1 В тот же самый день царь Ксеркс отдал царице Есфири поместье Амана, врага иудеев. А Мардохей предстал перед царём, потому что Есфирь рассказала, кем он ей приходится.

2 Царь снял свой перстень, который он забрал у Амана, и подарил его Мардохею. А Есфирь назначила его управляющим над поместьем Амана.

3 Есфирь вновь умоляла царя, припадая к его ногам и плача. Она молила его пресечь злой план агагитянина Амана, который тот замыслил против иудеев.

4 И царь протянул к Есфири золотой скипетр, и она поднялась и встала перед ним.

5 – Если царю угодно, – сказала она, – если я нашла у него расположение, если он думает, что это правильно, и если я ему нравлюсь, то пусть прикажут отозвать письма, сочинённые агагитянином Аманом, сыном Аммедаты, которые он написал, чтобы погубить иудеев во всех царских провинциях.

6 Как же я смогу безразлично смотреть на беду моего народа? Как я смогу смотреть на гибель моих сородичей?

7 Царь Ксеркс ответил царице Есфири и иудею Мардохею: – За то, что Аман преследовал иудеев, я отдал его поместье Есфири, а его самого повесили на виселице.

8 А вы напишите от царского имени другой указ, в пользу иудеев, как вам будет угодно, и скрепите его царским перстнем, потому что никакого письма, написанного от лица царя и скреплённого его перстнем, отменить нельзя.

9 И созваны были в то время – в двадцать третий день третьего месяца, месяца сивана (25 июня 474 г. до н. э.), – царские писари. Они записали все распоряжения Мардохея к иудеям, к сатрапам, наместникам и князьям ста двадцати семи провинций, простиравшихся от Индии до Эфиопии. Эти распоряжения были написаны письменами каждой провинции и на языке каждого народа, и для иудеев – их письменами и на их языке.

10 Мардохей написал от имени царя Ксеркса, скрепил письма царским перстнем и разослал их через конных гонцов, которые ездили на быстрых конях, специально выведенных для царя.

11 Царский указ давал иудеям всякого города право собираться и защищать себя: губить, уничтожать и искоренять всякое войско любого народа или провинции, которое нападёт на них, включая их женщин и детей, и расхищать имущество своих врагов.

12 Днём, назначенным для этого иудеям во всех провинциях царя Ксеркса, был тринадцатый день двенадцатого месяца, месяца адара (7 марта 473 г. до н. э.).

13 Копия текста указа должна была быть оглашена как закон в каждой провинции и объявлена во всеуслышание людям всякого народа, чтобы иудеи были готовы в тот день отомстить за себя своим врагам.

14 Гонцы, ездившие на царских конях, поспешили тронуться в путь, подгоняемые царским повелением. Указ же был оглашён и в крепости Сузы.

15 Мардохей ушёл от царя, облачённый в голубые и белые царские одежды, большой золотой венец и пурпурную мантию из тонкого льна. И в городе Сузы начался весёлый праздник.

16 Для иудеев это было время света и веселья, радости и чести.

17 В каждой провинции и в каждом городе, куда бы ни доходил царский указ, у иудеев было веселье и радость, пиршества и праздники. И многие из других народов приняли веру иудеев, потому что их объял страх перед ними.

2 And the king4428 took5493 off his ring,2885 which834 he had taken5674 from Haman,2001 and gave5414 it to Mordecai.4782 And Esther635 set7760 Mordecai4782 over5921 the house1004 of Haman.2001

3 And Esther635 spoke1696 yet again3254 before6440 the king,4428 and fell5307 down at6440 his feet,7272 and sought2603 him with tears1058 to put5674 away5674 the mischief7451 of Haman2001 the Agagite,91 and his device4284 that he had devised2803 against5921 the Jews.3064

4 Then the king4428 held3447 out the golden2091 scepter8275 toward Esther.635 So Esther635 arose,6965 and stood5975 before6440 the king,4428

5 And said,559 If518 it please2896 the king,4428 and if518 I have found4672 favor2580 in his sight,5869 and the thing1697 seem right3787 before6440 the king,4428 and I be pleasing2896 in his eyes,5869 let it be written3789 to reverse7725 the letters5612 devised4284 by Haman2001 the son1121 of Hammedatha4099 the Agagite,91 which834 he wrote3789 to destroy6 the Jews3064 which834 are in all3605 the king's4428 provinces:4082

6 For how349 can3201 I endure3201 to see7200 the evil7451 that shall come4672 to my people?5971 or how349 can3201 I endure3201 to see7200 the destruction13 of my kindred?4138

7 Then the king4428 Ahasuerus325 said559 to Esther635 the queen4436 and to Mordecai4782 the Jew,3064 Behold,2009 I have given5414 Esther635 the house1004 of Haman,2001 and him they have hanged8518 on the gallows,6086 because5921 834 he laid7971 his hand3027 on the Jews.3064

8 Write3789 you also for the Jews,3064 as it likes2896 you, in the king's4428 name,8034 and seal2856 it with the king's4428 ring:2885 for the writing3791 which834 is written3789 in the king's4428 name,8034 and sealed2856 with the king's4428 ring,2885 may no369 man reverse.7725

9 Then were the king's4428 scribes5608 called7121 at that time6256 in the third7992 month,2320 that is, the month2320 Sivan,5510 on the three7969 and twentieth6242 day thereof; and it was written3789 according to all3605 that Mordecai4782 commanded6680 to the Jews,3064 and to the lieutenants,323 and the deputies6346 and rulers8269 of the provinces4082 which834 are from India1912 to Ethiopia,3568 an hundred3967 twenty6242 and seven7651 provinces,4082 to every province4082 according to the writing3791 thereof, and to every people5971 after their language,3956 and to the Jews3064 according to their writing,3791 and according to their language.3956

10 And he wrote3789 in the king4428 Ahasuerus'325 name,8034 and sealed2856 it with the king's4428 ring,2885 and sent7971 letters5612 by posts7323 on horseback,5483 and riders7392 on mules,7409 camels,327 and young1121 dromedaries:7424

11 Wherein834 the king4428 granted5414 the Jews3064 which834 were in every3605 city5892 to gather6950 themselves together, and to stand5975 for their life,5315 to destroy,8045 to slay 2026and to cause to perish,6 all3605 the power2428 of the people5971 and province4082 that would assault6696 them, both little2945 ones and women,802 and to take the spoil7998 of them for a prey,962

12 On one259 day3117 in all3605 the provinces4082 of king4428 Ahasuerus,325 namely, on the thirteenth7969 6240 day of the twelfth8147 6240 month,2320 which1931 is the month2320 Adar.143

13 The copy6572 of the writing3791 for a commandment1881 to be given5414 in every3605 province4082 was published1540 to all3605 people,5971 and that the Jews3064 should be ready6264 against that day3117 to avenge5358 themselves on their enemies.341

14 So the posts7323 that rode7392 on mules7409 and camels327 went3318 out, being hastened926 and pressed1765 on by the king's4428 commandment.1697 And the decree1881 was given5414 at Shushan7800 the palace.1002

15 And Mordecai4782 went3318 out from the presence6440 of the king4428 in royal4438 apparel3830 of blue8504 and white,2353 and with a great1419 crown5850 of gold,2091 and with a garment8509 of fine linen948 and purple:713 and the city5892 of Shushan7800 rejoiced6670 and was glad.8056

16 The Jews3064 had light,219 and gladness,8057 and joy,8342 and honor.3366

17 And in every3605 province,4082 and in every3605 city,5892 wherever4725 834 the king's4428 commandment1697 and his decree1881 came,5060 the Jews3064 had joy8057 and gladness,8342 a feast4960 and a good2896 day.3117 And many7227 of the people5971 of the land776 became3054 Jews;3054 for the fear6343 of the Jews3064 fell5307 on them.

7 Царь Ксеркс ответил царице Есфири и иудею Мардохею: – За то, что Аман преследовал иудеев, я отдал его поместье Есфири, а его самого повесили на виселице.

9 И созваны были в то время – в двадцать третий день третьего месяца, месяца сивана (25 июня 474 г. до н. э.), – царские писари.
