2 І того дня взяв його Сау́л, і не пустив його вернутися до дому його ба́тька. |
|
3 І склав Йоната́н із Давидом умову, бо полюбив його, як душу свою. |
|
4 І зняв Йоната́н із себе плаща́, що був на ньому, та й дав його Давидові, і вбрання́ своє, і все аж до меча свого, і аж до лу́ка свого, і аж до по́яса свого. |
|
5 І ходив Давид скрізь, куди посилав його Саул, і робив мудро. І настанови́в його Саул над вояка́ми, і він подо́бався усьому наро́дові, а також Сауловим рабам. |
|
6 І сталося, як вони йшли, коли Давид вертався, побивши филисти́млянина, то повихо́дили жінки́ зо всіх Ізраїлевих міст, — щоб співати та танцюва́ти назустріч царя Саула, із бу́бнами, із радістю, та з цимба́лами. |
|
7 І викрикували ті жінки́, що грали, та й казали: „Саул повбива́в свої тисячі, а Давид — десятки тисяч свої!“ |
|
8 І дуже запалився Саулів гнів, і та річ була неприє́мна йому, і він сказав: „Давидові дали́ десятки тисяч, а мені дали тисячі, — йому бракує ще тільки царюва́ння!“ |
|
9 І від того дня й далі Саул дивився за́здрісним оком на Давида. |
|
10 І сталося другого дня, і напав злий дух від Бога на Саула, і він став несамови́тий в себе вдома, а Давид грав своєю рукою, як щоденно, а в Сауловій руці був спис. |
|
11 І кинув Саул списа, кажучи про себе: „Уда́рю в Давида, і приб'ю його до стіни́! Та Давид два ра́зи ухили́вся від нього. |
|
12 І боявся Саул Давида, бо з ним був Госпо́дь, а від Саула Він відступи́в. |
|
13 І віддали́в його Саул від себе, і настанови́в його собі тисячником, і він вихо́див на війни, і верта́вся перед наро́дом. |
|
14 І мав Давид пово́дження в усіх дорогах своїх, і з ним був Господь. |
|
15 І побачив Саул, що той має велике пово́дження, і налякався його. |
|
16 А ввесь Ізраїль та Юда любили Давида, бо він вихо́див на війни, і верта́вся перед ними. |
|
17 І сказав Саул до Давида: „Ось моя найстарша дочка́ Мерав, — її я дам тобі за жінку. Тільки будь мені хоробрим та воюй Господні ві́йни!“ А про себе Саул сказав: „Нехай не буде на ньому моя рука, — а нехай буде на ньому рука филисти́млян!“ |

18 А Давид сказав до Саула: „Хто я, і яке життя моє та рід мого батька в Ізраїлі, що я стану зя́тем цареві?“ |
|
19 І сталося, коли настав час дати Давидові Мерав, Саулову дочку́, то вона була ви́дана за жінку мехолатитянинові Адріїлові, |
|
20 а Давида покохала Мелхо́ла,друга Саулова дочка́. І розповіли́ про це Саулові, і ця річ була слу́шна в оча́х його. |
|
21 І сказав Саул про себе: Дам я її йому, і нехай вона стане йому за па́стку, — і нехай буде на ньому рука филисти́млян!“ А до Давида Саул сказав удруге: „Посвоя́чишся сьогодні зо мною“. |
|
22 І наказав Саул своїм рабам: „Промовляйте до Давида поти́ху, говорячи: Ось цар уподо́бав тебе собі, а всі його раби полюбили тебе, а тепер ти посвоя́чишся з царем“. |
|
23 І Саулові раби говорили ці слова до Давидових ушей. А Давид сказав: „Чи то легко в ваших оча́х посвоя́читися з царем? Таж я люди́на вбога та маловажна!“ |
|
24 І розповіли́ це раби Саула йому, говорячи: „Отак говорив Давид“. |
|
25 І сказав Саул: „Так скажете Давидові: Не бажає цар заплати за молоду́, а бажає тільки сто крайніх плотів филистимських, щоб пімститися на не́приятелях царя“. А Саул ду́мав тим зробити, щоб Давид попав до руки филисти́млян. |
|
26 І його раби переказали ці слова Давидові, і ця річ була мила в Давидових очах, щоб посвоя́читися з царем. І в недовгому ча́сі |
|
27 встав Давид, та й пішов він та його люди, і забив серед филисти́млян двісті чоловіка. І Давид приніс їхні крайні плоті, і дав їх у повному числі цареві, щоб посвоя́читися з царем. І Саул дав йому за жінку дочку́ свою Мелхо́лу. |
|
28 І побачив Саул, і пізнав, що Господь із Давидом, а Мелхо́ла, Саулова дочка́, полюбила його. |
|
29 А Саул ще й далі боявся Давида. І Саул нена́видів Давида по всі дні. |
|
30 І вихо́дили воювати филистимські провідники́, і бувало — скільки вони вихо́дили, то Давид мав найбільше пово́дження від усіх Саулових рабів. І стало ім'я́ його дуже шановане. |

1 WHEN David had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. |
|
2 And Saul took him that day, and would not let him return to his father's house. |
|
3 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because Jonathan loved David as his own soul. |
|
4 And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword and his bow and his girdle. |
|
5 And David went out wherever Saul sent him and was victorious; so that Saul appointed him over the men of war, and he found favor in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul's servants. |
|
6 And it came to pass as they returned, when David came back from the slaughter of the Philistines, the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul with tambourines, and with cymbals, and were rejoicing. |
|
7 And the women sang as they played, and laughed, saying, Saul has slain by thousands, and David by tens of thousands. |
|
8 And Saul was very wroth, and this saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands; and what more can he have but the kingdom? |
|
9 And Saul began to envy David from that day forward. |
|
10 And it came to pass after some days that an evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of his house, and David was playing music in his presence, as at other times; and there was a javelin in Saul's hand. |
|
11 And Saul threw the javelin; for he said, I will pin David to the wall. But David evaded it twice. |
|
12 And Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, and had departed from Saul. |
|
13 Therefore Saul removed him from his presence, and made him a commander over a thousand; and he went out to war and came in before the people. |
|
14 And David was a man of understanding in all his ways; and the LORD was with him. |
|
15 And when Saul saw that he was exceedingly wise, he was afraid of him. |
|
16 But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out to war and came in before them. |
|
17 And Saul said to David, Behold my elder daughter Nadab, I will give her to you to wife, but you must become a commander-in-chief for me and fight the LORD'S battles. For Saul said, Let not my hand be against him, but let the hand of the Philistines be against him. |
|
18 And David said to Saul, Who am I? And what have I done, or what is my life or my father's family in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king? |
|
19 But it came to pass at the time when Nadab, Saul's daughter should have been given to David, she was given to Azriel the Meholathite to wife. |
|
20 And Malchel Saul's daughter loved David; and they told Saul, and the thing pleased him. |
|
21 And Saul said, I will give her to him, that she may be a hindrance to him and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Wherefore Saul said to David, You shall this day be my son-in-law in doing one of two things. |
|
22 And Saul commanded his servants to speak to David the son of Jesse, saying, Behold the king has delight in you, and all his servants love you; now therefore be the king's son-in-law. |
|
23 And Saul's servants spoke these words to David. And David said, Seems it to you a light thing to be a king's son-in-law, seeing that I am a poor man and despised? |
|
24 And the servants of Saul told him, saying, These are the words which David spoke. |
|
25 And Saul said, Thus shall you say to David, The king does not desire any dowry, but two hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of his enemies. But King Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines. |
|
26 And when the servants of Saul told David these words, it pleased David well to be the king's son-in-law; but the time had not come. |
|
27 Wherefore David arose and went out, he and his men, and slew two hundred men of the Philistines; and David brought their foreskins and gave them to the king, that he might be the king's son-in-law. And Saul gave him Malchel his daughter to wife. |
|
28 land Saul saw and knew that the LORD was with David and that Malchel Saul's daughter loved David exceedingly. |
|
29 And Saul was still the more afraid of David; and Saul became David's enemy thenceforth. |
|
30 Then the princes of the Philistines went forth raiding; and it came to pass at the time they went forth raiding, David was more successful than all the servants of Saul; so that his name was highly honored. |

6 And it came to pass as they returned, when David came back from the slaughter of the Philistines, the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul with tambourines, and with cymbals, and were rejoicing. |

7 І викрикували ті жінки́, що грали, та й казали: „Саул повбива́в свої тисячі, а Давид — десятки тисяч свої!“ |
7 And the women sang as they played, and laughed, saying, Saul has slain by thousands, and David by tens of thousands. |
|
8 І дуже запалився Саулів гнів, і та річ була неприє́мна йому, і він сказав: „Давидові дали́ десятки тисяч, а мені дали тисячі, — йому бракує ще тільки царюва́ння!“ |
8 And Saul was very wroth, and this saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands; and what more can he have but the kingdom? |

9 І від того дня й далі Саул дивився за́здрісним оком на Давида. |
9 And Saul began to envy David from that day forward. |

10 And it came to pass after some days that an evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of his house, and David was playing music in his presence, as at other times; and there was a javelin in Saul's hand. |

11 And Saul threw the javelin; for he said, I will pin David to the wall. But David evaded it twice. |
|
12 І боявся Саул Давида, бо з ним був Госпо́дь, а від Саула Він відступи́в. |
12 And Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, and had departed from Saul. |
|
13 І віддали́в його Саул від себе, і настанови́в його собі тисячником, і він вихо́див на війни, і верта́вся перед наро́дом. |
13 Therefore Saul removed him from his presence, and made him a commander over a thousand; and he went out to war and came in before the people. |
|
14 І мав Давид пово́дження в усіх дорогах своїх, і з ним був Господь. |
14 And David was a man of understanding in all his ways; and the LORD was with him. |
|
15 І побачив Саул, що той має велике пово́дження, і налякався його. |
15 And when Saul saw that he was exceedingly wise, he was afraid of him. |
|
16 А ввесь Ізраїль та Юда любили Давида, бо він вихо́див на війни, і верта́вся перед ними. |
16 But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out to war and came in before them. |
|
17 І сказав Саул до Давида: „Ось моя найстарша дочка́ Мерав, — її я дам тобі за жінку. Тільки будь мені хоробрим та воюй Господні ві́йни!“ А про себе Саул сказав: „Нехай не буде на ньому моя рука, — а нехай буде на ньому рука филисти́млян!“ |
17 And Saul said to David, Behold my elder daughter Nadab, I will give her to you to wife, but you must become a commander-in-chief for me and fight the LORD'S battles. For Saul said, Let not my hand be against him, but let the hand of the Philistines be against him. |
|
18 А Давид сказав до Саула: „Хто я, і яке життя моє та рід мого батька в Ізраїлі, що я стану зя́тем цареві?“ |
18 And David said to Saul, Who am I? And what have I done, or what is my life or my father's family in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king? |
|
19 І сталося, коли настав час дати Давидові Мерав, Саулову дочку́, то вона була ви́дана за жінку мехолатитянинові Адріїлові, |
19 But it came to pass at the time when Nadab, Saul's daughter should have been given to David, she was given to Azriel the Meholathite to wife. |
|
20 а Давида покохала Мелхо́ла,друга Саулова дочка́. І розповіли́ про це Саулові, і ця річ була слу́шна в оча́х його. |
20 And Malchel Saul's daughter loved David; and they told Saul, and the thing pleased him. |
|
21 І сказав Саул про себе: Дам я її йому, і нехай вона стане йому за па́стку, — і нехай буде на ньому рука филисти́млян!“ А до Давида Саул сказав удруге: „Посвоя́чишся сьогодні зо мною“. |
21 And Saul said, I will give her to him, that she may be a hindrance to him and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Wherefore Saul said to David, You shall this day be my son-in-law in doing one of two things. |

23 І Саулові раби говорили ці слова до Давидових ушей. А Давид сказав: „Чи то легко в ваших оча́х посвоя́читися з царем? Таж я люди́на вбога та маловажна!“ |
23 And Saul's servants spoke these words to David. And David said, Seems it to you a light thing to be a king's son-in-law, seeing that I am a poor man and despised? |

24 І розповіли́ це раби Саула йому, говорячи: „Отак говорив Давид“. |
24 And the servants of Saul told him, saying, These are the words which David spoke. |

25 І сказав Саул: „Так скажете Давидові: Не бажає цар заплати за молоду́, а бажає тільки сто крайніх плотів филистимських, щоб пімститися на не́приятелях царя“. А Саул ду́мав тим зробити, щоб Давид попав до руки филисти́млян. |
25 And Saul said, Thus shall you say to David, The king does not desire any dowry, but two hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of his enemies. But King Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines. |

26 And when the servants of Saul told David these words, it pleased David well to be the king's son-in-law; but the time had not come. |
|
27 встав Давид, та й пішов він та його люди, і забив серед филисти́млян двісті чоловіка. І Давид приніс їхні крайні плоті, і дав їх у повному числі цареві, щоб посвоя́читися з царем. І Саул дав йому за жінку дочку́ свою Мелхо́лу. |
27 Wherefore David arose and went out, he and his men, and slew two hundred men of the Philistines; and David brought their foreskins and gave them to the king, that he might be the king's son-in-law. And Saul gave him Malchel his daughter to wife. |
|
28 І побачив Саул, і пізнав, що Господь із Давидом, а Мелхо́ла, Саулова дочка́, полюбила його. |
28 land Saul saw and knew that the LORD was with David and that Malchel Saul's daughter loved David exceedingly. |
|
29 А Саул ще й далі боявся Давида. І Саул нена́видів Давида по всі дні. |
29 And Saul was still the more afraid of David; and Saul became David's enemy thenceforth. |
|
30 І вихо́дили воювати филистимські провідники́, і бувало — скільки вони вихо́дили, то Давид мав найбільше пово́дження від усіх Саулових рабів. І стало ім'я́ його дуже шановане. |
30 Then the princes of the Philistines went forth raiding; and it came to pass at the time they went forth raiding, David was more successful than all the servants of Saul; so that his name was highly honored. |
