Chapter 12

1 AND Samuel said to all Israel, Behold, I have hearkened to your voice in all that you said to me, and have made a king over you.

2 And now, behold, the king is before you; and I am old and gray-headed; and, behold, my sons are with you; and I have walked before you from my childhood to this day.

3 Behold, I am standing before you; testify against me before the LORD and before his anointed; whose ox have I taken? Or whose ass have I taken? Or whom have I defrauded? Or whom have I oppressed? Or of whose hand have I taken a bribe to look upon him with favor? Tell me, and I will restore it to you.

4 And they said to him, You have not defrauded us nor oppressed us, neither have you taken anything from any one of us.

5 And he said to them, The LORD is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that you have not found anything wrong with me. And they said, He is witness.

6 And Samuel said to the people, The LORD is the only God, who advanced Moses and Aaron and who brought your fathers up out of the land of Egypt.

7 Now therefore stand still that I may judge you before the LORD in all his righteous acts which he did to you and to your fathers.

8 When Jacob went into Egypt and your fathers prayed before the LORD, then the LORD sent Moses and Aaron, who brought your fathers out of the land of Egypt and made them dwell in this place.

9 And when they forgot the LORD their God, he delivered them into the hand of Sisera, general of the army of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against them.

10 And they prayed before the LORD, and said, We have sinned, because we have forsaken the LORD our God and have served Baal and Ashtaroth; but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies and we will serve thee.

11 And the LORD sent Deborah and Barak and Gideon and Jephthah and Samson, and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies round about you, and you dwelt in safety.

12 And when you saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, you said to me, No; but a king shall reign over us; yet the LORD your God was your king.

13 Now therefore behold the king whom you have chosen, and whom you have requested! And, behold, the LORD has given you a king.

14 If you will fear the LORD and serve him and obey his voice and not provoke him, then shall both you and also the king who reigns over you continue following the LORD your God.

15 But if you will not obey the voice of the LORD your God, but provoke him, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you as it was against your fathers.

16 Now therefore be ready, and see this great thing which the LORD will do for you.

17 Behold, it is wheat harvest today; I will call to the LORD, and he shall send thunder and rain; and you shall know and see that your wickedness is great, in that you have asked for yourselves a king.

18 Then Samuel called to the LORD; and the LORD sent thunder and rain on that place; and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.

19 And all the people said to Samuel. Pray for your servants before the LORD your God, that we may not die; for we have added to all our sins a great evil, in that we have asked for ourselves a king.

20 And Samuel said to the people, Fear not; you have done all this wickedness; yet do not turn aside from following the LORD, but serve him with all your heart;

21 And do not turn aside after vain things which cannot deliver you; that you may not die, for they are vain things.

22 For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name's sake; because he is pleased to make you his people.

23 Moreover as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way;

24 Only revere the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart and with all your soul; for consider what great things he has done for you.

25 But if you shall continue to do wickedly, you shall die, both you and your king.

3 вот я; свидетельствуйте6030 на меня пред Господом3068 и пред помазанником4899 Его, у кого взял3947 я вола,7794 у кого взял3947 осла,2543 кого обидел6231 и кого притеснил,7533 у кого взял дар3724 и закрыл5956 в деле его глаза5869 мои, — и я возвращу7725 вам.

4 И отвечали:559 ты не обижал6231 нас и не притеснял7533 нас и ничего3972 ни у кого не взял.3947

5 И сказал559 он им: свидетель5707 на вас Господь,3068 и свидетель5707 помазанник4899 Его в сей день,3117 что вы не нашли4672 ничего3972 за мною. И сказали:559 свидетель.5707

6 Тогда Самуил8050 сказал559 народу:5971 свидетель Господь,3068 Который поставил6213 Моисея4872 и Аарона175 и Который вывел5927 отцов1 ваших из земли776 Египетской.4714

7 Теперь же предстаньте,3320 и я буду судиться8199 с вами пред3942 Господом3068 о всех благодеяниях,6666 которые оказал6213 Он вам и отцам1 вашим.

8 Когда пришел935 Иаков3290 в Египет,4714 и отцы1 ваши возопили2199 к Господу,3068 то Господь3068 послал7971 Моисея4872 и Аарона,175 и они вывели3318 отцов1 ваших из Египта4714 и поселили3427 их на месте4725 сем.

9 Но они забыли7911 Господа3068 Бога430 своего, и Он предал4376 их в руки3027 Сисары,5516 военачальника82696635 Асорского,2674 и в руки3027 Филистимлян6430 и в руки3027 царя4428 Моавитского,4124 которые воевали3898 против них.

10 Но когда они возопили2199 к Господу3068 и сказали:559 «согрешили2398 мы, ибо оставили5800 Господа3068 и стали5647 служить5647 Ваалам1168 и Астартам,6252 теперь избавь5337 нас от руки3027 врагов341 наших, и мы будем5647 служить5647 Тебе»,

11 тогда Господь3068 послал7971 Иероваала,3378 и Варака,917 и Иеффая,3316 и Самуила,8050 и избавил5337 вас от руки3027 врагов341 ваших, окружавших5439 вас, и вы жили3427 безопасно.983

12 Но увидев,7200 что Наас,5176 царь4428 Аммонитский,11215983 идет935 против вас, вы сказали559 мне: «нет, царь4428 пусть царствует4427 над нами», тогда как Господь3068 Бог430 ваш — Царь4428 ваш.

13 Итак, вот царь,4428 которого вы избрали,977 которого вы требовали:7592 вот, Господь3068 поставил5414 над вами царя.4428

14 Если будете3372 бояться3372 Господа3068 и служить5647 Ему и слушать8085 гласа6963 Его, и не станете4784 противиться4784 повелениям6310 Господа,3068 и будете и вы и царь4428 ваш, который царствует4427 над вами, ходить вслед310 Господа,3068 Бога430 вашего.

15 А если не будете8085 слушать8085 гласа6963 Господа3068 и станете4784 противиться4784 повелениям6310 Господа,3068 то рука3027 Господа3068 будет против вас, как была против отцов1 ваших.

16 Теперь1571 станьте3320 и посмотрите7200 на дело1697 великое,1419 которое Господь3068 совершит6213 пред глазами5869 вашими:

17 не жатва7105 ли пшеницы2406 ныне?3117 Но я воззову7121 к Господу,3068 и пошлет5414 Он гром6963 и дождь,4306 и вы узнаете3045 и увидите,7200 как велик7227 грех,7451 который вы сделали6213 пред очами5869 Господа,3068 прося7592 себе царя.4428

18 И воззвал7121 Самуил8050 к Господу,3068 и Господь3068 послал5414 гром6963 и дождь4306 в тот день;3117 и пришел3372 весь народ5971 в3372 большой3966 страх3372 от Господа3068 и Самуила.8050

19 И сказал559 весь народ5971 Самуилу:8050 помолись6419 о рабах5650 твоих пред Господом3068 Богом430 твоим, чтобы не умереть4191 нам; ибо ко всем грехам2403 нашим мы прибавили3254 еще грех,7451 когда просили7592 себе царя.4428

20 И отвечал559 Самуил8050 народу:5971 не бойтесь,3372 грех7451 этот вами сделан,6213 но вы не отступайте5493 только от310 Господа3068 и служите5647 Господу3068 всем сердцем3824 вашим

21 и не обращайтесь5493 вслед310 ничтожных8414 богов, которые не принесут3276 пользы3276 и не избавят;5337 ибо они — ничто;8414

22 Господь3068 же не оставит5203 народа5971 Своего ради великого1419 имени8034 Своего, ибо Господу3068 угодно2974 было избрать6213 вас народом5971 Своим;

1 AND Samuel said to all Israel, Behold, I have hearkened to your voice in all that you said to me, and have made a king over you.

3 Behold, I am standing before you; testify against me before the LORD and before his anointed; whose ox have I taken? Or whose ass have I taken? Or whom have I defrauded? Or whom have I oppressed? 4 And they said to him, You have not defrauded us nor oppressed us, neither have you taken anything from any one of us.

4 И отвечали:559 ты не обижал6231 нас и не притеснял7533 нас и ничего3972 ни у кого не взял.3947

5 And he said to them, The LORD is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that you have not found anything wrong with me. And they said, He is witness.

6 And Samuel said to the people, The LORD is the only God, who advanced Moses and Aaron and who brought your fathers up out of the land of Egypt.

7 Now therefore stand still that I may judge you before the LORD in all his righteous acts which he did to you and to your fathers.

8 When Jacob went into Egypt and your fathers prayed before the LORD, then the LORD sent Moses and Aaron, who brought your fathers out of the land of Egypt and made them dwell in this place.

8 Когда пришел935 Иаков3290 в Египет,4714 и отцы1 ваши возопили2199 к Господу,3068 то Господь3068 послал7971 Моисея4872 и Аарона,175 и они вывели3318 отцов1 ваших из Египта4714 и поселили3427 их на месте4725 сем.

10 And they prayed before the LORD, and said, We have sinned, because we have forsaken the LORD our God and have served Baal and Ashtaroth; but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies and we will serve thee.

12 Но увидев,7200 что Наас,5176 царь4428 Аммонитский,11215983 идет935 против вас, вы сказали559 мне: «нет, царь4428 пусть царствует4427 над нами», тогда как Господь3068 Бог430 ваш — Царь4428 ваш.

13 Now therefore behold the king whom you have chosen, and whom you have requested! And, behold, the LORD has given you a king.

13 Итак, вот царь,4428 которого вы избрали,977 которого вы требовали:7592 вот, Господь3068 поставил5414 над вами царя.4428

14 If you will fear the LORD and serve him and obey his voice and not provoke him, then shall both you and also the king who reigns over you continue following the LORD your God.

15 But if you will not obey the voice of the LORD your God, but provoke him, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you as it was against your fathers.

15 А если не будете8085 слушать8085 гласа6963 Господа3068 и станете4784 противиться4784 повелениям6310 Господа,3068 то рука3027 Господа3068 будет против вас, как была против отцов1 ваших.

16 Now therefore be ready, and see this great thing which the LORD will do for you.

16 Теперь1571 станьте3320 и посмотрите7200 на дело1697 великое,1419 которое Господь3068 совершит6213 пред глазами5869 вашими:

17 Behold, it is wheat harvest today; I will call to the LORD, and he shall send thunder and rain; and you shall know and see that your wickedness is great, in that you have asked for yourselves a king.

18 Then Samuel called to the LORD; and the LORD sent thunder and rain on that place; and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.

19 And all the people said to Samuel. Pray for your servants before the LORD your God, that we may not die; for we have added to all our sins a great evil, in that we have asked for ourselves a king.

20 And Samuel said to the people, Fear not; you have done all this wickedness; yet do not turn aside from following the LORD, but serve him with all your heart;

21 And do not turn aside after vain things which cannot deliver you; that you may not die, for they are vain things.

22 For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name's sake; because he is pleased to make you his people.
