Глава 6

1 В ту ночь не приходил к царю сон, и велел он принести памятную книгу дневных записей, и читали их пред царем.

2 И встретилось записанное там, как Мардохей донес на Бигфану и Фереша, двух царских евнухов, из числа оберегающих порог, которые искали случая наложить руку на царя Ахашвероша.

3 И сказал царь: какая дана за это почесть и отличие Мардохею? И сказали слуги царевы, служащие у него: ничего не сделано ему.

4 И сказал царь: кто на дворе? (Аман пришел тогда на внешний двор царского дома поговорить с царем, чтоб повесили Мардохея на дереве, которое он приготовил для него.)

5 И сказали ему слуги царевы: вот Аман стоит на дворе. И сказал царь: пусть войдет.

6 И вошел Аман. И сказал ему царь: что бы сделать с тем человеком, которого царь хочет отличить почестью? И подумал Аман в сердце своем: кому другому захочет царь оказать почесть, кроме меня?

7 И сказал Аман царю: тому человеку, которого царь хочет отличить почестью,

8 Пусть подадут царское одеяние, в которое одевается царь, и коня, на котором ездит царь, и пусть возложат царский венец на главу его.

9 Одеяние и коня пусть подадут в руки одному из первых князей царевых, и облекут того человека, которого царь хочет отличить почестью, и выведут его на коне на городскую площадь, и провозгласят пред ним: вот что делается тому человеку, которого царь хочет отличить почестью!

10 И сказал царь Аману: возьми тотчас одеяние и коня, как ты сказал, и сделай это Мардохею Иудеянину, сидящему у царских ворот; ничего не опусти из всего того, что ты говорил.

11 И взял Аман одеяние и коня, и облек Мардохея, и вывел его на коне на городскую площадь и провозгласил пред ним: вот, что делается тому человеку, которого царь хочет отличить почестью.

12 И возвратился Мардохей к царским воротам. А Аман побежал в дом свой, печальный, закрыв от стыда голову.

13 И пересказал Аман жене своей Зереши и всем друзьям своим все, что встретилось с ним. И сказали ему мудрецы его и жена его Зерешь: если Мардохей, пред которым ты начал унижаться, из племени Иудеев, то не пересилишь его, а наверно упадешь пред ним.

14 Когда они еще разговаривали с ним, пришли евнухи царевы и торопили Амана итти на обед, который приготовила Есфирь.

Chapter 6

1 ON that night the king could not sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of the records of the chronicles; and they were read be fore the king.

2 And it was found written that Mordecai had told of Bigthan and Teresh, two of the king's eunuchs, the keepers of the door, who had sought to lay hands on King Akhshirash.

3 And the king said, What honor and dignity have been conferred upon Mordecai for this? Then the king's servants and his ministers said to him, There is nothing done for him.

4 And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outer court of the king's house to speak to the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.

5 So the king's servants said to him, Behold, Haman is standing in the court. And the king said, Let him come in.

6 So Haman came in. And the king said to him, What shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honor? Now Haman thought in his heart, Whom would the king delight to honor more than myself?

7 And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delights to honor,

8 Let the royal apparel be brought which the king wears and the horse that the king rides, and let the royal crown be set upon his head:

9 And let the apparel and the horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king's most noble princes, and let him array the man whom the king delights to honor and mount him on the horse and take him round through the streets of the city and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king de lights to honor.

10 Then the king said to Haman, Make haste and take the apparel and the horse, as you have said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king's gate; let nothing fail of all that you have spoken.

11 Then Haman took the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the streets of the city and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor.

12 And Mordecai came again to the king's gate. But Haman went to his house mourning and having his head covered.

13 And Haman told Zeresh his wife everything that had befallen him. Then his friends and Zeresh his wife said to him, If Mordecai is of the Jewish race, before whom you have begun to fall, you shall not prevail against him, but will surely again be humbled before him.

14 And while he was still talking with them, the king's couriers arrived and hastened to bring Haman to the banquet that Esther had pre pared.

3 And the king said, What honor and dignity have been conferred upon Mordecai for this? Then the king's servants and his ministers said to him, There is nothing done for him.

4 И сказал царь: кто на дворе? (Аман пришел тогда на внешний двор царского дома поговорить с царем, чтоб повесили Мардохея на дереве, которое он приготовил для него.)

4 And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outer court of the king's house to speak to the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.

5 И сказали ему слуги царевы: вот Аман стоит на дворе. И сказал царь: пусть войдет.

5 So the king's servants said to him, Behold, Haman is standing in the court. And the king said, Let him come in.

6 И вошел Аман. И сказал ему царь: что бы сделать с тем человеком, которого царь хочет отличить почестью? И подумал Аман в сердце своем: кому другому захочет царь оказать почесть, кроме меня?

6 So Haman came in. And the king said to him, What shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honor? Now Haman thought in his heart, Whom would the king delight to honor more than myself?

7 И сказал Аман царю: тому человеку, которого царь хочет отличить почестью,

7 And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delights to honor,

8 Пусть подадут царское одеяние, в которое одевается царь, и коня, на котором ездит царь, и пусть возложат царский венец на главу его.

9 Одеяние и коня пусть подадут в руки одному из первых князей царевых, и облекут того человека, которого царь хочет отличить почестью, и выведут его на коне на городскую площадь, и провозгласят пред ним: вот что делается тому человеку, которого царь хочет отличить почестью!

9 And let the apparel and the horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king's most noble princes, and let him array the man whom the king delights to honor and mount him on the horse and take him round through the streets of the city and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king de lights to honor.

10 И сказал царь Аману: возьми тотчас одеяние и коня, как ты сказал, и сделай это Мардохею Иудеянину, сидящему у царских ворот; ничего не опусти из всего того, что ты говорил.

10 Then the king said to Haman, Make haste and take the apparel and the horse, as you have said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king's gate; let nothing fail of all that you have spoken.

11 И взял Аман одеяние и коня, и облек Мардохея, и вывел его на коне на городскую площадь и провозгласил пред ним: вот, что делается тому человеку, которого царь хочет отличить почестью.

12 И возвратился Мардохей к царским воротам. А Аман побежал в дом свой, печальный, закрыв от стыда голову.

12 And Mordecai came again to the king's gate. But Haman went to his house mourning and having his head covered.

13 И пересказал Аман жене своей Зереши и всем друзьям своим все, что встретилось с ним. И сказали ему мудрецы его и жена его Зерешь: если Мардохей, пред которым ты начал унижаться, из племени Иудеев, то не пересилишь его, а наверно упадешь пред ним.

13 And Haman told Zeresh his wife everything that had befallen him. Then his friends and Zeresh his wife said to him, If Mordecai is of the Jewish race, before whom you have begun to fall, you shall not prevail against him, but will surely again be humbled before him.

14 Когда они еще разговаривали с ним, пришли евнухи царевы и торопили Амана итти на обед, который приготовила Есфирь.

14 And while he was still talking with them, the king's couriers arrived and hastened to bring Haman to the banquet that Esther had pre pared.
