Глава 10

1 У Ахава в Самарии было семьдесят сыновей. Иегу написал и отправил в Самарию письма к городской знати, старейшинам и воспитателям потомков Ахава, где говорилось:

2 «Как только дойдет до вас это письмо — а при вас сыновья вашего владыки, при вас колесницы и кони, городские укрепления и оружие, —

3 выберите самого лучшего и достойного из сыновей вашего владыки, посадите его на отеческий престол и сражайтесь за род вашего владыки!»

4 Но тех охватил страх: «Два царя не устояли перед ним — как же устоим мы?»

5 Тогда дворцовый управляющий, градоначальник, старейшины и воспитатели послали Иегу ответ: «Мы твои слуги — всё, что скажешь нам, исполним! Никого мы не поставим в цари, а ты поступай, как сочтешь нужным».

6 Иегу написал им второе письмо, где говорилось: «Если вы на моей стороне и мне повинуетесь, отрубите головы сыновьям своего владыки и приходите с ними ко мне в Изреэль завтра в это же время!» Царских сыновей было семьдесят, их воспитывали самые именитые люди города.

7 Получив это письмо, они схватили царских сыновей, зарезали всех до единого, отрубленные их головы сложили в корзины и отправили к Иегу в Изреэль.

8 Явившись к Иегу, гонец сообщил: «Тебе принесли головы царских сыновей». «Сложите их в две груды у городских ворот, пусть лежат до утра», — ответил тот.

9 Утром он вышел из дома, встал возле голов и объявил всему народу: «Вы ни в чем не виноваты, это я составил заговор против своего владыки и убил его. Но кто перебил всех этих?

10 Знайте, что не пропадет впустую ни одно слово ГОСПОДНЕ. Что предрек ГОСПОДЬ роду Ахава, то и совершил ГОСПОДЬ по слову, переданному через слугу Его Илию».

11 Иегу перебил всех, кто из рода Ахава оставался в Изреэле: и всю его знать, и приближенных, и священников — никого он не пощадил.

12 Затем Иегу отправился в Самарию. По дороге он проходил мимо пастушьего Бет-Экеда

13 и встретил там братьев Охозии, царя иудейского. «Кто вы?» — спросил он. Те ответили: «Мы — братья Охозии, идем справиться о благополучии сыновей царя и сыновей царицы-матери».

14 Иегу велел взять их живыми, их схватили и зарезали, бросив тела в колодец Бет-Экеда; их было сорок два человека — никого он не пощадил.

15 Иегу отправился дальше и встретил Ехонадава, сына Рехава. Он приветствовал его и спросил: «Предано ли мне твое сердце, как мое сердце предано тебе?» «Да!» — отвечал Ехонадав. «Если да, то дай руку!» — тот протянул руку, и Иегу поднял его к себе на колесницу

16 и сказал: «Поедем со мной — и увидишь, как ревностен я ради ГОСПОДА». Ехонадав поехал в колеснице вместе с Иегу.

17 Иегу прибыл в Самарию и перебил тех, кто из рода Ахава оставался в Самарии, пока не уничтожил всех, по слову ГОСПОДА, которое Тот изрек Илии.

18 Затем Иегу собрал весь народ и сказал: «Мало Ахав служил Ваалу, Иегу послужит ему больше!

19 Созовите ко мне всех пророков Ваала, всех его служителей и жрецов, никого не упустите — у меня будет великое жертвоприношение Ваалу! А кто не придет — тому не жить». (Так говорил Иегу с умыслом, решив уничтожить почитателей Ваала.)

20 Он велел объявить священный праздник в честь Ваала, и праздник объявили.

21 Иегу разослал гонцов по всему Израилю, и явились все почитатели Ваала, не осталось никого, кто бы не пришел. Они собрались в капище Ваала, так что оно заполнилось от края до края.

22 Иегу велел хранителю одежд принести одеяния для всех служителей Ваала, и тот вынес им одеяния.

23 Тогда Иегу и Ехонадав, сын Рехава, вошли в капище Ваала и потребовали у его служителей: «Посмотрите и убедитесь, что среди вас нет служителей ГОСПОДА, здесь место только служителям Ваала!»

24 Приступили они к жертвам и всесожжениям. А снаружи Иегу поставил восемьдесят воинов, наказав им: «Отдаю их вам, и если хоть один из них сбежит, то виновный заплатит собственной жизнью».

25 Завершив всесожжение, Иегу приказал своей страже и военачальникам: «Войдите и перебейте всех, чтобы никто не уцелел!» Стража и военачальники перебили их мечом и выбросили трупы наружу, а потом вошли в святилище Ваала.

26 Они вынесли наружу священные камни капища Ваала и бросили их в огонь.

27 Они свалили главный камень Ваала и разрушили его святилище. Взамен там устроили отхожее место, оно остается там и поныне.

28 Так Иегу расправился с Ваалом в Израиле.

29 Но Иегу так и не покончил с грехами Иеровоама, сына Невата, в которые тот вовлек Израиль, — с золотыми тельцами в Бет-Эле и в Дане.

30 ГОСПОДЬ сказал Иегу: «За то, что ты осуществил всё то, что в Моих глазах было правильным, и исполнил Мой замысел о роде Ахава, — за это потомки твои до четвертого колена будут сидеть на престоле израильском».

31 Но Иегу не стремился всем сердцем следовать закону ГОСПОДА, Бога Израилева, он так и не покончил с грехами Иеровоама, в которые тот вовлек Израиль.

32 В те дни начал ГОСПОДЬ урезать владения Израиля. Хазаэль наносил израильтянам поражения по всем их землям

33 к востоку от Иордана: захватил весь Гилад, земли Гада, Рувима и Манассии от Ароэра, что у потока Арнон, и Гилад, и Башан.

34 Прочее о делах Иегу, которые он совершил, и о могуществе его записано в летописи царей израильских.

35 Иегу отошел к праотцам, и его похоронили в Самарии. После него воцарился его сын Иоахаз.

2 Kings

Chapter 10

1 AND Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And they were brought up by the nobles of the city. And Jehu wrote a letter and sent it to Samaria, to the princes of Jezreel, to the elders, and to those who brought up Ahab's children, saying,

2 Now as soon as this letter reaches you, seeing your master's sons are with you and there are with you chariots and horses, fortified cities also, and weapons;

3 Whichever seems to you good and best of your master's sons, set him on his father's throne and fight for your master's house.

4 But when they heard the letter, they were exceedingly afraid and said, Behold, two kings could not stand before Jehu; how then shall we stand before him?

5 So the overseer of the royal household, the governor of the city, the elders, and those who brought up the children, sent to Jehu, saying, We are your servants and will do all that you shall bid us; we will not make any man king over us; do whatever is good in your eyes.

6 Then he wrote to them a second letter, saying, If you are mine, and if you will hearken to my voice, then take the heads of your master's sons and bring them to me to Jezreel by this time tomorrow. Now the king's sons were seventy persons, and the nobles of the city brought them up.

7 And as soon as the letter reached them, they took the king's sons and slew them, seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets and sent them to him in Jezreel.

8 And there came a messenger, and told him, saying, They have brought the heads of the king's sons. And he said, Lay them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until morning.

9 And in the morning, he went out and said to all the people, You are righteous; I conspired against my master and slew him; but who slew all these?

10 Know now that there shall fall to the earth nothing of the word of the LORD, of all which the LORD spoke concerning the house of Ahab; for the LORD has done that which he spoke by his servant Elijah.

11 So Jehu slew all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men and his kinsfolks and his priests, until he left him none remaining.

12 And he arose and departed and came to Samaria. And on the way he destroyed the houses of idols.

13 Then Jehu met with the brothers of Ahaziah king of Judah and said to them, Who are you? And they answered, We are the brothers of Ahaziah; and we have come down to salute the sons of the king and the sons of the queen.

14 And he said, Take them alive. And they took them alive and slew them and threw them into the pit of Beth-akar, forty-two persons; and he left none of them.

15 And when he was departed from there, he found Jonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him; and he blessed him, and said to him, Is your heart right, as my heart is with your heart? And Jonadab answered, It is, it is. And he said to him, Give me your hand. And he gave him his hand; and he took him up with him into the chariot.

16 And he said to him, Come with me and see my zeal for the LORD. So he made him ride in his chariot.

17 And when he came to Samaria, he slew all that remained to the house of Ahab in Samaria, till he had destroyed them, according to the saying of the LORD which he spoke to Elijah.

18 Then Jehu gathered all the people together and said to them, Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu shall serve him much.

19 Now therefore invite to come to me all the prophets of Baal, all his priests, and all who serve him; let none be missing; for I have a great sacrifice to make to Baal; whoever is missing, he shall not live. But Jehu did it deceitfully, with the intent to destroy the worshippers of Baal.

20 And Jehu said, Invite all the assembly to come to Baal. And they invited them.

21 And Jehu sent through all Israel; and all the worshippers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left who did not come. And they came into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was full from one end to the other.

22 And he said to him who was over the vestry, Bring out vestments for all the worshippers of Baal. And he brought them forth vestments.

23 Then Jehu and Jonadab, the son of Rechab, went into the house of Baal and said to the worshippers of Baal, Search, and see that there be here with you none of the servants of the LORD, but the worshippers of Baal only.

24 And when they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings, Jehu had posted three hundred and eighty men outside by the door, and said, If any of the men whom I have delivered into your hands escape, his life shall be for the life of him.

25 And as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offerings, Jehu said to the guards and to the mighty men, Go in and slay them; let none of them come forth. And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the guards and the mighty men cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal.

26 And they brought forth the statue of Baal out of the house of Baal and burned it with fire.

27 And they broke down the image of Baal and demolished the house of Baal and made it a public toilet-room to this day.

28 Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.

29 But as for the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, Jehu did not depart from them, especially the worship of the golden calves that were in Beth-el and in Dan.

30 And the LORD said to Jehu, Because you have done well in my sight, and have done to the house of Ahab according to all that was in my heart, your sons even to the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.

31 But Jehu did not try to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart; and he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin.

32 In those days the LORD began to bring distress in Israel; and Hazael smote them in all the territory of Israel,

33 From the Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead and of Gad and of Reuben and of Manasseh, from Adoer, which is by the river Arnon, even Gilead and Mathnin.

34 Now the rest of the acts of Jehu and all that he did and all his might, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.

35 And Jehu slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria. And Jehoahaz his son reigned in his stead.

36 And the time that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty-eight years.

4 Но тех охватил страх: «Два царя не устояли перед ним — как же устоим мы?»

4 But when they heard the letter, they were exceedingly afraid and said, Behold, two kings could not stand before Jehu; how then shall we stand before him?

5 Тогда дворцовый управляющий, градоначальник, старейшины и воспитатели послали Иегу ответ: «Мы твои слуги — всё, что скажешь нам, исполним! Никого мы не поставим в цари, а ты поступай, как сочтешь нужным».

5 So the overseer of the royal household, the governor of the city, the elders, and those who brought up the children, sent to Jehu, saying, We are your servants and will do all that you shall bid us; we will not make any man king over us; do whatever is good in your eyes.

7 And as soon as the letter reached them, they took the king's sons and slew them, seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets and sent them to him in Jezreel.

8 Явившись к Иегу, гонец сообщил: «Тебе принесли головы царских сыновей». «Сложите их в две груды у городских ворот, пусть лежат до утра», — ответил тот.

8 And there came a messenger, and told him, saying, They have brought the heads of the king's sons. And he said, Lay them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until morning.

9 Утром он вышел из дома, встал возле голов и объявил всему народу: «Вы ни в чем не виноваты, это я составил заговор против своего владыки и убил его. Но кто перебил всех этих?

9 And in the morning, he went out and said to all the people, You are righteous; I conspired against my master and slew him; but who slew all these?

10 Знайте, что не пропадет впустую ни одно слово ГОСПОДНЕ. Что предрек ГОСПОДЬ роду Ахава, то и совершил ГОСПОДЬ по слову, переданному через слугу Его Илию».

10 Know now that there shall fall to the earth nothing of the word of the LORD, of all which the LORD spoke concerning the house of Ahab; for the LORD has done that which he spoke by his servant Elijah.

11 Иегу перебил всех, кто из рода Ахава оставался в Изреэле: и всю его знать, и приближенных, и священников — никого он не пощадил.

11 So Jehu slew all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men and his kinsfolks and his priests, until he left him none remaining.

12 And he arose and departed and came to Samaria. And on the way he destroyed the houses of idols.

15 And when he was departed from there, he found Jonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him; and he blessed him, and said to him, Is your heart right, as my heart is with your heart? And Jonadab answered, It is, it is. And he said to him, Give me your hand. And he gave him his hand; and he took him up with him into the chariot.

16 And he said to him, Come with me and see my zeal for the LORD. So he made him ride in his chariot.

17 Иегу прибыл в Самарию и перебил тех, кто из рода Ахава оставался в Самарии, пока не уничтожил всех, по слову ГОСПОДА, которое Тот изрек Илии.

17 And when he came to Samaria, he slew all that remained to the house of Ahab in Samaria, till he had destroyed them, according to the saying of the LORD which he spoke to Elijah.

18 Then Jehu gathered all the people together and said to them, Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu shall serve him much.

24 Приступили они к жертвам и всесожжениям. А снаружи Иегу поставил восемьдесят воинов, наказав им: «Отдаю их вам, и если хоть один из них сбежит, то виновный заплатит собственной жизнью».

25 Завершив всесожжение, Иегу приказал своей страже и военачальникам: «Войдите и перебейте всех, чтобы никто не уцелел!» Стража и военачальники перебили их мечом и выбросили трупы наружу, а потом вошли в святилище Ваала.

25 And as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offerings, Jehu said to the guards and to the mighty men, Go in and slay them; let none of them come forth. 30 ГОСПОДЬ сказал Иегу: «За то, что ты осуществил всё то, что в Моих глазах было правильным, и исполнил Мой замысел о роде Ахава, — за это потомки твои до четвертого колена будут сидеть на престоле израильском».

30 And the LORD said to Jehu, Because you have done well in my sight, and have done to the house of Ahab according to all that was in my heart, your sons even to the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.

31 Но Иегу не стремился всем сердцем следовать закону ГОСПОДА, Бога Израилева, он так и не покончил с грехами Иеровоама, в которые тот вовлек Израиль.
