1 Некогда Дина, дочь Лии, которую она родила Иакову, вышла посмотреть дочерей земли той.

2 Увидел ее Сихем, сын Эммора, Евеянина, князя земли той, и взял ее, и был с нею, и сделал ей насилие.

3 И прилепилась душа его к Дине, дочери Иаковлевой, и он полюбил девицу, и говорил по сердцу девицы.

4 И сказал Сихем Эммору, отцу своему, говоря: возьми мне эту девицу в жену.

5 Иаков слышал, что он обесчестил Дину, дочь его; но как сыновья его были со скотом его в поле, то Иаков молчал, пока не пришли они.

6 И пришел Эммор, отец Сихемов, к Иакову, поговорить с ним.

7 Сыновья же Иаковлевы, услышав, пришли с поля; и огорчились, и воспылал у них сильный гнев, потому что бесчестие сделал он Израилю, быв с дочерью Иакова; так не надлежало бы делать.

8 Эммор стал говорить им, и сказал: Сихем, сын мой, прилепился душею к дочери вашей; дайте ее в жену ему.

9 Породнитесь с нами; отдавайте за нас дочерей ваших, и наших дочерей берите себе.

10 С нами и живите, земля сия пред вами, живите на ней и производите на ней промысл, приобретайте ее во владение.

11 Сихем также сказал отцу ее и братьям ее: только бы мне обрести благоволение в очах ваших, я дам, что ни скажете мне.

12 Назначьте самое большое вено и дары, я дам, что ни скажете мне: только дайте мне девицу в жену.

13 И отвечали сыновья Иакова Сихему и Эммору, отцу его, с лукавством, за то, что он обесчестил Дину, сестру их, и говорили,

14 И сказали им: не можем того сделать, чтобы выдать сестру нашу за человека, который не обрезан; ибо это у нас бесчестно.

15 Впрочем, мы согласимся с вами на сем условии, если вы будете подобны нам в том, чтобы у вас весь мужеский пол был обрезан.

16 Тогда будем отдавать за вас дочерей наших, и брать за себя ваших дочерей, и будем жить с вами, и составим один народ.

17 А если не послушаетесь нас в том, чтобы обрезаться, то мы возьмем сестру свою, и удалимся.

18 И был Эммор доволен словами их, и Сихем, сын Эмморов, был доволен.

19 Юноша не умедлил исполнить сие; потому что любил дочь Иаковлеву. Притом же он более всех уважаем был в дому отца своего.

20 И пришел Эммор и сын его, Сихем, к воротам города своего, и стали говорить жителям города своего, и сказали:

21 Сии люди мирно живут с нами; пусть они селятся на земле, и производят на ней промыслы; земля же, видите, пространна во все стороны перед ними. Станем брать дочерей их себе в жены, и наших дочерей выдавать за них.

22 Только сии люди соглашаются жить с нами и быть одним народом на том условии, чтобы и у нас обрезан был весь мужеский пол, как они обрезаны.

23 Не нам ли достанутся стада их, и имение их, и весь скот их? Только согласимся с ними, чтобы они жили у нас.

24 И послушались Эммора и сына его, Сихема, все, выходящие из ворот города его; и всякий, выходящий из ворот города его, мужеского пола, был обрезан.

25 Но на третий день, когда они были в болезни, два сына Иакова, Симеон и Левий, братья Динины, взяли каждый свой меч, напали нечаянно на город, и перебили весь мужеский пол;

26 И самого Эммора и Сихема, сына его, убили острием меча; и взяли Дину из дома Сихемова, и вышли.

27 Сыновья Иакова пришли к убитым, и разграбили город, за то, что обесчестили сестру их.

28 Они взяли мелкий и крупный скот их, и ослов их, и что ни было в городе, и что ни было в поле.

29 И все богатство их, и всех детей их, и жен их взяли в плен, и разграбили, также и все, что было в домах.

30 И сказал Иаков Симеону и Левию: вы нарушили покой мой, сделав меня ненавистным между жителями сей земли, между Хананеями и Ферезеями. У меня людей мало; соберутся против меня, поразят меня, и истреблен буду я и дом мой.

31 Но они сказали: надлежало ли поступать с сестрою нашею, как с блудницею!

Chapter 34

1 And Dinah1783 the daughter1323 of Leah,3812 which834 she bore3205 to Jacob,3290 went3318 out to see7200 the daughters1323 of the land.776

2 And when Shechem7927 the son1121 of Hamor2544 the Hivite,2340 prince5387 of the country,776 saw7200 her, he took3947 her, and lay7901 with her, and defiled6031 her.

3 And his soul5315 joined1692 to Dinah1783 the daughter1323 of Jacob,3290 and he loved157 the damsel,5291 and spoke1696 kindly5921 3820 to the damsel.5291

4 And Shechem7927 spoke559 to his father1 Hamor,2544 saying,559 Get3947 me this2063 damsel3207 to wife.802

5 And Jacob3290 heard8085 that he had defiled2930 Dinah1783 his daughter:1323 now his sons1121 were with his cattle4735 in the field:7704 and Jacob3290 held2790 his peace2790 until5704 they were come.935

6 And Hamor2544 the father1 of Shechem7927 went3318 out to Jacob3290 to commune1696 with him.

7 And the sons1121 of Jacob3290 came935 out of the field7704 when they heard8085 it: and the men582 were grieved,6087 and they were very3966 wroth,2734 because3588 he had worked6213 folly5039 in Israel3478 in lying7901 with Jacob's3290 daughter:1323 which3651 thing3651 ought not to be done.6213

8 And Hamor2544 communed1696 with them, saying,559 The soul5315 of my son1121 Shechem7927 longs2836 for your daughter:1323 I pray4994 you give5414 her him to wife.802

9 And make you marriages2859 with us, and give5414 your daughters1323 to us, and take3947 our daughters1323 to you.

10 And you shall dwell3427 with us: and the land776 shall be before6440 you; dwell3427 and trade5503 you therein, and get you possessions270 therein.

11 And Shechem7927 said559 to her father1 and to her brothers,251 Let me find4672 grace2580 in your eyes,5869 and what834 you shall say559 to me I will give.5414

12 Ask me never so much3966 7235 dowry4119 and gift,4976 and I will give5414 according as you shall say559 to me: but give5414 me the damsel5291 to wife.802

13 And the sons1121 of Jacob3290 answered6030 Shechem7927 and Hamor2544 his father1 deceitfully,4820 and said,1696 because834 he had defiled2930 Dinah1783 their sister:269

14 And they said559 to them, We cannot3808 3201 do6213 this2088 thing,1697 to give5414 our sister269 to one376 that is uncircumcised;6190 for that were a reproach2781 to us:

15 But in this2063 will we consent225 to you: If518 you will be as we be, that every3605 male2145 of you be circumcised;4135

16 Then will we give5414 our daughters1323 to you, and we will take3947 your daughters1323 to us, and we will dwell3427 with you, and we will become1961 one259 people.5971

17 But if518 you will not listen8085 to us, to be circumcised;4135 then will we take3947 our daughter,1323 and we will be gone.1980

18 And their words1697 pleased3190 5869 Hamor,2544 and Shechem7927 Hamor's2544 son.1121

19 And the young5288 man deferred309 not to do6213 the thing,1697 because3588 he had delight2654 in Jacob's3290 daughter:1323 and he was more3513 honorable3513 than all3605 the house1004 of his father.1

20 And Hamor2544 and Shechem7927 his son1121 came935 to the gate8179 of their city,5892 and communed1696 with the men582 of their city,5892 saying,559

21 These428 men582 are peaceable8003 with us; therefore let them dwell3427 in the land,776 and trade5503 therein; for the land,776 behold,2009 it is large7342 enough3027 for them; let us take3947 their daughters1323 to us for wives,802 and let us give5414 them our daughters.1323

22 Only389 herein2063 will the men582 consent225 to us for to dwell3427 with us, to be one259 people,5971 if518 every3605 male2145 among us be circumcised,4135 as they are circumcised.4135

23 Shall not their cattle4735 and their substance7075 and every3605 beast929 of their's be our's? only389 let us consent225 to them, and they will dwell3427 with us.

24 And to Hamor2544 and to Shechem7927 his son1121 listened8085 all3605 that went3318 out of the gate8179 of his city;5892 and every3605 male2145 was circumcised,4135 all that went3318 out of the gate8179 of his city.5892

25 And it came1961 to pass on the third7992 day,3117 when they were sore,3510 that two8147 of the sons1121 of Jacob,3290 Simeon8095 and Levi,3878 Dinah's1783 brothers,251 took3947 each man376 his sword,2719 and came935 on the city5892 boldly,983 and slew2026 all3605 the males.2145

26 And they slew2026 Hamor2544 and Shechem7927 his son1121 with the edge6310 of the sword,2719 and took3947 Dinah1783 out of Shechem's7927 house,1004 and went3318 out.

27 The sons1121 of Jacob3290 came935 on the slain,2491 and spoiled962 the city,5892 because834 they had defiled2930 their sister.269

28 They took3947 their sheep,6629 and their oxen,1241 and their asses,2543 and that which834 was in the city,5892 and that which834 was in the field,7704

29 And all3605 their wealth,2428 and all3605 their little2945 ones, and their wives802 took they captive,7617 and spoiled962 even all3605 that was in the house.1004

30 And Jacob3290 said559 to Simeon8095 and Levi,3878 You have troubled5916 me to make me to stink887 among the inhabitants3427 of the land,776 among the Canaanites3669 and the Perizzites:6522 and I being few4962 in number,4557 they shall gather622 themselves together against5921 me, and slay5221 me; and I shall be destroyed,8045 I and my house.1004

31 And they said,559 Should he deal6213 with our sister269 as with an harlot?2181

5 Иаков слышал, что он обесчестил Дину, дочь его; но как сыновья его были со скотом его в поле, то Иаков молчал, пока не пришли они.

5 And Jacob3290 heard8085 that he had defiled2930 Dinah1783 his daughter:1323 now his sons1121 were with his cattle4735 in the field:7704 and Jacob3290 held2790 his peace2790 until5704 they were come.935

6 И пришел Эммор, отец Сихемов, к Иакову, поговорить с ним.

6 And Hamor2544 the father1 of Shechem7927 went3318 out to Jacob3290 to commune1696 with him.

7 Сыновья же Иаковлевы, услышав, пришли с поля; и огорчились, и воспылал у них сильный гнев, потому что бесчестие сделал он Израилю, быв с дочерью Иакова; так не надлежало бы делать.

7 And the sons1121 of Jacob3290 came935 out of the field7704 when they heard8085 it: and the men582 were grieved,6087 and they were very3966 wroth,2734 because3588 he had worked6213 folly5039 in Israel3478 in lying7901 with Jacob's3290 daughter:1323 which3651 thing3651 ought not to be done.6213

8 Эммор стал говорить им, и сказал: Сихем, сын мой, прилепился душею к дочери вашей; дайте ее в жену ему.

8 And Hamor2544 communed1696 with them, saying,559 The soul5315 of my son1121 Shechem7927 longs2836 for your daughter:1323 I pray4994 you give5414 her him to wife.802

9 Породнитесь с нами; отдавайте за нас дочерей ваших, и наших дочерей берите себе.

9 And make you marriages2859 with us, and give5414 your daughters1323 to us, and take3947 our daughters1323 to you.

10 С нами и живите, земля сия пред вами, живите на ней и производите на ней промысл, приобретайте ее во владение.

10 And you shall dwell3427 with us: and the land776 shall be before6440 you; dwell3427 and trade5503 you therein, and get you possessions270 therein.

11 Сихем также сказал отцу ее и братьям ее: только бы мне обрести благоволение в очах ваших, я дам, что ни скажете мне.

11 And Shechem7927 said559 to her father1 and to her brothers,251 Let me find4672 grace2580 in your eyes,5869 and what834 you shall say559 to me I will give.5414

12 Назначьте самое большое вено и дары, я дам, что ни скажете мне: только дайте мне девицу в жену.

12 Ask me never so much3966 7235 dowry4119 and gift,4976 and I will give5414 according as you shall say559 to me: but give5414 me the damsel5291 to wife.802

13 И отвечали сыновья Иакова Сихему и Эммору, отцу его, с лукавством, за то, что он обесчестил Дину, сестру их, и говорили,

13 And the sons1121 of Jacob3290 answered6030 Shechem7927 and Hamor2544 his father1 deceitfully,4820 and said,1696 because834 he had defiled2930 Dinah1783 their sister:269

14 И сказали им: не можем того сделать, чтобы выдать сестру нашу за человека, который не обрезан; ибо это у нас бесчестно.

14 And they said559 to them, We cannot3808 3201 do6213 this2088 thing,1697 to give5414 our sister269 to one376 that is uncircumcised;6190 for that were a reproach2781 to us:

15 Впрочем, мы согласимся с вами на сем условии, если вы будете подобны нам в том, чтобы у вас весь мужеский пол был обрезан.

15 But in this2063 will we consent225 to you: If518 you will be as we be, that every3605 male2145 of you be circumcised;4135

16 Тогда будем отдавать за вас дочерей наших, и брать за себя ваших дочерей, и будем жить с вами, и составим один народ.

16 Then will we give5414 our daughters1323 to you, and we will take3947 your daughters1323 to us, and we will dwell3427 with you, and we will become1961 one259 people.5971

17 А если не послушаетесь нас в том, чтобы обрезаться, то мы возьмем сестру свою, и удалимся.

17 But if518 you will not listen8085 to us, to be circumcised;4135 then will we take3947 our daughter,1323 and we will be gone.1980

18 И был Эммор доволен словами их, и Сихем, сын Эмморов, был доволен.

18 And their words1697 pleased3190 5869 Hamor,2544 and Shechem7927 Hamor's2544 son.1121

19 Юноша не умедлил исполнить сие; потому что любил дочь Иаковлеву. Притом же он более всех уважаем был в дому отца своего.

19 And the young5288 man deferred309 not to do6213 the thing,1697 because3588 he had delight2654 in Jacob's3290 daughter:1323 and he was more3513 honorable3513 than all3605 the house1004 of his father.1

20 И пришел Эммор и сын его, Сихем, к воротам города своего, и стали говорить жителям города своего, и сказали:

20 And Hamor2544 and Shechem7927 his son1121 came935 to the gate8179 of their city,5892 and communed1696 with the men582 of their city,5892 saying,559

22 Только сии люди соглашаются жить с нами и быть одним народом на том условии, чтобы и у нас обрезан был весь мужеский пол, как они обрезаны.

22 Only389 herein2063 will the men582 consent225 to us for to dwell3427 with us, to be one259 people,5971 if518 every3605 male2145 among us be circumcised,4135 as they are circumcised.4135

23 Не нам ли достанутся стада их, и имение их, и весь скот их? Только согласимся с ними, чтобы они жили у нас.

25 Но на третий день, когда они были в болезни, два сына Иакова, Симеон и Левий, братья Динины, взяли каждый свой меч, напали нечаянно на город, и перебили весь мужеский пол;

25 And it came1961 to pass on the third7992 day,3117 when they were sore,3510 that two8147 of the sons1121 of Jacob,3290 Simeon8095 and Levi,3878 Dinah's1783 brothers,251 took3947 each man376 his sword,2719 and came935 on the city5892 boldly,983 and slew2026 all3605 the males.2145

26 И самого Эммора и Сихема, сына его, убили острием меча; и взяли Дину из дома Сихемова, и вышли.

26 And they slew2026 Hamor2544 and Shechem7927 his son1121 with the edge6310 of the sword,2719 and took3947 Dinah1783 out of Shechem's7927 house,1004 and went3318 out.

27 Сыновья Иакова пришли к убитым, и разграбили город, за то, что обесчестили сестру их.

27 The sons1121 of Jacob3290 came935 on the slain,2491 and spoiled962 the city,5892 because834 they had defiled2930 their sister.269

28 Они взяли мелкий и крупный скот их, и ослов их, и что ни было в городе, и что ни было в поле.

28 They took3947 their sheep,6629 and their oxen,1241 and their asses,2543 and that which834 was in the city,5892 and that which834 was in the field,7704

29 И все богатство их, и всех детей их, и жен их взяли в плен, и разграбили, также и все, что было в домах.

29 And all3605 their wealth,2428 and all3605 their little2945 ones, and their wives802 took they captive,7617 and spoiled962 even all3605 that was in the house.1004

30 И сказал Иаков Симеону и Левию: вы нарушили покой мой, сделав меня ненавистным между жителями сей земли, между Хананеями и Ферезеями. У меня людей мало; соберутся против меня, поразят меня, и истреблен буду я и дом мой.
