Chapter 9

1 THEN the LORD said to Moses, Go to Pharaoh and say to him, Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go that they may serve me.

2 For if you refuse to let them go (and until now you have withheld them),

3 Behold, the LORD will smite your cattle which are in the desert, the horses, the asses, the camels, the oxen, and the sheep; there shall be a very severe plague.

4 And the LORD will discriminate between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of the Egyptians, so that none of the cattle that belong to the children of Israel shall die, not even one.

5 And the LORD appointed a set time, saying, Tomorrow the LORD shall do this thing in the land.

6 And the LORD did that thing the next day, and all the cattle of the Egyptians died; but of the cattle of the children of Israel not one died.

7 And Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not one of the cattle of the Israelites dead. And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened and he did not let the people go.

8 And the LORD said to Moses and to Aaron, Take two handfuls of the ashes of the furnace and let Moses scatter it toward the heaven in the sight of Pharaoh.

9 And it shall become fine dust in all the land of Egypt, and there shall be boils breaking forth with sores upon men, and upon cattle, throughout all the land of Egypt.

10 So they took ashes of the furnace and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses scattered it toward the heaven in the sight of Pharaoh; and it became blistering boils, breaking out with sores upon men, and upon cattle.

11 And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boils had spread among the magicians and throughout all the land of Egypt.

12 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh and he did not listen to them, as the LORD had said to Moses.

13 And the LORD said to Moses, Arise early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say to him. Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go that they may serve me.

14 For this time I will send my plague on your heart and on your servants and on your people, that you may know that there is none like me in all the earth.

15 For now I will stretch out my hand that I may strike you and your people with pestilence; and you shall perish from the earth.

16 But for this cause have I raised you to the throne, to show you my power, and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.

17 As yet you are continuing to detain this people and refusing to let them go.

18 Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause a severe storm of hail, such as there has not been in Egypt from the day that it was founded even until now.

19 Send therefore now, and gather your cattle, and all that you have in the field; for upon every man and the cattle which be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die.

20 He who feared the word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh brought his servants and his cattle into the house.

21 But he who regarded not the word of the LORD left his servants and his cattle in the field.

22 And the LORD said to Moses, Lift up your hand toward heaven that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon men and upon cattle and upon all the grass in the field, throughout the land of Egypt.

23 And Moses lifted up his staff toward heaven; and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and lightning ran along on the ground; and the LORD showered hail upon the land of Egypt.

24 So there was hail, and flaming fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as had never been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.

25 And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and cattle; and the hail destroyed all the herbs of the field and broke every tree of the field.

26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel dwelt, was there no hail.

27 Then Pharaoh sent and called for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, I have sinned this time; the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.

28 Pray before the LORD, for there is yet a chance for forgiveness in his presence that there be no more mighty thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and you shall stay no longer.

29 And Moses said to him, As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will stretch forth my hands to the LORD; and the thunder shall cease and there shall be no more hail, that you may know that the earth belongs to the LORD.

30 But as for you and your servants, I know that you have not yet feared the LORD God.

31 And the flax and the barley were lost; for the barley was in the ear and the flax was boiled.

32 But the wheat and the rye were not lost; for they were sown late.

33 And Moses went out of the city from the presence of Pharaoh, and spread out his hands to the LORD; and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured upon the earth.

34 And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders had ceased, he sinned yet more, and his heart was hardened, and the heart of his servants.

35 And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened and he did not let the children of Israel go, as the LORD had sent word to him by Moses.

2 Wo du dich des7971 weigerst3986 und sie2388 weiter aufhältst,

3 siehe, so3966 wird Hand3027 des HErrn3068 sein1961 über dein Vieh4735 auf dem Felde7704, über Pferde5483, über Esel2543, über Kamele1581, über Ochsen1241, über Schafe6629 mit einer fast schweren3515 Pestilenz1698.

4 Und3478 der HErr3068 wird ein Besonderes tun6395 zwischen dem Vieh4735 der Israeliten und der Ägypter4714, daß nichts sterbe4191 aus allem, das1697 die Kinder1121 Israel3478 haben.

5 Und der HErr3068 bestimmte7760 eine Zeit4150 und sprach559: Morgen4279 wird der HErr3068 solches1697 auf Erden776 tun6213.

6 Und der HErr3068 tat6213 solches1697 des Morgens4283; und starb4191 allerlei Vieh4735 der Ägypter4714; aber des Viehes der Kinder1121 Israel3478 starb4191 nicht eins259.

7 Und Pharao6547 sandte7971 danach, und siehe, es war des Viehes Israel3478 nicht eins259 gestorben4191. Aber das Herz3820 Pharaos6547 ward verstockt3513 und ließ7971 das Volk5971 nicht.

8 Da sprach559 der HErr3068 zu Mose4872 und Aaron175: Nehmet3947 eure Fäuste voll4393 Ruß6368 aus dem Ofen3536, und Mose4872 sprenge2236 ihn gen Himmel8064 vor5869 Pharao6547,

9 daß über ganz Ägyptenland776 stäube80, und776 böse schwarze76 Blattern7822 auffahren6524, beide an Menschen120 und an Vieh929, in ganz Ägyptenland4714.

10 Und sie nahmen3947 Ruß6368 aus dem Ofen3536 und traten vor6440 Pharao6547, und Mose4872 sprengete ihn gen Himmel8064. Da fuhren auf5975 böse schwarze76 Blattern7822, beide an Menschen120 und an Vieh929,

11 also daß die Zauberer2748 nicht konnten3201 vor6440 Mose4872 stehen5975 vor6440 den bösen Blattern7822; denn es waren an den Zauberern ebensowohl böse Blattern7822 als an allen Ägyptern4714.

12 Aber der HErr3068 verstockte das Herz3820 Pharaos6547, daß er sie2388 nicht hörete, wie denn der HErr3068 zu8085 Mose4872 gesagt hatte1696.

13 Da sprach559 der HErr3068 zu Mose4872: Mache dich morgen1242 frühe auf7925 und559 tritt3320 vor Pharao6547 und sprich559 zu ihm: So sagt der HErr3068, der Ebräer GOtt430: Laß7971 mein Volk5971, daß mir6440‘s diene5647!

14 Ich will anders diesmal6471 alle meine Plagen4046 über dich selbst3820 senden7971, über deine Knechte5650 und über dein Volk5971, daß du inne werden sollst3045, daß meinesgleichen nicht ist in allen Landen776.

15 Denn ich will jetzt meine Hand3027 ausrecken und dich und dein Volk5971 mit Pestilenz1698 schlagen5221, daß du7971 von der Erde776 sollst vertilget werden.

16 Und199 zwar darum habe5975 ich dich erwecket, daß5668 meine Kraft3581 an7200 dir erscheine, und mein Name8034 verkündiget werde5608 in allen Landen776.

17 Du trittst5549 mein Volk5971 noch unter dich und willst es nicht lassen7971.

18 Siehe, ich will morgen4279 um diese Zeit6256 einen sehr3966 großen3515 Hagel1259 regnen4305 lassen, desgleichen3644 in Ägypten4714 nicht4480 gewesen ist7760, seit der Zeit es gegründet ist3245, bisher.

19 Und nun sende7971 hin und verwahre5756 dein Vieh4735 und alles, was du auf dem Felde7704 hast4672. Denn alle Menschen120 und Vieh929, das auf dem Felde7704 funden wird und nicht in die Häuser1004 versammelt ist, so der Hagel1259 auf sie fällt3381, werden622 sterben4191.

20 Wer nun unter den Knechten5650 Pharaos6547 des HErrn3068 Wort1697 fürchtete3373, der ließ seine Knechte5650 und Vieh4735 in die Häuser1004 fliehen5127.

21 Welcher Herz3820 aber sich nicht kehrete an des HErrn3068 Wort1697, ließen5800 ihre Knechte5650 und7760 Vieh4735 auf dem Felde7704.

22 Da sprach559 der HErr3068 zu Mose4872: Recke deine Hand3027 gen Himmel8064, daß es hagele über ganz Ägyptenland776, über Menschen120, über Vieh929 und776 über alles Kraut6212 auf5186 dem Felde7704 in Ägyptenland4714.

23 Also reckte5186 Mose4872 seinen Stab4294 gen Himmel8064; und der HErr3068 ließ5414 donnern6963 und hageln1259, daß das776 Feuer784 auf die Erde776 schoß1980. Also ließ der HErr3068 Hagel1259 regnen4305 über Ägyptenland4714,

24 daß Hagel1259 und Feuer untereinander fuhren3947, so3966 grausam3515, daß desgleichen in8432 ganz Ägyptenland776 nie3808 gewesen war, seit der Zeit Leute1471 drinnen gewesen sind.

25 Und der Hagel1259 schlug5221 in ganz Ägyptenland776 alles, was auf dem Felde7704 war, beide Menschen120 und Vieh929, und schlug5221 alles Kraut6212 auf dem Felde7704 und zerbrach7665 alle Bäume6086 auf dem Felde7704.

26 Ohne allein im Lande776 Gosen1657, da die Kinder1121 Israel3478 waren, da hagelte1259 es nicht.

27 Da schickte Pharao6547 hin und ließ7971 Mose4872 und Aaron175 rufen und sprach7121 zu ihnen: Ich559 habe2398 dasmal6471 mich versündiget; der HErr3068 ist gerecht6662, ich aber und mein Volk5971 sind GOttlose7563.

28 Bittet6279 aber den HErrn3068, daß aufhöre7227 solch Donnern6963 und Hageln1259 Gottes430, so will ich euch lassen7971, daß ihr nicht3254 länger hie bleibet5975.

29 Mose4872 sprach559 zu ihm: Wenn ich zur Stadt5892 hinaus3318 komme, will ich meine Hände3709 ausbreiten6566 gegen den HErrn3068, so wird3045 der Donner6963 aufhören2308, und kein Hagel1259 mehr sein, auf daß du inne werdest, daß die Erde776 des HErrn3068 sei.

30 Ich weiß3045 aber, daß du und deine Knechte5650 euch3372 noch nicht fürchtet vor6440 GOtt430 dem HErrn3068.

31 Also ward geschlagen5221 der Flachs6594 und die Gerste8184; denn die Gerste8184 hatte geschosset und der Flachs6594 Knoten gewonnen1392.

32 Aber der Weizen2406 und Roggen ward nicht geschlagen5221, denn es2007 war spät Getreide.

33 So ging nun Mose4872 von3318 Pharao6547 zur Stadt5892 hinaus und breitete6566 seine Hände3709 gegen den HErrn3068, und der Donner6963 und Hagel1259 höreten auf, und der Regen4306 troff5413 nicht mehr2308 auf Erden776.

34 Da aber Pharao6547 sah7200, daß der Regen4306 und Donner6963 und Hagel1259 aufhörete, versündigte er sich2398 weiter3254 und verhärtete3513 sein2308 Herz3820, er und seine Knechte5650.

35 Also ward des Pharao6547 Herz3820 verstockt2388, daß er die Kinder1121 Israel3478 nicht ließ7971, wie denn der HErr3068 geredet hatte1696 durch3027 Mose4872.
