said to him, The LORD shall be witness between us, if we do not so according to your words.

11 Then Jephthah went with the eiders of Gilead, and the people made him chief and ruler over them; and Jephthah uttered all his words before the LORD in Mizpeh.

12 And Jephthah sent messengers to the king of the children of Ammon, saying, What have we against each other, that you have come against me to fight in my land?

13 And the king of the children of Ammon said to the messengers of Jephthah, Because the children of Israel took away my land when they came up out of the land of Egypt from Arnon even to Jabbok and to the Jordan, now therefore restore these lands to me peaceably.

14 And Jephthah sent letters and messengers again to the king of the children of Ammon;

15 And said to him, Thus says Jephthah, Israel did not take away the land of Moab nor the land of the children of Ammon;

16 Because when the children of Israel came up from Egypt, Israel journeyed through the wilderness as far as the Red Sea, and came to Rakim;

17 Then Israel sent messengers to the king of Edom, saying, Let me pass through your land; but the king of Edom would not listen. And they sent also to the king of Moab; but he would not consent; so Israel stayed in Rakim.

18 Then they journeyed through the wilderness, and went around the land of Edom and the land of Moab, and they encamped on the other side of Arnon, but they did not enter the territory of Moab; for Arnon was the border of Moab.

19 And Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon; and Israel said to him, Let us pass through your land until we come to our land.

20 But Sihon did not trust Israel to pass through his territory; so Sihon gathered all his people together and encamped at Jahaz and fought against Israel.

21 And the LORD our God delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and Israel destroyed the land of the Amorites.

22 And they possessed all their territory, from Arnon as far as Jabbok, and from the wilderness even to the Jordan.

23 So now after the LORD God of Israel has destroyed the Amorites from before his people Israel, are you to possess their land?

24 Will you not possess that which Chemosh your god gives you to possess? So whomever the LORD our God has destroyed from before us, their land will we possess.

25 And now are you any better than Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab. Did he ever strive against Israel? Or did he ever fight against them?

26 While Israel dwelt in Heshbon and its villages, and in Adoer and its villages, and in all the cities that are along the banks of Arnon, three hundred years? Why did you not recover them within that time?

27 Now therefore I have not sinned against you, but you do me wrong to make war against me; let the LORD judge this day between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon.

28 But the king of the children of Ammon did not listen to the words of Jephthah which he sent him.

29 Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead; and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over to the children of Ammon.

30 And Jephthah vowed a vow to the LORD, and said, If thou wilt surely deliver the children of Ammon into my hands,

31 Then whosoever comes forth of the door of my house to meet me when I return in peace from the children of Ammon shall be the LORD'S, and I will offer him up for a burnt offering.

32 So Jephthah passed over to the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hands.

33 And he smote them from Adoer, as far as the entrance of Machir, twenty cities, and as far as Abel Karmin, the plain of vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were defeated before the children of Israel.

34 Then Jephthah came to Mizpeh to his house, and, behold, his daughter carne out to meet him with timbrels and with dances; and she was his only child; besides her he had neither son nor daughter.

35 And when he saw her, he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! You have brought me very low, and you have become today one of those that ruin me; for I have made a promise to God, and I cannot go back on it.

36 And his daughter said to him, My father, if you have made a promise to God, do to me according to that which has proceeded out of your mouth; since the LORD has taken vengeance for you on your enemies, even of the children of Ammon.

37 And she said to her father, Grant me this thing only: let me alone two months that I may go and wander on the mountains and bewail my virginity, I and my companions.

38 And he said, Go. And he sent her away for two months: and she went with her companions, and bewailed her virginity on the mountains.

39 And at the end of two months, she returned to her father, who did with her according to his vow; and she knew no man. And it became a custom among the children of Israel,

40 That the daughters of Israel went yearly to weep and lament over the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite four days in a year.

3 Then Jephthah fled from his brothers, and dwelt in the land of Tobtha; and there were gathered worthless men to Jephthah, and they went raiding with him.

4 Спустя несколько времени, сыны Аммоновы пошли войною на Израиля.

4 And it came to pass after a time, the children of Ammon made war against Israel.

5 Во время войны сынов Аммоновых с Израилем, пришли старейшины Галаадские взять Иеффая из земли Тов.

5 And when the children of Ammon made war against the children of Israel, the elders of Gilead went to bring Jephthah from the land of Tobtha;

6 И сказали Иеффаю: иди, будь у нас вождем, и сразимся с сынами Аммоновыми.

6 And they said to Jephthah, Come and be our leader, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.

7 Иеффай сказал старейшинам Галаадским: не вы ли возненавидели меня и выгнали из дома отца моего, зачем же пришли ко мне ныне, когда на вас беда пришла?

7 And Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, Did you not hate me and expel me from my father's house? And why have you come to me now when you are in distress?

8 Старейшины Галаадские сказали Иеффаю: для того мы теперь собрались к тебе, чтобы ты пошел с нами и сразился с сынами Аммоновыми, и был у нас начальником всех жителей Галаадских.

8 And the elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, That is why we have come to you now, that you may go with us and fight against the children of Ammon and be the leader over all the inhabitants of Gilead.

9 И сказал Иеффай старейшинам Галаадским: если вы опять возьмете меня, чтобы сразиться с сынами Аммоновыми, и Господь предаст мне их, то останусь ли я у вас начальником?

9 And Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, If you bring me back to fight against the children of Ammon, and the LORD deliver them before me, shall I be your chief?

10 Старейшины Галаадские сказали Иеффаю: Господь да будет свидетелем между нами, что мы сделаем по слову твоему!

10 And the elders of Gilead said to him, The LORD shall be witness between us, if we do not so according to your words.

11 Иеффай пошел со старейшинами Галаадскими, и народ поставил его над собою начальником и вождем, и Иеффай произнес все слова свои пред лицем Господа в Массифе.

11 Then Jephthah went with the eiders of Gilead, and the people made him chief and ruler over them; and Jephthah uttered all his words before the LORD in Mizpeh.

13 Царь сынов Аммоновых сказал послам Иеффая: Израиль, когда шел из Египта, взял землю мою от Арнона до Иавока и Иордана; итак возврати мне ее с миром.

13 And the king of the children of Ammon said to the messengers of Jephthah, Because the children of Israel took away my land when they came up out of the land of Egypt from Arnon even to Jabbok and to the Jordan, now therefore restore these lands to me peaceably.

14 Иеффай в другой раз послал послов к царю сынов Аммоновых

14 And Jephthah sent letters and messengers again to the king of the children of Ammon;

15 Сказать ему: так говорит Иеффай: Израиль не взял земли Моава и земли сынов Аммоновых.

15 And said to him, Thus says Jephthah, Israel did not take away the land of Moab nor the land of the children of Ammon;

16 Ибо когда шли из Египта, Израиль пошел в пустыню к Чермному морю, и пришел в Кадес.

16 Because when the children of Israel came up from Egypt, Israel journeyed through the wilderness as far as the Red Sea, and came to Rakim;

17 Оттоле послал Израиль послов к царю Едомскому сказать: позволь мне пройдти землею твоею; но царь Едомский не послушал. И к царю Моавитскому он посылал, но и тот не согласился; посему Израиль оставался в Кадесе.

17 Then Israel sent messengers to the king of Edom, saying, Let me pass through your land; but the king of Edom would not listen. And they sent also to the king of Moab; but he would not consent; so Israel stayed in Rakim.

18 И шел пустынею, и миновал землю Едомскую и землю Моавитскую, и пришедши к восточному пределу земли Моавитской, расположился станом за Арноном; но не входил в пределы Моавитские, ибо Арнон есть предел Моава.

18 Then they journeyed through the wilderness, and went around the land of Edom and the land of Moab, and they encamped on the other side of Arnon, but they did not enter the territory of Moab; for Arnon was the border of Moab.

19 И послал Израиль послов к Сигону, царю Аморрейскому, царю Есевонскому, и сказал ему Израиль: позволь нам пройти землею твоею в мое место.

19 And Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon; and Israel said to him, Let us pass through your land until we come to our land.

20 Но Сигон не решился пропустить Израиля чрез пределы свои; и собрал Сигон весь народ свой, и расположился станом в Иааце, и сразился с Израилем.

20 But Sihon did not trust Israel to pass through his territory; so Sihon gathered all his people together and encamped at Jahaz and fought against Israel.

21 И предал Иегова, Бог Израилев, Сигона и весь народ его в руки Израиля, и победил их, и получил в наследие Израиль всю землю Аморрея, жившего в земле той.

21 And the LORD our God delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and Israel destroyed the land of the Amorites.

22 И получили они в наследие все пределы Аморрейские от Арнона до Иавока, и от пустыни до Иордана.

22 And they possessed all their territory, from Arnon as far as Jabbok, and from the wilderness even to the Jordan.

23 Итак Иегова, Бог Израилев, изгнал Аморрея от лица народа Своего Израиля, а ты хочешь взять его наследие?

23 So now after the LORD God of Israel has destroyed the Amorites from before his people Israel, are you to possess their land?

24 Ты можешь владеть тем, что Хамос, бог твой, оставит тебе в наследие. А мы будем владеть всем тем, что Иегова, Бог наш, дал нам в наследие.

24 Will you not possess that which Chemosh your god gives you to possess? So whomever the LORD our God has destroyed from before us, their land will we possess.

25 Разве ты лучше Валака, сына Сепфорова, царя Моавитского? Ссорился ли он с Израилем, или воевал ли с ними?

25 And now are you any better than Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab. Did he ever strive against Israel? Or did he ever fight against them?

26 Израиль уже живет триста лет в Есевоне и зависящих от него городах, в Ароире, и зависящих от него городах, и во всех городах, которые близ Арнона, для чего вы в то время не отнимали их?

26 While Israel dwelt in Heshbon and its villages, and in Adoer and its villages, and in all the cities that are along the banks of Arnon, three hundred years? Why did you not recover them within that time?

27 А я не виновен пред тобою, и ты делаешь мне зло, выступая против меня войной. Господь Судия да будет ныне судьею между сынами Израиля и между сынами Аммоновыми!

27 Now therefore I have not sinned against you, but you do me wrong to make war against me; let the LORD judge this day between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon.

28 Но царь сынов Аммоновых не послушал слов Иеффая, с которыми он посылал к нему.

28 But the king of the children of Ammon did not listen to the words of Jephthah which he sent him.

29 И сошел на Иеффая Дух Господень, и прошел он Галаад и Манассию, и прошел Массифу Галаадскую, и из Массифы Галаадской пошел к сынам Аммоновым.

29 Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead; and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over to the children of Ammon.

30 И дал Иеффай обет Господу, и сказал: если ты предашь сынов Аммоновых в руки мои,

30 And Jephthah vowed a vow to the LORD, and said, If thou wilt surely deliver the children of Ammon into my hands,

31 То, по возвращении моем с миром от сынов Аммоновых, что выйдет из дверей дома моего навстречу мне, будет Господне, и вознесу сие во всесожжение.
