Chapter 2

1 THUS the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

2 And on the sixth day God, finished his works which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his works which he had made.

3 So God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it; because in it he had rested from all his works which God created and made.

4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the heavens and the earth.

5 And all the trees of the field were not yet in the ground, and every herb of the field had not yet sprung up; for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was no man to till the ground.

6 But a powerful spring gushed out of the earth, and watered all the face of the ground.

7 And the LORD God formed Adam out of the soil of the earth, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

9 And out of the ground the LORD God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

10 And a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it divided and became into four heads.

11 The name of the first is Pishon; it is the one which encircles the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;

12 And the gold of that land is good; there is also beryllium and the onyx stone.

13 And the name of the second river is Gihon, the one which encircles the whole land of Ethiopia.

14 And the name of the third river is Deklat (Tigris); it is the one which flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him in the garden of Eden to till it and to keep it.

16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat; for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.

18 Then the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper who is like him.

19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them; and whatever Adam called every living creature, that was its name.

20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to all fowl of the air, and to all wild beasts; but for Adam there was not found a helper who was equal to him.

21 So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the place with flesh in its stead;

22 And of the rib which the LORD God had taken from Adam he made a woman, and brought her to Adam.

23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh.

25 And they were both naked, Adam and his wife, and were not ashamed.

1 Итак, сотворение земли, неба и всего, что на них, было закончено.

2 Бог завершил Свои дела и на седьмой день отдыхал от Своих трудов.

3 Он благословил седьмой день и освятил его, сделав особым днём, потому что в тот день Он отдыхал от трудов, которыми был занят, сотворяя мир.

4 Вот рассказ о происхождении неба и земли, повествование о том, что произошло в то время, когда Господь Бог сотворил землю и небо.

5 В то время, когда Господь ещё не послал на землю дождь и не было на ней человека, чтобы ухаживать за растениями, в полях ничего не росло и нигде ещё не было растений.

6 Тогда вода вышла из земли и покрыла её поверхность.

7 Затем Господь Бог взял земную пыль и создал человека. Господь вдохнул в нос человеку дыхание жизни, и тот стал живым существом.

8 После этого Господь Бог посадил на востоке сад, в месте, которое называется Эдемом, и поместил там сотворённого Им человека.

9 Затем Господь Бог сделал так, что в саду стали расти всевозможные красивые деревья со съедобными плодами, а посередине сада Он поместил дерево жизни, дающее познание добра и зла.

10 Через Эдем протекала река, орошавшая сад, которая потом разделялась на четыре меньших реки.

11 Первая из них называлась Фисон и текла вокруг страны Хавилы.

12 (В этой стране есть чистое золото, бдолах и камень оникс).

13 Вторая река называлась Гион и текла вокруг всей страны Куш.

14 Третья река называлась Тигр и протекала к востоку от Ассирии. Четвертая река называлась Евфрат.

15 Господь Бог поселил человека в Эдемском саду, чтобы тот обрабатывал землю и ухаживал за растениями.

16 И заповедал Господь Бог человеку: «Можешь есть плоды с любого дерева в саду,

17 кроме дерева познания добра и зла. Если съешь плод с этого дерева, то умрёшь!»

18 После этого Господь Бог сказал: «Я вижу, что нехорошо человеку быть одному. Я сотворю ему подходящего помощника».

19 Господь Бог взял земную пыль и сотворил всех полевых животных и всех небесных птиц. Потом Он привёл всех этих животных к человеку, чтобы узнать, как он их назовёт, и человек дал имя каждому животному.

20 Человек дал названия всем домашним животным, всем небесным птицам и всем диким зверям. И увидел человек несметное множество животных и птиц, но не смог найти себе подходящего помощника.

21 Тогда Господь Бог погрузил человека в глубокий сон и, пока тот спал, вынул у него одно ребро, а потом срастил кожу в том месте, откуда Он извлёк ребро.

22 Господь Бог взял ребро, вынутое у человека, создал из него женщину и привел её к человеку.

23 Увидев её, человек сказал: «Наконец-то! Она такая же, как и я! Кость её от кости моей, и плоть её от плоти моей. Она взята от мужчины, так назову же её женщиной».

24 Вот почему мужчина оставляет отца с матерью и соединяется с женой, и двое становятся единой плотью.

25 Мужчина и женщина были наги, но не стыдились этого.

9 Затем Господь Бог сделал так, что в саду стали расти всевозможные красивые деревья со съедобными плодами, а посередине сада Он поместил дерево жизни, дающее познание добра и зла.

10 And a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it divided and became into four heads.

10 Через Эдем протекала река, орошавшая сад, которая потом разделялась на четыре меньших реки.

16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;

16 И заповедал Господь Бог человеку: «Можешь есть плоды с любого дерева в саду,

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat; for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.

17 кроме дерева познания добра и зла. Если съешь плод с этого дерева, то умрёшь!»

18 Then the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper who is like him.

18 После этого Господь Бог сказал: «Я вижу, что нехорошо человеку быть одному. Я сотворю ему подходящего помощника».

23 Увидев её, человек сказал: «Наконец-то! Она такая же, как и я! Кость её от кости моей, и плоть её от плоти моей. Она взята от мужчины, так назову же её женщиной».

24 Вот почему мужчина оставляет отца с матерью и соединяется с женой, и двое становятся единой плотью.

25 And they were both naked, Adam and his wife, and were not ashamed.
