Глава 18

1 Спустя долгое время, на третьем году засухи, к Илии было слово Господа: — Иди и предстань перед Ахавом, и Я пошлю на землю дождь.

2 И Илия пошел, чтобы предстать перед Ахавом. В Самарии был страшный голод,

3 и Ахав призвал Авдия, распорядителя его дворца. (Авдий был верным почитателем Господа.

4 Когда Иезавель истребляла Господних пророков, Авдий взял сто пророков и спрятал их в двух пещерах, по пятьдесят в каждой, и снабжал их пищей и водой.)

10 Верно, как и то, что жив Господь, твой Бог: нет ни такого народа, ни царства, куда мой господин не посылал бы искать тебя. И всякий раз, когда в том царстве или в народе говорили, что тебя там нет, он брал с них клятву, что они не смогли тебя отыскать.

11 А теперь ты говоришь: «Пойди, скажи хозяину, что Илия здесь».

12 Я уйду от тебя, а Дух Господень унесет тебя, не знаю куда. Я приду и скажу Ахаву, он тебя не найдет и убьет меня. А я, твой слуга, чту Господа с юности.

13 Разве моему господину не рассказывали, что я сделал, когда Иезавель убивала пророков Господа? Я спрятал сто пророков Господа в двух пещерах, по пятьдесят в каждой, и снабжал их пищей и водой.

14 А теперь ты говоришь мне пойти к моему хозяину и сказать: «Илия здесь». Да он меня убьет!

15 Илия сказал: — Верно, как и то, что жив Господь Сил, я непременно предстану сегодня перед Ахавом.

16 Авдий отправился навстречу Ахаву и все рассказал ему. Тогда Ахав пошел навстречу Илии.

17 Увидев Илию, он сказал ему: — Это ты навел беду на Израиль?

18 — Не я навел беду на Израиль, — ответил Илия, — а ты и дом твоего отца. Вы оставили повеления Господа и пошли за Баалами.

19 Пошли же людей и собери народ со всего Израиля ко мне на гору Кармил. Приведи четыреста пятьдесят пророков Баала и четыреста пророков Ашеры, которые едят со стола Иезавели.

20 Ахав послал известить всех израильтян и собрал пророков на гору Кармил.

21 Илия вышел к народу и сказал: — Сколько еще вы будете пытаться усидеть на двух стульях? Если Господь — это Бог, идите за Ним, а если Баал, то идите за ним. Народ не отвечал ему ни слова.

23 Пусть нам приведут двух быков. Затем пусть они выберут себе одного, разрежут его на куски и положат на дрова, но не поджигают их. Я подготовлю другого быка, положу его на дрова, но не подожгу их.

24 И тогда вы призовете имя вашего бога, а я призову имя Господа. Бог, Который ответит огнем, — и есть истинный Бог. И весь народ сказал: — То, что ты говоришь, хорошо.

25 Илия сказал пророкам Баала: — Выберите одного из двух быков и приготовьте его первыми, раз вас так много. Призывайте имя своего бога, но не зажигайте огня.

26 Они взяли быка, которого им дали, и подготовили его. Они призывали имя Баала с утра до полудня. — Баал, ответь нам! — кричали они. Но отклика не было, никто не отвечал. Они скакали вокруг сделанного ими жертвенника.

27 В полдень Илия начал насмехаться над ними. — Кричите громче! — говорил он. — Он же бог! Наверное, он задумался, занят или путешествует. А может быть, он спит, и его нужно разбудить.

30 Тогда Илия сказал народу: — Подойдите ко мне. Они подошли к нему, и он восстановил разрушенный жертвенник Господа.

31 Илия взял двенадцать камней — по числу родов, произошедших от Иакова, к которому было обращено слово Господа: «Твое имя будет Израиль».

32 Из этих камней он сложил жертвенник во имя Господа и выкопал вокруг него ров в две саты зерна.

33 Он разложил дрова, разрезал быка на части и положил его на дрова.

34 Затем он сказал: — Наполните четыре больших кувшина водой и вылейте ее на жертву всесожжения и на дрова. — Повторите, — сказал он. И они повторили. — Сделайте это в третий раз, — сказал он. И они сделали это в третий раз.

35 Вода лилась вокруг жертвенника и даже наполнила ров.

36 Когда пришло время жертвоприношения, пророк Илия подошел и сказал: — Господи, Боже Авраама, Исаака и Израиля, пусть откроется сегодня, что Ты — Бог в Израиле, а я — Твой слуга и совершил все это по Твоему слову!

37 Ответь мне, Господи, ответь мне, чтобы этот народ узнал, что Ты, Господи, Бог и что Ты вновь обращаешь их сердца.

38 Тогда сошел огонь Господень и пожрал жертву всесожжения, дрова, камни и почву и поглотил воду во рву.

39 Увидев это, весь народ пал ниц и закричал: — Господь есть Бог! Господь есть Бог!

40 А Илия приказал им: — Схватите пророков Баала! Смотрите, чтобы ни один не скрылся! Они схватили их, а Илия отвел их к реке Кишону и там перебил.

41 Илия сказал Ахаву: — Иди, ешь и пей, потому что вот он, шум ливня.

Chapter 18

2 And Elijah452 went3212 to show7200 himself to Ahab.256 And there was a sore2389 famine7458 in Samaria.8111

3 And Ahab256 called7121 Obadiah,5662 which834 was the governor5921 1004 of his house.1004 (Now Obadiah5662 feared3373 the LORD3068 greatly:3966

4 For it was so, when Jezebel348 cut3772 off the prophets5030 of the LORD,3068 that Obadiah5662 took3947 an hundred3967 prophets,5030 and hid2244 them by fifty2572 in a cave,4631 and fed3557 them with bread3899 and water.4325)

5 And Ahab256 said559 to Obadiah,5662 Go3212 into the land,776 to all3605 fountains4599 of water,4325 and to all brooks:5158 peradventure194 we may find4672 grass2682 to save2421 the horses5483 and mules6505 alive,2421 that we lose3772 not all3605 the beasts.929

6 So they divided2505 the land776 between them to pass5674 throughout it: Ahab256 went1980 one259 way1870 by himself, and Obadiah5662 went1980 another259 way1870 by himself.

7 And as Obadiah5662 was in the way,1870 behold,2009 Elijah452 met7125 him: and he knew5234 him, and fell5307 on5921 his face,6440 and said,559 Are you that my lord113 Elijah?452

8 And he answered559 him, I am: go,3212 tell559 your lord,113 Behold,2009 Elijah452 is here.

9 And he said,559 What4100 have I sinned,2398 that you would deliver5414 your servant5650 into the hand3027 of Ahab, to slay4191 me?

10 As the LORD3068 your God430 lives,2416 there is no518 nation1471 or kingdom,4467 where834 8033 my lord113 has not sent7971 to seek1245 you: and when they said,559 He is not there; he took an oath7650 of the kingdom4467 and nation,1471 that they found4672 you not.

11 And now6258 you say,559 Go,3212 tell559 your lord,113 Behold,2009 Elijah452 is here.

12 And it shall come1961 to pass, as soon as I am gone3212 from you, that the Spirit7307 of the LORD3068 shall carry5375 you where5921 834 I know3045 not; and so when I come935 and tell5046 Ahab,256 and he cannot3808 find4672 you, he shall slay2026 me: but I your servant5650 fear3372 the LORD3068 from my youth.5271

13 Was it not told5046 my lord113 what853 834 I did6213 when Jezebel348 slew2026 the prophets5030 of the LORD,3068 how I hid2244 an hundred3967 men376 of the LORD's3068 prophets5030 by fifty2572 in a cave,4631 and fed3557 them with bread3899 and water?4325

14 And now6258 you say,559 Go,3212 tell559 your lord,113 Behold,2009 Elijah452 is here: and he shall slay2026 me.

15 And Elijah452 said,559 As the LORD3068 of hosts6635 lives,2416 before6440 whom834 I stand,5975 I will surely3588 show7200 myself to him to day.3117

16 So Obadiah5662 went3212 to meet7125 Ahab,256 and told5046 him: and Ahab256 went3212 to meet7125 Elijah.452

17 And it came1961 to pass, when Ahab256 saw7200 Elijah,452 that Ahab256 said559 to him, Are you he that troubles5916 Israel?3478

18 And he answered,559 I have not troubled5916 Israel;3478 but you, and your father's1 house,1004 in that you have forsaken5800 the commandments4687 of the LORD,3068 and you have followed3212 310 Baalim.1168

19 Now6258 therefore send,7971 and gather6908 to me all3605 Israel3478 to mount2022 Carmel,3760 and the prophets5030 of Baal1168 four702 hundred3967 and fifty,2572 and the prophets5030 of the groves842 four702 hundred,3967 which eat398 at Jezebel's348 table.7979

20 So Ahab256 sent7971 to all3605 the children1121 of Israel,3478 and gathered6908 the prophets5030 together to mount2022 Carmel.3760

21 And Elijah452 came5066 to all3605 the people,5971 and said,559 How5704 long5704 halt6452 you between5921 two8147 opinions?5587 if518 the LORD3068 be God,430 follow3212 310 him: but if518 Baal,1168 then follow3212 310 him. And the people5971 answered6030 him not a word.1697

22 Then said559 Elijah452 to the people,5971 I, even I only,905 remain3498 a prophet5030 of the LORD;3068 but Baal's1168 prophets5030 are four702 hundred3967 and fifty2572 men.376

23 Let them therefore give5414 us two8147 bullocks;6499 and let them choose977 one259 bullock6499 for themselves,1992 and cut5408 it in pieces, and lay7760 it on5921 wood,6086 and put7760 no3808 fire784 under: and I will dress6213 the other259 bullock,6499 and lay7760 it on5921 wood,6086 and put7760 no3808 fire784 under:

24 And call7121 you on the name8034 of your gods,430 and I will call7121 on the name8034 of the LORD:3068 and the God430 that answers6030 by fire,784 let him be God.430 And all3605 the people5971 answered6030 and said,559 It is well2896 spoken.1697

25 And Elijah452 said559 to the prophets5030 of Baal,1168 Choose977 you one259 bullock6499 for yourselves, and dress6213 it first;7223 for you are many;7227 and call7121 on the name8034 of your gods,430 but put7760 no3808 fire784 under.

26 And they took3947 the bullock6499 which was given5414 them, and they dressed6213 it, and called7121 on the name8034 of Baal1168 from morning1242 even until5704 noon,6672 saying,559 O Baal,1168 hear6030 us. But there was no369 voice,6963 nor369 any that answered.6030 And they leaped6452 on the altar4196 which834 was made.6213

27 And it came1961 to pass at noon,6672 that Elijah452 mocked2048 them, and said,559 Cry7121 aloud:6963 1419 for he is a god;430 either3588 he is talking,7879 or he is pursuing,7873 or he is in a journey,1870 or peradventure194 he sleeps,3463 and must be awaked.3364

28 And they cried7121 aloud,1419 3605 and cut1413 themselves after their manner4941 with knives2719 and lancets,7420 till5704 the blood1818 gushed8210 out on them.

29 And it came1961 to pass, when midday6672 was past,5674 and they prophesied5012 until5704 the time of the offering5927 of the evening sacrifice,4503 that there was neither369 voice,6963 nor369 any to answer,6030 nor369 any that regarded.7182

30 And Elijah452 said559 to all3605 the people,5971 Come5066 near5066 to me. And all3605 the people5971 came5066 near5066 to him. And he repaired7495 the altar4196 of the LORD3068 that was broken2040 down.

31 And Elijah452 took3947 twelve8147 6240 stones,68 according to the number4557 of the tribes7626 of the sons1121 of Jacob,3290 to whom834 the word1697 of the LORD3068 came,1961 saying,559 Israel3478 shall be your name:8034

32 And with the stones68 he built1129 an altar4196 in the name8034 of the LORD:3068 and he made6213 a trench8585 about5439 the altar,4196 as great1004 as would contain1004 two measures5429 of seed.2233

33 And he put6186 the wood6086 in order,6186 and cut5408 the bullock6499 in pieces, and laid7760 him on5921 the wood,6086 and said,559 Fill4390 four702 barrels3537 with water,4325 and pour3332 it on5921 the burnt5930 sacrifice, and on5921 the wood.6086

34 And he said,559 Do it the second8138 time. And they did it the second8138 time. And he said,559 Do it the third8027 time. And they did it the third8027 time.

35 And the water4325 ran7323 round5439 about the altar;4196 and he filled4390 the trench8585 also1571 with water.4325

36 And it came1961 to pass at the time of the offering5927 of the evening sacrifice,4503 that Elijah452 the prophet5030 came5066 near,5066 and said,559 LORD3068 God430 of Abraham,85 Isaac,3327 and of Israel,3478 let it be known3045 this2088 day3117 that you are God430 in Israel,3478 and that I am your servant,5650 and that I have done6213 all3605 these428 things1697 at your word.1697

37 Hear6030 me, O LORD,3068 hear6030 me, that this2088 people5971 may know3045 that you are the LORD3068 God,430 and that you have turned5437 their heart3820 back322 again.322

38 Then the fire784 of the LORD3068 fell,5307 and consumed398 the burnt5930 sacrifice, and the wood,6086 and the stones,68 and the dust,6083 and licked3897 up the water4325 that was in the trench.8585

39 And when all3605 the people5971 saw7200 it, they fell5307 on5921 their faces:6440 and they said,559 The LORD,3068 he is the God;430 the LORD,3068 he is the God.430

40 And Elijah452 said559 to them, Take8610 the prophets5030 of Baal;1168 let not one376 of them escape.4422 And they took8610 them: and Elijah452 brought3381 them down3381 to the brook5158 Kishon,7028 and slew7819 them there.8033

41 And Elijah452 said559 to Ahab,256 Get5927 you up, eat398 and drink;8354 for there is a sound6963 of abundance1995 of rain.1653

42 So Ahab256 went5927 up to eat398 and to drink.8354 And Elijah452 went5927 up to the top7218 of Carmel;3760 and he cast1457 himself down1457 on the earth,776 and put7760 his face6440 between996 his knees,1290

43 And said559 to his servant,5288 Go5927 up now,4994 look5027 toward1870 the sea.3220 And he went5927 up, and looked,5027 and said,559 There is nothing.3808 3972 And he said,559 Go7725 again7725 seven7651 times.6471

44 And it came1961 to pass at the seventh7637 time, that he said,559 Behold,2009 there rises5927 a little6996 cloud5645 out of the sea,3220 like a man's376 hand.3709 And he said,559 Go5927 up, say559 to Ahab,256 Prepare631 your chariot, and get3381 you down 3381that the rain1653 stop6113 you not.

45 And it came1961 to pass in the mean5704 3541 while,3541 that the heaven8064 was black6937 with clouds5645 and wind,7307 and there was a great1419 rain.1653 And Ahab256 rode,7392 and went3212 to Jezreel.3157

46 And the hand3027 of the LORD3068 was on413 Elijah;452 and he girded8151 up his loins,4975 and ran7323 before6440 Ahab256 to the entrance935 of Jezreel.3157

33 Он разложил дрова, разрезал быка на части и положил его на дрова.

37 Ответь мне, Господи, ответь мне, чтобы этот народ узнал, что Ты, Господи, Бог и что Ты вновь обращаешь их сердца.

38 Тогда сошел огонь Господень и пожрал жертву всесожжения, дрова, камни и почву и поглотил воду во рву.

38 Then the fire784 of the LORD3068 fell,5307 and consumed398 the burnt5930 sacrifice, and the wood,6086 and the stones,68 and the dust,6083 and licked3897 up the water4325 that was in the trench.8585

39 Увидев это, весь народ пал ниц и закричал: — Господь есть Бог! Господь есть Бог!

39 And when all3605 the people5971 saw7200 it, they fell5307 on5921 their faces:6440 and they said,559 The LORD,3068 he is the God;430 the LORD,3068 he is the God.430
