Chapter 36

1 NOW these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom.

2 Esau took his wives from among the daughters of Canaan: Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, Aholibamah the daughter of Anah, the son of Zibeon the Hivite;

3 And Bismath, Ishmael's daughter, sister of Nebioth.

4 And Adah bore to Esau Eliphaz; and Bismath bore Reuel;

5 And Aholibamah bore Jeush, Jaalan, and Korah; these are the sons of Esau that were born to him in the land of Canaan.

6 And Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the persons of his household, and all his cattle, and all the wealth which he had acquired in the land of Canaan; and went to the land of Seir from the presence of his brother Jacob.

7 For their wealth was too great for them to dwell together; and the land in which they sojourned could not sustain them because of their cattle.

8 Thus Esau dwelt in mount Seir; Esau is Edom.

9 And these are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in mount Seir;

10 These are the names of Esau's sons: Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Bismath the wife of Esau.

11 And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatham, and Kenaz.

12 And Timna was a concubine of Eliphaz, Esau's son; and she bore to Eliphaz Amalek. These were the sons of Adah, Esau's wife.

13 And these are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah; these were the sons of Bismath, Esau's wife.

14 These are the sons of Aholibamah, the daughter of Anah the son of Zibeon, Esau's wife; and she bore to Esau Jeush, Jaalan, and Korah.

15 These are the chiefs of the sons of Esau, the sons of Eliphaz the first-born of Esau: chief Teman, chief Omar, chief Zepho, chief Kenaz,

16 Chief Gatham, chief Korah, and chief Amalek; these are the chiefs that came of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these were the sons of Adah.

17 And these are the sons of Reuel, Esau's son: chief Nahath, chief Zerah, chief Shammah, and chief Mizzah; these are the chiefs that came of Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Bismath, Esau's wife.

18 These are the sons of Aholibamah, Esau's wife: chief Jeush, chief Jaalan, and chief Korah; these were the sons of Aholibamah, the daughter of Anah, Esau's wife.

19 These are the sons of Esau, who is Edom, and these are their chiefs.

20 These are the sons of Seir the Horite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,

21 Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan; these are the chiefs of the Horites, the children of Seir in the land of Edom.

22 And the sons of Lotan were Hori and Heman; and Lotan's sister was Timna.

23 These are the sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shapar, and Oiam.

24 And these are the sons of Zibeon: Ana and Anah; he is the Anah who discovered water in the desert while he was feeding the asses of Zibeon his father.

25 These are the children of Anah: Dishon and Aholibamah, the daughter of Anah.

26 These are the sons of Dishon: Hemran, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran.

27 These are the sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.

28 These are the sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.

29 These are the chiefs of the Horites: chief Lotan, chief Shobal, chief Zibeon, chief Anah,

30 Chief Dishon, chief Ezer, and chief Dishan; these are the chiefs of the Horites, according to their chiefs in the land of Seir.

31 And these are the kings who reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Israel:

32 Bela, the son of Beor, reigned in Edom; and the name of his city was Dihab.

33 And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead.

34 And Jobab died, and Husham of the land of Teman reigned in his stead.

35 And Husham died, and Hadad, the son of Bedad, who smote the Midianites in the fields of Moab, reigned in his stead; and the name of his city was Gevith.

36 And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead.

37 And Samlah died, and Saul of Rehoboth by the river reigned in his stead.

38 And Saul died, and Baal-hanan, the son of Abcor, reigned in his stead.

39 And Baal-hanan, the son of Abcor died, and Hadad reigned in his stead; and the name of his city was Pau; and his wife's name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab.

40 And these are the names of the chiefs of Esau, according to their families, and according to their generations, by their names: chief Timnah, chief Anvah, chief Jetheth,

41 Chief Aholibamah, chief Elah, chief Pinon,

42 Chief Kenaz, chief Teman, chief Mibzar,

43 Chief Magdiel, chief Giram; these are the chiefs of the Edomites, according to their habitations in the land of their possession; Edom is Esau the father of the Edomites.

И тогда Исав забрал своих жён, сыновей, дочерей, всех своих рабов, скот и остальных животных, а также всё, что нажил в Ханаанской земле, и ушёл от брата в горы страны Сеир. (Исава также называли Едомом).

9 Вот родословная Исава, родоначальника народа Едома, жившего в горах Сеира:

10 у Исава и Ады был сын Елифаз, у Исава и Васемафы был сын Рагуил.

11 У Елифаза было пятеро сыновей: Феман, Омар, Цефо, Гафам и Кеназ.

12 У него была также наложница по имени Фимна, и от неё у него был сын по имени Амалик.

13 У Рагуила было четверо сыновей: Нахаф, Зара, Шамма и Миза, все они были внуки Исава и жены его Васемафы.

14 Третьей женой Исава была Оливема, дочь Аны, сына Цивеона; у Исава с Оливемой были дети: Иеус, Иеглом и Корей.

15 Вот какие семейства произошли от Исава: от первенца Исава Елифаза произошли семейства Фемана, Омара, Цефо, Кеназа,

16 Корея, Гафама и Амалика. Все эти семейства были из потомков жены Исава Ады.

17 Сын Исава Рагуил был родоначальником семейств Нахафа, Зара, Шамма и Миза. Все эти семейства являлись потомками жены Исава Васемафы.

18 Жена Исава Оливема родила Иеуса, Иеглома и Корея, и эти трое стали родоначальниками своих семейств.

19 Все эти семейства произошли от Исава (Едома).

20 До Исава в Едоме жил хорреянин Сеир. У него родились сыновья: Лотан, Шовал, Цивеон, Ана,

21 Дишон, Ецер и Дишан; каждый из них был хоррейским главой потомков Сеира в земле Едомской.

22 Сыновьями Лотана были: Хори и Еман. У Лотана была сестра по имени Фимна.

24 У Цивеона было два сына: Айя и Ана, тот самый, кто нашёл в горах горячие ключи, когда пас ослов своего отца.

25 Ана был отцом Дишона и Оливемы.

26 У Дишона были сыновья: Хемдан, Ешбан, Ифран и Керан.

27 У Ецера было три сына: Билган, Зааван и Акан.

28 У Дишана было два сына: Уц и Аран.

29 Вот имена глав хоррейских семейств: Лотан, Шовал, Цивеон, Ана,

30 Дишон, Ецер, Дишан. Они были главами семейств, которые жили в земле Сеир.

31 В те времена в Едоме правили цари; они были задолго до того, как появились цари у израильского народа.

39 После смерти Ваал-Ханана в той земле правил Гадад из города Пау. Жену Гадара звали Мегетавеель, отцом которой был Матреда, сын Мезагава.

40 Исав был родоначальником таких семейств, живущих в Едоме: семейства Фимны, Алвы, Иетефы, Оливемы, Елаха, Пинона, Кеназа, Фемана, Мивцара, Магдиила и Ирама. Каждый народ жил в местности, которая называлась по имени семейства.
