1 AND Jacob raised his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau was coming, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children among Leah, Rachel, and the two maids. |
|
2 Then he brought the maids and their children to the front, and Leah and her children next, and kept Rachel and Joseph in the rear. |
|
3 And he himself went on before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother. |
|
4 And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck and kissed him; and they wept. |
|
5 Then Esau raised his eyes and saw the women and the children, and said, Where did you get these? And Jacob said to him, They are the children whom God has graciously given your servant. |
|
6 Then the maids drew near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves. |
|
7 And Leah also with her children drew near, and bowed themselves; and afterwards came Rachel and Joseph who also drew near, and bowed themselves. |
|
8 And Esau said to Jacob, Where did you get all this company which I met? And Jacob said to him, Because I have found favor in the sight of my lord. |
|
9 Then Esau said to him, I have plenty, my brother; keep what you have to yourself. |
|
10 But Jacob said to him, If now I have found mercy in your sight, then receive my present from my hands; because now I have seen your face, as I saw the face of an angel, and you were pleased with me. |
|
11 Now accept my blessings that I have brought to you; because God has dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And Jacob urged him, and he did accept them. |
|
12 Then Esau said to him, Let us depart, and go, and I will go before you. |
|
13 But Jacob said. My lord knows that the children are too young, and that the flocks and herds with young are with me; and if I should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die. |
|
14 Let my lord pass before his servant, and I will travel slowly, according to the pace of the cattle which are before me and according to the pace of the children, until I come to my lord to Seir. |
|
15 And Esau said to him, Let me leave with you some of the men that are with me. But Jacob said, What need have I for them? Let me find mercy in the sight of my lord. |
|
16 So Esau returned that day on his way to Seir. |
|
17 And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built himself a house, and made sheepfolds for his cattle; therefore he called the name of the place Succoth. |
|
18 And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came forth from Padan-aram; and encamped before the city. |
|
19 And he bought a parcel of a field from the children of Hamor, father of Shechem, for a hundred ewes. |
|
20 And he pitched his tent there, and erected an altar, and called it El-Alaha di Israel (God, the God of Israel). |

2 И поставил служанок и детей их впереди, Лию и детей ее за ними, а Рахиль и Иосифа позади. |
|
3 А сам пошел перед ними, и поклонился до земли семь раз, подходя к брату своему. |
|
4 Исав побежал ему навстречу, обнял его, бросился ему на шею, и целовал его, и плакали. |
|
5 И возведши очи свои, увидел жен и детей, и спросил: кто это у тебя? Иаков отвечал: дети, которых Бог даровал рабу твоему. |
|
6 И подошли служанки, сами и дети их, и поклонились. |
|
7 Потом подошла Лия и дети ее, и поклонились. Наконец подошли Иосиф и Рахиль, и поклонились. |
|

|
9 Исав сказал: у меня много, братец; пусть твое - у тебя. |
|
10 Но Иаков сказал: нет, сделай милость; если я обрел благоволение в очах твоих, прими дар мой от руки моей; ибо я увидел лице твое, как бы кто увидел лице Божие, и ты принял меня милостиво. |
|
11 Прими благословение мое, которое представлено тебе; потому что Бог даровал мне, и есть у меня все. И принудил его, и он взял. |
|
12 |
|
13 Он отвечал ему: господин мой знает, что дети мои молоды, а мелкий и крупный скот дойный; если погнать его один день, то помрет весь скот. |
|
14 Пусть господин мой пойдет впереди раба своего, а я пойду тихим шагом своим, как пойдет скот, который передо мною, и как пойдут дети; и приду к господину моему в Сеир. |

17 А Иаков пошел в Сокхоф, и построил себе дом, и для скота своего сделал дворы. От сего дано имя месту: Сокхоф. |

18 |
|
19 И купил часть поля, на котором он раскинул шатер свой, у сынов Эммора, отца Сихемова, за сто монет. |
|
20 И поставил там жертвенник; и назвал его: Бог крепкий, Бог Израилев. |
