2 І сказав Він: „Що́ бачиш, Амо́се?“ А я відказав: „Кіш доспілих плоді́в“. І промовив до мене Господь: „Доспі́в кінець Моє́му наро́дові Ізраїлеві, — уже більше йому не прощу́! |
|
3 І обе́рнуться пісні в пала́тах на зойк того дня, — говорить Господь Бог: буде тру́пів багато, — бо во́рог на кожному місці наки́дає їх! |
|
4 Послухайте це, ви, що то́пчете бідного, і що пра́гнете ви́нищити всіх убогих з землі, |
|
5 кажучи: Коли то мине новомі́сяччя, — щоб нам збіжжя прода́ти? і субота, — щоб нам відчини́ти збіже́ві комо́ри! Щоб зменши́ти ефу́, і щоб ше́кля побі́льшити, і щоб викривля́ти обманну вагу́, |
|
6 щоб купува́ти за срі́бло нужде́нних, а вбогого за взуття́, і попро́дати по́слід збіже́вий? |
|
7 Госпо́дь присягнув славою Якова: Не забуду ніко́ли усіх їхніх вчинків! |
|
8 Чи не затрясе́ться від цього земля, і всі мешка́нці її не впадуть у жало́бу? Вся вона захвилю́ється, мов та Ріка́, і бурхливо попли́не й обни́зиться знов, немов рі́чка Єгипту. |
|
9 І станеться в день той, — говорить Господь Бог, — і вчиню́ захід сонця опі́вдні, і для землі серед світлого дня воно сте́мніє. |
|
10 І оберну́ ваші свята в жало́бу, а всі ваші пісні́ — в голосі́ння, і на всі сте́гна спрова́джу вере́ту, а на всякую го́лову ли́сину, і вчиню́ це, немов та жало́ба по одинако́ві, кінець же отого, — немов гірки́й день! |

12 І бу́дуть ходити від моря до моря, і з пі́вночі до сходу блука́тимуть, щоб знайти слово Господа, — та не зна́йдуть його́! |
|
13 Того дня будуть мліти від спра́ги вродли́ві дівчата та хлопці, |
|
14 що кляну́ться гріхом самарі́йським та кажуть: Як живий твій Бог, Дане, і як жива дорога до Беер-Шеви! Та вони всі попа́дають, і більше не встануть |
AmosChapter 8 |

1 THUS has the LORD God showed me: and behold, a sign of the end. |
|
2 And the LORD said to me, Amos, what do you see? And I said, A sign of the end. Then the LORD said to me, The end is come upon my people Israel; I will not again cause it to pass by them any more. |
|
3 And the songs of the temple shall be howling in that day, says the LORD God; there shall be many dead bodies in every place; and they shall be cast away to destruction. |
|
4 Hear this, O you who wrong the poor, and cause the needy of the land to come to an end, |
|
5 Saying, When will the month be over, that we may sell grain? When will the sabbath be over that we may open storehouses and make our measures small and enlarge weights and make deceitful balances? |
|
6 That we may sell to the poor for silver, and pay the needy with the refuse of the wheat, and sell the refuse which is left on the floor of the storehouses. |
|
7 The LORD, the Mighty One of Jacob, has sworn, Surely, I will never forget any of their works. |
|
8 Shall not the land tremble for these things, and every one mourn who dwells in it? The end shall come up like a flooded river; and it shall cast things away, and then recede like the river of Egypt. |
|
9 And it shall come to pass in that day, says the LORD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the daylight. |
|
10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentation; and I will put sackcloth upon all your loins and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning for an only son, and the end of it as a bitter day. |
|
11 Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will send a famine in the land; not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the word of the LORD; |
|
12 And they shall gather together from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east; they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. |
|
13 In that day the beautiful virgins and the young men shall faint for thirst. |
|
14 They that swore by the idols of Samaria, saying, As your god lives, O Dan, and, as the cult of Beer-sheba lives, even they shall fall and never rise again. |
