Глава 25

1 Ибрахим взял себе другую жену, которую звали Хеттура.

2 Она родила ему Зимрана, Иокшана, Медана, Мадиана, Ишбака и Шуаха.

3 Иокшан был отцом Шевы и Дедана; потомками Дедана были ашшуриты, летушиты и леюмиты.

4 Сыновьями Мадиана были Ефа, Ефер, Ханох, Авида и Элдага. Все они были потомками Хеттуры.

5 Ибрахим оставил всё, что у него было, Исхаку.

6 Сыновей наложниц он щедро одарил и ещё при жизни своей отослал их от своего сына Исхака на восток, в восточную землю.

7 Всего Ибрахим прожил сто семьдесят пять лет.

8 Он испустил последний вздох и умер в глубокой старости, насытившись жизнью, и отошёл к своим предкам.

9 Его сыновья Исхак и Исмаил похоронили его в пещере Махпела рядом с Мамре, на поле хетта Эфрона, сына Цохара,

10 которое Ибрахим купил у хеттов. . Там Ибрахим был погребён рядом со своей женой Саррой.

11 После смерти Ибрахима Всевышний благословил его сына Исхака, который тогда жил возле Беэр-Лахай-Рои.

12 Вот родословие Исмаила, сына Ибрахима, которого служанка Сарры, египтянка Ажар, родила Ибрахиму;

13 и вот имена сыновей Исмаила, перечисленные в порядке их рождения: Навайот – первенец Исмаила, Кедар, Адбеил, Мивсам,

14 Мишма, Дума, Масса,

15 Хадад, Тема, Иетур, Нафиш и Кедма.

16 Это имена сыновей Исмаила, имена двенадцати вождей родов по их поселениям и кочевьям.

17 Всего Исмаил жил сто тридцать семь лет. Он испустил последний вздох и умер, и отошёл к своим предкам.

18 Его потомки поселились в области от Хавилы до Сура, возле границы Египта, на пути к Ассирии. Они жили во вражде со всеми своими братьями.

19 Вот рассказ об Исхаке, сыне Ибрахима. У Ибрахима родился Исхак.

20 Исхаку было сорок лет, когда он женился на Рабиге, дочери арамея Бетуила из Паддан-Арама, . сестре арамея Лавана.

21 Исхак молил Вечного за жену, потому что она была бесплодна. Вечный ответил на его молитву, и его жена Рабига забеременела.

22 Дети стали толкать друг друга в её утробе, и она сказала: – За что мне это?И она пошла спросить Вечного.

23 И сказал ей Вечный:
– Два племени в чреве твоём, два народа произойдут из тебя и разделятся;один будет сильнее другого, и старший будет служить младшему.

24 Когда пришло ей время родить, во чреве её действительно оказались мальчики-близнецы.

25 Первый родился красный, и всё его тело было покрыто как бы ворсистой одеждой; поэтому его назвали Есав («волосатый»).

26 Потом появился его брат, держась рукой за пятку Есава; поэтому он был назван Якуб («он держится за пятку»). . Исхаку было шестьдесят лет, когда Рабига родила их.

27 Мальчики выросли: Есав был искусный охотник, человек полей, а Якуб был человек тихий, живущий среди шатров.

28 Исхак, которому была по вкусу дичь, больше любил Есава, но Рабига больше любила Якуба.

29 Однажды, когда Якуб готовил похлёбку, Есав вернулся с поля очень голодный.

30 Он сказал Якубу: – Скорее, дай мне поесть немного того красного, что ты готовишь! Я умираю от голода! (Вот почему ему также дали имя Эдом («красный»).)

34 Тогда Якуб дал Есаву лепёшек и чечевичной похлёбки. Он поел, попил, встал и ушёл. Так Есав пренебрёг своим первородством.

Chapter 25

1 THEN again Abraham took another wife, and her name was Kenturah.

2 And she bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah.

3 And Jokshan begot Sheba and Daran. And the sons of Daran were Asshurim, Letushim, and Ammim.

4 And the sons of Midian were Ephah, Haphar, Hanoch, Abidah, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Kenturah.

5 And Abraham gave everything that he had to Isaac.

6 But to the sons of his concubine, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac, his son, eastward to the east country, while he was still alive.

7 And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, a hundred and seventy-five years.

8 Then Abraham became sick, and died in a good old age, an old man satisfied with his days; and was gathered to his people.

9 And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the double cave, (Machpelah) which is in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;

10 The field which Abraham purchased from the sons of Heth, as a possession for a burial ground. There was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.

11 And it came to pass after the death of Abraham that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well of Khaya-khezan (The Well of The Living One who saw me).

12 Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's maid, bore to Abraham;

13 And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the first-born of Ishmael, Nebioth, and Kedar, Arbal, and Mibsam,

14 Mishma, Romah, Massa,

15 Hadar, Tema, Nator, Naphish, and Kedem.

16 These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names by their villages and by their sheepfolds, twelve princes according to their nations.

17 And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, a hundred and thirty-seven years; and he became sick and died; and was gathered to his people.

18 And they dwelt from Havilah as far as Shud, which extends from the border of Egypt to the gateway of Assyria; he dwelt adjacent to the lands of all his brethren.

19 These are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begot Isaac;

20 And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean of Padan-aram, the sister of Laban, the Aramean (Syrian).

21 And Isaac prayed before the LORD for his wife, because she was barren; and the LORD answered him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

22 And the children struggled together within her womb; and she said, If it is to be like this, why do I live? So she went to enquire of the LORD.

23 And the LORD said to her, Two peoples are in your womb, and two nations shall be separated from your body; and the one nation shall be stronger than the other nation; and the elder shall serve the younger.

24 And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

25 And the first came out red, all covered with ringlets of hair; and they called his name Esau.

26 And after him his brother came forth, and his hand held Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob; and Isaac was sixty years old when Rebekah bore them.

27 And the boys grew up; and Esau became an expert hunter, a man of outdoor life; but Jacob was a simple man, living in a tent.

28 And Isaac was fond of Esau, because he ate of Esau's game; but Rebekah was fond of Jacob.

29 And Jacob cooked pottage, and behold, his brother Esau came in from the field, and he was very hungry;

30 And Esau said to Jacob, Give me some of that pottage, for I am famished; that is why he was called Edom.

31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day your birthright.

32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point of death; and what profit shall a birthright be to me?

33 And Jacob said to him, Swear to me this day; and he swore to him; and he sold his birthright to Jacob.

34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage; and he ate, and drank, and rose up and went his way; thus Esau despised his birthright.

1 THEN again Abraham took another wife, and her name was Kenturah.

10 The field which Abraham purchased from the sons of Heth, as a possession for a burial ground. There was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.

11 And it came to pass after the death of Abraham that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well of Khaya-khezan (The Well of The Living One who saw me).

16 These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names by their villages and by their sheepfolds, twelve princes according to their nations.

17 Всего Исмаил жил сто тридцать семь лет. Он испустил последний вздох и умер, и отошёл к своим предкам.

17 And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, a hundred and thirty-seven years; and he became sick and died; and was gathered to his people.

18 Его потомки поселились в области от Хавилы до Сура, возле границы Египта, на пути к Ассирии. Они жили во вражде со всеми своими братьями.

18 And they dwelt from Havilah as far as Shud, which extends from the border of Egypt to the gateway of Assyria; he dwelt adjacent to the lands of all his brethren.

19 Вот рассказ об Исхаке, сыне Ибрахима. У Ибрахима родился Исхак.

19 These are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begot Isaac;

20 Исхаку было сорок лет, когда он женился на Рабиге, дочери арамея Бетуила из Паддан-Арама, . сестре арамея Лавана.

20 And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean of Padan-aram, the sister of Laban, the Aramean (Syrian).

21 Исхак молил Вечного за жену, потому что она была бесплодна. Вечный ответил на его молитву, и его жена Рабига забеременела.

21 And Isaac prayed before the LORD for his wife, because she was barren; and the LORD answered him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

22 Дети стали толкать друг друга в её утробе, и она сказала: – За что мне это?И она пошла спросить Вечного.

22 And the children struggled together within her womb; and she said, If it is to be like this, why do I live? So she went to enquire of the LORD.

23 И сказал ей Вечный:

23 And the LORD said to her, Two peoples are in your womb, and two nations shall be separated from your body; and the one nation shall be stronger than the other nation; and the elder shall serve the younger.

24 And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

25 Первый родился красный, и всё его тело было покрыто как бы ворсистой одеждой; поэтому его назвали Есав («волосатый»).

25 And the first came out red, all covered with ringlets of hair; and they called his name Esau.

26 Потом появился его брат, держась рукой за пятку Есава; поэтому он был назван Якуб («он держится за пятку»). . Исхаку было шестьдесят лет, когда Рабига родила их.

26 And after him his brother came forth, and his hand held Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob; and Isaac was sixty years old when Rebekah bore them.

27 And the boys grew up; and Esau became an expert hunter, a man of outdoor life; but Jacob was a simple man, living in a tent.

28 And Isaac was fond of Esau, because he ate of Esau's game; but Rebekah was fond of Jacob.

29 And Jacob cooked pottage, and behold, his brother Esau came in from the field, and he was very hungry;
