Глава 4

1 Я, Невухаднецар, благоденствовал в доме моем, и процветал в чертогах моих.

2 Однажды я видел сон, и такой притом, что он устрашил меня; и ужасающие воображения были у меня на ложе моем, и видения главы моей встревожили меня.

3 И дано было от меня повеление привести ко мне всех мудрецов вавилонских, чтобы они сказали мне значение сна.

4 Тогда вошли тайноведцы, маги, халдеи, и гадатели судеб; я рассказал им сон, но они не могли раскрыть мне смысла его.

5 Напоследок предстал пред меня Даниил, которому имя, по имени бога моего, Велтешацар, и в котором есть дух святых богов; я рассказал ему сновидение:

6 Велтешацар, глава тайноведцев! я знаю, что в тебе дух святых богов, и никакая тайна не трудна для тебя; изъясни мне видения сна моего, который я видел, и смысл его.

7 Видения же главы моей на ложе моем были сии: `я видел, и вот дерево, среди земли, и притом росту высокого;

8 Дерево сие было велико и крепко, и вершиною своею касалось неба, и видимо было до краев всей земли;

9 Лист его прекрасный, и плодов на нем множество, и пища для всех на нем; звери полевые имели тень под ним, и в ветвях его жили птицы небесные, и питалась от него всякая плоть.

10 Видел я в видениях главы моей на ложе моем, и се, снишел Недремлющий с небес и Святый,

11 Воскликнул громко, и сказал так: `срубите это дерево, и обрубите ветви его; отрясите лист его, и раскидайте плоды его; пусть разбегутся звери из-под него, и птицы из ветвей его.

12 Но пень на корнях его оставьте в земле; и пусть он в железных и медных оковах, на траве полевой, мокнет от небесной росы, и с зверями имеет участок в траве земной.

13 Сердце его переменить, чтобы не было человеческим, и дать ему сердце зверское, пока пройдут над ним семь времен.

14 В судьбе недремлющих приговор, и в изречении святых требование, на тот конец, чтобы познали живущие, что царством человеческим управляет Всевышний, и дает его кому хочет, и поставляет над ним ничтожнейшего из человеков`.

15 Такой сон видел я, царь Невухаднецар; а ты, Велтешацар, скажи значение его, потому что все мудрецы в царстве моем не могли сказать мне значения, а ты можешь, оттого что в тебе дух святых богов.

16 Тогда Даниил, коему имя Велтешацар, стоял в изумлении с час, и мысли его волновали его. Тогда царь стал говорить, и сказал: Велтешацар! сон и значение его да не возмущают тебя. Велтешацар отвечал и сказал: `врагам бы твоим, государь, этот сон, и неприятелям бы твоим означаемое им!

17 Дерево, тобою виденное, рослое и крепкое, и которое вершиною своею касалось неба, и видимо было по всей земле,

18 На коем лист прекрасный, и плодов множество, и пища для всех, под коим звери полевые живут, и в ветвях коего покоятся птицы небесные,

19 Это ты, царь, который столь велик и могуществен; и величие твое возвысилось и касается неба, и власть твоя до конца земли.

20 А что царь видел недремлющего и святого, сшедшего с небес и сказавшего: `срубите это дерево и изрубите его, только пень на корнях его оставьте в земле; и в оковах железных и медных, на траве полевой, пусть он мокнет от небесной росы, и с зверьми полевыми имеет участок, пока пройдут над ним семь времен`;

21 Вот, царь, значение сему: это судьба Всевышнего, которая исполнится над государем моим, царем.

22 И изгонят тебя из общества человеческого, и будешь жить с полевыми зверьми, и травою будут кормить тебя, как волов, и заставят тебя мокнуть от росы небесной; и семь времен пройдут над тобою, доколе познаешь, что владыка человеческого царства есть Всевышний, и дает его, кому хочет.

23 Поелику же сказано: `оставить пень на корнях дерева`; то царство твое за тобою пребудет после того, как познаешь, что небо владычествует.

24 Итак, царь, да будет тебе благоугоден совет мой: прерви грехи твои праведностью, и преступления твои милосердием к страждущим: не продлится ли благоденствие твое?`

25 Все сие сбылось над царем Невухаднецаром.

26 По прошествии двенадцати месяцев, расхаживая по царскому дворцу в Вавилоне,

27 Начал царь и сказал: не это ли Вавилон оный великий, который силою могущества моего и в славу величия моего я устроил, чтоб он был столицею царства?

28 Речь сия еще была в устах царя, как вдруг голос снисшел с небес: тебе, царь Невухаднецар говорят: царство отошло от тебя.

29 И изгонят тебя из общества человеческого, и жить будешь с зверьми полевыми; травою будут кормить тебя, как волов, и семь времен пройдут над тобою, доколе познаешь, что владыка царства человеческого есть Всевышний, и дает его, кому хочет.

30 Тотчас слово сие совершилось над Невухаднецаром. И был он изгнан из общества человеческого, и ел траву, как волы, и мокло от росы небесной тело его, так что он оброс волосами, как орлы, и ногти у него были, как птичьи.

31 По прошествии же оных дней поднял я, Невухаднецар, глаза мои к небу, и рассудок мой возвратился ко мне; и возблагодарил я Всевышнего, и восхвалил, и прославил вечно Живущего, Коего владычество есть владычество вечное, и царство Его в род и род.

32 И все живущие на земле являются как ничто пред Ним; и по воле Своей Он действует и в небесном воинстве, и у живущих на земле; и некому удержать руку Его, и сказать Ему: что Ты делаешь?

33 В то самое время рассудок мой возвратился ко мне, и, к славе царства моего, возвратилась ко мне красота и прежний вид мой; и взыскали меня советники мои и вельможи мои; и я восстановлен на царство мое, и величие мое возвысилось еще более.

34 Ныне я, Невухаднецар, славлю, и превозношу и величаю Царя небесного, Коего все дела истина, и пути правосудие, и Который может смирить ходящих в гордости.

1 Nebuchadnezzar5020 the king,4430 to all3606 people,5972 nations,524 and languages,3961 that dwell1753 in all3606 the earth;772 Peace8001 be multiplied7680 to you.

2 I thought8232 6925 it good8232 to show2324 the signs852 and wonders8540 that the high5943 God426 has worked5648 toward5974 me.

3 How4101 great7260 are his signs!852 and how4101 mighty8624 are his wonders!8540 his kingdom4437 is an everlasting5957 kingdom,4437 and his dominion7985 is from generation1859 to generation.1859

4 I Nebuchadnezzar5020 was at rest7954 in my house,1005 and flourishing7487 in my palace:1965

5 I saw2370 a dream2493 which made me afraid,1763 and the thoughts2031 on my bed4903 and the visions2376 of my head7217 troubled927 me.

6 Therefore made7761 I a decree2942 to bring5924 in all3606 the wise2445 men of Babylon895 before6925 me, that they might make known3046 to me the interpretation6591 of the dream.2493

7 Then116 came5954 in the magicians,2749 the astrologers,826 the Chaldeans,3779 and the soothsayers:1505 and I told560 the dream2493 before6925 them; but they did not make known3046 to me the interpretation6591 thereof.

8 But at5705 the last318 Daniel1841 came5954 in before5922 6925 me, whose1768 name8036 was Belteshazzar,1096 according to the name8036 of my God,426 and in whom1768 is the spirit7308 of the holy6922 gods:426 and before6925 him I told560 the dream,2493 saying,

9 O Belteshazzar,1096 master7229 of the magicians,2749 because1768 I know3046 that the spirit7308 of the holy6922 gods426 is in you, and no3606 3809 secret7328 troubles598 you, tell560 me the visions2376 of my dream2493 that I have seen,2370 and the interpretation6591 thereof.

10 Thus were the visions2376 of my head7217 in my bed;4903 I saw,2370 and behold 431a tree363 in the middle1459 of the earth,772 and the height7314 thereof was great.7690

11 The tree363 grew,7236 and was strong,8631 and the height7314 thereof reached4291 to heaven,8065 and the sight2379 thereof to the end5491 of all3606 the earth:772

12 The leaves6074 thereof were fair,8209 and the fruit4 thereof much,7690 and in it was meat4203 for all:3606 the beasts2423 of the field1251 had shadow2927 under8460 it, and the fowls6853 of the heaven8065 dwelled1753 in the boughs6056 thereof, and all3606 flesh1321 was fed2110 of it.

13 I saw2370 in the visions2376 of my head7217 on my bed,4903 and, behold,431 a watcher5894 and an holy6922 one came5182 down5182 from heaven;8065

14 He cried7123 aloud,2429 and said560 thus,3652 Hew1414 down the tree,363 and cut7113 off his branches,6056 shake5426 off his leaves,6074 and scatter921 his fruit:4 let the beasts2423 get5111 away5111 from under8478 it, and the fowls6853 from his branches:6056

15 Nevertheless1297 leave7662 the stump6136 of his roots8330 in the earth,772 even with a band613 of iron6523 and brass,5174 in the tender grass1883 of the field;1251 and let it be wet6647 with the dew2920 of heaven,8065 and let his portion2508 be with the beasts2423 in the grass6211 of the earth:772

16 Let his heart3825 be changed8133 from man's,606 and let a beast's2423 heart3825 be given3052 to him; and let seven7655 times5732 pass2499 over5922 him.

17 This matter6600 is by the decree1510 of the watchers,5894 and the demand7595 by the word3983 of the holy6922 ones: to the intent1701 that the living2417 may know3046 that the most5943 High5943 rules7980 in the kingdom4437 of men,606 and gives5415 it to whomsoever4479 he will,6634 and sets6966 up over5922 it the basest8215 of men.606

18 This1836 dream2493 I king4430 Nebuchadnezzar5020 have seen.2370 Now you, O Belteshazzar,1096 declare560 the interpretation6591 thereof, for as much3606 as all3606 the wise2445 men of my kingdom4437 are not able3202 to make known3046 to me the interpretation:6591 but you are able;3546 for the spirit7308 of the holy6922 gods426 is in you.

19 Then116 Daniel,1841 whose1768 name8036 was Belteshazzar,1096 was astonished8075 for one2298 hour,8160 and his thoughts7476 troubled927 him. The king4430 spoke,6032 and said,560 Belteshazzar,1096 let not the dream,2493 or the interpretation6591 thereof, trouble927 you. Belteshazzar1096 answered6032 and said,560 My lord,4756 the dream2493 be to them that hate8131 you, and the interpretation6591 thereof to your enemies.6146

20 The tree363 that you saw,2370 which1768 grew,7236 and was strong,8631 whose height7314 reached4291 to the heaven,8065 and the sight2379 thereof to all3606 the earth;772

21 Whose leaves6074 were fair,8209 and the fruit4 thereof much,7690 and in it was meat4203 for all;3606 under8460 which the beasts2423 of the field1251 dwelled,1753 and on whose branches6056 the fowls6853 of the heaven8065 had their habitation:7932

22 It is you, O king,4430 that are grown7236 and become8631 strong:8631 for your greatness7238 is grown,7236 and reaches4291 to heaven,8065 and your dominion7985 to the end5491 of the earth.772

23 And whereas1768 the king4430 saw2370 a watcher5894 and an holy6922 one coming5182 down5182 from heaven,8065 and saying,560 Hew1414 the tree363 down, and destroy2255 it; yet1297 leave7662 the stump6136 of the roots8330 thereof in the earth,772 even with a band613 of iron6523 and brass,5174 in the tender grass1883 of the field;1251 and let it be wet6647 with the dew2920 of heaven,8065 and let his portion2508 be with the beasts2423 of the field,1251 till5704 seven7655 times5732 pass2499 over5922 him;

24 This1836 is the interpretation,6591 O king,4430 and this1931 is the decree1510 of the most5943 High,5943 which1768 is come4291 on my lord4756 the king:4430

25 That they shall drive2957 you from men,606 and your dwelling4070 shall be with the beasts2423 of the field,1251 and they shall make you to eat2939 grass6211 as oxen,8450 and they shall wet6647 you with the dew2920 of heaven,8065 and seven7655 times5732 shall pass2499 over5922 you, till5704 you know3046 that the most5943 High5943 rules7980 in the kingdom4437 of men,606 and gives5415 it to whomsoever4479 he will.6634

26 And whereas1768 they commanded560 to leave7662 the stump6136 of the tree363 roots;8330 your kingdom4437 shall be sure7011 to you, after1767 that you shall have known3046 that the heavens8065 do rule.7990

27 Why,3861 O king,4430 let my counsel4431 be acceptable8232 to you, and break6562 off your sins2408 by righteousness,6665 and your iniquities5758 by showing mercy2604 to the poor;6033 if2006 it may be a lengthening754 of your tranquility.7963

28 All3606 this came4291 on the king4430 Nebuchadnezzar.5020

29 At the end7118 of twelve8648 6236 months3393 he walked1981 in the palace1965 of the kingdom4437 of Babylon.895

30 The king4430 spoke,6032 and said,560 Is not this1668 great7227 Babylon,895 that I have built1124 for the house1005 of the kingdom4437 by the might8632 of my power,2632 and for the honor3367 of my majesty?1923

31 While5751 the word4406 was in the king's4430 mouth,6433 there fell5308 a voice7032 from heaven,8065 saying, O king4430 Nebuchadnezzar,5020 to you it is spoken;560 The kingdom4437 is departed5709 from you.

32 And they shall drive2957 you from men,606 and your dwelling4070 shall be with the beasts2423 of the field:1251 they shall make you to eat2939 grass6211 as oxen,8450 and seven7655 times5732 shall pass2499 over5922 you, until5704 you know3046 that the most5943 High5943 rules7980 in the kingdom4437 of men,606 and gives5415 it to whomsoever4479 he will.6634

33 The same hour8160 was the thing4406 fulfilled5487 on Nebuchadnezzar:5020 and he was driven2957 from men,606 and did eat399 grass6211 as oxen,8450 and his body1655 was wet6647 with the dew2920 of heaven,8065 till5704 his hairs8177 were grown7236 like eagles'5403 feathers, and his nails2953 like birds'6853 claws.

34 And at the end7118 of the days3118 I Nebuchadnezzar5020 lifted5191 up my eyes5870 to heaven,8065 and my understanding4486 returned7725 to me, and I blessed1289 the most5943 High,5943 and I praised7624 and honored1922 him that lives2416 for ever,5957 whose1768 dominion7985 is an everlasting5957 dominion,7985 and his kingdom4437 is from generation1859 to generation:1859

10 Видел я в видениях главы моей на ложе моем, и се, снишел Недремлющий с небес и Святый,

16 Тогда Даниил, коему имя Велтешацар, стоял в изумлении с час, и мысли его волновали его. Тогда царь стал говорить, и сказал: Велтешацар! сон и значение его да не возмущают тебя. Велтешацар отвечал и сказал: `врагам бы твоим, государь, этот сон, и неприятелям бы твоим означаемое им!

16 Let his heart3825 be changed8133 from man's,606 and let a beast's2423 heart3825 be given3052 to him; and let seven7655 times5732 pass2499 over5922 him.

24 Итак, царь, да будет тебе благоугоден совет мой: прерви грехи твои праведностью, и преступления твои милосердием к страждущим: не продлится ли благоденствие твое?`

26 По прошествии двенадцати месяцев, расхаживая по царскому дворцу в Вавилоне,

27 Начал царь и сказал: не это ли Вавилон оный великий, который силою могущества моего и в славу величия моего я устроил, чтоб он был столицею царства?

28 Речь сия еще была в устах царя, как вдруг голос снисшел с небес: тебе, царь Невухаднецар говорят: царство отошло от тебя.

29 И изгонят тебя из общества человеческого, и жить будешь с зверьми полевыми; травою будут кормить тебя, как волов, и семь времен пройдут над тобою, доколе познаешь, что владыка царства человеческого есть Всевышний, и дает его, кому хочет.

30 Тотчас слово сие совершилось над Невухаднецаром. И был он изгнан из общества человеческого, и ел траву, как волы, и мокло от росы небесной тело его, так что он оброс волосами, как орлы, и ногти у него были, как птичьи.

31 По прошествии же оных дней поднял я, Невухаднецар, глаза мои к небу, и рассудок мой возвратился ко мне; и возблагодарил я Всевышнего, и восхвалил, и прославил вечно Живущего, Коего владычество есть владычество вечное, и царство Его в род и род.

31 While5751 the word4406 was in the king's4430 mouth,6433 there fell5308 a voice7032 from heaven,8065 saying, O king4430 Nebuchadnezzar,5020 to you it is spoken;560 The kingdom4437 is departed5709 from you.

32 И все живущие на земле являются как ничто пред Ним; и по воле Своей Он действует и в небесном воинстве, и у живущих на земле; и некому удержать руку Его, и сказать Ему: что Ты делаешь?

33 В то самое время рассудок мой возвратился ко мне, и, к славе царства моего, возвратилась ко мне красота и прежний вид мой; и взыскали меня советники мои и вельможи мои; и я восстановлен на царство мое, и величие мое возвысилось еще более.

34 Ныне я, Невухаднецар, славлю, и превозношу и величаю Царя небесного, Коего все дела истина, и пути правосудие, и Который может смирить ходящих в гордости.

34 And at the end7118 of the days3118 I Nebuchadnezzar5020 lifted5191 up my eyes5870 to heaven,8065 and my understanding4486 returned7725 to me, and I blessed1289 the most5943 High,5943 and I praised7624 and honored1922 him that lives2416 for ever,5957 whose1768 dominion7985 is an everlasting5957 dominion,7985 and his kingdom4437 is from generation1859 to generation:1859
