4 und sprach559 zu mir: Siehe, ich will dich wachsen lassen5414 und mehren7235 und will dich zum Haufen6951 Volks5971 machen6509; und will dies Land776 zu eigen272 geben5414 deinem Samen2233 nach310 dir ewiglich5769.

5 So sollen nun deine zween Söhne1121, Ephraim669 und Manasse4519, die dir geboren3205 sind935 in Ägyptenland776, ehe5704 ich hereinkommen bin zu dir, mein sein, gleichwie Ruben7205 und Simeon8095.

9 Joseph3130 antwortete seinem Vater1: Es sind meine Söhne1121, die mir GOtt430 hie gegeben5414 hat. Er sprach559: Bringe3947 sie559 her zu mir, daß ich sie1288 segne.

10 Denn die Augen5869 Israels3478 waren dunkel worden vor Alter2207 und konnte3201 nicht wohl sehen7200. Und er brachte sie5066 zu ihm. Er aber küssete sie5401 und herzete sie

11 und3478 sprach559 zu Joseph3130: Siehe, ich habe dein Angesicht gesehen7200, des ich nicht gedacht hätte6419; und siehe, GOtt430 hat mich6440 auch deinen Samen2233 sehen7200 lassen.

12 Und Joseph3130 nahm sie von3318 seinem Schoß1290 und neigete sich7812 zur Erde776 gegen5973 sein Angesicht639.

15 Und er segnete1288 Joseph3130 und sprach559: GOtt430, vor dem meine Väter1, Abraham85 und Isaak3327, gewandelt haben1980, GOtt430, der mich mein Leben lang5750 ernähret hat7462 bis auf6440 diesen Tag3117,

16 der Engel4397, der mich erlöset hat1350 von allem Übel7451, der segne die8034 Knaben5288, daß sie1288 nach meinem und85 nach meiner Väter1, Abrahams und3327 Isaaks, Namen8034 genannt7121 werden7230, daß sie wachsen1711 und viel werden auf7130 Erden776.

17 Da aber Joseph3130 sah7200, daß sein Vater1 die rechte Hand3225 auf Ephraims669 Haupt7218 legte7896, gefiel5869 es ihm übel3415; und fassete seines Vaters1 Hand3027, daß er sie5493 von3027 Ephraims669 Haupt7218 auf Manasses4519 Haupt7218 wendete,

18 und3130 sprach559 zu ihm1: Nicht so, mein Vater1; dieser ist der Erstgeborene1060, lege7760 deine rechte Hand3225 auf sein Haupt7218.

19 Aber199 sein Vater1 weigerte sich3985 und sprach559: Ich weiß3045 wohl, mein Sohn1121, ich weiß3045 wohl. Dieser soll auch ein Volk5971 werden und wird1431 groß sein; aber sein jüngster6996 Bruder251 wird1431 größer, denn er, werden, und sein Same2233 wird ein groß Volk1471 werden.

20 Also segnete1288 er sie des Tages3117 und sprach559: Wer in Israel3478 will jemand segnen1288, der sage559: GOtt430 setze7760 dich wie Ephraim669 und Manasse4519! Und setzte7760 also Ephraim669 Manasse4519 vor6440.

21 Und Israel3478 sprach559 zu Joseph3130: Siehe, ich sterbe4191; und GOtt430 wird mit euch sein und wird euch wiederbringen7725 in das Land776 eurer Väter1.

22 Ich habe3947 dir ein259 Stück Landes gegeben5414 außer deinen Brüdern251, das ich mit meinem Schwert2719 und Bogen7198 aus der Hand3027 der Amoriter567 genommen habe.

Chapter 48

1 AND it came to pass after these things that Joseph was told, Behold, your father is sick; and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.

2 And they en_lbp_informed Jacob, and said to him, Behold, your son Joseph has come to you; and Israel strengthened himself, and sat up on the bed.

3 And Jacob said to Joseph, God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan and blessed me,

4 And he said to me, Behold, I will bless you, and multiply you, and I will make of you a multitude of peoples; and I will give this land to your descendants after you for an everlasting possession.

5 And now your two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you into the land of Egypt, are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.

6 But the children that you begot after them shall be yours, and shall be called after the name of their brothers when they come into their inheritance.

7 And as for me, when I was coming from Padan-aram, Rachel died at my side in the land of Canaan on the way, within the distance of three or four miles from the entrance to Ephrath; and I buried her there on the road to Ephrath; the same is Bethlehem.

8 And when Israel saw Joseph's sons, he said to him, Who are these?

9 And Joseph said to his father, They are my sons whom God has given me in this place. And he said, Bring them near me, and I will bless them.

10 Now the eyes of Israel were dim because of age, so that he could not see well. And Joseph brought them near to him; and he kissed them and embraced them.

11 And Israel said to Joseph, I had not thought to see your face; and, 1o, God has shown me your children also.

12 And Joseph removed them from before his knees, and they bowed themselves before him with their faces to the ground.

13 Then Joseph took both of his sons, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand, and brought them near to him.

14 And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head; he changed the position of his hands wittingly, even though Manasseh was the first-born.

15 And Jacob blessed Joseph his son, saying, The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked righteously, the God who has supplied my needs from my youth to this day,

16 The angel who has delivered me from all evil, bless the lads; and let them bear my name and the names of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow and multiply in the midst of the earth.

17 And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him; and he held up his father's hand, to remove it from Ephraim's head to Manasseh's head.

18 And Joseph said to his father, Not so, my father; for this is the first-born; put your right hand upon his head.

19 But his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it; he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become a multitude of peoples.

20 And he blessed them that day, saying, By you shall Israel bless, and they shall say, May God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh; and thus he set Ephraim before Manasseh.

21 Then Israel said to Joseph, Behold, I am dying, but God shall be with you, and bring you again to the land of your fathers.

22 Moreover I have given to you one portion of the land more than our brothers, which I took from the and of the Amorites with my sword and with my bow.
