4 Иоанн говорил ему: «Тебе не подобает с ней сожительствовать».

5 Ирод хотел убить его, но боялся народа, так как люди считали Иоанна пророком.

6 Когда наступил день рождения Ирода, дочь Иродиады танцевала перед ним и его гостями и так угодила ему,

7 что он клятвенно пообещал дать ей всё, о чём она ни попросит.

8 По наущению матери она сказала: «Принеси мне на блюде голову Иоанна Крестителя».

9 И хотя царь был опечален, он приказал исполнить её просьбу, так как гости, которые ели вмести с ним, слышали его клятву.

10 Поэтому Ирод послал людей обезглавить Иоанна в тюрьме.

11 Они принесли голову Иоанна на блюде и отдали девушке, а та отнесла её матери.

15 Когда настал вечер, к Нему пришли Его ученики и сказали: «Уже поздно, а место здесь уединённое. Распусти людей, чтобы они могли пойти в селения и купить себе еду».

16 Но Иисус сказал ученикам: «Незачем им уходить. Вы дайте им что-нибудь поесть».

17 Ученики ответили Ему: «Всё, что у нас есть с собой, это пять хлебов и две рыбины».

18 Иисус сказал: «Принесите их Мне».

19 Он велел народу сесть на траву, а затем, взяв пять хлебов и две рыбины, возвёл глаза к небу и возблагодарил Бога за еду. После этого Он преломил хлеб и стал раздавать куски Своим ученикам, а те в свою очередь передавали их народу.

20 Все поели и насытились, а ученики потом ещё наполнили остатками еды двенадцать корзин.

21 И всего среди евших было пять тысяч мужчин, а кроме них ещё женщины и дети.

22 Вскоре после этого Иисус велел ученикам сесть в лодку и послал их вперед, на другой берег озера, а Сам остался, чтобы отпустить народ.

23 Попрощавшись с людьми, Он в одиночестве поднялся в горы, чтобы помолиться. И когда наступил вечер, Он был там один.

24 Лодка была уже далеко от берега, и волны кидали её из стороны в сторону, так как она шла против сильного ветра.

25 Между тремя и шестью часами утра Иисус пришёл к ученикам, идя по воде.

26 Увидев, что Он идёт по озеру, они испугались и сказали: «Это призрак!» — и стали кричать от страха.

27 Затем Иисус заговорил с ними: «Не пугайтесь! Это — Я! Не бойтесь!»

28 В ответ Пётр сказал: «Господи, если это Ты, то прикажи, чтобы я мог подойти к Тебе по воде!»

29 Иисус сказал: «Подойди!» Тогда Пётр вышел из лодки и пошёл по воде к Иисусу.

30 Тотчас же он заметил, что ветер усилился, и поэтому испугался. Он стал тонуть и закричал: «Господи, спаси меня!»

31 Иисус тотчас же протянул руку и подхватил его. Он сказал Петру: «Маловерный, почему ты усомнился?»

32 Как только они вошли в лодку, ветер стих.

33 Те, кто были в лодке, поклонились Иисусу и сказали: «Ты — истинно Сын Божий!»

34 Они пересекли озеро и причалили к берегу в Геннисарете.

35 Когда местные жители узнали Иисуса, они послали весть по всей округе, и люди стали приносить больных
