Chapter 32

1 WHEN the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, they gathered themselves together unto Aaron and said to him, Arise, make us gods that they may go before us; as for this man Moses who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.

2 And Aaron said to them, Remove the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them to me.

3 So all the people removed the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron.

4 And he received them, and drew a design, and made it a molten calf; and they said, This is your god, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

5 And Aaron was afraid, and he built an altar before it; then Aaron made a proclamation, and said, Tomorrow is a feast to the LORD.

6 And they rose up early on the morrow and offered burnt offerings and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play and to quarrel.

7 And the LORD said to Moses, Go down, get away from here; for your people whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves;

8 They have turned aside quickly from the way which I commanded them; they have made for themselves a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed to it, and said, This is your god, O Israel, who has brought you out of the land of Egypt.

9 And the LORD said to Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold it is a stiff-necked people;

10 Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may be kindled against them and that I may destroy them; and I will make of you a great nation.

11 But Moses prayed before the LORD his God and said, Not so, O LORD, let not thy wrath kindle against thy people whom thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand.

12 Why should the Egyptians say, It was for their injury he did bring them out to slay them in the mountains and to consume them from the face of the earth? Rest from thy fierce anger and be reconciled concerning the evil deed of thy people.

13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou didst swear by thine own self and didst say to them, I will multiply your descendants as the stars in heaven, and all the land that I have spoken of I will give to thy descendants, and they shall inherit it for ever.

14 And the LORD was reconciled concerning the evil which he had purposed to do to his people.

15 And Moses turned and went down from the mountain, and the two stone tablets of the testimony were in his hand, the tablets that were written on both sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.

16 The tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, engraved upon the tablets.

17 And when Joshua heard the noise of the people fighting, he said to Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.

18 Moses said to him, It is not the sound of the cry of mighty men, neither is it the sound of the cry of weak men; but it is the sound of sin that I hear.

19 And it came to pass as soon as they came near to the camp, he saw the calf and the cymbals; and Moses' anger raged, and he threw the tablets out of his hand and broke them at the foot of the mountain.

20 And he took the calf which they had made, and burned it in the fire, and filed it with a file until it was ground into dust, and he scattered it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

21 And Moses said to Aaron, What has this people done to you that you have brought so great a sin upon them?

22 And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord rage; you yourself know this people, that they are bad.

23 For they said to me, Make us gods that they shall go before us; as for this Moses who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.

24 And I said to them, Whosoever has any gold bring it to me. So they brought it to me; then I cast it into the fire, and it became this calf.

25 And when Moses saw that the people had sinned; (for Aaron had caused them to sin, and to leave a bad name behind them);

26 Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp and said, Who is on the LORD'S side? Let him come to me. And all the Levites gathered themselves together to him.

27 And Moses said to them, Thus says the LORD God of Israel: Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from door to door throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, his friend, and his neighbor.

28 And the Levites did according to the word of Moses; and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

29 And Moses said to them, Strengthen yourselves today before the LORD, every man with his son and with his brother; for a blessing shall come upon you today.

30 ¶And it came to pass on the next day, Moses said to the people, You have sinned this great sin; and now I will go up to the LORD; perhaps he may forgive your transgressions.

31 So Moses returned to the LORD and said, I beseech thee, O LORD God, truly this people have sinned a great sin and have made for themselves gods of gold.

32 But now, if thou wilt, forgive their sins; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.

33 And the LORD said to Moses, Whosoever has sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

34 Therefore now go, lead the people to the place where I tell you; behold, my angel shall go before you; nevertheless in the day when I punish I will visit their sins upon them.

35 And the LORD smote the people because they worshipped the calf which Aaron made.

1 Народ увидел, что прошло уже много времени, а Моисей всё не спускается с горы. Тогда люди собрались вокруг Аарона и сказали ему: «Моисей вывел нас из Египта, но мы не знаем, что с ним случилось, поэтому сделай нам богов, чтобы они шли впереди и вели нас».

2 Аарон сказал народу: «Принесите мне золотые серьги ваших жен, сыновей и дочерей».

3 И вот весь народ собрал свои золотые серьги и принёс их Аарону.

4 Аарон взял у народа золото и сделал из него статую тельца, придав ему форму с помощью резца. Тогда народ воскликнул: «Вот боги твои, Израиль! Вот боги, которые вывели тебя из Египетской земли!»

5 Увидев всё это, Аарон соорудил перед тельцом алтарь и объявил: «Завтра будет особый праздник в честь Господа».

6 На следующий день люди встали очень рано, закололи животных, принесли их в дар как жертвы всесожжения и приношения содружества, потом все сели и стали есть и пить, а затем встали и устроили буйное празднество.

7 И сказал Господь Моисею: «Спустись с этой горы. Твой народ, который ты вывел из Египетской земли, совершил великий грех!

8 Быстро они отвернулись от всего, что Я заповедал им: они сделали себе тельца из золота, поклоняются ему, принося ему жертвы. Народ сказал: „Вот боги твои, Израиль! Вот боги, которые вывели тебя из Египетской земли”».

9 «Я видел, что эти люди упрямы, — сказал Господь Моисею, — они всегда будут против Меня.

10 В гневе Своём, Я истреблю их, а затем произведу от тебя великий народ».

11 Но Моисей стал молить Господа: «Господи, пусть не истребит Твой гнев народ Твой! Ты вывел этот народ из Египта Своей великой силой и властью.

12 Если Ты истребишь Свой народ, то египтяне, увидев это, скажут: „Господь задумал недоброе против Своего народа. Он вывел израильтян из Египта, чтобы убить в горах, так как хотел стереть их с лица земли”. Не гневайся на Свой народ! Прошу Тебя, измени своё решение, не губи этих людей!

13 Вспомни Авраама, Исаака и Израиля — эти люди служили Тебе, и Ты Своим именем поклялся им, сказав: „Я сделаю твой народ многочисленным, подобно звёздам небесным, Я отдам твоему народу всю эту землю, как и обещал, и эта земля будет их землёй навечно”».

14 И тогда Господь пожалел их и не сделал того, что сказал, — Он не истребил народ.

15 А Моисей спустился с горы, неся с собой каменные скрижали Соглашения. Эти заповеди были написаны на обеих сторонах камня: на той и на другой стороне.

16 Сам Бог сделал те камни, и Сам Бог высек те заповеди на них.

17 Иисус Навин, услышав шум празд ника в лагере, сказал Моисею: «Судя по звукам, в стане — война!»

18 «Этот шум — не крики победившей армии и не вопль побеждённой, — ответил Моисей. — Я слышу звуки музыки !»

19 Подойдя к стану, Моисей увидел золотого тельца и танцующий народ. В сильном гневе Моисей бросил на землю плоские камни, и они раскололись на куски у подножия горы.

20 Затем Моисей уничтожил сделанного людьми тельца: он расплавил его в огне, потом истолок золото в пыль, бросил её в воду и заставил израильский народ выпить эту воду.

21 «Каким образом эти люди уговорили тебя совершить такое преступление? — спросил Моисей Аарона. — Что побудило тебя ввести их в такой великий грех?»

22 «Не гневайся, господин, — ответил Аарон. — Ты знаешь, что этот народ всегда готов совершить недоброе.

23 Люди сказали мне: „Моисей вывел нас из Египта, но мы не знаем, что с ним случилось, поэтому сделай нам богов, чтобы они вели нас”.

24 И я сказал людям: „Если у вас есть золотые кольца, то отдайте их мне”. Они дали мне своё золото, я бросил его в огонь, и из огня вышел этот телец!»

25 Моисей увидел, что Аарон позволил народу погрязнуть в распущенности, что люди стали необузданными, и все враги их видят, как глупо они себя ведут.

26 Тогда Моисей встал у входа в стан и сказал: «Те, кто хочет следовать Господу, подойдите ко мне!» И все сыны Левия поспешили к Моисею,

27 и Моисей сказал им: «Я скажу вам, что говорит Господь, Бог Израиля: пусть каждый опояшется своим мечом и пройдёт по стану из шатра в шатёр, и пусть каждый убьёт брата своего, друга своего, ближнего своего — всех, кто против Господа».

28 Сыны Левия исполнили сказанное Моисеем, и в тот день погибло около 3 000 человек из израильского народа.

29 Тогда Моисей сказал: «Сегодня вам пришлось идти против своих собственных сыновей и братьев. Так посвятите же себя Господу, чтобы Он дал вам благословение».

30 На следующее утро Моисей сказал народу: «Вы совершили страшный грех! Но я сейчас поднимусь к Господу и, может быть, смогу сделать так, чтобы Он простил вам ваш грех!»

31 Затем Моисей возвратился к Господу и взмолился: «Прошу Тебя, выслушай меня! Эти люди совершили великий грех. Они сделали себе бога из золота.

32 Так прости же им этот грех! Если Ты не простишь их, то сотри Моё имя из книги, которую Ты написал».

33 Но Господь ответил Моисею: «Я стираю из книги только имена тех, кто согрешил против Меня.

34 Спустись вниз и поведи за собой народ, куда Я тебе укажу, а Мой Ангел пойдёт перед тобой и поведёт тебя за собой. Те, кто согрешили, будут наказаны, когда придёт время наказания для тех, кто согрешил».

35 И послал Господь страшный мор на израильтян за то, что они просили Аарона сделать золотого тельца.

2 And Aaron said to them, Remove the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them to me.	2 Аарон сказал народу: «Принесите мне золотые серьги ваших жен, сыновей и дочерей».
3 So all the people removed the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron.	3 И вот весь народ собрал свои золотые серьги и принёс их Аарону.
4 And he received them, and drew a design, and made it a molten calf; and they said, This is your god, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.	4 Аарон взял у народа золото и сделал из него статую тельца, придав ему форму с помощью резца. Тогда народ воскликнул: «Вот боги твои, Израиль! Вот боги, которые вывели тебя из Египетской земли!»

7 And the LORD said to Moses, Go down, get away from here; for your people whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves;	7 И сказал Господь Моисею: «Спустись с этой горы. Твой народ, который ты вывел из Египетской земли, совершил великий грех!
8 They have turned aside quickly from the way which I commanded them; they have made for themselves a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed to it, and said, This is your god, O Israel, who has brought you out of the land of Egypt.	8 Быстро они отвернулись от всего, что Я заповедал им: они сделали себе тельца из золота, поклоняются ему, принося ему жертвы. Народ сказал: „Вот боги твои, Израиль! Вот боги, которые вывели тебя из Египетской земли”».
9 And the LORD said to Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold it is a stiff-necked people;	9 «Я видел, что эти люди упрямы, — сказал Господь Моисею, — они всегда будут против Меня.

Ты вывел этот народ из Египта Своей великой силой и властью.

Rest from thy fierce anger and be reconciled concerning the evil deed of thy people.	12 Если Ты истребишь Свой народ, то египтяне, увидев это, скажут: „Господь задумал недоброе против Своего народа. Он вывел израильтян из Египта, чтобы убить в горах, так как хотел стереть их с лица земли”. Не гневайся на Свой народ! Прошу Тебя, измени своё решение, не губи этих людей!

15 And Moses turned and went down from the mountain, and the two stone tablets of the testimony were in his hand, the tablets that were written on both sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.	15 А Моисей спустился с горы, неся с собой каменные скрижали Соглашения. Эти заповеди были написаны на обеих сторонах камня: на той и на другой стороне.
16 The tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, engraved upon the tablets.	16 Сам Бог сделал те камни, и Сам Бог высек те заповеди на них.
17 And when Joshua heard the noise of the people fighting, he said to Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.	17 Иисус Навин, услышав шум празд ника в лагере, сказал Моисею: «Судя по звукам, в стане — война!»
18 Moses said to him, It is not the sound of the cry of mighty men, neither is it the sound of the cry of weak men; but it is the sound of sin that I hear.	18 «Этот шум — не крики победившей армии и не вопль побеждённой, — ответил Моисей. — Я слышу звуки музыки !»
19 And it came to pass as soon as they came near to the camp, he saw the calf and the cymbals; and Moses' anger raged, and he threw the tablets out of his hand and broke them at the foot of the mountain.	19 Подойдя к стану, Моисей увидел золотого тельца и танцующий народ. В сильном гневе Моисей бросил на землю плоские камни, и они раскололись на куски у подножия горы.
20 And he took the calf which they had made, and burned it in the fire, and filed it with a file until it was ground into dust, and he scattered it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.	20 Затем Моисей уничтожил сделанного людьми тельца: он расплавил его в огне, потом истолок золото в пыль, бросил её в воду и заставил израильский народ выпить эту воду.
21 And Moses said to Aaron, What has this people done to you that you have brought so great a sin upon them?	21 «Каким образом эти люди уговорили тебя совершить такое преступление? — спросил Моисей Аарона. — Что побудило тебя ввести их в такой великий грех?»
22 And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord rage; you yourself know this people, that they are bad.	22 «Не гневайся, господин, — ответил Аарон. — Ты знаешь, что этот народ всегда готов совершить недоброе.
23 For they said to me, Make us gods that they shall go before us; as for this Moses who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.	23 Люди сказали мне: „Моисей вывел нас из Египта, но мы не знаем, что с ним случилось, поэтому сделай нам богов, чтобы они вели нас”.
24 And I said to them, Whosoever has any gold bring it to me. So they brought it to me; then I cast it into the fire, and it became this calf.	24 И я сказал людям: „Если у вас есть золотые кольца, то отдайте их мне”. Они дали мне своё золото, я бросил его в огонь, и из огня вышел этот телец!»
25 And when Moses saw that the people had sinned; (for Aaron had caused them to sin, and to leave a bad name behind them);	25 Моисей увидел, что Аарон позволил народу погрязнуть в распущенности, что люди стали необузданными, и все враги их видят, как глупо они себя ведут.
26 Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp and said, Who is on the LORD'S side? Let him come to me. And all the Levites gathered themselves together to him.	26 Тогда Моисей встал у входа в стан и сказал: «Те, кто хочет следовать Господу, подойдите ко мне!» И все сыны Левия поспешили к Моисею,
27 And Moses said to them, Thus says the LORD God of Israel: Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from door to door throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, his friend, and his neighbor.	27 и Моисей сказал им: «Я скажу вам, что говорит Господь, Бог Израиля: пусть каждый опояшется своим мечом и пройдёт по стану из шатра в шатёр, и пусть каждый убьёт брата своего, друга своего, ближнего своего — всех, кто против Господа».
28 And the Levites did according to the word of Moses; and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.	28 Сыны Левия исполнили сказанное Моисеем, и в тот день погибло около 3 000 человек из израильского народа.
29 And Moses said to them, Strengthen yourselves today before the LORD, every man with his son and with his brother; for a blessing shall come upon you today.	29 Тогда Моисей сказал: «Сегодня вам пришлось идти против своих собственных сыновей и братьев. Так посвятите же себя Господу, чтобы Он дал вам благословение».

Эти люди совершили великий грех. Они сделали себе бога из золота.

33 And the LORD said to Moses, Whosoever has sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.	33 Но Господь ответил Моисею: «Я стираю из книги только имена тех, кто согрешил против Меня.
34 Therefore now go, lead the people to the place where I tell you; behold, my angel shall go before you; nevertheless in the day when I punish I will visit their sins upon them.	34 Спустись вниз и поведи за собой народ, куда Я тебе укажу, а Мой Ангел пойдёт перед тобой и поведёт тебя за собой. Те, кто согрешили, будут наказаны, когда придёт время наказания для тех, кто согрешил».
35 And the LORD smote the people because they worshipped the calf which Aaron made.	35 И послал Господь страшный мор на израильтян за то, что они просили Аарона сделать золотого тельца.
