2 И жена802 Галаадова1568 родила3205 ему сыновей.1121 Когда возмужали1431 сыновья1121 жены,802 изгнали1644 они Иеффая,3316 сказав559 ему: ты не наследник5157 в доме1004 отца1 нашего, потому что ты сын1121 другой312 женщины.802

3 И убежал1272 Иеффай3316 от братьев251 своих и жил3427 в земле776 Тов;2897 и собрались3950 к Иеффаю3316 праздные7386 люди582 и выходили3318 с ним.

4 Чрез несколько времени3117 Аммонитяне11215983 пошли3898 войною3898 на Израиля.3478

7 Иеффай3316 сказал559 старейшинам2205 Галаадским:1568 не вы ли возненавидели8130 меня и выгнали1644 из дома1004 отца1 моего? зачем же пришли935 ко мне ныне, когда вы в беде?6887

8 Старейшины2205 Галаадские1568 сказали559 Иеффаю:3316 для того мы теперь пришли7725 к тебе, чтобы ты пошел1980 с нами и сразился3898 с Аммонитянами11215983 и был у нас начальником7218 всех жителей3427 Галаадских.1568

11 И пошел3212 Иеффай3316 со старейшинами2205 Галаадскими,1568 и народ5971 поставил7760 его над собою начальником7218 и вождем,7101 и Иеффай3316 произнес1696 все слова1697 свои пред3942 лицем3942 Господа3068 в Массифе.4709

15 сказать559 ему: так говорит559 Иеффай:3316 Израиль3478 не взял3947 земли776 Моавитской4124 и земли776 Аммонитской;11215983

16 ибо когда шли5927 из Египта,4714 Израиль3478 пошел3212 в пустыню4057 к Чермному5488 морю3220 и пришел935 в Кадес;6946

17 оттуда послал7971 Израиль3478 послов4397 к царю4428 Едомскому123 сказать:559 «позволь мне пройти5674 землею776 твоею»; но царь4428 Едомский123 не послушал;8085 и к царю4428 Моавитскому4124 он посылал,7971 но и тот не согласился;14 посему Израиль3478 оставался3427 в Кадесе.6946

19 И послал7971 Израиль3478 послов4397 к Сигону,5511 царю4428 Аморрейскому,567 царю4428 Есевонскому,2809 и сказал559 ему Израиль:3478 позволь нам пройти5674 землею776 твоею в5704 свое место.4725

20 Но Сигон5511 не согласился539 пропустить5674 Израиля3478 чрез5674 пределы1366 свои, и собрал622 Сигон5511 весь народ5971 свой, и расположился2583 станом2583 в Иааце,3096 и сразился3898 с Израилем.3478

21 И предал5414 Господь3068 Бог430 Израилев3478 Сигона5511 и весь народ5971 его в руки3027 Израилю,3478 и он побил5221 их; и получил3423 Израиль3478 в наследие3423 всю землю776 Аморрея,567 жившего3427 в земле776 той;

22 и получили3423 они в наследие3423 все пределы1366 Аморрея567 от Арнона769 до Иавока2999 и от пустыни4057 до Иордана.3383

23 Итак Господь3068 Бог430 Израилев3478 изгнал3423 Аморрея567 от лица6440 народа5971 Своего Израиля,3478 а ты хочешь взять3423 его наследие?3423

24 Не владеешь3423 ли ты тем, что дал3423 тебе Хамос,3645 бог430 твой? И мы владеем3423 всем тем, что дал3423 нам в наследие Господь3068 Бог430 наш.

25 Разве ты лучше2896 Валака,1111 сына1121 Сепфорова,6834 царя4428 Моавитского?4124 Ссорился7378 ли он с Израилем,3478 или воевал3898 ли с ними?

26 Израиль3478 уже живет3427 триста79693967 лет8141 в Есевоне2809 и в зависящих1323 от него городах, в Ароере6177 и зависящих1323 от него городах, и во всех городах,5892 которые близ3027 Арнона;769 для чего вы в то время6256 не отнимали5337 их?

27 А я не виновен2398 пред тобою, и ты делаешь6213853 мне зло,7451 выступив3898 против меня войною.3898 Господь3068 Судия8199 да будет8199 ныне3117 судьею8199 между сынами1121 Израиля3478 и между Аммонитянами!11215983

28 Но царь4428 Аммонитский11215983 не послушал8085 слов1697 Иеффая,3316 с которыми он посылал7971 к нему.

29 И был на Иеффае3316 Дух7307 Господень,3068 и прошел5674 он Галаад1568 и Манассию,4519 и прошел5674 Массифу4708 Галаадскую,1568 и из Массифы4708 Галаадской1568 пошел5674 к Аммонитянам.11215983

30 И дал5087 Иеффай3316 обет5088 Господу3068 и сказал:559 если Ты предашь5414 Аммонитян11215983 в руки3027 мои,

31 то по возвращении7725 моем с миром7965 от Аммонитян,11215983 что выйдет3318 из ворот1817 дома1004 моего навстречу7125 мне, будет Господу,3068 и вознесу5927 сие на всесожжение.5930

32 И пришел5674 Иеффай3316 к Аммонитянам11215983 — сразиться3898 с ними, и предал5414 их Господь3068 в руки3027 его;

33 и поразил5221 их поражением4347 весьма3966 великим,1419 от Ароера6177 до935 Минифа4511 двадцать6242 городов,5892 и до Авель58-Керамима,375464 и смирились3665 Аммонитяне11215983 пред сынами1121 Израилевыми.3478

34 И пришел935 Иеффай3316 в Массифу4709 в дом1004 свой, и вот, дочь1323 его выходит3318 навстречу7125 ему с тимпанами8596 и ликами:4246 она была у него только одна,3173 и не было у него еще ни сына,1121 ни176 дочери.1323

35 Когда он увидел7200 ее, разодрал7167 одежду899 свою и сказал:559 ах,162 дочь1323 моя! ты сразила3766 меня; и ты в числе5916 нарушителей5916 покоя5916 моего! я отверз6475 о тебе уста6310 мои пред Господом3068 и не могу3201 отречься.7725

36 Она сказала559 ему: отец1 мой! ты отверз6475 уста6310 твои пред Господом3068 — и делай6213 со мною то, что834 произнесли3318 уста6310 твои, когда310 Господь3068 совершил6213 чрез тебя отмщение5360 врагам341 твоим Аммонитянам.11215983

37 И сказала559 отцу1 своему: сделай6213 мне только вот что:1697 отпусти7503 меня на два8147 месяца;2320 я пойду,3212 взойду3381 на горы2022 и оплачу1058 девство1331 мое с подругами74647474 моими.

38 Он сказал:559 пойди.3212 И отпустил7971 ее на два8147 месяца.2320 Она пошла3212 с подругами7464 своими и оплакивала1058 девство1331 свое в горах.2022

39 По прошествии7093 двух8147 месяцев2320 она возвратилась7725 к отцу1 своему, и он совершил6213 над нею обет5088 свой, который дал,5087 и она не познала3045 мужа.376 И вошло в обычай2706 у Израиля,3478

40 что ежегодно31173117 дочери1323 Израилевы3478 ходили3212 оплакивать8567 дочь1323 Иеффая3316 Галаадитянина,1569 четыре702 дня3117 в году.8141

Chapter 11

1 NOW Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valor, but he was the son of a harlot; and Gilead begat Jephthah.

2 And Gilead's wife bore him sons; and when his wife's sons grew up, they expelled Jephthah, saying, He shall not inherit in our father's house, because he is the son of another woman.

3 Then Jephthah fled from his brothers, and dwelt in the land of Tobtha; and there were gathered worthless men to Jephthah, and they went raiding with him.

4 And it came to pass after a time, the children of Ammon made war against Israel.

5 And when the children of Ammon made war against the children of Israel, the elders of Gilead went to bring Jephthah from the land of Tobtha;

6 And they said to Jephthah, Come and be our leader, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.

7 And Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, Did you not hate me and expel me from my father's house? And why have you come to me now when you are in distress?

8 And the elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, That is why we have come to you now, that you may go with us and fight against the children of Ammon and be the leader over all the inhabitants of Gilead.

9 And Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, If you bring me back to fight against the children of Ammon, and the LORD deliver them before me, shall I be your chief?

10 And the elders of Gilead said to him, The LORD shall be witness between us, if we do not so according to your words.

11 Then Jephthah went with the eiders of Gilead, and the people made him chief and ruler over them; and Jephthah uttered all his words before the LORD in Mizpeh.

12 And Jephthah sent messengers to the king of the children of Ammon, saying, What have we against each other, that you have come against me to fight in my land?

13 And the king of the children of Ammon said to the messengers of Jephthah, Because the children of Israel took away my land when they came up out of the land of Egypt from Arnon even to Jabbok and to the Jordan, now therefore restore these lands to me peaceably.

14 And Jephthah sent letters and messengers again to the king of the children of Ammon;

15 And said to him, Thus says Jephthah, Israel did not take away the land of Moab nor the land of the children of Ammon;

16 Because when the children of Israel came up from Egypt, Israel journeyed through the wilderness as far as the Red Sea, and came to Rakim;

17 Then Israel sent messengers to the king of Edom, saying, Let me pass through your land; but the king of Edom would not listen. And they sent also to the king of Moab; but he would not consent; so Israel stayed in Rakim.

18 Then they journeyed through the wilderness, and went around the land of Edom and the land of Moab, and they encamped on the other side of Arnon, but they did not enter the territory of Moab; for Arnon was the border of Moab.

19 And Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon; and Israel said to him, Let us pass through your land until we come to our land.

20 But Sihon did not trust Israel to pass through his territory; so Sihon gathered all his people together and encamped at Jahaz and fought against Israel.

21 And the LORD our God delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and Israel destroyed the land of the Amorites.

22 And they possessed all their territory, from Arnon as far as Jabbok, and from the wilderness even to the Jordan.

23 So now after the LORD God of Israel has destroyed the Amorites from before his people Israel, are you to possess their land?

24 Will you not possess that which Chemosh your god gives you to possess? So whomever the LORD our God has destroyed from before us, their land will we possess.

25 And now are you any better than Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab. Did he ever strive against Israel? Or did he ever fight against them?

26 While Israel dwelt in Heshbon and its villages, and in Adoer and its villages, and in all the cities that are along the banks of Arnon, three hundred years? Why did you not recover them within that time?

27 Now therefore I have not sinned against you, but you do me wrong to make war against me; let the LORD judge this day between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon.

28 But the king of the children of Ammon did not listen to the words of Jephthah which he sent him.

29 Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead; and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over to the children of Ammon.

30 And Jephthah vowed a vow to the LORD, and said, If thou wilt surely deliver the children of Ammon into my hands,

31 Then whosoever comes forth of the door of my house to meet me when I return in peace from the children of Ammon shall be the LORD'S, and I will offer him up for a burnt offering.

32 So Jephthah passed over to the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hands.

33 And he smote them from Adoer, as far as the entrance of Machir, twenty cities, and as far as Abel Karmin, the plain of vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were defeated before the children of Israel.

34 Then Jephthah came to Mizpeh to his house, and, behold, his daughter carne out to meet him with timbrels and with dances; and she was his only child; besides her he had neither son nor daughter.

35 And when he saw her, he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! You have brought me very low, and you have become today one of those that ruin me; for I have made a promise to God, and I cannot go back on it.

36 And his daughter said to him, My father, if you have made a promise to God, do to me according to that which has proceeded out of your mouth; since the LORD has taken vengeance for you on your enemies, even of the children of Ammon.

37 And she said to her father, Grant me this thing only: let me alone two months that I may go and wander on the mountains and bewail my virginity, I and my companions.

38 And he said, Go. And he sent her away for two months: and she went with her companions, and bewailed her virginity on the mountains.

39 And at the end of two months, she returned to her father, who did with her according to his vow; and she knew no man. And it became a custom among the children of Israel,

40 That the daughters of Israel went yearly to weep and lament over the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite four days in a year.

5 And when the children of Ammon made war against the children of Israel, the elders of Gilead went to bring Jephthah from the land of Tobtha;

6 And they said to Jephthah, Come and be our leader, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.

7 And Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, Did you not hate me and expel me from my father's house? And why have you come to me now when you are in distress?

10 And the elders of Gilead said to him, The LORD shall be witness between us, if we do not so according to your words.

13 And the king of the children of Ammon said to the messengers of Jephthah, Because the children of Israel took away my land when they came up out of the land of Egypt from Arnon even to Jabbok and to the Jordan, now therefore restore these lands to me peaceably.

14 And Jephthah sent letters and messengers again to the king of the children of Ammon;

15 And said to him, Thus says Jephthah, Israel did not take away the land of Moab nor the land of the children of Ammon;

16 Because when the children of Israel came up from Egypt, Israel journeyed through the wilderness as far as the Red Sea, and came to Rakim;

17 Then Israel sent messengers to the king of Edom, saying, Let me pass through your land; but the king of Edom would not listen. And they sent also to the king of Moab; but he would not consent; so Israel stayed in Rakim.

18 Then they journeyed through the wilderness, and went around the land of Edom and the land of Moab, and they encamped on the other side of Arnon, but they did not enter the territory of Moab; for Arnon was the border of Moab.

19 И послал7971 Израиль3478 послов4397 к Сигону,5511 царю4428 Аморрейскому,567 царю4428 Есевонскому,2809 и сказал559 ему Израиль:3478 позволь нам пройти5674 землею776 твоею в5704 свое место.4725

19 And Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon; and Israel said to him, Let us pass through your land until we come to our land.

20 Но Сигон5511 не согласился539 пропустить5674 Израиля3478 чрез5674 пределы1366 свои, и собрал622 Сигон5511 весь народ5971 свой, и расположился2583 станом2583 в Иааце,3096 и сразился3898 с Израилем.3478

20 But Sihon did not trust Israel to pass through his territory; so Sihon gathered all his people together and encamped at Jahaz and fought against Israel.

21 И предал5414 Господь3068 Бог430 Израилев3478 Сигона5511 и весь народ5971 его в руки3027 Израилю,3478 и он побил5221 их; и получил3423 Израиль3478 в наследие3423 всю землю776 Аморрея,567 жившего3427 в земле776 той;

21 And the LORD our God delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and Israel destroyed the land of the Amorites.

22 и получили3423 они в наследие3423 все пределы1366 Аморрея567 от Арнона769 до Иавока2999 и от пустыни4057 до Иордана.3383

22 And they possessed all their territory, from Arnon as far as Jabbok, and from the wilderness even to the Jordan.

23 Итак Господь3068 Бог430 Израилев3478 изгнал3423 Аморрея567 от лица6440 народа5971 Своего Израиля,3478 а ты хочешь взять3423 его наследие?3423

23 So now after the LORD God of Israel has destroyed the Amorites from before his people Israel, are you to possess their land?

24 Не владеешь3423 ли ты тем, что дал3423 тебе Хамос,3645 бог430 твой? И мы владеем3423 всем тем, что дал3423 нам в наследие Господь3068 Бог430 наш.

24 Will you not possess that which Chemosh your god gives you to possess? So whomever the LORD our God has destroyed from before us, their land will we possess.

27 Now therefore I have not sinned against you, but you do me wrong to make war against me; let the LORD judge this day between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon.

28 Но царь4428 Аммонитский11215983 не послушал8085 слов1697 Иеффая,3316 с которыми он посылал7971 к нему.

28 But the king of the children of Ammon did not listen to the words of Jephthah which he sent him.

29 И был на Иеффае3316 Дух7307 Господень,3068 и прошел5674 он Галаад1568 и Манассию,4519 и прошел5674 Массифу4708 Галаадскую,1568 и из Массифы4708 Галаадской1568 пошел5674 к Аммонитянам.11215983

29 Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead; and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over to the children of Ammon.

30 И дал5087 Иеффай3316 обет5088 Господу3068 и сказал:559 если Ты предашь5414 Аммонитян11215983 в руки3027 мои,

30 And Jephthah vowed a vow to the LORD, and said, If thou wilt surely deliver the children of Ammon into my hands,

31 то по возвращении7725 моем с миром7965 от Аммонитян,11215983 что выйдет3318 из ворот1817 дома1004 моего навстречу7125 мне, будет Господу,3068 и вознесу5927 сие на всесожжение.5930

31 Then whosoever comes forth of the door of my house to meet me when I return in peace from the children of Ammon shall be the LORD'S, and I will offer him up for a burnt offering.

32 И пришел5674 Иеффай3316 к Аммонитянам11215983 — сразиться3898 с ними, и предал5414 их Господь3068 в руки3027 его;

32 So Jephthah passed over to the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hands.

33 и поразил5221 их поражением4347 весьма3966 великим,1419 от Ароера6177 до935 Минифа4511 двадцать6242 городов,5892 и до Авель58-Керамима,375464 и смирились3665 Аммонитяне11215983 пред сынами1121 Израилевыми.3478

33 And he smote them from Adoer, as far as the entrance of Machir, twenty cities, and as far as Abel Karmin, the plain of vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were defeated before the children of Israel.

34 И пришел935 Иеффай3316 в Массифу4709 в дом1004 свой, и вот, дочь1323 его выходит3318 навстречу7125 ему с тимпанами8596 и ликами:4246 она была у него только одна,3173 и не было у него еще ни сына,1121 ни176 дочери.1323

34 Then Jephthah came to Mizpeh to his house, and, behold, his daughter carne out to meet him with timbrels and with dances; and she was his only child; besides her he had neither son nor daughter.

35 Когда он увидел7200 ее, разодрал7167 одежду899 свою и сказал:559 ах,162 дочь1323 моя! ты сразила3766 меня; и ты в числе5916 нарушителей5916 покоя5916 моего! я отверз6475 о тебе уста6310 мои пред Господом3068 и не могу3201 отречься.7725

35 And when he saw her, he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! You have brought me very low, and you have become today one of those that ruin me; for I have made a promise to God, and I cannot go back on it.

36 Она сказала559 ему: отец1 мой! ты отверз6475 уста6310 твои пред Господом3068 — и делай6213 со мною то, что834 произнесли3318 уста6310 твои, когда310 Господь3068 совершил6213 чрез тебя отмщение5360 врагам341 твоим Аммонитянам.11215983

36 And his daughter said to him, My father, if you have made a promise to God, do to me according to that which has proceeded out of your mouth; since the LORD has taken vengeance for you on your enemies, even of the children of Ammon.

37 И сказала559 отцу1 своему: сделай6213 мне только вот что:1697 отпусти7503 меня на два8147 месяца;2320 я пойду,3212 взойду3381 на горы2022 и оплачу1058 девство1331 мое с подругами74647474 моими.

37 And she said to her father, Grant me this thing only: let me alone two months that I may go and wander on the mountains and bewail my virginity, I and my companions.

38 Он сказал:559 пойди.3212 И отпустил7971 ее на два8147 месяца.2320 Она пошла3212 с подругами7464 своими и оплакивала1058 девство1331 свое в горах.2022

38 And he said, Go. And he sent her away for two months: and she went with her companions, and bewailed her virginity on the mountains.

39 По прошествии7093 двух8147 месяцев2320 она возвратилась7725 к отцу1 своему, и он совершил6213 над нею обет5088 свой, который дал,5087 и она не познала3045 мужа.376 И вошло в обычай2706 у Израиля,3478

39 And at the end of two months, she returned to her father, who did with her according to his vow; and she knew no man. And it became a custom among the children of Israel,

40 что ежегодно31173117 дочери1323 Израилевы3478 ходили3212 оплакивать8567 дочь1323 Иеффая3316 Галаадитянина,1569 четыре702 дня3117 в году.8141

40 That the daughters of Israel went yearly to weep and lament over the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite four days in a year.
