Глава 22

1 Из Гата Давид бежал в пещеру Адуллам. Услышав об этом, все его братья и весь отчий род присоединились к нему.

2 К нему собирались все обездоленные, все, кто не мог выплатить долга, все, кому приходилось горько. Он стал их предводителем, и было с ним около четырехсот человек.

3 Оттуда Давид отправился в Мицпу, что в Моаве, и сказал царю моавскому: «Прошу тебя, пусть мои отец и мать побудут у тебя, покуда я не узнаю, что мне уготовано Богом».

4 Он отвел их к царю Моава, и они оставались у него всё время, пока Давид прятался в горах.

5 Но пророк Гад сказал Давиду: «Хватит прятаться в горах, возвращайся в Иудею!» И Давид отправился в лес Херет.

6 Тем временем Саул услышал о том, что объявился Давид и его люди. Саул сидел тогда под тамариском на холме в Гиве, в руке у него было копье, а перед ним стояли все его слуги.

7 И сказал Саул слугам, стоявшим перед ним: «Послушайте, вениаминитяне! Разве сын Иессея даст вам всем поля и виноградники, разве поставит всех вас начальниками над тысячами и сотнями воинов?

8 Неужели в надежде на это вы все сговорились против меня? И никто из вас не открыл мне, что мой сын заключил союз с сыном Иессея, никто не посочувствовал, не предупредил, что сын подстрекает слугу моего устроить засаду на меня, как это произошло теперь!»

9 Доэг-эдомитянин, что стоял среди слуг Сауловых, ответил: «Я видел, как сын Иессея приходил в Нове к Ахимелеху, сыну Ахитува.

10 Тот вопрошал о нем ГОСПОДА, снабдил его хлебом и отдал ему меч филистимлянина Голиафа».

11 Тогда царь послал за священником Ахимелехом, сыном Ахитува, и за всеми людьми из рода отца его, что были священниками в Нове. Все они явились к царю.

12 Царь обратился к Ахимелеху: «Послушай, сын Ахитува!» «Да, владыка мой», — отозвался тот.

13 «Зачем вы сговорились против меня, — спросил его Саул, — ты и сын Иессея? Ты вопрошал для него Бога, снабдил его хлебом и мечом — а теперь он восстал против меня и подстерегает меня в засаде».

14 Отвечал Ахимелех царю: «Кто из всех твоих слуг сравнится с Давидом? Он верен тебе, он зять царя, он начальствует над твоей стражей, его почитают в твоем доме.

15 Разве только теперь начал я вопрошать для него Бога? Нет, царь, не вини ни в чем ни слугу твоего, ни весь род моего отца, потому что слуга твой ничего об этом не знал, даже самой малости».

16 Царь на это ответил: «Ты умрешь, Ахимелех, ты и весь род твоего отца».

17 И приказал царь стражникам, стоявшим рядом с ним: «Идите и перебейте этих священников ГОСПОДНИХ, потому что они тоже на стороне Давида: они знали, что он бежал, но не открыли мне». Но слуги царя не смели поднять руку на священников ГОСПОДНИХ.

18 Тогда царь велел Доэгу: «Иди и перебей священников!» Доэг-эдомитянин исполнил волю царя: пошел и убил в тот день восемьдесят пять человек, носивших льняной эфод.

19 А потом и в Нове, городе священников, он всех перебил мечом: мужчин и женщин, детей и младенцев, волов, ослов и овец.

20 Спасся только один сын Ахимелеха, внук Ахитува, по имени Авьятар, который бежал к Давиду.

21 Авьятар рассказал ему, что Саул убил священников ГОСПОДНИХ.

22 Давид ответил Авьятару: «Знал я, что был там в тот день Доэг-эдомитянин, и понял, что он непременно донесет Саулу. Это я навлек гибель на весь род твоего отца!

23 Оставайся со мной, не бойся: кто ищет моей смерти, тот ищет и твоей, так что у меня ты в безопасности».

Chapter 22

1 DAVID therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave of Arlam; and when his brothers and all his father's household heard it, they went down there to him.

2 And there gathered to him every man who was in distress and every man who was in debt and every man who was discontented, and he became chief over them; and there were with him about four hundred men.

3 And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother dwell with you, till I know what God will do with me.

4 And he left them with the king of Moab; and they dwelt with him all the time that David was in Mizpeh.

5 And the prophet Gad said to David, Do not abide in Mizpeh; depart and go into the land of Judah. Then David departed and came into the forest of Hiziuth.

6 And when Saul heard that David was located, and the men who were with him (now Saul was staying in Gibeah under the almond tree in Ramtha, with his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him);

7 Then Saul said to his servants who stood about him, Hear now, you Benjamites, will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, and make you all commanders of thousands and captains of hundreds;

8 And have all of you conspired against me, so that there is none to tell me about the covenant of my son with the son of Jesse; and is there none that discloses to me that my son has made a league with the son of Jesse, and is there none of you who is sorry for me, or discloses to me that my son has stirred up my servants against me to lie in wait as at this day?

9 Then answered Doeg the Edomite, who was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw David when he came to Noh, to Ahimeleck, the son of Ahitub the priest.

10 And he inquired of God for him and gave him weapons and provisions and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.

11 Then the king summoned Ahimeleck the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father's house, the priests that were in Noh; and all of them came to the king.

12 And Saul said, Hear now, I beseech you, son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.

13 Then Saul said to him, Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, in that you have given him bread and a sword, and have inquired of God for him, that he should rise against me to lie in wait as at this day?

14 And Ahimeleck the priest answered the king and said, And who among all your servants is so faithful as David, who is the king's son-in-law, and heeds your commands and is honored in your house?

15 Did I begin today to inquire of God for him? Far be it from me; let not the king impute anything to his servant, nor to all the house of my father; for your servant knew nothing of all this matter, less or more.

16 And the king said, You shall surely die, Ahimeleck, you and all your father's house.

17 Then the king said to the guards who stood about him. Turn, and slay the priests of God; because their hand also is with David and because they knew that he fled, and did not reveal it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hands and harm the priests of God.

18 And the king said to Doeg, Turn and fall upon the priests. And Doeg fell upon the priests and slew on that day eighty-five persons who wore the linen ephod.

19 And Noh, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, young men and children and oxen and asses and sheep, with the edge of the sword.

20 But one of the sons of Ahimeleck, the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David.

21 And Abiathar told David that Saul had slain the priests of God.

22 And David said to Abiathar, I knew it that day when Doeg the Edomite was there that he would surely tell Saul; I myself am guilty for the death of all the persons of your father's house.

23 Abide with me; fear not; for he that seeks my life seeks your life also, but with me you shall be protected.

3 And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother dwell with you, till I know what God will do with me.

4 Он отвел их к царю Моава, и они оставались у него всё время, пока Давид прятался в горах.

4 And he left them with the king of Moab; and they dwelt with him all the time that David was in Mizpeh.

5 Но пророк Гад сказал Давиду: «Хватит прятаться в горах, возвращайся в Иудею!» И Давид отправился в лес Херет.

5 And the prophet Gad said to David, Do not abide in Mizpeh; depart and go into the land of Judah. Then David departed and came into the forest of Hiziuth.

6 Тем временем Саул услышал о том, что объявился Давид и его люди. Саул сидел тогда под тамариском на холме в Гиве, в руке у него было копье, а перед ним стояли все его слуги.

6 And when Saul heard that David was located, and the men who were with him (now Saul was staying in Gibeah under the almond tree in Ramtha, with his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him);

8 And have all of you conspired against me, so that there is none to tell me about the covenant of my son with the son of Jesse; and is there none that discloses to me that my son has made a league with the son of Jesse, and is there none of you who is sorry for me, or discloses to me that my son has stirred up my servants against me to lie in wait as at this day?

9 Доэг-эдомитянин, что стоял среди слуг Сауловых, ответил: «Я видел, как сын Иессея приходил в Нове к Ахимелеху, сыну Ахитува.

9 Then answered Doeg the Edomite, who was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw David when he came to Noh, to Ahimeleck, the son of Ahitub the priest.

10 Тот вопрошал о нем ГОСПОДА, снабдил его хлебом и отдал ему меч филистимлянина Голиафа».

10 And he inquired of God for him and gave him weapons and provisions and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.

11 Тогда царь послал за священником Ахимелехом, сыном Ахитува, и за всеми людьми из рода отца его, что были священниками в Нове. Все они явились к царю.

11 Then the king summoned Ahimeleck the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father's house, the priests that were in Noh; and all of them came to the king.

12 Царь обратился к Ахимелеху: «Послушай, сын Ахитува!» «Да, владыка мой», — отозвался тот.

12 And Saul said, Hear now, I beseech you, son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.

13 «Зачем вы сговорились против меня, — спросил его Саул, — ты и сын Иессея? Ты вопрошал для него Бога, снабдил его хлебом и мечом — а теперь он восстал против меня и подстерегает меня в засаде».

13 Then Saul said to him, Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, in that you have given him bread and a sword, and have inquired of God for him, that he should rise against me to lie in wait as at this day?

14 Отвечал Ахимелех царю: «Кто из всех твоих слуг сравнится с Давидом? Он верен тебе, он зять царя, он начальствует над твоей стражей, его почитают в твоем доме.

14 And Ahimeleck the priest answered the king and said, And who among all your servants is so faithful as David, who is the king's son-in-law, and heeds your commands and is honored in your house?

15 Разве только теперь начал я вопрошать для него Бога? Нет, царь, не вини ни в чем ни слугу твоего, ни весь род моего отца, потому что слуга твой ничего об этом не знал, даже самой малости».

15 Did I begin today to inquire of God for him? Far be it from me; let not the king impute anything to his servant, nor to all the house of my father; for your servant knew nothing of all this matter, less or more.

16 Царь на это ответил: «Ты умрешь, Ахимелех, ты и весь род твоего отца».

16 And the king said, You shall surely die, Ahimeleck, you and all your father's house.

17 И приказал царь стражникам, стоявшим рядом с ним: «Идите и перебейте этих священников ГОСПОДНИХ, потому что они тоже на стороне Давида: они знали, что он бежал, но не открыли мне». Но слуги царя не смели поднять руку на священников ГОСПОДНИХ.

17 Then the king said to the guards who stood about him. Turn, and slay the priests of God; because their hand also is with David and because they knew that he fled, and did not reveal it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hands and harm the priests of God.

18 Тогда царь велел Доэгу: «Иди и перебей священников!» Доэг-эдомитянин исполнил волю царя: пошел и убил в тот день восемьдесят пять человек, носивших льняной эфод.

18 And the king said to Doeg, Turn and fall upon the priests. And Doeg fell upon the priests and slew on that day eighty-five persons who wore the linen ephod.

19 А потом и в Нове, городе священников, он всех перебил мечом: мужчин и женщин, детей и младенцев, волов, ослов и овец.

19 And Noh, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, young men and children and oxen and asses and sheep, with the edge of the sword.

20 Спасся только один сын Ахимелеха, внук Ахитува, по имени Авьятар, который бежал к Давиду.

20 But one of the sons of Ahimeleck, the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David.

21 Авьятар рассказал ему, что Саул убил священников ГОСПОДНИХ.

21 And Abiathar told David that Saul had slain the priests of God.

22 Давид ответил Авьятару: «Знал я, что был там в тот день Доэг-эдомитянин, и понял, что он непременно донесет Саулу. Это я навлек гибель на весь род твоего отца!

22 And David said to Abiathar, I knew it that day when Doeg the Edomite was there that he would surely tell Saul; I myself am guilty for the death of all the persons of your father's house.

23 Оставайся со мной, не бойся: кто ищет моей смерти, тот ищет и твоей, так что у меня ты в безопасности».

23 Abide with me; fear not; for he that seeks my life seeks your life also, but with me you shall be protected.
