Глава 9

1 Когда об этом услышали все цари к западу от Иордана – в нагорьях, в западных предгорьях и по всему побережью Средиземного моря до самого Ливана (цари хеттов, аморреев, хананеев, перизеев, иевусеев и хивеев),

2 они собрались вместе, чтобы воевать с Иешуа и Исраилом.

3 Но жители Гаваона, услышав о том, что Иешуа сделал с Иерихоном и Гаем,

4 прибегли к хитрости: они пошли, и собрали в дорогу еды, и нагрузили своих ослов ветхими мешками и ветхими бурдюками для вина, изорванными и заплатанными.

5 На ногах у них были поношенные и залатанные сандалии, их одежда также была очень ветхой. Весь хлеб, что они взяли с собой, был чёрствым и заплесневелым.

6 Они пришли к Иешуа в гилгалский лагерь и сказали ему и исраильтянам: – Мы пришли из далёкой страны. Заключите с нами союз.

7 Исраильтяне сказали хивеям: – А вдруг вы живёте рядом с нами? Как же нам тогда заключать с вами союз?

8 – Мы твои рабы, – сказали они Иешуа. Но Иешуа спросил: – Кто вы такие и откуда вы пришли?

9 Они ответили: – Твои рабы пришли из очень далёкой страны, узнав о славе Вечного, твоего Бога. Мы слышали о Нём: обо всём, что Он сделал в Египте,

10 и обо всём, что Он сделал с двумя царями аморреев к востоку от Иордана – с Сигоном, царём Хешбона, и Огом, царём Башана, который правил в Аштароте.

11 Наши старейшины и все жители нашей страны сказали нам: «Соберите в дорогу пищу, идите, встретьтесь с ними и скажите им: „Мы ваши рабы, заключите с нами союз“».

12 Вот наш хлеб. Он был ещё тёплым, когда, отправляясь к вам, мы дома запасались им в дорогу. Но посмотрите теперь, как он зачерствел и заплесневел.

13 А эти бурдюки для вина, когда мы их наполняли, были новыми, но посмотрите, как они изорвались теперь. А наша одежда и сандалии совсем износились за долгую дорогу.

14 Исраильтяне в знак мира взяли и ели из их припасов, но не спросили Вечного.

15 И Иешуа заключил с ними мир, охраняя их жизни договором, а вожди народа скрепили его клятвой.

16 Спустя три дня после того, как они заключили союз с гаваонитянами, исраильтяне узнали, что это их соседи, живущие рядом.

17 Тогда исраильтяне отправились в путь и на третий день пришли к их городам – Гаваону, Кефире, Беэроту и Кириат-Иеариму.

18 Но исраильтяне не напали на них, потому что вожди народа поклялись им Вечным, Богом Исраила. Весь народ роптал против вождей,

19 но они ответили: – Мы поклялись им Вечным, Богом Исраила, и не можем теперь тронуть их.

20 Вот что мы сделаем с ними: мы оставим их в живых, чтобы на нас не обрушился гнев за нарушение клятвы, которую мы им дали.

21 И вожди народа продолжили: – Пусть они живут, но будут дровосеками и водоносами для всего нашего общества. Так обещание вождей не было нарушено.

22 Иешуа призвал гаваонитян и сказал: – Почему вы обманули нас, сказав: «Мы живём далеко от вас», тогда как вы живёте рядом с нами?

23 Теперь вы прокляты. Вы всегда будете работать дровосеками и водоносами для дома моего Бога.

24 Они ответили Иешуа: – Твои рабы узнали наверняка, что Вечный, твой Бог, повелел Своему рабу Мусе отдать вам всю эту землю и истребить перед вами всех её жителей. Мы очень испугались за свою жизнь и потому поступили так.

25 Теперь мы в твоих руках. Поступай с нами, как сочтёшь лучшим и справедливым.

26 И Иешуа защитил их от исраильтян, и те не убили их.

27 В тот день он сделал гаваонитян дровосеками и водоносами для народа и для жертвенника Вечного на том месте, какое бы Вечный ни избирал. Они делают это и до сих пор.

1 And it came1961 to pass, when all3605 the kings4428 which834 were on this side5676 Jordan,3383 in the hills,2022 and in the valleys,8219 and in all3605 the coasts2348 of the great1419 sea3220 over413 4136 against4136 Lebanon,3844 the Hittite,2850 and the Amorite,567 the Canaanite,3669 the Perizzite,6522 the Hivite,2340 and the Jebusite,2983 heard8085 thereof;

2 That they gathered6908 themselves together,3162 to fight3898 with Joshua3091 and with Israel,3478 with one259 accord.6310

3 And when the inhabitants3427 of Gibeon1391 heard8085 what853 834 Joshua3091 had done6213 to Jericho3405 and to Ai,5857

4 They did6213 work6213 wilily,6195 and went3212 and made as if they had been ambassadors,6735 and took3947 old1087 sacks8242 on their asses,2543 and wine3196 bottles,4997 old,1087 and rent,1234 and bound6887 up;

5 And old1087 shoes5275 and clouted2921 on their feet,7272 and old1087 garments8008 on them; and all3605 the bread3899 of their provision6718 was dry3001 and moldy.5350

6 And they went3212 to Joshua3091 to the camp4264 at Gilgal,1537 and said559 to him, and to the men376 of Israel,3478 We be come935 from a far7350 country:776 now6258 therefore make3772 you a league1285 with us.

7 And the men376 of Israel3478 said559 to the Hivites,2340 Peradventure194 you dwell3427 among7130 us; and how349 shall we make3772 a league1285 with you?

8 And they said559 to Joshua,3091 We are your servants.5650 And Joshua3091 said559 to them, Who4310 are you? and from from where370 come935 you?

9 And they said559 to him, From a very3966 far7350 country776 your servants5650 are come935 because of the name8034 of the LORD3068 your God:430 for we have heard8085 the fame8089 of him, and all3605 that he did6213 in Egypt,4714

10 And all3605 that he did6213 to the two8147 kings4428 of the Amorites,567 that were beyond5676 Jordan,3383 to Sihon5511 king4428 of Heshbon,2809 and to Og5747 king4428 of Bashan,1316 which834 was at Ashtaroth.6252

11 Why our elders2205 and all3605 the inhabitants3427 of our country776 spoke559 to us, saying,559 Take3947 victuals6720 with you for the journey,1870 and go3212 to meet7125 them, and say559 to them, We are your servants:5650 therefore now6258 make3772 you a league1285 with us.

12 This2088 our bread3899 we took hot2525 for our provision6679 out of our houses1004 on the day3117 we came3318 forth3318 to go3212 to you; but now,6258 behold,2009 it is dry,3001 and it is moldy:5350

13 And these428 bottles4997 of wine,3196 which834 we filled,4390 were new;2319 and, behold,2009 they be rent:1234 and these428 our garments8008 and our shoes5275 are become1086 old1086 by reason of the very3966 long7230 journey.1870

14 And the men582 took3947 of their victuals,6718 and asked7592 not counsel at the mouth6310 of the LORD.3068

15 And Joshua3091 made6213 peace7965 with them, and made6213 a league1285 with them, to let them live:2421 and the princes5387 of the congregation5712 swore7650 to them.

16 And it came1961 to pass at the end7097 of three7969 days3117 after310 they had made3772 a league1285 with them, that they heard8085 that they were their neighbors,7138 and that they dwelled3427 among7130 them.

17 And the children1121 of Israel3478 journeyed,5265 and came935 to their cities5892 on the third7992 day.3117 Now their cities5892 were Gibeon,1391 and Chephirah,3716 and Beeroth,881 and Kirjathjearim.7157

18 And the children1121 of Israel3478 smote5221 them not, because3588 the princes5387 of the congregation5712 had sworn7650 to them by the LORD3068 God430 of Israel.3478 And all3605 the congregation5712 murmured3885 against5921 the princes.5387

19 But all3605 the princes5387 said559 to all3605 the congregation,5712 We have sworn7650 to them by the LORD3068 God430 of Israel:3478 now6258 therefore we may3201 not touch5060 them.

20 This2063 we will do6213 to them; we will even let them live,2421 lest3808 wrath7110 be on us, because5921 of the oath7621 which834 we swore7650 to them.

21 And the princes5387 said559 to them, Let them live;2421 but let them be hewers2404 of wood6086 and drawers7579 of water4325 to all3605 the congregation;5712 as the princes5387 had promised1696 them.

22 And Joshua3091 called7121 for them, and he spoke1696 to them, saying,559 Why4100 have you beguiled7411 us, saying,559 We are very3966 far7350 from you; when you dwell3427 among7130 us?

23 Now6258 therefore you are cursed,779 and there shall none3808 of you be freed3772 from being slaves,5650 and hewers2404 of wood6086 and drawers7579 of water4325 for the house1004 of my God.430

24 And they answered6030 Joshua,3091 and said,559 Because3588 it was certainly told5046 your servants,5650 how that the LORD3068 your God430 commanded6680 his servant5650 Moses4872 to give5414 you all3605 the land,776 and to destroy8045 all3605 the inhabitants3427 of the land776 from before6440 you, therefore we were sore3966 afraid3372 of our lives5315 because6440 of you, and have done6213 this2088 thing.1697

25 And now,6258 behold,2005 we are in your hand:3027 as it seems5869 good2896 and right3477 to you to do6213 to us, do.6213

26 And so3651 did6213 he to them, and delivered5337 them out of the hand3027 of the children1121 of Israel,3478 that they slew2026 them not.

27 And Joshua3091 made5414 them that day3117 hewers2404 of wood6086 and drawers7579 of water4325 for the congregation,5712 and for the altar4196 of the LORD,3068 even to this2088 day,3117 in the place4725 which834 he should choose.977

6 Они пришли к Иешуа в гилгалский лагерь и сказали ему и исраильтянам: – Мы пришли из далёкой страны. Заключите с нами союз.

6 And they went3212 to Joshua3091 to the camp4264 at Gilgal,1537 and said559 to him, and to the men376 of Israel,3478 We be come935 from a far7350 country:776 now6258 therefore make3772 you a league1285 with us.

7 Исраильтяне сказали хивеям: – А вдруг вы живёте рядом с нами? Как же нам тогда заключать с вами союз?

7 And the men376 of Israel3478 said559 to the Hivites,2340 Peradventure194 you dwell3427 among7130 us; and how349 shall we make3772 a league1285 with you?

8 – Мы твои рабы, – сказали они Иешуа. Но Иешуа спросил: – Кто вы такие и откуда вы пришли?

8 And they said559 to Joshua,3091 We are your servants.5650 And Joshua3091 said559 to them, Who4310 are you? and from from where370 come935 you?

9 Они ответили: – Твои рабы пришли из очень далёкой страны, узнав о славе Вечного, твоего Бога. Мы слышали о Нём: обо всём, что Он сделал в Египте,

13 And these428 bottles4997 of wine,3196 which834 we filled,4390 were new;2319 and, behold,2009 they be rent:1234 and these428 our garments8008 and our shoes5275 are become1086 old1086 by reason of the very3966 long7230 journey.1870

14 Исраильтяне в знак мира взяли и ели из их припасов, но не спросили Вечного.

21 And the princes5387 said559 to them, Let them live;2421 but let them be hewers2404 of wood6086 and drawers7579 of water4325 to all3605 the congregation;5712 as the princes5387 had promised1696 them.

22 Иешуа призвал гаваонитян и сказал: – Почему вы обманули нас, сказав: «Мы живём далеко от вас», тогда как вы живёте рядом с нами?

22 And Joshua3091 called7121 for them, and he spoke1696 to them, saying,559 Why4100 have you beguiled7411 us, saying,559 We are very3966 far7350 from you; when you dwell3427 among7130 us?

23 Теперь вы прокляты. Вы всегда будете работать дровосеками и водоносами для дома моего Бога.

24 Они ответили Иешуа: – Твои рабы узнали наверняка, что Вечный, твой Бог, повелел Своему рабу Мусе отдать вам всю эту землю и истребить перед вами всех её жителей. Мы очень испугались за свою жизнь и потому поступили так.

24 And they answered6030 Joshua,3091 and said,559 Because3588 it was certainly told5046 your servants,5650 how that the LORD3068 your God430 commanded6680 his servant5650 Moses4872 to give5414 you all3605 the land,776 and to destroy8045 all3605 the inhabitants3427 of the land776 from before6440 you, therefore we were sore3966 afraid3372 of our lives5315 because6440 of you, and have done6213 this2088 thing.1697

25 Теперь мы в твоих руках. Поступай с нами, как сочтёшь лучшим и справедливым.

25 And now,6258 behold,2005 we are in your hand:3027 as it seems5869 good2896 and right3477 to you to do6213 to us, do.6213

26 И Иешуа защитил их от исраильтян, и те не убили их.

26 And so3651 did6213 he to them, and delivered5337 them out of the hand3027 of the children1121 of Israel,3478 that they slew2026 them not.

27 В тот день он сделал гаваонитян дровосеками и водоносами для народа и для жертвенника Вечного на том месте, какое бы Вечный ни избирал. Они делают это и до сих пор.

27 And Joshua3091 made5414 them that day3117 hewers2404 of wood6086 and drawers7579 of water4325 for the congregation,5712 and for the altar4196 of the LORD,3068 even to this2088 day,3117 in the place4725 which834 he should choose.977
