Chapter 10

1 THEN Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head and kissed him, and said to him, Behold, the LORD has anointed you to be a ruler over his inheritance.

2 When you depart from me today, behold, you will find two men at Rachel's sepulchre in the territory of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say to you, The asses which you went to seek are found; and, lo, your father has ceased worrying about the asses, and is concerned about you, saying, What shall I do for my son?

3 Then when you shall go on from there and you shall come to the oak of Tabor, behold, you will find there three men going up to God to Beth-el, one carrying three kids and another carrying three loaves of bread and another carrying a skin of wine;

4 And they will salute you, and give you two loaves of bread, which you shall receive from their hands.

5 After that you shall come to the hill of God where there is a garrison of the Philistines; and it shall come to pass when you arrive there at the city, behold, you will meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with psalteries and tabrets and tambourines and timbrels before them; and they will be prophesying;

6 And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon you, and you shall prophesy with them, and you shall be changed into another man.

7 And it shall be when these signs are come to you, that you shall do whatever you wish, for the LORD is with you.

8 And you shall go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down to you to offer burnt offerings and to make sacrifices of peace offerings; seven days you shall wait, till I come to you, and show you what you shall do.

9 And it came to pass when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.

10 And when they came to Ramtha, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.

11 And it came to pass when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What is this that has come to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?

12 And a man of the same place answered and said, But who is his father? Therefore it became a byword, Is Saul also among the prophets?

13 And when he had finished prophesying, he left the high place, and came home.

14 And Saul's uncle said to him and to his servant, Where did you go? And they said, To seek the asses; and when we found them nowhere, we went to Samuel.

15 And Saul's uncle said to him, Tell me what Samuel said to you.

16 And Saul said to his uncle, He told us plainly that the asses were found. But of the matter of the kingdom of which Samuel had spoken, he did not tell him.

17 And Samuel called the people together before the LORD at Mizpeh;

18 And he said to the children of Israel, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt and later delivered you from the hand of the Philistines and from the hand of all the kingdoms that oppressed you;

19 But you have this day rejected your God, who himself saved you from all your calamities and your tribulations; and you have said, Not so, but set a king over us. Now therefore present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes and by your thousands.

20 And when Samuel had caused all the tribes of Israel to come near, the tribe of Benjamin was taken by lot.

21 Then when he caused the tribe of Benjamin to come near by their families, the family of Matri was taken by lot, and Saul the son of Kish was taken by lot. But when they sought him, he could not be found.

22 Therefore Samuel inquired further of the LORD, saying, Where is this man? And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, he has hidden himself among the baggage.

23 And they ran and brought him from there; and when he stood among the people, he was head and shoulders higher than any of the people.

24 And Samuel said to all the people, Now have you seen him whom the LORD has chosen, because there is none like him among all the people? And the people shouted and said, Long live the king!

25 Then Samuel told the people the law governing the king, and wrote it in a book and laid it before the LORD. And Samuel sent all the people away, and they went every man to his house.

26 And Saul also went to his house at Ramtha; and there went with him a band of men whose hearts God had touched.

27 But some of the wicked men said, How shall this man save us? And they despised him and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.

3 И пойдешь2498 оттуда далее1973 и придешь935 к дубраве436 Фаворской,8396 и встретят4672 тебя там три7969 человека,582 идущих5927 к Богу430 в Вефиль:1008 один259 несет5375 трех7969 козлят,1423 другой259 несет5375 три7969 хлеба,36033899 а третий259 несет5375 мех5035 с вином;3196

4 и будут7592 приветствовать7965 они тебя и дадут5414 тебе два8147 хлеба,3899 и ты возьмешь3947 из рук3027 их.

5 После310 того ты придешь935 на холм1389 Божий,430 где охранный5333 отряд5333 Филистимский;6430 и когда войдешь935 там в город,5892 встретишь6293 сонм2256 пророков,5030 сходящих3381 с высоты,1116 и пред3942 ними псалтирь5035 и тимпан,8596 и свирель2485 и гусли,3658 и они пророчествуют;5012

6 и найдет6743 на тебя Дух7307 Господень,3068 и ты будешь пророчествовать5012 с ними и сделаешься2015 иным312 человеком.376

7 Когда эти знамения226 сбудутся935 с тобою, тогда делай,6213 что может4672 рука3027 твоя, ибо с тобою Бог.430

8 И ты пойди3381 прежде3942 меня в Галгал,1537 куда и я приду3381 к тебе для принесения5927 всесожжений5930 и мирных8002 жертв;2077 семь7651 дней3117 жди,3176 доколе я не приду935 к тебе, и тогда укажу3045 тебе, что тебе делать.6213

9 Как скоро Саул обратился,64377926 чтоб идти3212 от Самуила,8050 Бог430 дал2015 ему иное312 сердце,3820 и сбылись935 все те знамения226 в тот же день.3117

10 Когда пришли935 они к холму,1389 вот встречается7125 им сонм2256 пророков,5030 и сошел6743 на него Дух7307 Божий,430 и он пророчествовал5012 среди8432 них.

11 Все знавшие3045 его вчера865 и третьего8032 дня,80328032 увидев,7200 что он с пророками5030 пророчествует,5012 говорили559 в народе5971 друг376 другу:7453 что это сталось с сыном1121 Кисовым?7027 неужели и Саул7586 во пророках?5030

12 И отвечал6030 один376 из бывших там и сказал:559 а у тех кто отец?1 Посему вошло в пословицу:4912 «неужели и Саул7586 во пророках?5030»

14 И сказал559 дядя1730 Саулов7586 ему и слуге5288 его: куда575 вы ходили?1980 Он сказал:559 искать1245 ослиц,860 но, видя,7200 что их нет,369 зашли935 к Самуилу.8050

20 И велел7126 Самуил8050 подходить7126 всем коленам7626 Израилевым,3478 и указано3920 колено7626 Вениаминово.1144

21 И велел7126 подходить7126 колену7626 Вениаминову1144 по племенам4940 его, и указано3920 племя4940 Матриево;4309 и приводят племя Матриево по мужам, и назван3920 Саул,7586 сын1121 Кисов;7027 и искали1245 его, и не находили.4672

22 И вопросили7592 еще Господа:3068 придет935 ли еще он376 сюда?1988 И сказал559 Господь:3068 вот он скрывается2244 в обозе.3627

23 И побежали7323 и взяли3947 его оттуда, и он стал3320 среди8432 народа5971 и был1361 от4605 плеч7926 своих выше1361 всего народа.5971

24 И сказал559 Самуил8050 всему народу:5971 видите7200 ли, кого избрал977 Господь?3068 подобного ему нет во всем народе.5971 Тогда весь народ5971 воскликнул7321 и сказал:559 да живет2421 царь!4428

25 И изложил1696 Самуил8050 народу5971 права4941 царства,4410 и написал3789 в книгу,5612 и положил3240 пред3942 Господом.3068 И отпустил7971 весь народ,5971 каждого376 в дом1004 свой.

26 Также и Саул7586 пошел1980 в дом1004 свой, в Гиву;1390 и пошли3212 с ним храбрые,2428 которых сердца3820 коснулся5060 Бог.430

27 А негодные11211100 люди говорили:559 ему ли спасать3467 нас? И презрели959 его и не поднесли935 ему даров;4503 но он как бы не2790 замечал2790 того.

21 Then when he caused the tribe of Benjamin to come near by their families, the family of Matri was taken by lot, and Saul the son of Kish was taken by lot. But when they sought him, he could not be found.

21 И велел7126 подходить7126 колену7626 Вениаминову1144 по племенам4940 его, и указано3920 племя4940 Матриево;4309 и приводят племя Матриево по мужам, и назван3920 Саул,7586 сын1121 Кисов;7027 и искали1245 его, и не находили.4672

22 Therefore Samuel inquired further of the LORD, saying, Where is this man? And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, he has hidden himself among the baggage.

25 Then Samuel told the people the law governing the king, and wrote it in a book and laid it before the LORD. And Samuel sent all the people away, and they went every man to his house.

26 And Saul also went to his house at Ramtha; and there went with him a band of men whose hearts God had touched.

27 But some of the wicked men said, How shall this man save us? And they despised him and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.
