Глава 8

1 Было мне от Владыки ГОСПОДА такое видение: предо мной стояла корзина с созревшими плодами.

2 ГОСПОДЬ спросил: «Что видишь, Амос?» Я ответил: «Корзину с летними плодами спелыми». Тогда ГОСПОДЬ сказал мне: «Народу Моему, Израилю, приспело время понести наказание; и более прощать и щадить их не буду».

3 «Песни храмовые сменятся у них в тот день воплями, — это слово Владыки ГОСПОДА, — везде и всюду будет множество трупов, брошенных неоплаканными».

4 Слушайте же вы, нищих попирающие, на гибель обрекающие бедняков земли сей.

5 Вы говорите: «Скорее бы миновал праздник новолуния, чтобы нам начать зерно продавать; скорее бы суббота прошла, чтоб могли мы вывезти на продажу пшеницу! Меру для зерна сделаем тогда поменьше, беря за него серебра весом побольше, и весы такие сделаем, чтобы обвешивать было удобно…

6 Бедняков за серебро жалкое покупать станем, а нищих — всего за пару сандалий; высевки за пшеницу продавать будем».

7 Клянется ГОСПОДЬ тем, что было гордостью Иакова: «Вовек не забуду ничего из того, что они сделали!

8 И не станет разве сотрясать землю тогда, не повергнет ли это в скорбь тех, кто живет на ней? И сама она не станет ли колыхаться, как воды Нила, великой реки египетской, что подымаются в дни разлива и потом спадают?»

9 «В тот день, — говорит Владыка ГОСПОДЬ, — по воле Моей солнце в полдень зайдет, мрак среди бела дня ниспошлю на землю.

10 Обращу ваши торжества в скорбь, ваши песни радости — в плачи; сделаю так, что все вы в рубище облачитесь и головы свои наголо обреете, словно оплакивая дитя единственное, — горек будет тот последний день!»

11 «Близок день, — говорит Владыка ГОСПОДЬ, — день, когда пошлю Я на землю голод и жажду — не хлеба иль воды недостаток станет людей томить, нет, это будет жажда услышать слово ГОСПОДНЕ.

12 Станут скитаться они от моря до моря, побредут с севера и с востока в путь отправятся, будут кружить в отчаянных поисках слова ГОСПОДНЯ — и не найдут его.

13 В день тот цветущие девы и юноши будут от жажды истаивать;

14 и все, кто клянутся богиней Самарии Ашимой, или говорят: „Свидетель мне — бог твой, Дан!“, или „Клянусь священным путем в Беэр-Шеву!“ — падут все как один и никогда уж не встанут».

Chapter 8

1 THUS has the LORD God showed me: and behold, a sign of the end.

2 And the LORD said to me, Amos, what do you see? And I said, A sign of the end. Then the LORD said to me, The end is come upon my people Israel; I will not again cause it to pass by them any more.

3 And the songs of the temple shall be howling in that day, says the LORD God; there shall be many dead bodies in every place; and they shall be cast away to destruction.

4 Hear this, O you who wrong the poor, and cause the needy of the land to come to an end,

5 Saying, When will the month be over, that we may sell grain? When will the sabbath be over that we may open storehouses and make our measures small and enlarge weights and make deceitful balances?

6 That we may sell to the poor for silver, and pay the needy with the refuse of the wheat, and sell the refuse which is left on the floor of the storehouses.

7 The LORD, the Mighty One of Jacob, has sworn, Surely, I will never forget any of their works.

8 Shall not the land tremble for these things, and every one mourn who dwells in it? The end shall come up like a flooded river; and it shall cast things away, and then recede like the river of Egypt.

9 And it shall come to pass in that day, says the LORD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the daylight.

10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentation; and I will put sackcloth upon all your loins and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning for an only son, and the end of it as a bitter day.

11 Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will send a famine in the land; not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the word of the LORD;

12 And they shall gather together from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east; they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

13 In that day the beautiful virgins and the young men shall faint for thirst.

14 They that swore by the idols of Samaria, saying, As your god lives, O Dan, and, as the cult of Beer-sheba lives, even they shall fall and never rise again.

1 Было мне от Владыки ГОСПОДА такое видение: предо мной стояла корзина с созревшими плодами.

2 ГОСПОДЬ спросил: «Что видишь, Амос?» Я ответил: «Корзину с летними плодами спелыми». Тогда ГОСПОДЬ сказал мне: «Народу Моему, Израилю, приспело время понести наказание; и более прощать и щадить их не буду».

3 «Песни храмовые сменятся у них в тот день воплями, — это слово Владыки ГОСПОДА, — везде и всюду будет множество трупов, брошенных неоплаканными».

4 Слушайте же вы, нищих попирающие, на гибель обрекающие бедняков земли сей.

4 Hear this, O you who wrong the poor, and cause the needy of the land to come to an end,

6 That we may sell to the poor for silver, and pay the needy with the refuse of the wheat, and sell the refuse which is left on the floor of the storehouses.

7 Клянется ГОСПОДЬ тем, что было гордостью Иакова: «Вовек не забуду ничего из того, что они сделали!
