Розділ 23

1 Тоді промовив Ісус до народу й до учнів Своїх,

2 і сказав: „На сиді́нні Мойсеєвім усілися книжники та фарисеї.

3 Тож усе, що́ вони скажуть вам, — робіть і виконуйте; та за вчинками їхніми не робіть, бо говорять вони — та не роблять того́!

4 Вони ж в'яжуть тяжкі тягарі, і кладуть їх на лю́дські раме́на, самі ж навіть пальцем своїм не хотять їх пору́шити.

5 Усі ж учинки свої вони роблять, щоб їх бачили люди, і богомі́лля свої розширяють, і здовжують ки́тиці.

6 І люблять вони передніші місця на бенке́тах, і передніші лавки́ в синагогах,

7 і привіти на ринках, і щоб звали їх люди: Учителю!

8 А ви вчителями не звіться, — бо один вам Учитель, а ви всі брати́.

9 І не називайте нікого отцем на землі, — бо один вам Отець, що на небі.

10 І не звіться наста́вниками, — бо один вам Наста́вник, — Христос.

11 Хто між вами найбільший, хай слугою вам буде!

12 Хто бо підно́ситься, — буде понижений, хто ж понижується, той піднесе́ться.

13 Горе ж вам, книжники та фарисеї, лицеміри, що перед людьми́ зачиняєте Царство Небесне, — бо й самі ви не вхо́дите, ані тих, хто хоче ввійти, увійти не пускаєте!

14 (Горе ж вам, книжники та фарисеї, лицеміри, що вдови́ні хати поїдаєте, і напо́каз молитесь довго, — через те осуд тяжчий ви при́ймете!)

15 Горе вам, книжники та фарисеї, лицеміри, що обходите море та землю, щоб придбати нововірця одно́го; а коли те стається, то робите його сином геє́нни, вдвоє гіршим від вас!

16 Горе вам, проводирі́ ви сліпі, що говорите: „Коли хто поклянеться храмом, то нічого; а хто поклянеться золотом храму, то той винуватий“.

17 Нерозумні й сліпі, — що бо більше: чи золото, чи той храм, що освячує золото?

18 І: „Коли хто поклянеться же́ртівником, — то нічого, а хто поклянеться жертвою, що на нім, то він винуватий“.

19 Нерозумні й сліпі, — що́ бо більше: чи жертва, чи той же́ртівник, що освячує жертву?

20 Отож, хто клянеться же́ртівником, — клянеться ним та всім, що на ньому.

21 І хто храмом клянеться, — клянеться ним та Тим, Хто живе в нім.

22 І хто небом клянеться, — клянеться Божим престолом і Тим, Хто на ньому сидить.

23 Горе вам, книжники та фарисеї, лицеміри, що даєте десятину із м'я́ти, і га́нусу й кми́ну, але найважливіше в Зако́ні поки́нули: суд, милосе́рдя та віру; це треба робити, і того не ки́дати.

24 Проводирі́ ви сліпі, що відціджуєте комаря́, а верблю́да ковтаєте!

25 Горе вам, книжники та фарисеї, лицеміри, що чистите зовнішність ку́хля та миски, а всере́дині повні вони здирства й кривди!

26 Фарисею сліпий, — очисти перше сере́дину кухля, щоб чистий він був і назо́вні!

27 Горе вам, книжники та фарисеї, лицеміри, що подібні до гробі́в побі́лених, які гарними зверху здаються, а всере́дині повні трупних кісто́к та всякої нечи́стости!

28 Так і ви, — назовні здаєтеся лю́дям за праведних, а всере́дині повні лицемі́рства та беззаконня!

29 Горе вам, книжники та фарисеї, лицеміри, що пророкам надгро́бники ставите, і праведникам прикраша́єте пам'ятники,

30 та говорите: „Якби ми жили́ за днів наших батьків, то ми не були б спільника́ми їхніми в крові пророків“.

31 Тим самим на себе свідкуєте, що сини ви убивців пророків.

32 Доповніть і ви міру провини ваших батьків!

33 О змії, о ро́де гадю́чий, — я́к ви втечете від за́суду до геє́нни?

34 І ось тому́ посилаю до вас Я пророків, і мудрих, і книжників; частину їх ви повбиваєте та розіпне́те, а частину їх ви бичува́тимете в синагогах своїх, і будете гнати з міста до міста.

35 Щоб спала на вас уся праведна кров, що пролита була на землі, від крови Авеля праведного, аж до крови Заха́рія, Варахі́їного сина, що ви замордували його між храмом і же́ртівником!

36 Поправді кажу вам: Оце все спаде на рід цей!

37 Єрусалиме, Єрусалиме, що вбиваєш пророків та каменуєш посланих до те́бе! Скільки разів Я хотів зібрати діти твої, як квочка збирає під крила курчаток своїх, — та ви не захотіли!

38 Ось ваш дім залиша́ється порожній для вас!

39 Говорю́ бо Я вам: Відтепер ви Мене не побачите, аж поки не скажете: „Благословенний, Хто йде у Господнє їм'я́!“

Matthew

Chapter 23

1 THEN Jesus spoke with the people and with his disciples.

2 And he said to them, The scribes and the Pharisees sit on the chair of Moses.

3 Therefore whatever they tell you to obey, obey and do it, but do not do according to their works; for they say and do not.

4 And they bind heavy burdens, and put them on men's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to touch them, even with their finger.

5 And all their works they do, just to be seen by men; for they widen the fringes of their garments, and they lengthen the ends of their robes,

6 And they like the chief places at feasts, and the front seats in the synagogues,

7 And the greetings in the streets, and to be called by men, Rabbi.

8 But you do not be called, Rabbi; for one is your Master, and all you are brethren.

9 And call no one on earth, father, for one is your Father in heaven.

10 Nor be called leaders, for one is your leader, the Christ.

11 But he who is greatest among you, let him be your minister.

12 For whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.

13 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you embezzle the property of widows, with the pretense that you make long prayers; because of this you shall receive a greater judgment.*

14 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you have shut off the kingdom of heaven against men; for you do not enter into it yourselves, and do not permit those who would enter.

15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you traverse sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him the son of hell twice more than yourselves.

16 Woe to you, blind guides, for you say, Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold which is in the temple, he is guilty!

17 O you fools and blind! for which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold?

18 And whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the offering that is on it, he is guilty.

19 O you fools and blind! for which is greater, the offering, or the altar that sanctifies the offering?

20 Therefore he who swears by the altar, he swears by it and by everything that is on it.

21 And whoever swears by the temple, swears by it and by him who dwells in it.

22 And he who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God, and by him who sits on it.

23 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you take tithes on mint, dill, and cummin, and you have overlooked the more important matters of the law, such as justice, mercy, and trustworthiness. These were necessary for you to have done, and the same by no means to have left undone.

24 O blind guides, who strain at gnats and swallow camels!

25 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! you clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside they are full of extortion and iniquity.

26 Blind Pharisees! clean first the inside of the cup and of the dish, so that their outside may also be clean.

27 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are like tombs painted white, which look beautiful from the outside, but inside are full of dead bones and all kinds of corruption.

28 Even so, from the outside you appear to men to be righteous, but from within you are full of iniquity and hypocrisy.

29 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you build the tombs of the prophets, and you decorate the graves of the righteous;

30 And you say, If we had been living in the days of our forefathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

31 Now you testify concerning yourselves, that you are the children of those who killed the prophets.

32 You also fill up the measure of your fathers.

33 O you serpents, and seed of scorpions! how can you flee from the judgment of hell?

34 Because of this, I am sending to you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them you will kill and crucify; and some you will scourge in your synagogues, and pursue them from city to city;

35 So that all the blood of the righteous shed on the ground may come on you, from the blood of Abel the righteous down to the blood of Zachariah, son of Barachiah, whom you killed between the temple and the altar.

36 Truly I say to you, All of these things shall come upon this generation.

37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, murderess of the prophets, and stoner of those who are sent to her! how often I wanted to gather together your children, just as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and yet you would not!

38 Behold, your house will be left to you desolate.

39 For I say to you, from now you will not see me until you say, Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

1 Тоді промовив Ісус до народу й до учнів Своїх,	1 THEN Jesus spoke with the people and with his disciples.
2 і сказав: „На сиді́нні Мойсеєвім усілися книжники та фарисеї.	2 And he said to them, The scribes and the Pharisees sit on the chair of Moses.
3 Тож усе, що́ вони скажуть вам, — робіть і виконуйте; та за вчинками їхніми не робіть, бо говорять вони — та не роблять того́!	3 Therefore whatever they tell you to obey, obey and do it, but do not do according to their works; for they say and do not.

7 і привіти на ринках, і щоб звали їх люди: Учителю!	7 And the greetings in the streets, and to be called by men, Rabbi.
8 А ви вчителями не звіться, — бо один вам Учитель, а ви всі брати́.	8 But you do not be called, Rabbi; for one is your Master, and all you are brethren.
9 І не називайте нікого отцем на землі, — бо один вам Отець, що на небі.	9 And call no one on earth, father, for one is your Father in heaven.
10 І не звіться наста́вниками, — бо один вам Наста́вник, — Христос.	10 Nor be called leaders, for one is your leader, the Christ.
11 Хто між вами найбільший, хай слугою вам буде!	11 But he who is greatest among you, let him be your minister.
12 Хто бо підно́ситься, — буде понижений, хто ж понижується, той піднесе́ться.	12 For whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.
13 Горе ж вам, книжники та фарисеї, лицеміри, що перед людьми́ зачиняєте Царство Небесне, — бо й самі ви не вхо́дите, ані тих, хто хоче ввійти, увійти не пускаєте!	13 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you embezzle the property of widows, with the pretense that you make long prayers; because of this you shall receive a greater judgment.*
14 (Горе ж вам, книжники та фарисеї, лицеміри, що вдови́ні хати поїдаєте, і напо́каз молитесь довго, — через те осуд тяжчий ви при́ймете!)	14 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you have shut off the kingdom of heaven against men; for you do not enter into it yourselves, and do not permit those who would enter.
15 Горе вам, книжники та фарисеї, лицеміри, що обходите море та землю, щоб придбати нововірця одно́го; а коли те стається, то робите його сином геє́нни, вдвоє гіршим від вас!	15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you traverse sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him the son of hell twice more than yourselves.

17 Нерозумні й сліпі, — що бо більше: чи золото, чи той храм, що освячує золото?	17 O you fools and blind! for which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold?
18 І: „Коли хто поклянеться же́ртівником, — то нічого, а хто поклянеться жертвою, що на нім, то він винуватий“.	18 And whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the offering that is on it, he is guilty.
19 Нерозумні й сліпі, — що́ бо більше: чи жертва, чи той же́ртівник, що освячує жертву?	19 O you fools and blind! for which is greater, the offering, or the altar that sanctifies the offering?
20 Отож, хто клянеться же́ртівником, — клянеться ним та всім, що на ньому.	20 Therefore he who swears by the altar, he swears by it and by everything that is on it.
21 І хто храмом клянеться, — клянеться ним та Тим, Хто живе в нім.	21 And whoever swears by the temple, swears by it and by him who dwells in it.
22 І хто небом клянеться, — клянеться Божим престолом і Тим, Хто на ньому сидить.	22 And he who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God, and by him who sits on it.
23 Горе вам, книжники та фарисеї, лицеміри, що даєте десятину із м'я́ти, і га́нусу й кми́ну, але найважливіше в Зако́ні поки́нули: суд, милосе́рдя та віру; це треба робити, і того не ки́дати.	23 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you take tithes on mint, dill, and cummin, and you have overlooked the more important matters of the law, such as justice, mercy, and trustworthiness. These were necessary for you to have done, and the same by no means to have left undone.

27 Горе вам, книжники та фарисеї, лицеміри, що подібні до гробі́в побі́лених, які гарними зверху здаються, а всере́дині повні трупних кісто́к та всякої нечи́стости!	27 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are like tombs painted white, which look beautiful from the outside, but inside are full of dead bones and all kinds of corruption.
28 Так і ви, — назовні здаєтеся лю́дям за праведних, а всере́дині повні лицемі́рства та беззаконня!	28 Even so, from the outside you appear to men to be righteous, but from within you are full of iniquity and hypocrisy.
29 Горе вам, книжники та фарисеї, лицеміри, що пророкам надгро́бники ставите, і праведникам прикраша́єте пам'ятники,	29 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you build the tombs of the prophets, and you decorate the graves of the righteous;
30 та говорите: „Якби ми жили́ за днів наших батьків, то ми не були б спільника́ми їхніми в крові пророків“.	30 And you say, If we had been living in the days of our forefathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

34 І ось тому́ посилаю до вас Я пророків, і мудрих, і книжників; частину їх ви повбиваєте та розіпне́те, а частину їх ви бичува́тимете в синагогах своїх, і будете гнати з міста до міста.	34 Because of this, I am sending to you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them you will kill and crucify; and some you will scourge in your synagogues, and pursue them from city to city;
35 Щоб спала на вас уся праведна кров, що пролита була на землі, від крови Авеля праведного, аж до крови Заха́рія, Варахі́їного сина, що ви замордували його між храмом і же́ртівником!	35 So that all the blood of the righteous shed on the ground may come on you, from the blood of Abel the righteous down to the blood of Zachariah, son of Barachiah, whom you killed between the temple and the altar.
