Chapter 19

1 AND there came two angels to Sodom in the evening; and Lot was sitting at the gate of Sodom; and Lot saw them and rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;

2 And he said, My lords, turn aside, I pray you, into your servant's house and spend the night and wash your feet; then rise up early in the morning and go on your way. And they said, No, we will spend the night in the street.

3 But Lot urged them greatly; and they turned in to him and entered into his house; and he made them a feast and baked unleavened cakes and they ate.

4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, that is, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people of the town;

5 And they called to Lot and said to him, Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them.

6 And Lot went out at the door to them; and he shut the door after him.

7 And Lot said to them, I pray you, my brethren, do not so wickedly.

8 Behold now, I have two daughters who have, not known man; let me bring them out to you, and do to them whatever you please; only to these men do nothing; for they have come under the protection of my roof.

9 And they said, Get away. And they said again, This fellow came to sojourn among us, and now he tries to judge us; and they said to Lot, Now we will deal worse with you than with them. Then Lot fought desperately with them, and they drew near to break the door.

10 But the men put forth their hands and pulled Lot into the house to them and locked the door.

11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, from the least to the greatest, so that they became tired trying in vain to find the door.

12 And the men said to Lot, What are you doing in this place? Now, your sons-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whatsoever you have in this city, take them out of this place;

13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of the oppressed has come before the LORD; and the LORD has sent us to destroy it.

14 Then Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law who married his daughters, and said, Arise, get out of this place; for the LORD will destroy it. But his sons-in-law thought he was joking.

15 And when the morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, Arise, take your wife and your two daughters who are not given in marriage, lest you be engulfed in the sins of the city.

16 But Lot lingered; then the angels held his hand, the hand of his wife, and the hands of his two daughters, because the LORD pitied him; and they took him out and set him outside the city.

17 And it came to pass when they had brought them out of the city, they said to Lot: Now escape for your life; do not look back nor stop anywhere in the plain, but flee to the mountain lest you be consumed.

18 And Lot said to them, I beseech you, my lords,

19 Behold now, your servant has found mercy in your sight, and great is the favor which you have shown to me in saving my life; but I cannot escape to the mountain, lest evil overtake me and I die;

20 Behold now, this town is near to flee to, and it is a little one. Oh, let me escape there, and behold, because it is a little one my life will be spared.

21 And he said to him, See, I have granted you this thing also that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken.

22 Make haste and escape there; for I cannot do anything till you enter into it. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

23 The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.

24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the presence of the LORD out of heaven;

25 And he overthrew those cities and all the plain and all the inhabitants of the region and that which grew on the ground.

26 But his wife looked back from behind him and she became a pillar of salt.

27 And Abraham rose up early in the morning and went to the place where he had stood before the LORD;

28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah and toward all the region of the plain, and beheld, 1o, the smoke of the country went up like the smoke of a furnace.

29 And it came to pass when God destroyed the cities of the plain that God remembered Abraham and sent Lot out of the midst of the devastated region, when he overthrew the cities wherein Lot dwelt.

30 And Lot went up out of Zoar and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters were with him; for he was afraid to live in Zoar; and he dwelt in a cave, both he and his two daughters.

31 And the first-born said to the younger, Behold our father is old and there is not a man in the land to take us for wives after the manner of all the earth:

32 Come, let us make our father drink wine and we will lie with him so that we may raise an offspring from our father.

33 And they made their father drink wine that night; and the first-born went in and lay with her father; and he did not know when she lay down, nor when she arose.

34 And it came to pass on the next day, the first-born said to the younger, Behold. I lay last night with my father; let us make him drink wine tonight also: and then you go in and lie with him so that we may raise offspring from our father.

35 So they made their father drink wine that night also; and the younger went in and lay with him; and he did not know when she lay down, nor when she arose.

36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

37 And the first-born bore a son and called his name Moab; he is the father of the Moabites to this day.

38 And the younger also bore a son and called his name Bar-ammi; he is the father of the Ammonites to this day.

3 Однако Лот так упрашивал их зайти к нему в дом, что они согласились и пошли к нему. Он дал им напиться и испёк для них хлеб.

4 В тот же вечер, перед тем как они легли спать, жители Содома пришли к дому Лота со всех концов города и окружили его.

5 Они стали кричать: «Где те двое мужчин, которые пришли к тебе сегодня вечером? Выведи их к нам, чтобы мы познали их».

6 Лот вышел наружу и, прикрыв за собой дверь,

7 сказал жителям города: «Братья, прошу вас, не делайте зла!

8 Послушайте, у меня есть две дочери, не знавшие мужчины, я отдам вам своих дочерей, делайте с ними что хотите, только, прошу вас, не причиняйте зла этим двоим! Они пришли в мой дом, и я обязан защитить их!»

9 Но жители Содома, окружившие дом, ответили: «Уйди с дороги!» Затем они стали говорить между собой: «Этот Лот — пришелец в нашем городе, а ещё пытается учить нас, как нам жить!» Они пригрозили Лоту: «Смотри, тебе достанется от нас ещё хуже, чем им!» — и стали наступать на него, собираясь выломать дверь.

10 Но двое мужчин, которые остановились у Лота, открыли дверь, затащили Лота обратно в дом, а дверь заперли;

11 а тех, кто был снаружи, они ослепили: и молодых и старых, так что они не смогли найти дверь.

12 Затем те двое мужчин спросили Лота: «Есть ли ещё кто-либо из членов твоего семейства среди живущих в этом городе? Есть ли у тебя тут зятья, сыновья, дочери или кто-нибудь ещё, кто принадлежит твоей семье? Если есть, то ты должен сказать им, чтобы они сейчас же уходили.

13 Мы уничтожим этот город, потому что Господь слышал, что он переполнен злом, и послал нас разрушить его».

14 Лот пошёл и предупредил всех своих зятьёв, кто был женат на его дочерях. «Поскорее уходите из этого города, — сказал Лот, — так как Господь вскоре разрушит его». Но они все подумали, что Лот шутит.

15 На рассвете следующего дня Ангелы стали торопить Лота. «Люди, живущие в этом городе, будут наказаны, — сказали они, — возьми свою жену и дочерей и уходите отсюда, чтобы не погибнуть вместе с остальными людьми».

16 Но Лот всё ещё не торопился. Тогда эти двое, по милости Господней, взяли Лота, его жену и двух дочерей за руки и вывели их вместе невредимыми за пределы Содома.

17 Когда они вышли из города, один из Ангелов сказал: «Теперь бегите, спасайте свою жизнь! Не оглядывайтесь на город! Не останавливайтесь нигде в долине, а бегите в горы. Если остановитесь, то погибнете вместе со всеми людьми, живущими в Содоме!»

18 Но Лот начал умолять тех Ангелов: «Владыки, прошу вас, не вынуждайте меня бежать так далеко!

19 Вы были так милостивы ко мне, слуге вашему, что спасли меня, но я не могу бежать в горы. Что если я не успею и что-нибудь случится? Я погибну!

20 Тут неподалёку есть небольшой городок, позвольте мне бежать туда. Добравшись до этого города, я спасу свою жизнь».

21 Ангел сказал Лоту: «Хорошо, в угоду тебе я не уничтожу этот городок,

22 только беги туда поскорее, а то я не могу уничтожить Содом, пока ты не будешь там находиться в безопасности». (Тот город назывался Сигор, так как он очень мал).

23 Солнце уже взошло, когда Лот вошёл в Сигор.

24 В это самое время Господь начал разрушение Содома и Гоморры, послав с неба огонь и горящую серу.

25 Господь разрушил эти города, уничтожил всю долину, все растения и всех людей, живших в этих городах.

26 Когда они убегали, жена Лота оглянулась назад и превратилась в соляной столб.

27 Рано утром того же дня Авраам поднялся и пошёл на то место, где стоял перед Господом.

28 Посмотрев вниз, на землю в долине, Авраам увидел, что с земли поднимается густой дым, словно дым великого пожара.

29 Но, когда Бог разрушал города в долине, Он вспомнил об Аврааме и, прежде чем разрушить их, вывел оттуда жившего в городах долины Лота.

30 Лот побоялся оставаться в Сигоре и поэтому ушёл вместе со своими дочерьми в горы, где они и поселились в одной из пещер.

31 Однажды старшая дочь сказала младшей: «Повсюду на земле мужчины и женщины вступают в брак. Но наш отец стар, мужчин же здесь нет, и не от кого нам иметь детей.

32 Давай напоим отца вином, и, когда он опьянеет, ляжем с ним и от отца сохраним наш род».

33 В ту же ночь обе девушки пошли к отцу, напоили его вином, и старшая дочь легла с отцом, а Лот даже не знал, когда она легла в постель и когда встала.

34 На следующий день старшая дочь сказала младшей: «Вчера ночью я легла с отцом, так давай сегодня снова напоим его вином, и тогда ты сможешь лечь с ним. Мы от отца будем иметь детей и так продолжим наш род».

35 В ту же ночь обе девушки напоили отца вином, а потом младшая дочь легла с ним, и снова Лот не знал, когда она легла в постель и когда встала.

36 Обе дочери Лота забеременели от отца.

37 Старшая дочь родила сына и назвала его Моавом ; он — отец живущих поныне моавитян.

38 Младшая дочь также родила сына и назвала его Бен-Амми ; он — предок живущих поныне аммонитян.

14 Then Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law who married his daughters, and said, Arise, get out of this place; for the LORD will destroy it. 18 And Lot said to them, I beseech you, my lords,	18 Но Лот начал умолять тех Ангелов: «Владыки, прошу вас, не вынуждайте меня бежать так далеко!
19 Behold now, your servant has found mercy in your sight, and great is the favor which you have shown to me in saving my life; but I cannot escape to the mountain, lest evil overtake me and I die;	19 Вы были так милостивы ко мне, слуге вашему, что спасли меня, но я не могу бежать в горы. 21 And he said to him, See, I have granted you this thing also that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken.	21 Ангел сказал Лоту: «Хорошо, в угоду тебе я не уничтожу этот городок,
22 Make haste and escape there; for I cannot do anything till you enter into it. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.	22 только беги туда поскорее, а то я не могу уничтожить Содом, пока ты не будешь там находиться в безопасности». (Тот город назывался Сигор, так как он очень мал).
23 The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.	23 Солнце уже взошло, когда Лот вошёл в Сигор.

30 And Lot went up out of Zoar and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters were with him; for he was afraid to live in Zoar; and he dwelt in a cave, both he and his two daughters.	30 Лот побоялся оставаться в Сигоре и поэтому ушёл вместе со своими дочерьми в горы, где они и поселились в одной из пещер.

33 And they made their father drink wine that night; and the first-born went in and lay with her father; and he did not know when she lay down, nor when she arose.	33 В ту же ночь обе девушки пошли к отцу, напоили его вином, и старшая дочь легла с отцом, а Лот даже не знал, когда она легла в постель и когда встала.
34 And it came to pass on the next day, the first-born said to the younger, Behold. I lay last night with my father; let us make him drink wine tonight also: and then you go in and lie with him so that we may raise offspring from our father.	34 На следующий день старшая дочь сказала младшей: «Вчера ночью я легла с отцом, так давай сегодня снова напоим его вином, и тогда ты сможешь лечь с ним. Мы от отца будем иметь детей и так продолжим наш род».
35 So they made their father drink wine that night also; and the younger went in and lay with him; and he did not know when she lay down, nor when she arose.	35 В ту же ночь обе девушки напоили отца вином, а потом младшая дочь легла с ним, и снова Лот не знал, когда она легла в постель и когда встала.
36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.	36 Обе дочери Лота забеременели от отца.
37 And the first-born bore a son and called his name Moab; he is the father of the Moabites to this day.	37 Старшая дочь родила сына и назвала его Моавом ; он — отец живущих поныне моавитян.
38 And the younger also bore a son and called his name Bar-ammi; he is the father of the Ammonites to this day.	38 Младшая дочь также родила сына и назвала его Бен-Амми ; он — предок живущих поныне аммонитян.
