3 Und die Lieder7892 in der Kirche sollen in ein Heulen3213 verkehret werden7993 zur selbigen Zeit3117, spricht5002 der HErr136 HErr3069; es werden viel7227 toter Leichname6297 liegen an allen Orten4725, die man heimlich wegtragen wird.

4 Höret8085 dies, die ihr den Armen34 unterdrücket und die Elenden6041 im Lande776 verderbet

5 und559 sprechet: Wann will denn der Neumond2320 ein Ende haben5674, daß wir Getreide7668 verkaufen7666, und der Sabbat7676, daß wir Korn1250 feil haben mögen und den Epha ringern und den Sekel steigern1431 und die Waage3976 fälschen5791,

6 auf daß wir die Armen34 um Geld3701 und die Dürftigen1800 um ein Paar Schuh5275 unter uns bringen7069 und Spreu4651 für Korn1250 verkaufen7666?

7 Der HErr3068 hat geschworen7650 wider die Hoffart1347 Jakobs3290: Was gilt‘s, ob ich solcher ihrer Werke4639 ewig5331 vergessen werde7911?

8 Sollte nicht56 um solches willen das Land776 erbeben müssen7264 und alle Einwohner3427 trauern? Ja, es soll216 ganz, wie mit einem Wasser2975, überlaufen werden5927 und weggeführet und überschwemmet werden8257, wie mit dem Fluß in Ägypten4714.

9 Zur selbigen Zeit3117, spricht5002 der HErr136 HErr3069, will935 ich die Sonne8121 im Mittage6672 untergehen lassen und das Land776 am hellen216 Tage3117 lassen finster2821 werden.

10 Ich will eure Feiertage2282 in Trauern60 und alle3117 eure Lieder7892 in Wehklagen7015 verwandeln2015; ich will über alle Lenden4975 den Sack8242 bringen und alle Köpfe7218 kahl7144 machen7760 und will ihnen ein Trauern60 schaffen, wie man über einen einigen Sohn hat5927, und sollen ein jämmerlich4751 Ende319 nehmen.

11 Siehe, es kommt935 die Zeit3117, spricht5002 der HErr136 HErr3069, daß ich einen Hunger7458 ins Land776 schicken7971 werde, nicht einen Hunger7458 nach Brot3899 oder Durst6772 nach Wasser4325, sondern nach dem Wort1697 des HErrn3068 zu8085 hören,

12 daß1697 sie5128 hin und her7751, von einem Meer3220 zum andern, von Mitternacht6828 gegen4217 Morgen umlaufen und des HErrn3068 Wort1245 suchen und doch nicht finden4672 werden.

13 Zu der Zeit3117 werden schöne3303 Jungfrauen1330 und Jünglinge970 verschmachten5968 vor Durst6772,

14 die jetzt schwören7650 bei dem Fluch819 Samaria8111 und sprechen: So wahr dein GOtt430 zu Dan1835 lebet, so wahr die Weise1870 zu Berseba lebet! Denn sie559 sollen also fallen5307, daß sie nicht6965 wieder aufstehen mögen.

1 THUS has the LORD God showed me: and behold, a sign of the end.

2 And the LORD said to me, Amos, what do you see? And I said, A sign of the end. Then the LORD said to me, The end is come upon my people Israel; I will not again cause it to pass by them any more.

3 And the songs of the temple shall be howling in that day, says the LORD God; there shall be many dead bodies in every place; and they shall be cast away to destruction.

4 Hear this, O you who wrong the poor, and cause the needy of the land to come to an end,

5 Saying, When will the month be over, that we may sell grain? When will the sabbath be over that we may open storehouses and make our measures small and enlarge weights and make deceitful balances?

6 That we may sell to the poor for silver, and pay the needy with the refuse of the wheat, and sell the refuse which is left on the floor of the storehouses.

7 The LORD, the Mighty One of Jacob, has sworn, Surely, I will never forget any of their works.

8 Shall not the land tremble for these things, and every one mourn who dwells in it? The end shall come up like a flooded river; and it shall cast things away, and then recede like the river of Egypt.

9 And it shall come to pass in that day, says the LORD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the daylight.

10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentation; and I will put sackcloth upon all your loins and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning for an only son, and the end of it as a bitter day.

11 Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will send a famine in the land; not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the word of the LORD;

12 And they shall gather together from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east; they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

13 In that day the beautiful virgins and the young men shall faint for thirst.

14 They that swore by the idols of Samaria, saying, As your god lives, O Dan, and, as the cult of Beer-sheba lives, even they shall fall and never rise again.
