4 For Gaza5804 shall be forsaken,5800 and Ashkelon831 a desolation:8077 they shall drive1644 out Ashdod795 at the noon6672 day, and Ekron6138 shall be rooted6131 up.

5 Woe1945 to the inhabitants3427 of the sea3220 coast,2256 the nation1471 of the Cherethites!3774 the word1697 of the LORD3068 is against5921 you; O Canaan,3667 the land776 of the Philistines,6430 I will even destroy6 you, that there shall be no369 inhabitant.3427

6 And the sea3220 coast2256 shall be dwellings5116 and cottages3741 for shepherds,7462 and folds1448 for flocks.6629

7 And the coast2256 shall be for the remnant7611 of the house1004 of Judah;3063 they shall feed7462 thereupon: in the houses1004 of Ashkelon831 shall they lie7257 down7257 in the evening:6153 for the LORD3068 their God430 shall visit6485 them, and turn7725 away their captivity.7622

8 I have heard8085 the reproach2781 of Moab,4124 and the revilings1421 of the children1121 of Ammon,5983 whereby834 they have reproached2778 my people,5971 and magnified1431 themselves against5921 their border.1366

9 Therefore3651 as I live,2416 said5002 the LORD3068 of hosts,6635 the God430 of Israel,3478 Surely3588 Moab4124 shall be as Sodom,5467 and the children1121 of Ammon5983 as Gomorrah,6017 even the breeding4476 of nettles,2738 and salt pits,4417 and a perpetual5769 desolation:8077 the residue7611 of my people5971 shall spoil962 them, and the remnant3499 of my people1471 shall possess5157 them.

10 This2063 shall they have for their pride,1347 because3588 they have reproached2778 and magnified1431 themselves against5921 the people5971 of the LORD3068 of hosts.6635

11 The LORD3068 will be terrible3372 to them: for he will famish7329 all3605 the gods430 of the earth;776 and men shall worship7812 him, every376 one376 from his place,4725 even all3605 the isles339 of the heathen.1471

12 You Ethiopians3569 also,1571 you shall be slain2491 by my sword.2719

13 And he will stretch5186 out his hand3027 against5921 the north,6828 and destroy6 Assyria;804 and will make7760 Nineveh5210 a desolation,8077 and dry6723 like a wilderness.4057

14 And flocks5739 shall lie7257 down7257 in the middle8432 of her, all3605 the beasts2416 of the nations:1471 both1571 the cormorant6893 and the bittern7090 shall lodge3885 in the upper3730 lintels3730 of it; their voice6963 shall sing7891 in the windows;2474 desolation2721 shall be in the thresholds;5592 for he shall uncover6168 the cedar731 work.731

15 This2063 is the rejoicing5947 city5892 that dwelled3427 carelessly,983 that said559 in her heart,3824 I am, and there is none657 beside657 me: how349 is she become1961 a desolation,8047 a place for beasts2416 to lie4769 down4769 in! every3605 one that passes5674 by her shall hiss,8319 and wag5128 his hand.3027

1 Посоро́мтеся та застида́йтесь, наро́де без сорому,

2 поки наро́диться устано́влене, — мине день, як поло́ва! — поки не при́йде на вас лютість гніву Господнього, поки не прийде на вас день Господнього гніву!

3 Шукайте Господа, всі покі́рні землі, хто вико́нує право Його! Шукайте правди, шукайте смире́ння, — може будете схо́вані ви в день Господнього гніву!

4 Бо поки́нута буде Азза́, а Ашкело́н онусто́шенням стане, Ашдо́д — опівдня́ його виженуть, а Екро́н буде ви́рваний.

5 Горе мешка́нцям довкі́лля морсько́го, наро́дові критському! Слово Господнє на вас, ханане́ї, кра́ю филисти́млян, — Я тебе вигублю так, що не буде мешка́нця!

6 І бу́де довкі́лля морське́ пасови́щами, по́вними ям пастухів та коша́р для отари,

7 і буде оце побере́жжя останкові дому Юдиного, на них пасти бу́дуть, у дома́х Ашкело́ну вве́чорі бу́дуть лягати, бо їх відві́дає Господь, їхній Бог, і Він їхню долю приве́рне.

8 Чув Я га́ньбу Моавову й обра́зи Аммо́нових синів, які обража́ли наро́д Мій і чвани́лися над границею їхньою.

9 Тому́ — як живий Я! — говорить Госпо́дь Савао́т, Бог Ізраїлів, — стане Моа́в як Содо́м, а Аммонові сини — як Гомо́рра: землею терни́ни, і солончако́м, і навіки спусто́шенням! Пограбує їх решта наро́ду Мого, а за́лишок люду Мого́ їх пося́де.

10 Оце їм за їхню пиху́, бо вони ображали й чвани́лися проти наро́ду Господа Саваота.

11 Господь бу́де грізни́й проти них, бо Він знищить всіх бо́гів землі, і вклоня́тися будуть Йому кожен з місця свого́, усі острови́ тих народів.

12 Також ви, етіо́пляни, побиті мечем Моїм бу́дете.

13 І на пі́вніч простя́гне Він руку Свою́, та й погубить Ашшу́ра, і Ніневі́ю учинить спусто́шенням, суходо́лом, мов ту пустелю.

14 І будуть лежати серед неї стада́, усяка польова́ звіри́на, і пеліка́н, і їжа́к будуть ночувати на мисте́цьких прикра́сах її, сова бу́де кричати в вікні́, на поро́зі воро́на, бо відде́рто кедри́ну його́.

15 Оце оте радісне місто, що безпечно живе, що говорить у серці своє́му: „Я, — і немає вже більше ніко́го!“ Як стало воно опусто́шенням, лего́вищем для звірини́! Кожен, хто буде прохо́дить повз нього, засви́ще, своєю рукою махне́!

5 Горе мешка́нцям довкі́лля морсько́го, наро́дові критському! Слово Господнє на вас, ханане́ї, кра́ю филисти́млян, — Я тебе вигублю так, що не буде мешка́нця!
