1 Und das Los1486 fiel dem Stamm4294 Manasse4519, denn er ist Josephs3130 erster Sohn1060, und fiel auf Machir4353, den ersten Sohn1060 Manasses4519, den Vater1 Gileads1568, denn er war ein streitbarer Mann376; darum ward ihm Gilead1568 und Basan1316.

2 Den andern3498 Kindern1121 aber Manasses4519 und1121 ihren Geschlechtern4940 fiel es auch, nämlich den Kindern1121 Abiesers44, den Kindern1121 Heleks2507, den Kindern1121 Asriels844, den Kindern1121 Sechems, den Kindern1121 Hephers2660 und den Kindern1121 Semidas8061. Das sind2145 die Kinder1121 Manasses4519, des Sohns Josephs3130, Mannsbilder unter ihren Geschlechtern4940.

3 Aber1121 Zelaphehad, der Sohn1121 Hephers2660, des Sohns Gileads1568, des Sohns Machirs4353, des Sohns Manasses4519, hatte keine Söhne1121, sondern Töchter1323; und1121 ihre Namen8034 sind diese: Mahela4244, Noa5270, Hagla, Milka4435, Thirza8656.

4 Und3548 traten vor6440 den Priester Eleasar499 und3068 vor Josua3091, den Sohn1121 Nuns5126, und vor die Obersten und sprachen: Der HErr5387 hat Mose4872 geboten, daß6310 er7126 uns sollte Erbteil5159 geben5414 unter6440 unsern Brüdern251. Und man559 gab5414 ihnen Erbteil5159 unter6440 den Brüdern251 ihres Vaters1 nach dem Befehl6680 des8432 HErrn3068.

5 Es fielen5307 aber auf Manasse4519 zehn6235 Schnüre außer dem Lande776 Gilead1568 und Basan1316, das2256 jenseit5676 des Jordans3383 liegt.

6 Denn die Töchter1323 Manasses4519 nehmen Erbteil5159 unter8432 seinen Söhnen1121, und das Land776 Gilead1568 ward den andern3498 Kindern1121 Manasses4519.

7 Und1366 die Grenze1366 Manasses4519 war3427 von Asser836 an gen Michmethath4366, die vor6440 Sechem lieget, und1980 langet zur Rechten3225 an die von En-Thapuah.

8 Denn das Land776 Thapuah ward Manasse4519; und ist die Grenze1366 Manasses4519 an die Kinder1121 Ephraim669.

9 Danach kommt sie1366 herab3381 gen Nahal-Kana7071 gegen mittagwärts5045 zu den Bachstädten, die Ephraims669 sind, unter8432 den Städten5892 Manasses4519; aber von Mitternacht6828 ist die Grenze1366 Manasses4519 am Bach5158 und5158 endet sich am Meer3220,

10 dem Ephraim669 gegen4217 Mittag5045 und dem Manasse4519 gegen Mitternacht6828; und das Meer3220 ist seine Grenze1366; und soll stoßen an6293 Asser836 von Mitternacht6828 und an Isaschar3485 von Morgen.

11 So hatte nun Manasse4519 unter Isaschar3485 und Asser836 Beth-Sean1052 und ihre Töchter1323, Jeblaam und ihre Töchter1323 und die3427 zu Dor1756 und ihre Töchter1323 und die3427 zu En-Dor und ihre Töchter1323 und die3427 zu Thaanach8590 und ihre Töchter1323 und die3427 zu Megiddo4023 und ihre Töchter1323 und das dritte Teil7969 Napheths.

12 Und die Kinder1121 Manasse4519 konnten3201 diese Städte5892 nicht einnehmen3423, sondern die Kanaaniter3669 fingen an2974 zu wohnen3427 in demselbigen Lande776.

13 Da aber die Kinder1121 Israel3478 mächtig wurden, machten sie2388 die Kanaaniter3669 zinsbar4522 und3423 vertrieben3423 sie5414 nicht.

14 Da redeten die Kinder1121 Joseph3130 mit Josua3091 und sprachen1696: Warum hast du559 mir nur ein259 Los1486 und eine Schnur2256 des Erbteils5159 gegeben5414? Und ich bin5704 doch ein groß7227 Volk5971, wie mich der HErr3068 so3541 gesegnet1288 hat.

15 Da sprach559 Josua3091 zu ihnen: Weil du ein groß7227 Volk5971 bist; so gehe hinauf5927 in den Wald3293 und haue um daselbst1254 im Lande der Pheresiter6522 und Riesen7497, weil dir das776 Gebirge2022 Ephraim669 zu enge ist213.

16 Da sprachen559 die Kinder1121 Joseph3130: Das Gebirge2022 werden wir nicht erlangen; denn es sind4672 eiserne1270 Wagen7393 bei allen Kanaanitern; die im Tal6010 des Landes776 wohnen3427, bei welchen liegt Beth-Sean1052 und3669 ihre Töchter1323 und Jesreel3157 im Tal6010.

17 Josua3091 sprach559 zum Hause1004 Josephs3130, zu Ephraim669 und Manasse4519: Du559 bist3581 ein259 groß7227 Volk5971, und weil du so groß1419 bist, mußt du nicht ein Los1486 haben,

18 sondern das Gebirge2022 soll dein sein3423, da der Wald3293 ist; den haue um, so wird er deines Loses Ende8444 sein, wenn du die Kanaaniter3669 vertreibest, die eiserne1270 Wagen7393 haben und mächtig2389 sind1254.

1 AND Gilead became the lot for the tribe of Manasseh; for he was the first-born of Joseph; to Machir the first-born of Manasseh, the father of Gilead; because he was the first-born and a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Mathnin.

2 And became also the portion for the rest of the children of Manasseh by their families; for the descendants of Abiezer and for the descendants of Helek and for the descendants of Neshrael and for the descendants of Shopam and for the descendants of Hepher and for the descendants of Shemida; these were the male children of Manasseh the son of Joseph by their families.

3 But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but daughters; and these are the names of his daughters, Mahlah, and Joah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah.

4 And they came near before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the princes of Israel, saying, The LORD commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brethren; so he gave us according to the command of the LORD, among the brothers of our father. Now therefore give us an inheritance among the brethren of our father. So Joshua gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father.

5 And there fell ten portions to Manasseh, besides the land of Gilead and Mathnin, which were on the other side of the Jordan;

6 Because the daughters of Manasseh received an inheritance among his sons; and the land of Gilead fell to the lot of the rest of the sons of Manasseh.

7 And the border of Manasseh was from the boundary of Maacath, which lies on the right hand of the inhabitants of En-tappuah.

8 Thus their land was in the region of Tappuah and Patah, which became the boundary to the descendants of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and to the Ephraimites;

9 And the boundary went down to the river of the Sea, to the south of the river of the cities which belong to Ephraim among the cities of Manasseh; and the border of Manasseh ran on the north side of the river, and the outgoings thereof reached to the sea;

10 The land to the south went to Ephraim, and that to the north to Manasseh, and the sea as their border; and they met together in Asher on the north, and in Issachar on the east.

11 And Manasseh had opposite Issachar and Asher, Beth-shean and its towns, and Neb-leam and its towns, and En-dor and its towns, and Taanach and its towns, and Megiddo and its towns, three districts.

12 Yet the Israelites could not destroy these cities, because the Canaanites took refuge and dwelt in them.

13 But when the children of Israel became strong, they subdued the Canaanites and made them pay tribute; but did not utterly destroy them.

14 And the descendants of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, Why have you given us but one portion to inherit, seeing we are a numerous people, forasmuch as the LORD has blessed us hitherto?

15 Joshua said to them, If you are a numerous people, then go up on the side of the mountain, and choose for yourselves a portion in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim is too narrow for you.

16 And the descendants of Joseph said, The mountain and the cities of the Perizzites are not enough for us; for the Canaanites still dwell in the land of the valley, and in Beth-shean and its towns, and in the valley of Jezreel.

17 Then Joshua spoke to the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and Manasseh, saying, You are a numerous people, and have a great power; if one portion is not enough for you,

18 Then choose for yourselves the mountain, and it will be enough for you, and the slopes of the mountain and its limits shall be yours; and you shall destroy the Canaanites and the Perizzites, though they have great iron chariots, and though they are strong.

10 The land to the south went to Ephraim, and that to the north to Manasseh, and the sea as their border; and they met together in Asher on the north, and in Issachar on the east.
