Chapter 16

1 IN the thirty-sixth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah and built Ramtha, that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

2 Then Asa brought silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of the LORD and of the king's house, and sent them to Bar-hadad king of Aram, who dwelt in Damascus, saying,

3 There is a league between me and you, as there was between my father and your father; behold, I have sent you silver and gold; go, break your league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may withdraw from me.

4 And Bar-hadad hearkened to King Asa, and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they came and encamped against the cities of Israel; and they took Ijon, Abel, and Beth-maacah, and all the store cities of Naphtali.

5 Then when Baasha heard of it, he stopped building Ramtha, and let his work cease.

6 Then Asa the king gathered together all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramtha and its timber with which Baasha was building; and King Asa built with them Ramtha of Benjamin and the town of Mizpah.

7 And at that time Hanan the prophet came to Asa king of Judah and said to him, Because you have relied on the king of Aram and not relied on the LORD your God, therefore the army of Aram will flee.

8 And they will go and become strong, both they and the Ethiopians and the kings that are with them, and will become great armies with very many chariots and horsemen, but when you seek the LORD your God, he will deliver them into your hands.

9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth; therefore, be strong, and let your heart be perfect towards his worship, and understand all his wonders; for the LORD your God will fight for you.

10 Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in prison because he reported things which he did not see and made the heart of the people tremble; therefore Asa kept himself aloof from the people at that time.

11 And, behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, lo, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.

12 And Asa was diseased in his feet in the thirty-ninth year of his reign, and was laid in his house.

13 And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the forty-first year of his reign.

14 And they buried him in his own sepulchre in the city of David, and they laid him on a bier which was filled with many kinds of spices, and they made a very great burnt offering for him.

2 И вынес3318 Аса609 серебро3701 и золото2091 из сокровищниц214 дома1004 Господня3068 и дома1004 царского4428 и послал7971 к Венададу,1130 царю4428 Сирийскому,758 жившему3427 в Дамаске,1834 говоря:559

3 союз1285 да будет между мною и тобою, как был между отцом1 моим и отцом1 твоим; вот, я посылаю7971 тебе серебра3701 и золота:2091 пойди,3212 расторгни6565 союз1285 твой с Ваасою,1201 царем4428 Израильским,3478 чтоб он отступил5927 от меня.

4 И послушался8085 Венадад1130 царя4428 Асы609 и послал7971 военачальников,82692428 которые были у него, против городов5892 Израильских,3478 и они опустошили5221 Ийон5859 и Дан1835 и Авелмаим66 и все запасы4543 в городах5892 Неффалимовых.5321

5 И когда услышал8085 о сем Вааса,1201 то перестал2308 строить1129 Раму7414 и прекратил7673 работу4399 свою.

6 Аса609 же царь4428 собрал3947 всех Иудеев,3063 и они вывезли5375 из Рамы7414 камни68 и дерева,6086 которые употреблял1129 Вааса1201 для строения,1129 — и выстроил1129 из них Геву1387 и Мицфу.4709

7 В то время6256 пришел935 Ананий2607 прозорливец7200 к Асе,609 царю4428 Иудейскому,3063 и сказал559 ему: так как ты понадеялся8172 на царя4428 Сирийского758 и не уповал8172 на Господа3068 Бога430 твоего, потому и спаслось4422 войско2428 царя4428 Сирийского758 от руки3027 твоей.

8 Не были ли Ефиопляне3569 и Ливияне3864 с силою2428 большею7230 и с колесницами7393 и всадниками6571 весьма3966 многочисленными?7235 Но как ты уповал8172 на Господа,3068 то Он предал5414 их в руку3027 твою,

9 ибо очи5869 Господа3068 обозревают7751 всю землю,776 чтобы поддерживать2388 тех, чье сердце3824 вполне8003 предано8003 Ему. Безрассудно5528 ты поступил5528 теперь. За то отныне6258 будут3426 у тебя войны.4421

10 И разгневался3707 Аса609 на прозорливца,7200 и заключил5414 его в темницу,41151004 так как за это был в раздражении2197 на него; притеснял7533 Аса609 и некоторых из народа5971 в то время.6256

12 И сделался2456 Аса609 болен2456 ногами7272 на тридцать7970 девятом8672 году8141 царствования4438 своего, и болезнь2483 его поднялась до верхних4605 частей4605 тела; но он в болезни2483 своей взыскал1875 не Господа,3068 а врачей.7495

13 И почил7901 Аса609 с отцами1 своими, и умер4191 на сорок705 первом259 году8141 царствования4427 своего.

13 And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the forty-first year of his reign.
