Глава 11

1 А был болен один человек, Лазарь из Вифании, из селения Марии и Марфы, сестры ее.

2 Мария же была та, которая помазала Господа миром и отерла ноги Его волосами своими; ее брат Лазарь был болен.

3 Послали сестры сказать Ему: Господи, вот тот, кого Ты любишь, болен.

4 Услышав это, Иисус сказал: болезнь эта не к смерти, но во славу Божию, чтобы прославлен был Сын Божий чрез нее.

5 Любил Иисус Марфу и сестру ее и Лазаря.

6 А когда услышал, что Лазарь болен, тогда остался Он два дня на том месте, где был.

7 Затем, после этого, Он говорит ученикам: идем снова в Иудею.

8 Говорят Ему ученики: Равви, только что искали Иудеи побить Тебя камнями, и Ты снова идешь туда?

9 Ответил Иисус: не двенадцать ли часов в дне? Кто ходит днем, не спотыкается, потому что видит свет мира сего.

10 А кто ходит ночью, спотыкается, потому что нет света в нем.

11 Сказал Он это, и говорит им потом: Лазарь, друг наш, уснул; но Я иду разбудить его.

12 Сказали Ему ученики: Господи, если уснул, будет спасен.

13 Но сказал Иисус о смерти его, а они подумали, что говорит Он о простом сне.

14 Тогда и сказал им Иисус прямо: Лазарь умер.

15 И Я радуюсь за вас, что Я не был там, дабы вы уверовали. Но идем к нему.

16 Тогда Фома, называемый Близнец, сказал другим ученикам: идем и мы, чтобы умереть с Ним.

17 Придя, Иисус нашел, что он уже четыре дня в гробнице.

18 Была же Вифания близ Иерусалима, стадиях в пятнадцати.

19 И многие из Иудеев пришли к Марфе и Марии утешить их в горе о брате.

20 Марфа, когда услышала, что Иисус идет, вышла к Нему навстречу; Мария же сидела у себя в доме.

21 Сказала тогда Марфа Иисусу: Господи, если бы Ты был здесь, не умер бы брат мой.

22 Я и теперь знаю, что о чем бы Ты ни попросил Бога, даст Тебе Бог.

23 Говорит ей Иисус: воскреснет брат твой.

24 Говорит Ему Марфа: знаю, что воскреснет в воскресение, в последний день.

25 Сказал ей Иисус: Я — воскресение и жизнь; верующий в Меня, если и умрет, оживет;

26 и всякий живущий и верующий в Меня не умрет вовек. Веришь ли ты в это?

27 Говорит она Ему: да, Господи, я уверовала и верую, что Ты — Христос, Сын Божий, грядущий в мир.

28 И сказав это, она пошла и позвала Марию, сестру свою, сказав тайно: Учитель здесь и зовет тебя.

29 Она же, когда услышала, встала поспешно и пошла к Нему.

30 Еще не вошел Иисус в селение, но всё еще был на том месте, где встретила Его Марфа.

31 Тогда Иудеи, бывшие с ней в доме и утешавшие ее, увидев, как Мария поспешно встала и вышла, последовали за ней, думая, что она идет к гробнице, чтобы плакать там.

32 А Мария, когда пришла туда, где был Иисус, увидев Его, пала к Его ногам и сказала Ему: Господи, если бы Ты был здесь, не умер бы мой брат.

33 Иисус, когда увидел ее плачущую и пришедших с ней Иудеев плачущих, возмутился духом и пришел в волнение,

34 и сказал: где вы положили его? Говорят Ему: Господи, иди и посмотри.

35 Прослезился Иисус.

36 Говорили тогда Иудеи: вот, как Он любил его.

37 А некоторые из них сказали: не мог ли Он, открывший глаза слепому, сделать, чтобы и этот не умер?

38 Иисус, снова возмущаясь в Себе, приходит к гробнице: это была пещера, и камень закрывал ее.

39 Говорит Иисус: возьмите камень. Говорит ему сестра умершего, Марфа: Господи, уже смердит: ведь ему четвертый день.

40 Говорит ей Иисус: не сказал ли Я тебе, что, если уверуешь, увидишь славу Божию?

41 Тогда взяли камень. Иисус же поднял глаза ввысь и сказал: Отче, благодарю Тебя, что Ты услышал Меня.

42 Я знал, что Ты всегда Меня слышишь, но сказал ради народа, стоящего кругом, чтобы они уверовали, что Ты Меня послал.

43 И сказав это, воззвал громким голосом: Лазарь, выходи.

44 И вышел умерший, связанный по рукам и ногам погребальными перевязями, и лицо его было обернуто платком. Говорит им Иисус: развяжите его и пустите его идти.

45 Тогда многие из Иудеев, пришедшие к Марии и увидевшие, что Он сотворил, уверовали в Него.

46 А некоторые из них пошли к фарисеям и сказали им, что сотворил Иисус.

47 Собрали тогда первосвященники и фарисеи совещание и говорили: что нам делать, потому что Этот Человек много творит знамений?

48 Если оставим Его так, все уверуют в Него, и придут Римляне и уничтожат у нас и храм и народ.

49 Один же из них, Каиафа, будучи на тот год первосвященником, сказал им: вы не знаете ничего,

50 и не разумеете, что лучше для вас, чтобы один человек умер за народ, а не весь народ погиб.

51 Это он сказал не от себя, но будучи на тот год первосвященником, пророчествовал, что предстояло Иисусу умереть за народ, —

52 и не за народ только, но для того, чтобы и рассеянных детей Божиих собрать воедино.

53 С этого дня они приняли решение убить Его.

54 Поэтому Иисус больше не ходил открыто между Иудеями, но пошел оттуда в страну близ пустыни, в город, называемый Ефраим, и там остался с учениками.

55 А была близко Пасха Иудейская, и пришли многие в Иерусалим из страны той перед Пасхой, чтобы очиститься.

56 Искали тогда Иисуса и говорили между собой, стоя в храме: как вам кажется? Он, конечно, не придет на Праздник?

57 А первосвященники и фарисеи дали приказ, чтобы, если кто узнает, где Он, донес, дабы схватить Его.

Chapter 11

1 NOW there was a man who was sick, Lazarus of the town of Bethany, the brother of Mary and Martha.

2 This is the Mary who anointed the feet of Jesus with perfume and wiped them with her hair. Lazarus who was sick, was her brother.

3 His two sisters therefore sent to Jesus, saying, Our Lord, behold, the one whom you love is sick.

4 Jesus said, This is not a sickness of death, but for the sake of the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified on his account.

5 Now Jesus loved Martha and Mary and Lazarus.

6 When he heard he was sick, he remained two days in the place where he was.

7 After that he said to his disciples, Come, let us go again to Judaea.

8 His disciples said to him, Teacher, not long ago the Jews wanted to stone you, and yet are you going there again?

9 Jesus said to them, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If a man walks by day time, he will not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.

10 But if a man travels at night time, he will stumble, because there is no light in it.

11 Jesus said these things; and after that he said to them, Our friend Lazarus is asleep; but I am going to awake him.

12 His disciples said to him, Our Lord, if he is sleeping, he will get well.

13 But Jesus spoke of his death; and they thought that what he said was sleeping in bed.

14 Then Jesus said to them, plainly, Lazarus is dead.

15 And I am glad I was not there, for your sakes, so that you may believe; but let us walk there.

16 Then Thomas, who is called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, Let us also go, and die with him.

17 So Jesus came to Bethany, and he found that he had been four days in the tomb.

18 Now Bethany was towards Jerusalem, a distance of about two miles.

19 And many Jews kept coming to Martha and Mary, to comfort their hearts concerning their brother.

20 When Martha heard that Jesus had come, she went out to meet him; but Mary sat in the house.

21 Then Martha said to Jesus, My Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

22 But even now I know that whatever you ask of God, he will give you.

23 Jesus said to her, Your brother will rise up.

24 Martha said to him, I know he will rise up in the resurrection at the last day.

25 Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, even though he die, he shall live.

26 And whoever is alive and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?

27 She said to him, Yes, my Lord; I do believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come to the world.

28 And when she had said these things, she went away and called her sister Mary secretly, and said to her, Our teacher has come, and he is calling you.

29 When Mary heard it, she rose up quickly and came to him.

30 Jesus had not yet come into the town, but he was still at the same place where Martha met him.

31 The Jews also who were with her in the house, comforting her, when they saw Mary rise up quickly and go out, followed her, for they thought she was going to the tomb to weep.

32 When Mary came where Jesus was, and saw him, she threw herself at his feet, and said to him, My Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews weeping, who had come with her, he was moved in his spirit, and was greatly disturbed.

34 And he said, Where have you laid him? They said to him, Our Lord, come and see.

35 And Jesus was in tears.

36 The Jews then said, Look, how much he loved him!

37 Some of them said, Could not this man, who opened the eyes of that blind man, have also kept this man from dying?

38 As Jesus was disturbed in himself because of them, he came to the tomb. That tomb was a cave, and a stone was placed at the entrance.

39 Jesus said, Take away this stone. Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, My Lord, he is already disfigured, for he is dead four days.

40 Jesus said to her, Did not I say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?

41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted his eyes upwards, and said, O Father, I thank you for you have heard me,

42 And I know that you always hear me; but I say these things just because of this people who stand around, so that they may believe that you have sent me.

43 And when he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come outside.

44 And the dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with burial clothes; and his face bound with a burial napkin. Jesus said to them, Loose him and let him go.

45 Many of the Jews who had come to Mary, when they saw what Jesus had done, believed in him.

46 And some of them went to the Pharisees, and told them everything Jesus had done.

47 So the high priests and the Pharisees gathered together and said, What shall we do? for this man does many miracles?

48 If we allow him to continue like this, all men will believe in him; and the Romans will come and take over both our country and our people.

49 But one of them, called Caiaphas, who was the high priest for that year, said to them, You know nothing;

50 Nor do you reason that it is much better for us that one man should die instead of the people, and not all the people perish.

51 He did not say this of himself; but because he was the high priest for that year, he prophesied that Jesus had to die for the sake of the people;

52 And not only for the sake of the people, but also to gather together the children of God who are scattered abroad.

53 And from that very day, they decided to kill him.

54 Jesus therefore did not walk openly among the Jews, but went away thence to a place which is close to the wilderness, in the province of Ephraim; and he remained there with his disciples.

55 Now the Jewish passover was at hand; and many went up from the towns to Jerusalem, before the feast, to purify themselves.

56 And they were looking for Jesus, and at the temple they kept saying to one another, What do you think, will he not come to the feast?

57 But the high priests and the Pharisees had already commanded, that if any man should know where he is, to let them know, so that they might seize him.

1 NOW there was a man who was sick, Lazarus of the town of Bethany, the brother of Mary and Martha.

2 Мария же была та, которая помазала Господа миром и отерла ноги Его волосами своими; ее брат Лазарь был болен.

2 This is the Mary who anointed the feet of Jesus with perfume and wiped them with her hair. Lazarus who was sick, was her brother.

3 Послали сестры сказать Ему: Господи, вот тот, кого Ты любишь, болен.

3 His two sisters therefore sent to Jesus, saying, Our Lord, behold, the one whom you love is sick.

4 Услышав это, Иисус сказал: болезнь эта не к смерти, но во славу Божию, чтобы прославлен был Сын Божий чрез нее.

4 Jesus said, This is not a sickness of death, but for the sake of the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified on his account.

5 Любил Иисус Марфу и сестру ее и Лазаря.

5 Now Jesus loved Martha and Mary and Lazarus.

6 А когда услышал, что Лазарь болен, тогда остался Он два дня на том месте, где был.

6 When he heard he was sick, he remained two days in the place where he was.

7 Затем, после этого, Он говорит ученикам: идем снова в Иудею.

7 After that he said to his disciples, Come, let us go again to Judaea.

8 Говорят Ему ученики: Равви, только что искали Иудеи побить Тебя камнями, и Ты снова идешь туда?

8 His disciples said to him, Teacher, not long ago the Jews wanted to stone you, and yet are you going there again?

9 Ответил Иисус: не двенадцать ли часов в дне? Кто ходит днем, не спотыкается, потому что видит свет мира сего.

9 Jesus said to them, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If a man walks by day time, he will not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.

10 А кто ходит ночью, спотыкается, потому что нет света в нем.

10 But if a man travels at night time, he will stumble, because there is no light in it.

11 Сказал Он это, и говорит им потом: Лазарь, друг наш, уснул; но Я иду разбудить его.

11 Jesus said these things; and after that he said to them, Our friend Lazarus is asleep; but I am going to awake him.

12 Сказали Ему ученики: Господи, если уснул, будет спасен.

12 His disciples said to him, Our Lord, if he is sleeping, he will get well.

13 Но сказал Иисус о смерти его, а они подумали, что говорит Он о простом сне.

13 But Jesus spoke of his death; and they thought that what he said was sleeping in bed.

14 Тогда и сказал им Иисус прямо: Лазарь умер.

14 Then Jesus said to them, plainly, Lazarus is dead.

15 И Я радуюсь за вас, что Я не был там, дабы вы уверовали. Но идем к нему.

15 And I am glad I was not there, for your sakes, so that you may believe; but let us walk there.

16 Тогда Фома, называемый Близнец, сказал другим ученикам: идем и мы, чтобы умереть с Ним.

16 Then Thomas, who is called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, Let us also go, and die with him.

17 Придя, Иисус нашел, что он уже четыре дня в гробнице.

17 So Jesus came to Bethany, and he found that he had been four days in the tomb.

18 Была же Вифания близ Иерусалима, стадиях в пятнадцати.

18 Now Bethany was towards Jerusalem, a distance of about two miles.

19 И многие из Иудеев пришли к Марфе и Марии утешить их в горе о брате.

19 And many Jews kept coming to Martha and Mary, to comfort their hearts concerning their brother.

20 Марфа, когда услышала, что Иисус идет, вышла к Нему навстречу; Мария же сидела у себя в доме.

20 When Martha heard that Jesus had come, she went out to meet him; but Mary sat in the house.

21 Сказала тогда Марфа Иисусу: Господи, если бы Ты был здесь, не умер бы брат мой.

21 Then Martha said to Jesus, My Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

22 Я и теперь знаю, что о чем бы Ты ни попросил Бога, даст Тебе Бог.

22 But even now I know that whatever you ask of God, he will give you.

23 Говорит ей Иисус: воскреснет брат твой.

23 Jesus said to her, Your brother will rise up.

24 Говорит Ему Марфа: знаю, что воскреснет в воскресение, в последний день.

24 Martha said to him, I know he will rise up in the resurrection at the last day.

25 Сказал ей Иисус: Я — воскресение и жизнь; верующий в Меня, если и умрет, оживет;

25 Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, even though he die, he shall live.

26 и всякий живущий и верующий в Меня не умрет вовек. Веришь ли ты в это?

26 And whoever is alive and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?

27 Говорит она Ему: да, Господи, я уверовала и верую, что Ты — Христос, Сын Божий, грядущий в мир.

27 She said to him, Yes, my Lord; I do believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come to the world.

28 И сказав это, она пошла и позвала Марию, сестру свою, сказав тайно: Учитель здесь и зовет тебя.

28 And when she had said these things, she went away and called her sister Mary secretly, and said to her, Our teacher has come, and he is calling you.

29 Она же, когда услышала, встала поспешно и пошла к Нему.

29 When Mary heard it, she rose up quickly and came to him.

30 Еще не вошел Иисус в селение, но всё еще был на том месте, где встретила Его Марфа.

30 Jesus had not yet come into the town, but he was still at the same place where Martha met him.

31 Тогда Иудеи, бывшие с ней в доме и утешавшие ее, увидев, как Мария поспешно встала и вышла, последовали за ней, думая, что она идет к гробнице, чтобы плакать там.

31 The Jews also who were with her in the house, comforting her, when they saw Mary rise up quickly and go out, followed her, for they thought she was going to the tomb to weep.

32 А Мария, когда пришла туда, где был Иисус, увидев Его, пала к Его ногам и сказала Ему: Господи, если бы Ты был здесь, не умер бы мой брат.

32 When Mary came where Jesus was, and saw him, she threw herself at his feet, and said to him, My Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

33 Иисус, когда увидел ее плачущую и пришедших с ней Иудеев плачущих, возмутился духом и пришел в волнение,

33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews weeping, who had come with her, he was moved in his spirit, and was greatly disturbed.

34 и сказал: где вы положили его? Говорят Ему: Господи, иди и посмотри.

34 And he said, Where have you laid him? They said to him, Our Lord, come and see.

35 Прослезился Иисус.

35 And Jesus was in tears.

36 Говорили тогда Иудеи: вот, как Он любил его.

36 The Jews then said, Look, how much he loved him!

37 А некоторые из них сказали: не мог ли Он, открывший глаза слепому, сделать, чтобы и этот не умер?

37 Some of them said, Could not this man, who opened the eyes of that blind man, have also kept this man from dying?

38 Иисус, снова возмущаясь в Себе, приходит к гробнице: это была пещера, и камень закрывал ее.

38 As Jesus was disturbed in himself because of them, he came to the tomb. That tomb was a cave, and a stone was placed at the entrance.

39 Говорит Иисус: возьмите камень. Говорит ему сестра умершего, Марфа: Господи, уже смердит: ведь ему четвертый день.

39 Jesus said, Take away this stone. Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, My Lord, he is already disfigured, for he is dead four days.

40 Говорит ей Иисус: не сказал ли Я тебе, что, если уверуешь, увидишь славу Божию?

40 Jesus said to her, Did not I say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?

41 Тогда взяли камень. Иисус же поднял глаза ввысь и сказал: Отче, благодарю Тебя, что Ты услышал Меня.

41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted his eyes upwards, and said, O Father, I thank you for you have heard me,

42 Я знал, что Ты всегда Меня слышишь, но сказал ради народа, стоящего кругом, чтобы они уверовали, что Ты Меня послал.

42 And I know that you always hear me; but I say these things just because of this people who stand around, so that they may believe that you have sent me.

43 И сказав это, воззвал громким голосом: Лазарь, выходи.

43 And when he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come outside.

44 И вышел умерший, связанный по рукам и ногам погребальными перевязями, и лицо его было обернуто платком. Говорит им Иисус: развяжите его и пустите его идти.

44 And the dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with burial clothes; and his face bound with a burial napkin. Jesus said to them, Loose him and let him go.

45 Тогда многие из Иудеев, пришедшие к Марии и увидевшие, что Он сотворил, уверовали в Него.

45 Many of the Jews who had come to Mary, when they saw what Jesus had done, believed in him.

46 А некоторые из них пошли к фарисеям и сказали им, что сотворил Иисус.

46 And some of them went to the Pharisees, and told them everything Jesus had done.

47 Собрали тогда первосвященники и фарисеи совещание и говорили: что нам делать, потому что Этот Человек много творит знамений?

47 So the high priests and the Pharisees gathered together and said, What shall we do? for this man does many miracles?

48 Если оставим Его так, все уверуют в Него, и придут Римляне и уничтожат у нас и храм и народ.

48 If we allow him to continue like this, all men will believe in him; and the Romans will come and take over both our country and our people.

49 Один же из них, Каиафа, будучи на тот год первосвященником, сказал им: вы не знаете ничего,

49 But one of them, called Caiaphas, who was the high priest for that year, said to them, You know nothing;

50 и не разумеете, что лучше для вас, чтобы один человек умер за народ, а не весь народ погиб.

50 Nor do you reason that it is much better for us that one man should die instead of the people, and not all the people perish.

51 Это он сказал не от себя, но будучи на тот год первосвященником, пророчествовал, что предстояло Иисусу умереть за народ, —

51 He did not say this of himself; but because he was the high priest for that year, he prophesied that Jesus had to die for the sake of the people;

52 и не за народ только, но для того, чтобы и рассеянных детей Божиих собрать воедино.

52 And not only for the sake of the people, but also to gather together the children of God who are scattered abroad.

53 С этого дня они приняли решение убить Его.

53 And from that very day, they decided to kill him.

54 Поэтому Иисус больше не ходил открыто между Иудеями, но пошел оттуда в страну близ пустыни, в город, называемый Ефраим, и там остался с учениками.

54 Jesus therefore did not walk openly among the Jews, but went away thence to a place which is close to the wilderness, in the province of Ephraim; and he remained there with his disciples.

55 А была близко Пасха Иудейская, и пришли многие в Иерусалим из страны той перед Пасхой, чтобы очиститься.

56 Искали тогда Иисуса и говорили между собой, стоя в храме: как вам кажется? Он, конечно, не придет на Праздник?
