Глава 25

1 Положим, два человека обращаются в суд со своей тяжбой, и одного из них там признают правым, а другого виновным.

2 Если виновный подлежит телесному наказанию, его по распоряжению судьи и на глазах у того кладут вниз лицом и дают ему столько ударов, сколько заслуживает его преступление.

3 До сорока ударов ему могут присудить, но не более, чтобы из-за большего числа ударов, нанесенных твоему брату, израильтянину, он не оказался унижен пред всеми.

4 Не завязывай рта волу, когда он молотит зерно.

5 Когда братья живут вместе на одном и том же земельном участке и один из них умирает, не оставив после себя наследника, то его вдова не может выйти замуж на стороне, за чужого человека. Брат покойного мужа ее должен пойти к ней, взять ее в жены и выполнить по отношению к ней обязанности деверя.

6 Однако первенец, которого она родит в этом браке, продолжит род умершего брата, чтобы имя его не исчезло бесследно в Израиле.

7 Если же брат покойного не захочет взять невестку в жены, пусть она пойдет к городским воротам и скажет старейшинам города: „Деверь мой отказывается продолжить род брата своего в Израиле, не хочет жениться на мне“.

8 Тогда старейшины того города должны будут позвать его и поговорить с ним. Если же он заупрямится и будет стоять на своем: не хочу, мол, брать ее,

9 пусть невестка подойдет к нему и на виду у старейшин снимет с ноги его сандалию, плюнет ему в лицо и скажет: „Вот так воздают тому, кто отказывается созидать семью брату своему“.

10 И род такого человека будет называться в Израиле „родом разутого“.

11 Если во время драки двух мужчин жена одного из них, пытаясь помочь своему мужу, схватит напавшего на него за причинное место,

12 следует отрубить ей руку — не жалейте ее.

13 Не носи в суме своей двух разных мер, гирь больших и малых.

14 Также и в доме твоем не должно быть двух разных эф, большей и малой.

15 Гиря у тебя должна быть всегда безупречно точного веса, и эфа ваша должна быть верного, точного размера; и тогда будешь наслаждаться долгою жизнью на земле, которую дарует тебе ГОСПОДЬ, Бог твой.

16 Всякий, кто это делает, кто допускает нечестность, мерзок ГОСПОДУ, Богу твоему.

17 Помните, как поступили с вами амалекитяне, когда шли вы из Египта,

18 как они напали на вас в пути, — на тех, что шли позади всех, слабых и измученных, и не побоялись они Бога!

19 Потому вы, когда ГОСПОДЬ, Бог ваш, даст вам покой, защитив со всех сторон от всех врагов ваших, в той земле, которую ГОСПОДЬ, Бог ваш, дарует вам в наследство, сделайте так, чтобы нигде под небесами и памяти об амалекитянах не осталось. Не забудьте!

Chapter 25

1 IF there is a lawsuit between a man and his neighbor, they shall come before the judges, and the judges shall judge them; and they shall acquit the innocent, and condemn the guilty.

2 And it shall be, if the guilty man deserves punishment, the judge shall cause him to lie down, and have him flogged in his presence, according to his offense, with a certain number of stripes.

3 Forty stripes he may give him, but not more; test, if he should exceed, and scourge him above this number of stripes, then your brother would be hurt severely before your eyes.

4 You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain.

5 When brothers dwell together, and one of them dies, and has no son, the wife of the dead shall not marry to a stranger; but her husband's brother shall take her, and she shall become his wife, and he shall perform the duty of a brother-in-law to her.

6 And it shall be, that the first-born which she bears shall be named after the name of his brother who is dead, that his name may not be forgotten in Israel.

7 And if the man refuses to take his brother's wife, then let his brother's wife go up to the gate to the elders, and say, My brother-in-law refuses to raise up to his brother a name in Israel, and is unwilling to take me as a wife.

8 Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak to him; and if he should rise up and say, I will not take her;

9 Then his sister-in-law shall come to him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, and say, So shall it be done to the man who will not raise a family to his brother.

10 And his name shall be called in Israel, the house of him that has his shoe loosed.

11 When two brothers are fighting, and the wife of one draws near to deliver her husband out of the hands of his adversary, and puts forth her hand, and seizes him by the private parts;

12 Then you shall cut off her hand; your eye shall not pity her.

13 You shall not have in your bag different weights, a large and a small.

14 You shall not have in your house different measures, a large and a small.

15 But you shall have a perfect and just weight; a perfect and a just measure shall you have, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the LORD your God gives you.

16 For all who do such things and all who act wickedly are an abomination before the LORD Your God.

17 Remember all that Amalek did to you by the way, when you came forth out of Egypt;

18 How he met you with the sword, and smote all of those who were left behind you, when you were faint and weary, and he feared not the LORD your God.

19 Therefore when the LORD your God has given you rest from all your enemies round about, in the land which the LORD your God gives you as an inheritance, you shall blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; you shall not forget it.

2 And it shall be, if the guilty man deserves punishment, the judge shall cause him to lie down, and have him flogged in his presence, according to his offense, with a certain number of stripes.

3 До сорока ударов ему могут присудить, но не более, чтобы из-за большего числа ударов, нанесенных твоему брату, израильтянину, он не оказался унижен пред всеми.

3 Forty stripes he may give him, but not more; test, if he should exceed, and scourge him above this number of stripes, then your brother would be hurt severely before your eyes.

4 You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain.

5 Когда братья живут вместе на одном и том же земельном участке и один из них умирает, не оставив после себя наследника, то его вдова не может выйти замуж на стороне, за чужого человека. Брат покойного мужа ее должен пойти к ней, взять ее в жены и выполнить по отношению к ней обязанности деверя.

5 When brothers dwell together, and one of them dies, and has no son, the wife of the dead shall not marry to a stranger; but her husband's brother shall take her, and she shall become his wife, and he shall perform the duty of a brother-in-law to her.

6 Однако первенец, которого она родит в этом браке, продолжит род умершего брата, чтобы имя его не исчезло бесследно в Израиле.

6 And it shall be, that the first-born which she bears shall be named after the name of his brother who is dead, that his name may not be forgotten in Israel.

7 Если же брат покойного не захочет взять невестку в жены, пусть она пойдет к городским воротам и скажет старейшинам города: „Деверь мой отказывается продолжить род брата своего в Израиле, не хочет жениться на мне“.

7 And if the man refuses to take his brother's wife, then let his brother's wife go up to the gate to the elders, and say, My brother-in-law refuses to raise up to his brother a name in Israel, and is unwilling to take me as a wife.

8 Тогда старейшины того города должны будут позвать его и поговорить с ним. Если же он заупрямится и будет стоять на своем: не хочу, мол, брать ее,

8 Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak to him; and if he should rise up and say, I will not take her;

9 пусть невестка подойдет к нему и на виду у старейшин снимет с ноги его сандалию, плюнет ему в лицо и скажет: „Вот так воздают тому, кто отказывается созидать семью брату своему“.

9 Then his sister-in-law shall come to him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, and say, So shall it be done to the man who will not raise a family to his brother.

10 И род такого человека будет называться в Израиле „родом разутого“.

10 And his name shall be called in Israel, the house of him that has his shoe loosed.

11 Если во время драки двух мужчин жена одного из них, пытаясь помочь своему мужу, схватит напавшего на него за причинное место,

11 When two brothers are fighting, and the wife of one draws near to deliver her husband out of the hands of his adversary, and puts forth her hand, and seizes him by the private parts;

12 следует отрубить ей руку — не жалейте ее.

12 Then you shall cut off her hand; your eye shall not pity her.

13 Не носи в суме своей двух разных мер, гирь больших и малых.

13 You shall not have in your bag different weights, a large and a small.

14 Также и в доме твоем не должно быть двух разных эф, большей и малой.

14 You shall not have in your house different measures, a large and a small.

15 Гиря у тебя должна быть всегда безупречно точного веса, и эфа ваша должна быть верного, точного размера; и тогда будешь наслаждаться долгою жизнью на земле, которую дарует тебе ГОСПОДЬ, Бог твой.

15 But you shall have a perfect and just weight; a perfect and a just measure shall you have, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the LORD your God gives you.

16 Всякий, кто это делает, кто допускает нечестность, мерзок ГОСПОДУ, Богу твоему.

16 For all who do such things and all who act wickedly are an abomination before the LORD Your God.

17 Помните, как поступили с вами амалекитяне, когда шли вы из Египта,

17 Remember all that Amalek did to you by the way, when you came forth out of Egypt;

18 как они напали на вас в пути, — на тех, что шли позади всех, слабых и измученных, и не побоялись они Бога!

18 How he met you with the sword, and smote all of those who were left behind you, when you were faint and weary, and he feared not the LORD your God.

19 Потому вы, когда ГОСПОДЬ, Бог ваш, даст вам покой, защитив со всех сторон от всех врагов ваших, в той земле, которую ГОСПОДЬ, Бог ваш, дарует вам в наследство, сделайте так, чтобы нигде под небесами и памяти об амалекитянах не осталось. Не забудьте!

19 Therefore when the LORD your God has given you rest from all your enemies round about, in the land which the LORD your God gives you as an inheritance, you shall blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; you shall not forget it.
