Глава 18

1 Несговорчивый ищет предлога для ссоры, всё разумное он бранит.

2 Не любит глупец здравомыслия, ему бы только выказать себя.

3 За нечестивым поступком приходит презрение, за недостойным — позор.

4 Слова из уст человека — глубокие воды, бурный поток, родник мудрости.

5 Несправедливо потворствовать злодею и отказывать праведнику в правосудии.

6 Язык глупца ввергает в ссоры, уста его вздорные накличут побои.

7 Вздорный рот глупца — его погибель, собственный язык — ловушка, что грозит жизни его.

8 Слова сплетника что лакомый кусочек, глубоко, до нутра они проникают.

9 Кто в работе своей нерадив, тот брат разрушителю.

10 Имя ГОСПОДНЕ — крепкая башня, укроется в ней праведник — и будет невредим.

11 Богатство для богача что город укрепленный, мнится ему, что укрылся он за стеной неприступной.

12 За превозношением идет погибель, а смирение предшествует славе.

13 Отвечать собеседнику, не дослушав, постыдно и глупо.

14 Сильный духом одолеет болезнь, а надломленный дух кто может исцелить?

15 Сердце здравомыслящего стяжает знание, слух мудрого жаждет знания.

16 Дары откроют любые двери, и даже к вельможам приведут.

17 Выступивший первым в суде кажется прав, пока другой не начнет его допрашивать.

18 Жребий прекращает тяжбы и даже сильных разводит в стороны.

19 Оскорбленный брат — что неприступный город, ссоры — что засов на воротах.

20 Плодами уст своих насытится человек, урожаем речей своих наестся.

21 Смерть и жизнь во власти языка, кто любит его — плодов его вкусит.

22 Кто нашел достойную жену — нашел наилучшее в жизни и обрел благоволение ГОСПОДА.

23 Бедняк просит, умоляя, а богач отвечает грубо.

24 Бывают друзья, от которых одни беды, а бывает друг, что любит сильнее брата.
