Chapter 11

1 NOW the whole earth spoke one language and with one manner of speech.

2 And it came to pass, as men journeyed from the east, they found a plain in the land of Sinar; and they settled there.

3 And they said one to another, Come, let us make bricks and burn them with fire. And they had bricks for stone, and slime for mortar.

4 Then they said, Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top may reach to heaven; and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower which men were building.

6 And the LORD said, Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language; and they have reasoned to do this thing; and now nothing will prevent them from doing that which they have imagined to do.

7 Come, let us go down, and there divide their language so that they may not understand one another's speech.

8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from there upon the face of all the earth; and they ceased from building the city.

9 Therefore they called the name of it Babel; because it was there that the LORD confounded the language of all the earth; and from there the LORD scattered them upon the face of all the earth.

10 These are the descendants of Shem: Shem was a hundred years old, and begot Arphakhashar, two years after the flood;

11 And Shem lived after he begot Arphakhashar five hundred years, and begot sons and daughters.

12 And Arphakhashar lived thirty-five years, and begot Shalah;

13 And Arphakhashar lived after he begot Shalah four hundred and three years, and begot sons and daughters.

14 And Shalah lived thirty years, and begot Eber;

15 And Shalah lived after he begot Eber four hundred and three years, and begot sons and daughters.

16 And Eber lived thirty-four years, and begot Peleg:

17 And Eber lived after he begot Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begot sons and daughters.

18 And Peleg lived thirty years, and begot Rau;

19 And Peleg lived after he begot Rau two hundred and nine years, and begot sons and daughters.

20 And Rau lived thirty-two years, and begot Serug;

21 And Rau lived after he begot Serug two hundred and seven years, and begot sons and daughters.

22 And Serug lived thirty years, and begot Nahor;

23 And Serug lived after he begot Nahor two hundred years, and begot sons and daughters.

24 And Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and begot Terah;

25 And Nahor lived after he begot Terah one hundred and nineteen years, and begot sons and daughters.

26 And Terah lived seventy-five years, and begot Abram, manor, and Haran.

27 Now these are the descendants of Terah: Terah begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begot Lot.

28 And Haran died before his father Terah in his native land, in Ur of the Chaldeans.

29 And Abram and Nahor took wives for themselves; the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah and Iscah.

30 But Sarai was barren; she had no child.

31 And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan: and they came as far as Haran, and they settled there.

32 And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years; and Terah died in Haran.

2 И случилось, что люди, двинувшись с Востока, нашли в земле Сеннаар равнину и поселились там.

4 Далее они сказали: построим себе город и башню, высотою до небес; и сделаем себе имя, чтобы нам не рассеяться по лицу всей земли.

5 Но Иегова сошел посмотреть город и башню, которые строили сыны человеческие.

6 И сказал Иегова: вот один народ и один у всех язык; и вот что начали они делать, и не будет у них остановки ни в чем, что они вздумали делать.

7 Пойдем же, и смешаем там язык их так, чтобы один не понимал речи другого.

8 Тогда Иегова рассеял их оттуда по всей земле; и они перестали строить город.

9 Посему дано имя ему Вавилон; ибо там смешал Иегова язык всей земли, и оттуда рассеял их Иегова по всей земле.

10 Вот родословие Сима: Сим был ста лет от рождения, когда родил Арфаксада, чрез два года после потопа.

11 По рождении Арфаксада, Сим жил пять сот лет, и родил сынов и дочерей.

12 Арфаксад жил тридцать пять лет, и родил Салу.

13 И жил Арфаксад по рождении Салы четыреста три года, и родил сынов и дочерей.

14 Сала жил тридцать лет, и родил Евера.

15 По рождении Евера, Сала жил четыреста три года, и родил сынов и дочерей.

16 Евер жил тридцать четыре года, и родил Фалека.

17 По рождении Фалека, Евер жил четыреста тридцать лет, и родил сынов и дочерей.

18 Фалек жил тридцать лет, и родил Рагава.

19 По рождении Рагава, Фалек жил двести девять лет, и родил сынов и дочерей.

20 Рагав жил тридцать два года, и родил Серуха.

21 По рождении Серуха, Рагав жил двести семь лет, и родил сынов и дочерей.

22 Серух жил тридцать лет, и родил Нахора.

23 По рождении Нахора, Серух жил двести лет, и родил сыновей и дочерей.

24 Нахор жил двадцать девять лет, и родил Фарру.

25 По рождении Фарры, Нахор жил сто девятнадцать лет, и родил сыновей и дочерей.

26 Фарра жил семьдесят лет, и родил Аврама, Нахора и Аррана.

27 Вот родословие Фарры. Фарра родил Аврама, Нахора и Аррана. Арран родил Лота.

28 И умер Арран пред лицем Фарры, отца своего, в земле рождения своего, в Уре, городе Халдейском.

29 Аврам и Нахор взяли себе жен; имя жены Аврамовой: Сара; имя жены Нахоровой: Милка, дочь Аррана, отца Милки и отца Иски.

30 Сара же была неплодна и бездетна.

31 И взял Фарра Аврама, сына своего, и Лота, сына Арранова, внука своего, и Сару, невестку свою, жену Аврама сына своего, и вышел с ними из Ура Халдейского, чтобы идти в землю Ханаанскую: но дошедши до Харрана, они остановились там.

32 И было дней жития Фаррина двести пять лет, и умер Фарра в Харране.

5 Но Иегова сошел посмотреть город и башню, которые строили сыны человеческие.

6 And the LORD said, Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language; and they have reasoned to do this thing; and now nothing will prevent them from doing that which they have imagined to do.

6 И сказал Иегова: вот один народ и один у всех язык; и вот что начали они делать, и не будет у них остановки ни в чем, что они вздумали делать.

7 Come, let us go down, and there divide their language so that they may not understand one another's speech.

7 Пойдем же, и смешаем там язык их так, чтобы один не понимал речи другого.

8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from there upon the face of all the earth; and they ceased from building the city.

8 Тогда Иегова рассеял их оттуда по всей земле; и они перестали строить город.

9 Therefore they called the name of it Babel; because it was there that the LORD confounded the language of all the earth; and from there the LORD scattered them upon the face of all the earth.

9 Посему дано имя ему Вавилон; ибо там смешал Иегова язык всей земли, и оттуда рассеял их Иегова по всей земле.

10 Вот родословие Сима: Сим был ста лет от рождения, когда родил Арфаксада, чрез два года после потопа.

11 And Shem lived after he begot Arphakhashar five hundred years, and begot sons and daughters.

12 And Arphakhashar lived thirty-five years, and begot Shalah;

18 And Peleg lived thirty years, and begot Rau;

19 And Peleg lived after he begot Rau two hundred and nine years, and begot sons and daughters.

20 And Rau lived thirty-two years, and begot Serug;

21 And Rau lived after he begot Serug two hundred and seven years, and begot sons and daughters.

26 And Terah lived seventy-five years, and begot Abram, manor, and Haran.

26 Фарра жил семьдесят лет, и родил Аврама, Нахора и Аррана.

27 Now these are the descendants of Terah: Terah begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begot Lot.

28 And Haran died before his father Terah in his native land, in Ur of the Chaldeans.

32 And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years; and Terah died in Haran.

32 И было дней жития Фаррина двести пять лет, и умер Фарра в Харране.
