Chapter 4

1 Now there cried6817 a certain259 woman802 of the wives802 of the sons1121 of the prophets5030 to Elisha,477 saying,559 Your servant5650 my husband376 is dead;4191 and you know3045 that your servant5650 did fear3373 the LORD:3068 and the creditor5383 is come935 to take3947 to him my two8147 sons3206 to be slaves.5650

2 And Elisha477 said559 to her, What4100 shall I do6213 for you? tell5046 me, what4100 have3426 you in the house?1004 And she said,559 Your handmaid8198 has not any3605 thing in the house,1004 save3588 518 a pot610 of oil.8081

3 Then he said,559 Go,3212 borrow7592 you vessels3627 abroad2351 of all3605 your neighbors,7934 even empty7385 vessels;3627 borrow not a few.4591

4 And when you are come935 in, you shall shut5462 the door1817 on you and on your sons,1121 and shall pour3332 out into5921 all3605 those428 vessels,3627 and you shall set5265 aside5265 that which is full.4392

5 So she went3212 from him, and shut5462 the door1817 on her and on her sons,1121 who1992 brought5066 the vessels to her; and she poured3332 out.

6 And it came1961 to pass, when the vessels3627 were full,4390 that she said559 to her son,1121 Bring5066 me yet a vessel.3627 And he said559 to her, There is not a vessel3627 more.5750 And the oil8081 stayed.5975

7 Then she came935 and told5046 the man376 of God.430 And he said,559 Go,3212 sell4376 the oil,8081 and pay7999 your debt,5386 and live2421 you and your children1121 of the rest.3498

8 And it fell1961 on a day,3117 that Elisha477 passed5674 to Shunem,7766 where8033 was a great1419 woman;802 and she constrained2388 him to eat398 bread.3899 And so it was, that as oft1767 as he passed5674 by, he turned5493 in thither8033 to eat398 bread.3899

9 And she said559 to her husband,376 Behold2009 now,4994 I perceive3045 that this1931 is an holy6918 man376 of God,430 which passes5674 by us continually.8548

10 Let us make6213 a little6996 chamber,5944 I pray4994 you, on the wall;7023 and let us set7760 for him there8033 a bed,4296 and a table,7979 and a stool,3678 and a candlestick:4501 and it shall be, when he comes935 to us, that he shall turn5493 in thither.8033

11 And it fell1961 on a day,3117 that he came935 thither,8033 and he turned5493 into413 the chamber,5944 and lay7901 there.8033

12 And he said559 to Gehazi1522 his servant,5288 Call7121 this2063 Shunammite.7767 And when he had called7121 her, she stood5975 before6440 him.

13 And he said559 to him, Say559 now4994 to her, Behold,2009 you have been careful2729 for us with all3605 this2063 care;2731 what4100 is to be done6213 for you? would3426 you be spoken1696 for to the king,4428 or176 to the captain8269 of the host?6635 And she answered,559 I dwell3427 among8432 my own people.5971

14 And he said,559 What4100 then is to be done6213 for her? And Gehazi1522 answered,559 Truly61 she has no369 child,1121 and her husband376 is old.2204

15 And he said,559 Call7121 her. And when he had called7121 her, she stood5975 in the door.6607

16 And he said,559 About this2088 season,4150 according to the time6256 of life,2416 you shall embrace2263 a son.1121 And she said,559 No,408 my lord,113 you man376 of God,430 do not lie3576 to your handmaid.8198

17 And the woman802 conceived,2029 and bore3205 a son1121 at that season4150 that Elisha477 had said1696 to her, according to the time6256 of life.2416

18 And when the child3206 was grown,1431 it fell1961 on a day,3117 that he went3318 out to his father1 to the reapers.7114

19 And he said559 to his father,1 My head,7218 my head.7218 And he said559 to a lad,5288 Carry5375 him to his mother.517

20 And when he had taken5375 him, and brought935 him to his mother,517 he sat3427 on5921 her knees1290 till5704 noon,6672 and then died.4191

21 And she went5927 up, and laid7901 him on5921 the bed4296 of the man376 of God,430 and shut5462 the door on him, and went3318 out.

22 And she called7121 to her husband,376 and said,559 Send7971 me, I pray4994 you, one259 of the young5288 men, and one259 of the asses,860 that I may run7323 to the man376 of God,430 and come7725 again.7725

23 And he said,559 Why4069 will you go1980 to him to day?3117 it is neither3808 new2320 moon,2320 nor3808 sabbath.7676 And she said,559 It shall be well.7965

24 Then she saddled2280 an ass,860 and said559 to her servant,5288 Drive,5090 and go3212 forward; slack6113 not your riding7392 for me, except3588 518 I bid559 you.

25 So she went3212 and came935 to the man376 of God430 to mount2022 Carmel.3760 And it came1961 to pass, when the man376 of God430 saw7200 her afar5048 off, that he said559 to Gehazi1522 his servant,5288 Behold,2009 yonder is that Shunammite:7767

26 Run7323 now,6258 I pray4994 you, to meet7125 her, and say559 to her, Is it well7965 with you? is it well7965 with your husband?376 is it well7965 with the child?3206 And she answered,559 It is well:7965

27 And when she came935 to the man376 of God430 to the hill,2022 she caught2388 him by the feet:7272 but Gehazi1522 came5066 near5066 to thrust1920 her away. And the man376 of God430 said,559 Let her alone;7503 for her soul5315 is vexed4843 within her: and the LORD3068 has hid5956 it from me, and has not told5046 me.

28 Then she said,559 Did I desire7592 a son1121 of my lord?113 did I not say,559 Do not deceive7952 me?

29 Then he said559 to Gehazi,1522 Gird2296 up your loins,4975 and take3947 my staff4938 in your hand,3027 and go3212 your way: if3588 you meet4672 any man,376 salute1288 him not; and if3588 any376 salute1288 you, answer6030 him not again: and lay7760 my staff4938 on the face6440 of the child.5288

30 And the mother517 of the child5288 said,559 As the LORD3068 lives,2416 and as your soul5315 lives,2416 I will not leave5800 you. And he arose,6965 and followed3112 310 her.

31 And Gehazi1522 passed5674 on before6440 them, and laid7760 the staff4938 on the face6440 of the child;5288 but there was neither369 voice,6963 nor369 hearing.7182 Why he went7725 again7725 to meet7125 him, and told5046 him, saying,559 The child5288 is not awaked.6974

32 And when Elisha477 was come935 into the house,1004 behold,2009 the child5288 was dead,4191 and laid7901 on his bed.4296

33 He went935 in therefore, and shut5462 the door1817 on them two,8147 and prayed6419 to the LORD.3068

34 And he went5927 up, and lay7901 on the child,3206 and put7760 his mouth6310 on his mouth,6310 and his eyes5869 on his eyes,5869 and his hands3709 on his hands:3709 and stretched1457 himself on the child; and the flesh1320 of the child3206 waxed warm.2552

35 Then he returned,7725 and walked3212 in the house1004 to and fro;259 2008 and went5927 up, and stretched1457 himself on him: and the child5288 sneezed2237 seven7651 times,6471 and the child5288 opened6491 his eyes.5869

36 And he called7121 Gehazi,1522 and said,559 Call7121 this2063 Shunammite.7767 So he called7121 her. And when she was come935 in to him, he said,559 Take5375 up your son.1121

37 Then she went935 in, and fell5307 at5921 his feet,7272 and bowed7812 herself to the ground,776 and took5375 up her son,1121 and went3318 out.

38 And Elisha477 came7725 again7725 to Gilgal:1537 and there was a dearth7458 in the land;776 and the sons1121 of the prophets5030 were sitting3427 before6440 him: and he said559 to his servant,5288 Set8239 on the great1419 pot,5518 and seethe1310 pottage5138 for the sons1121 of the prophets.5030

39 And one259 went3318 out into413 the field7704 to gather3950 herbs,219 and found4672 a wild7704 vine,1612 and gathered3950 thereof wild7704 gourds6498 his lap899 full,4393 and came935 and shred6398 them into413 the pot5518 of pottage:5138 for they knew3045 them not.

40 So they poured3332 out for the men582 to eat.398 And it came1961 to pass, as they were eating398 of the pottage,5138 that they cried6817 out, and said,559 O you man376 of God,430 there is death4194 in the pot.5518 And they could3201 not eat398 thereof.

41 But he said,559 Then bring3947 meal.7058 And he cast7993 it into413 the pot;5518 and he said,559 Pour3332 out for the people,5971 that they may eat.398 And there was no3808 harm1697 7451 in the pot.5518

42 And there came935 a man376 from Baalshalisha,1190 and brought935 the man376 of God430 bread3899 of the first fruits,1061 twenty6242 loaves3899 of barley,8184 and full ears3759 of corn3759 in the husk6861 thereof. And he said,559 Give5414 to the people,5971 that they may eat.398

43 And his servitor8334 said,559 What,4100 should I set5414 this2088 before6440 an hundred3967 men?376 He said559 again, Give5414 the people,5971 that they may eat:398 for thus3541 said559 the LORD,3068 They shall eat,398 and shall leave3498 thereof.

44 So he set5414 it before6440 them, and they did eat,398 and left3498 thereof, according to the word1697 of the LORD.3068

6 Она наполнила много сосудов. Наконец она сказала сыну: «Подай мне другой сосуд». Но все сосуды были наполнены, и сын сказал ей: «Нет больше сосудов». Тогда масло перестало литься.

7 Женщина пошла к Божьему человеку и рассказала ему обо всём. Услышав её рассказ, Елисей сказал ей: «Пойди и продай масло, а затем заплати свои долги. А ты и твои сыновья будете жить на деньги, которые останутся».

17 Но женщина действительно забеременела, и весной она родила сына, как обещал ей Елисей.

18 Мальчик подрос. Однажды он пошёл в поле к отцу, который работал со жнецами.

19 Мальчик сказал отцу: «Моя голова! У меня болит голова!» Тогда он сказал своему слуге: «Отнеси его к матери».

27 Когда же сонамитянка поднялась на холм к Божьему человеку, то ухватилась за его ноги. Гиезий подошёл, чтобы оттолкнуть её, но Божий человек сказал ему: «Оставь её в покое! Она очень огорчена, но Господь не сказал мне об этом. Господь скрыл это от меня».

28 И воскликнула сонамитянка: «Господин мой, я не просила у тебя сына. Я говорила тебе: „Не обманывай меня!”»

29 Тогда Елисей сказал Гиезию: «Соберись в дорогу. Возьми мой посох и иди. Не останавливайся и ни с кем не разговаривай. Если ты встретишь кого-либо, то даже не здоровайся. Если же кто поздоровается с тобой, не отвечай. Когда придёшь в её дом, положи мой посох на лицо ребёнка».

30 Но мать ребёнка сказала: «Так же верно, как то, что Господь жив и ты жив, я не уйду без тебя!» Тогда Елисей встал и пошёл за сонамитянкой.

31 Гиезий пришёл в дом раньше Елисея и женщины. Он положил посох на лицо мальчика, но ребёнок не говорил и не подавал никаких признаков жизни. Тогда Гиезий вышел навстречу Елисею и сказал ему: «Ребёнок не просыпается!»

32 Елисей зашёл в дом. Там на его постели лежал умерший ребёнок.

33 Войдя в комнату, Елисей закрыл дверь. В комнате находился только он и мальчик.

34 и, подойдя к постели, склонился над ребёнком, приложил свои ладони к его ладоням, пристально посмотрел ему в глаза и подышал ему в лицо. Елисей склонился над ребёнком, и тело мальчика согрелось.

35 Елисей встал и прошёлся по комнате взад и вперёд. Затем он подошёл к постели и снова склонился над ребёнком. Тогда ребёнок чихнул семь раз и открыл глаза.

36 Елисей позвал Гиезия и сказал: «Позови сонамитянку». Гиезий позвал её. Когда она пришла, Елисей сказал: «Возьми своего сына».

37 Женщина вошла, упала ему в ноги и поклонилась ему до земли. Затем она взяла своего сына и вышла.

39 Один из них пошёл в поле собирать овощи. Он нашёл дикое вьющееся растение, собрал с него плоды и положил их в свою одежду. Вернувшись, он накрошил эти дикие плоды и положил их в котёл с супом. Никто из пророков не знал, какие это были плоды.

40 Затем они налили людям немного супа, но, как только они начали есть, все закричали: «Божий человек, здесь яд в котле!» Поэтому они не могли есть.

41 Но Елисей сказал: «Принесите немного муки». Он насыпал её в котёл и сказал: «Подай пророкам суп, чтобы они могли его есть». И не стало в супе ничего вредного.

42 Один человек из Ваалшалиши пришёл и принёс Божьему человеку хлеб от первого урожая. У него сумке было двадцать булок ячменного хлеба и свежая пшеница. Тогда Елисей приказал: «Отдай это людям, пусть едят».

43 Слуга Елисея возразил: «Здесь недостаточно еды для ста человек». Но Елисей ответил: «Отдай эту еду людям. Пусть едят. Господь говорит: „Они насытятся и ещё останется”».

44 Тогда слуга Елисея поставил еду перед пророками. Они наелись вдоволь, и ещё осталось. Всё произошло именно так, как предрёк Господь.

21 And she went5927 up, and laid7901 him on5921 the bed4296 of the man376 of God,430 and shut5462 the door on him, and went3318 out.

22 And she called7121 to her husband,376 and said,559 Send7971 me, I pray4994 you, one259 of the young5288 men, and one259 of the asses,860 that I may run7323 to the man376 of God,430 and come7725 again.7725

23 Её муж сказал: «Зачем тебе сегодня ехать к Божьему человеку? Сегодня же не праздник Новолуния и не суббота». Она сказала: «Не волнуйся. Всё будет хорошо».

24 Then she saddled2280 an ass,860 and said559 to her servant,5288 Drive,5090 and go3212 forward; slack6113 not your riding7392 for me, except3588 518 I bid559 you.

25 So she went3212 and came935 to the man376 of God430 to mount2022 Carmel.3760 And it came1961 to pass, when the man376 of God430 saw7200 her afar5048 off, that he said559 to Gehazi1522 his servant,5288 Behold,2009 yonder is that Shunammite:7767

25 Женщина отправилась к Божьему человеку, к горе Кармел. Божий человек издалека увидел приближающуюся женщину. Он сказал своему слуге Гиезию: «Смотри, это сонамитянка!

26 Run7323 now,6258 I pray4994 you, to meet7125 her, and say559 to her, Is it well7965 with you? is it well7965 with your husband?376 is it well7965 with the child?3206 And she answered,559 It is well:7965

26 Беги ей навстречу и спроси: „Здорова ли ты? Здоров ли твой муж? Здоров ли твой ребёнок?”» Гиезий спросил её, и она ответила: «Всё хорошо».

27 And when she came935 to the man376 of God430 to the hill,2022 she caught2388 him by the feet:7272 but Gehazi1522 came5066 near5066 to thrust1920 her away. And the man376 of God430 said,559 Let her alone;7503 for her soul5315 is vexed4843 within her: and the LORD3068 has hid5956 it from me, and has not told5046 me.

27 Когда же сонамитянка поднялась на холм к Божьему человеку, то ухватилась за его ноги. Гиезий подошёл, чтобы оттолкнуть её, но Божий человек сказал ему: «Оставь её в покое! Она очень огорчена, но Господь не сказал мне об этом. Господь скрыл это от меня».

28 Then she said,559 Did I desire7592 a son1121 of my lord?113 did I not say,559 Do not deceive7952 me?

28 И воскликнула сонамитянка: «Господин мой, я не просила у тебя сына. Я говорила тебе: „Не обманывай меня!”»

29 Then he said559 to Gehazi,1522 Gird2296 up your loins,4975 and take3947 my staff4938 in your hand,3027 and go3212 your way: if3588 you meet4672 any man,376 salute1288 him not; and if3588 any376 salute1288 you, answer6030 him not again: and lay7760 my staff4938 on the face6440 of the child.5288

29 Тогда Елисей сказал Гиезию: «Соберись в дорогу. Возьми мой посох и иди. Не останавливайся и ни с кем не разговаривай. Если ты встретишь кого-либо, то даже не здоровайся. Если же кто поздоровается с тобой, не отвечай. Когда придёшь в её дом, положи мой посох на лицо ребёнка».

30 And the mother517 of the child5288 said,559 As the LORD3068 lives,2416 and as your soul5315 lives,2416 I will not leave5800 you. And he arose,6965 and followed3112 310 her.

30 Но мать ребёнка сказала: «Так же верно, как то, что Господь жив и ты жив, я не уйду без тебя!» Тогда Елисей встал и пошёл за сонамитянкой.

31 And Gehazi1522 passed5674 on before6440 them, and laid7760 the staff4938 on the face6440 of the child;5288 but there was neither369 voice,6963 nor369 hearing.7182 Why he went7725 again7725 to meet7125 him, and told5046 him, saying,559 The child5288 is not awaked.6974

31 Гиезий пришёл в дом раньше Елисея и женщины. Он положил посох на лицо мальчика, но ребёнок не говорил и не подавал никаких признаков жизни. Тогда Гиезий вышел навстречу Елисею и сказал ему: «Ребёнок не просыпается!»

32 And when Elisha477 was come935 into the house,1004 behold,2009 the child5288 was dead,4191 and laid7901 on his bed.4296

32 Елисей зашёл в дом. Там на его постели лежал умерший ребёнок.

33 He went935 in therefore, and shut5462 the door1817 on them two,8147 and prayed6419 to the LORD.3068

33 Войдя в комнату, Елисей закрыл дверь. В комнате находился только он и мальчик.

34 And he went5927 up, and lay7901 on the child,3206 and put7760 his mouth6310 on his mouth,6310 and his eyes5869 on his eyes,5869 and his hands3709 on his hands:3709 and stretched1457 himself on the child; and the flesh1320 of the child3206 waxed warm.2552

34 и, подойдя к постели, склонился над ребёнком, приложил свои ладони к его ладоням, пристально посмотрел ему в глаза и подышал ему в лицо. Елисей склонился над ребёнком, и тело мальчика согрелось.

35 Then he returned,7725 and walked3212 in the house1004 to and fro;259 2008 and went5927 up, and stretched1457 himself on him: and the child5288 sneezed2237 seven7651 times,6471 and the child5288 opened6491 his eyes.5869

36 And he called7121 Gehazi,1522 and said,559 Call7121 this2063 Shunammite.7767 So he called7121 her. And when she was come935 in to him, he said,559 Take5375 up your son.1121

36 Елисей позвал Гиезия и сказал: «Позови сонамитянку». Гиезий позвал её. Когда она пришла, Елисей сказал: «Возьми своего сына».

37 Then she went935 in, and fell5307 at5921 his feet,7272 and bowed7812 herself to the ground,776 and took5375 up her son,1121 and went3318 out.

38 And Elisha477 came7725 again7725 to Gilgal:1537 and there was a dearth7458 in the land;776 and the sons1121 of the prophets5030 were sitting3427 before6440 him: and he said559 to his servant,5288 Set8239 on the great1419 pot,5518 and seethe1310 pottage5138 for the sons1121 of the prophets.5030

39 And one259 went3318 out into413 the field7704 to gather3950 herbs,219 and found4672 a wild7704 vine,1612 and gathered3950 thereof wild7704 gourds6498 his lap899 full,4393 and came935 and shred6398 them into413 the pot5518 of pottage:5138 for they knew3045 them not.

39 Один из них пошёл в поле собирать овощи. Он нашёл дикое вьющееся растение, собрал с него плоды и положил их в свою одежду. Вернувшись, он накрошил эти дикие плоды и положил их в котёл с супом. Никто из пророков не знал, какие это были плоды.

40 So they poured3332 out for the men582 to eat.398 And it came1961 to pass, as they were eating398 of the pottage,5138 that they cried6817 out, and said,559 O you man376 of God,430 there is death4194 in the pot.5518 And they could3201 not eat398 thereof.

41 But he said,559 Then bring3947 meal.7058 And he cast7993 it into413 the pot;5518 and he said,559 Pour3332 out for the people,5971 that they may eat.398 And there was no3808 harm1697 7451 in the pot.5518

42 And there came935 a man376 from Baalshalisha,1190 and brought935 the man376 of God430 bread3899 of the first fruits,1061 twenty6242 loaves3899 of barley,8184 and full ears3759 of corn3759 in the husk6861 thereof. And he said,559 Give5414 to the people,5971 that they may eat.398

42 Один человек из Ваалшалиши пришёл и принёс Божьему человеку хлеб от первого урожая. У него сумке было двадцать булок ячменного хлеба и свежая пшеница. Тогда Елисей приказал: «Отдай это людям, пусть едят».

43 And his servitor8334 said,559 What,4100 should I set5414 this2088 before6440 an hundred3967 men?376 He said559 again, Give5414 the people,5971 that they may eat:398 for thus3541 said559 the LORD,3068 They shall eat,398 and shall leave3498 thereof.

43 Слуга Елисея возразил: «Здесь недостаточно еды для ста человек». Но Елисей ответил: «Отдай эту еду людям. Пусть едят. Господь говорит: „Они насытятся и ещё останется”».

44 So he set5414 it before6440 them, and they did eat,398 and left3498 thereof, according to the word1697 of the LORD.3068

44 Тогда слуга Елисея поставил еду перед пророками. Они наелись вдоволь, и ещё осталось. Всё произошло именно так, как предрёк Господь.
