Chapter 2

1 THUS says the LORD: For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment from the people thereof, because they burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime;

2 But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kirioth; and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet;

3 And I will cut off the judge from its midst, and will slay all its princes with him, says the LORD.

4 Thus says the LORD: For three transgressions of Judah. and for four, I will not turn away the punishment from the people thereof because they have rejected the law of the LORD and have not kept his commandments, and the vain idols, after which their fathers have walked, have caused them to go astray.

5 But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.

6 Thus says the LORD: For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof, because they sold a righteous man for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes, with which they tread the dust of the earth.

7 And they oppress the poor, and turn away justice from the fatherless; and a man and his father go in to the same woman, to profane my holy name.

8 And they laid themselves down in filthy clothes on the sides of every altar, and they drank old wine in the houses of their gods.

9 Yet I destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of a cedar, and he was strong as an oak; yet I destroyed his fruit from above and his roots from beneath.

10 Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, and brought you here to possess the land of the Amorite.

11 And I raised up some of your sons for prophets, and some of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O you children of Israel? says the LORD.

12 But you gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets that they should not prophesy.

13 Behold, I am weary under your burdens, as a cart creaks that is full of sheaves.

14 Therefore the power to run shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not possess his strength, neither shall the mighty deliver himself.

15 And he that handles the bow shall not stand; and he who is a fast runner shall not deliver himself; neither shall he who rides the horse deliver himself.

16 And he who is courageous like a mighty man shall flee away naked in that day, says the LORD.

1 Так говорит ГОСПОДЬ: „За преступления, одно за другим творимые, не отвращу наказания от жителей Моава! Над останками царя эдомского они надругались: огнем их в пепел и дым обратили“.

2 „Потому и предам Я Моав огню, и пожрет он чертоги Кериота. В шуме сражения Моав погибнет, при криках войска и звуках рога,

3 истреблю в нем властителя его, вместе с ним всех князей его погублю“, — говорит ГОСПОДЬ.

4 Так говорит ГОСПОДЬ: „За преступления, одно за другим творимые, не отвращу наказания от Иудеи! Отвергли они Закон ГОСПОДЕНЬ, установлений Моих не хранили, а позволили себе увлечься лжебогами, которыми еще их предки соблазнились.

5 Потому и предам Я огню Иудею, и пожрет он чертоги Иерусалима“.

6 Так говорит ГОСПОДЬ: „За преступления, одно за другим творимые, не отвращу наказания от Израиля! Там прибыли ради продают в рабы человека порядочного, и нищего — за пару сандалий;

7 по головам бедняков ходят, как по пыльной дороге, некуда там человеку слабому податься; и отец и сын его блудят с одной и той же девицей, оскверняя святое имя Мое.

8 Пьянствуют они прямо у жертвенников своих, валяясь около них на одеждах, в залог взятых, — пьют вино в храмах богов своих, да и вино-то, в уплату штрафа изъятое.

9 Я на их пути сюда истребил амореев, высоких, как кедры, и могучих, как дубы, — лишил их плодов на ветвях и корней в земле.

10 И из Египта Я вас вывел, и по пустыне водил целых сорок лет, чтобы дать вам землю амореев во владение.

11 По воле Моей одни из сыновей ваших пророками стали, а иные из юношей ваших — назореями. Не так ли всё это было, сыны Израиля?“ — напоминает ГОСПОДЬ!

12 „А вы назореев вином опаивали, пророкам рты затыкали!

13 Так знайте же: придавлю Я вас, застонете вы, под гнетом застонете, как повозка, снопами груженная,

14 так что и проворный убежать не сможет, и могучий всякой силы лишится, и даже самый опытный воин жизни своей не спасет;

15 не устоит и лучник умелый, не помогут и самому быстрому ноги его, и никакой всадник не сохранит жизни своей.

16 В тот день самый храбрый из воинов, оружие свое бросив, в бегство обратится!“ — это вещее слово ГОСПОДНЕ».

3 истреблю в нем властителя его, вместе с ним всех князей его погублю“, — говорит ГОСПОДЬ.

9 Я на их пути сюда истребил амореев, высоких, как кедры, и могучих, как дубы, — лишил их плодов на ветвях и корней в земле.

10 Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, and brought you here to possess the land of the Amorite.

10 И из Египта Я вас вывел, и по пустыне водил целых сорок лет, чтобы дать вам землю амореев во владение.

11 And I raised up some of your sons for prophets, and some of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O you children of Israel? says the LORD.

11 По воле Моей одни из сыновей ваших пророками стали, а иные из юношей ваших — назореями. Не так ли всё это было, сыны Израиля?“ — напоминает ГОСПОДЬ!

12 But you gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets that they should not prophesy.

12 „А вы назореев вином опаивали, пророкам рты затыкали!

13 Behold, I am weary under your burdens, as a cart creaks that is full of sheaves.

13 Так знайте же: придавлю Я вас, застонете вы, под гнетом застонете, как повозка, снопами груженная,

14 Therefore the power to run shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not possess his strength, neither shall the mighty deliver himself.

14 так что и проворный убежать не сможет, и могучий всякой силы лишится, и даже самый опытный воин жизни своей не спасет;

15 And he that handles the bow shall not stand; and he who is a fast runner shall not deliver himself; neither shall he who rides the horse deliver himself.

15 не устоит и лучник умелый, не помогут и самому быстрому ноги его, и никакой всадник не сохранит жизни своей.

16 And he who is courageous like a mighty man shall flee away naked in that day, says the LORD.

16 В тот день самый храбрый из воинов, оружие свое бросив, в бегство обратится!“ — это вещее слово ГОСПОДНЕ».
