Глава 13

1 Мудрый сын помнит отеческое наставленье, а бесстыдный — не принимает обличений.

2 От плода уст своих человек вкусит добро, а душа вероломных лишь жаждет насилия.

3 Кто сдержан в речах — жизнь свою сбережет, а кто рта не закрывает — погубит себя.

4 Гложет праздного голод, да утолить его нечем, а усердный будет есть досыта.

5 Лживое слово ненавистно праведнику, а нечестивец себя запятнает и опозорит.

6 Праведность ограждает тех, чей путь непорочен, а грешника погубит его нечестие.

7 Иной, ничего не имея, выдает себя за богатого, другой же при большом состоянии прибедняется.

8 Бывает, что богатством своим человек выкупает себе жизнь, а бедный и угрозы не услышит.

9 Радостен свет у праведных, а светильник нечестивых погаснет.

10 Легковесный человек разжигает ссоры, но среди тех, кто ищет совета, — мудрость.

11 Богатство случайное рассеется, а собранное многими трудами — приумножится.

12 Отдаленная надежда сердце томит, но исполнение желаний древу жизни подобно.

13 Презрение к слову губит человека, а кто почитает заповедь — получит награду.

14 Учение мудреца — живительный родник, уберегающий от гибельной западни.

15 Благоразумие завоевывает расположение людей, а путь коварных ведет к погибели.

16 Всякий разумный человек действует со знанием дела, а глупец и не скрывает своего невежества.

17 Лживый посыльный в беду попадет, а надежный вестник несет исцеление.

18 Отвергающий наставленье обрекает себя на нищету и позор, а кто принимает обличение — будет почитаем.

19 Исполнение желаний приносит радость, но невыносимо глупцу сторониться зла.

20 Вместе с мудрым пойдешь — сам мудрее станешь, с глупцами свяжешься — будешь страдать.

21 Грешников зло преследует, а праведникам воздастся добром.

22 Добрый оставит наследство и внукам, а богатство грешника достанется праведнику.

23 И на поле бедняка бывает богатый урожай, но от беззакония пропадает.

24 Кто скуп на розги, тот сына своего ненавидит, а кто любит — старается вразумить его.

25 Праведник ест, пока не наестся, а чрево нечестивцев не насыщается.

Proverbs

Chapter 13

1 WISE son hears his father's instructions; but an evil son does not listen to rebuke.

2 A good man shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; but the souls of the wicked shall perish.

3 He who guards his mouth keeps his life; he who speaks too much shall bring ruin upon himself.

4 A sluggard is always craving; but the soul of the diligent shall be enriched.

5 A righteous man hates lying; but a wicked man is loathsome, and shall be ashamed and confounded.

6 Righteousness keeps him that is upright in his way; but wickedness overthrows the sinner.

7 There are some who pretend to be rich, yet have nothing; there are others who pretend to be poor, yet have great riches.

8 The ransom of a man's life is his riches; but the poor ignores a rebuke.

9 The light of the righteous shall rejoice; but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

10 A wicked man commits shameful things; but with the well-advised is wisdom.

11 Wealth acquired unjustly will diminish; but he who gathers justly shall increase his wealth.

12 Blessed is the man who is willing to help; more blessed is he than he who merely rests in hope, as a tree of life he bears fruit.

13 He who despises counsel shall be destroyed by it; but he who fears the commandment shall be spared. A deceitful man shall not benefit; but a wise man whose works are good shall prosper.

14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life to those who depart from the snares of death.

15 Good understanding brings mercy; but the way of transgressors leads to destruction.

16 Every prudent man deals wisely; but a fool speaks foolishness.

17 A wicked messenger falls into mischief; but a faithful ambassador is a healer.

18 Poverty and shame shall be to him who refuses instruction; but he who regards reproof shall be honored.

19 A noble desire is sweet to the soul; but the abomination of the wicked is far away from knowledge.

20 He who walks with wise men shall be wise; but a companion of fools shall suffer harm.

21 Evil pursues sinners; but to the righteous good shall be repaid.

22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children; and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous.

23 Those who do not understand the manner of life are destroyed by riches; yea, many men are destroyed completely.

24 He who spares his rod hates his son; but he who loves his son disciplines him diligently.

25 The righteous man eats and is satisfied; but the belly of the wicked shall want.
