Chapter 45

1 THEN Joseph could no longer control his emotions before all those who stood in his presence; and he said, Cause everyone to go out from me. And there remained no one with him when Joseph made himself known to his brothers.

2 And he wept aloud; and the Egyptians and the household of Pharaoh heard it.

3 And Joseph said to his brothers, I am Joseph your brother; is my father still alive? But his brothers could not answer him because they were afraid at his presence.

4 And Joseph said to his brothers, Come near to me; and they came near. And he said to them, I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold to the Egyptians.

5 Now do not be grieved, nor displeased with yourselves, that you sold me here; for it was to provide for you that God sent me before you.

6 For behold the famine has been in the land for two years; and yet there are five years, in which there will be no one that sows or that reaps.

7 And God sent me before you to preserve you a remnant on the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.

8 So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and he has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord over all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

9 Hasten, and go up to my father, and say to him, Thus says your son Joseph, God has made me lord over all Egypt; come down to me, do not delay;

10 And you shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near me, you and your children and your children's children and your flocks and your herds and all that you have;

11 And there I will provide for you; for the famine will yet last five years more; lest you, your household, and all that you have perish.

12 And, behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my mouth that speaks to you.

13 And you must tell my father of all my glory in Egypt and of all that you have seen; and you shall hasten and bring down my father here.

14 Then he fell upon his brother Benjamin's neck and wept; and Benjamin wept upon his neck.

15 Moreover he kissed all his brothers and wept upon them; and after that, his brothers talked with him.

16 And the news of their meeting was reported in Pharaoh's house, saying, Joseph's brothers are come; and the news pleased Pharaoh well, and his servants.

17 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, Say to your brothers, Do this: load your beasts with wheat, and go, and carry it to the land of Canaan;

18 And take your father and your households, and come to me; and I will give you the best of the land of Egypt, and you shall eat of the fat of the land.

19 Behold, you are the governor; say to your brothers, Do this: take wagons from the land of Egypt for your wives and for your little ones, and bring your father, and come.

20 And do not regard your stuff which you leave behind; for the choicest of all the land of Egypt is yours.

21 And the sons of Israel did so; and Joseph gave them wagons, according to the command of Pharaoh, and gave them provisions for the journey.

22 To all of them he gave each man two pairs of garments; but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver and five pairs of garments.

23 And to his father he sent after this manner: ten asses laden with the good things of Egypt, and ten she-asses laden with wheat, wine, and provisions for his father's journey.

24 So he sent his brothers away, and they departed; and he said to them, Quarrel not on the journey.

25 And they went up out of Egypt, and came to the land of Canaan to their father Jacob.

26 And they told him, saying, Joseph is still alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt. But Jacob disregarded their story, for he did not believe them.

27 And they told him all the words which Joseph had said to them; and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, their father Jacob was content.

28 And he said, This is great news for me, for my son Joseph is still alive; I will go and see him before I die.

1 Иосиф не мог больше совладать с собой и заплакал на глазах у всех, кто стоял возле него. «Пусть все выйдут», — приказал Иосиф, и все вышли; братья же остались с Иосифом наедине. Тогда Иосиф рассказал им, кто он такой.

2 Он громко рыдал, и все египтяне при дворе фараона услышали его плач.

3 «Я — брат ваш Иосиф! — сказал он своим братьям. — Здоров ли отец мой?» Но братья, смущенные и испуганные, ничего не отвечали.

4 И снова Иосиф обратился к братьям: «Подойдите ко мне, прошу вас, подойдите сюда». Братья приблизились к Иосифу, и он сказал им: «Я — брат ваш Иосиф, тот самый, которого вы продали в рабство в Египет.

5 Но не печальтесь и не вините себя за то, что сделали. Бог определил заранее, чтобы я пришёл в Египет. Я здесь, чтобы спасти вас.

6 Этот ужасный голод продолжается вот уже два года, и будет ещё пять лет без сева и жатвы.

7 Бог послал меня сюда перед вами, чтобы я спас ваши семьи в этой стране.

8 Не ваша вина, что я был послан сюда, — это был промысел Господний. Бог поставил меня отцом фараону, и я — управляющий его дома и правитель всего Египта».

9 Затем Иосиф сказал: «Отправляйтесь же поскорее к моему отцу и скажите, что его сын Иосиф посылает ему такую весть: „Бог поставил меня правителем Египта. Так приди же ко мне и не медли.

10 Можешь поселиться поблизости от меня в земле Гесем: ты, твои дети, внуки и весь твой скот —

11 и я позабочусь о том, чтобы в течение пяти голодных лет ни ты, ни твоя семья не потеряли то, чем владеете”».

12 Иосиф также сказал своим братьям: «Ведь вы же видите, что это я, Иосиф. Даже брат мой Вениамин знает, что это я, ваш брат, говорю с вами.

13 Так расскажите моему отцу о том, каким почётом я окружён здесь, в Египте, расскажите обо всём, что видели здесь. Теперь же отправляйтесь поскорее и приведите ко мне моего отца».

14 Тогда Иосиф обнял Вениамина, брата своего, и оба они расплакались.

15 Затем Иосиф расцеловал всех своих братьев и, плача, обнимал их. Только после этого братья решились заговорить с Иосифом.

16 Египетский царь узнал, что к Иосифу пришли братья. Эта весть облетела весь двор фараона, и тогда он и его придворные ей очень обрадовались.

17 Затем царь сказал Иосифу: «Скажи своим братьям, чтобы они взяли еды сколько нужно и отправились обратно в Ханаан.

18 Прикажи, чтобы они привели сюда обратно ко мне твоего отца и свои семьи. Я дам тебе самую лучшую землю в Египте, и твоя семья будет есть самую лучшую еду, какая у нас есть».

19 И ещё сказал фараон: «Дай твоим братьям наши самые лучшие повозки. Распорядись, чтобы они отправились в Ханаан и привезли сюда твоего отца и всех женщин и детей.

20 И пусть не беспокоятся о том, как перевести своё имущество, мы дадим им всё самое лучшее, что у нас есть в Египте».

21 Сыновья Израиля так и сделали. Иосиф дал им хорошие колесницы, как обещал фараон, и дал достаточно еды на дорогу.

22 Иосиф дал каждому брату смену красивой одежды, а Вениамину подарил пять смен и триста серебряных монет.

23 Иосиф также послал подарки и своему отцу: десять ослов, навьюченных мешками со всяким добром, и ещё десять ослиц, навьюченных мешками с зерном, хлебом и всякой другой едой для отца на обратную дорогу,

24 а затем велел братьям отправляться в путь. Когда же они уходили, Иосиф сказал им: «Идите прямо домой и в дороге не ссорьтесь».

25 Тогда братья ушли из Египта и отправились к своему отцу в Ханаан.

26 Они сказали ему: «Отец, Иосиф жив! Он — правитель всей Египетской страны!» Их отец не знал, что и думать. Сначала он не поверил им,

27 но, когда они рассказали ему обо всём, что сказал Иосиф, и, когда Иаков увидел повозки, которые Иосиф послал за ним, чтобы привезти его в Египет, он очень обрадовался, и его счастью не было предела.

28 И сказал Израиль: «Теперь я верю, что сын мой Иосиф ещё жив и я увижу его перед смертью!»

4 And Joseph said to his brothers, Come near to me; and they came near. And he said to them, I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold to the Egyptians.

5 Now do not be grieved, nor displeased with yourselves, that you sold me here; for it was to provide for you that God sent me before you.

5 Но не печальтесь и не вините себя за то, что сделали. Бог определил заранее, чтобы я пришёл в Египет. Я здесь, чтобы спасти вас.

6 For behold the famine has been in the land for two years; and yet there are five years, in which there will be no one that sows or that reaps.

6 Этот ужасный голод продолжается вот уже два года, и будет ещё пять лет без сева и жатвы.

8 So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and he has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord over all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

9 Hasten, and go up to my father, and say to him, Thus says your son Joseph, God has made me lord over all Egypt; come down to me, do not delay;

9 Затем Иосиф сказал: «Отправляйтесь же поскорее к моему отцу и скажите, что его сын Иосиф посылает ему такую весть: „Бог поставил меня правителем Египта. Так приди же ко мне и не медли.

10 Можешь поселиться поблизости от меня в земле Гесем: ты, твои дети, внуки и весь твой скот —

11 и я позабочусь о том, чтобы в течение пяти голодных лет ни ты, ни твоя семья не потеряли то, чем владеете”».

12 And, behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my mouth that speaks to you.

12 Иосиф также сказал своим братьям: «Ведь вы же видите, что это я, Иосиф. Даже брат мой Вениамин знает, что это я, ваш брат, говорю с вами.

13 And you must tell my father of all my glory in Egypt and of all that you have seen; and you shall hasten and bring down my father here.

13 Так расскажите моему отцу о том, каким почётом я окружён здесь, в Египте, расскажите обо всём, что видели здесь. Теперь же отправляйтесь поскорее и приведите ко мне моего отца».

14 Then he fell upon his brother Benjamin's neck and wept; and Benjamin wept upon his neck.

16 Египетский царь узнал, что к Иосифу пришли братья. Эта весть облетела весь двор фараона, и тогда он и его придворные ей очень обрадовались.

17 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, Say to your brothers, Do this: load your beasts with wheat, and go, and carry it to the land of Canaan;

17 Затем царь сказал Иосифу: «Скажи своим братьям, чтобы они взяли еды сколько нужно и отправились обратно в Ханаан.

19 И ещё сказал фараон: «Дай твоим братьям наши самые лучшие повозки. Распорядись, чтобы они отправились в Ханаан и привезли сюда твоего отца и всех женщин и детей.
