Chapter 5

1 THUS all the work that Solomon made for the house of the LORD was finished; and Solomon brought in all the things which David his father had dedicated; and the silver and the gold and all the vessels he put in the treasures of the house of the LORD.

2 Then Solomon assembled at Jerusalem all the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the chiefs of the fathers of the children of Israel, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the city of David, which is Zion.

3 Wherefore all the men of Israel assembled themselves to King Solomon at Jerusalem in the feast of tabernacles, which is in the seventh month.

4 And all the elders of Israel came; and the priests took up the ark.

5 And they brought up the ark of the LORD and the tabernacle of the congregation and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, these did the priests and the Levites bring up.

6 And King Solomon and all the people of Israel that were assembled to him before the ark sacrificed sheep and oxen which could not be counted nor numbered for multitude.

7 Then the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and put it in its place, into the most holy place under the wings of the cherubim:

8 For the cherubim spread forth their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and the poles thereof above.

9 And the poles were so long that the ends of the poles were seen from underneath the ark within the house, but they were not seen from the outside. And there they remain to this day.

10 There was nothing in the ark except the two stone tablets which Moses had put there, which he brought from mount Sinai. This is the same covenant which the LORD made with the children of Israel when they came out of the land of Egypt.

11 And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place (for all the priests who were present there entered into the holy place;

12 Also the Levites, who were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeruthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets):

13 That the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endures for ever; that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD,

14 So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud; for the house of the LORD was filled with the brightness of his glory.

2 Da versammelte6950 Salomo8010 alle Ältesten2205 in Israel3478, alle Hauptleute der Stämme4294, Fürsten7218 der Väter1 unter den Kindern1121 Israel3478 gen Jerusalem3389, daß sie die Lade727 des Bundes1285 des HErrn3068 hinaufbrächten5927 aus der Stadt5892 Davids1732, das ist, Zion6726.

3 Und376 es versammelten sich6950 zum Könige4428 alle Männer Israels3478 aufs Fest2282, das ist, im siebenten7637 Monden2320.

4 Und kamen935 alle Ältesten2205 Israels3478. Und die Leviten3881 huben die Lade727 auf5375

5 und3548 brachten sie727 hinauf5927 samt der Hütte168 des Stifts4150 und allem heiligen6944 Geräte3627, das in der Hütte168 war; und brachten sie mit hinauf5927 die Priester, die Leviten3881.

6 Aber der König4428 Salomo8010 und2076 die ganze Gemeine Israel3478, zu ihm versammelt3259 vor6440 der Lade727, opferten Schafe6629 und7230 Ochsen1241, soviel, daß niemand zählen5608 noch rechnen konnte4487.

7 Also brachten935 die Priester3548 die Lade727 des Bundes1285 des HErrn3068 an ihre Stätte4725, den Chor1687 des Hauses1004, in das Allerheiligste6944 unter die Flügel3671 der Cherubim3742,

8 daß die Cherubim3742 ihre Flügel3671 ausbreiteten6566 über4605 die Stätte4725 der Lade727; und die Cherubim3742 bedeckten3680 die Lade727 und ihre Stangen905 von oben her.

9 Die Stangen905 aber waren so lang748, daß man ihre Knäufe7218 sah7200 von der Lade727 vor2351 dem Chor1687; aber außen sah7200 man sie905 nicht. Und sie war daselbst bis auf6440 diesen Tag3117.

10 Und war nichts in der Lade727, ohne die zwo Tafeln3871, die Mose4872 in Horeb2722 drein getan5414 hatte, da der HErr3068 einen Bund machte3772 mit den Kindern1121 Israel3478, da sie8147 aus3318 Ägypten4714 zogen.

11 Und3548 da die6942 Priester3548 herausgingen aus3318 dem Heiligen6944 (denn alle Priester, die vorhanden waren, heiligten sich, daß auch die Ordnungen4256 nicht gehalten8104 wurden4672),

12 und5975 die Leviten3881 mit allen, die unter Assaph, Heman1968, Jedithun3038 und3548 ihren Kindern1121 und Brüdern251 waren, angezogen3847 mit Leinwand948, sangen7891 mit Zimbeln4700, Psaltern5035 und Harfen3658 und stunden gegen4217 Morgen des Altars4196, und bei ihnen hundertundzwanzig3967 Priester, die mit Trommeten bliesen2690.

13 Und4390 es1004 war2896, als wäre es einer259, der trommetete und sänge7891, als hörete man eine259 Stimme6963, zu8085 loben1984 und zu danken3034 dem HErrn3068. Und da die Stimme6963 sich erhub von den Trommeten, Zimbeln4700 und andern Saitenspielen3627 und von dem Loben1984 des HErrn3068, daß er gütig ist7311 und seine Barmherzigkeit2617 ewig5769 währet, da ward das Haus1004 des HErrn3068 erfüllet mit einer Wolke6051,

14 daß die Priester3548 nicht stehen5975 konnten3201, zu dienen8334, vor6440 der Wolke6051; denn die Herrlichkeit3519 des HErrn3068 erfüllete das Haus1004 Gottes430.

3 Wherefore all the men of Israel assembled themselves to King Solomon at Jerusalem in the feast of tabernacles, which is in the seventh month.
