Das zweite Buch der Könige

Kapitel 12

1 Und Joas3060 war sieben7651 Jahre8141 alt1121, da er König4427 ward.

2 Im siebenten Jahr8141 Jehus3058 ward4427 Joas3060 König4427 und7651 regierete vierzig705 Jahre8141 zu Jerusalem3389. Seine Mutter517 hieß8034 Zibea von Bersaba.

3 Und3548 Joas3060 tat6213, was recht3477 war und dem HErrn3068 wohlgefiel, solange3117 ihn5869 der Priester Jojada3077 lehrete,

4 ohne daß sie5493 die Höhen1116 nicht abtaten; denn das Volk5971 opferte2076 und räucherte6999 noch auf den Höhen1116.

5 Und376 Joas3060 sprach559 zu den Priestern3548: Alles Geld3701, das geheiliget wird, daß es in das Haus1004 des HErrn3068 gebracht935 werde, das gang und3701 gäbe5674 ist6944, das Geld3701, so jedermann gibt in der Schätzung6187 seiner See LE5315, und376 alles Geld3701, das jedermann von freiem Herzen3820 opfert5927, daß es in des HErrn3068 Haus1004 gebracht935 werde,

6 das laßt die Priester3548 zu sich nehmen, einen jeglichen376 von seinem Bekannten4378. Davon sollen sie2388 bessern, was baufällig919 ist3947 am Hause1004 des HErrn, wo sie finden4672, das baufällig919 ist.

7 Da aber die Priester3548 bis ins dreiundzwanzigste Jahr8141 des Königs4428 Joas3060 nicht besserten2388, was baufällig919 war am Hause1004,

8 rief7121 der König4428 Joas3060 dem Priester Jojada3077 samt den Priestern3548 und3548 sprach559 zu ihnen: Warum bessert ihr2388 nicht, was baufällig919 ist3947 am Hause1004? So sollt ihr nun nicht zu euch nehmen das Geld3701, ein jeglicher von seinen Bekannten4378, sondern sollt es geben5414 zu dem, das baufällig919 ist am Hause1004.

9 Und3548 die Priester bewilligten vom Volk5971 nicht1115 Geld3701 zu nehmen3947 und das Baufällige919 am Hause1004 zu bessern2388.

10 Da nahm3947 der Priester Jojada3077 eine Lade727 und3548 bohrte5344 oben ein259 Loch2356 drein und376 setzte5414 sie8104 zur rechten Hand3225 neben681 den Altar4196, da man in935 das Haus1004 des HErrn3068 gehet. Und3548 die Priester, die an der Schwelle5592 hüteten, taten5414 drein alles Geld3701, das zu des HErrn3068 Haus1004 gebracht935 ward.

11 Wenn sie6696 dann sahen7200, daß viel Geld3701 in der Lade727 war4672, so kam des Königs4428 Schreiber5608 herauf5927 mit dem Hohenpriester1419 und3548 banden das Geld3701 zusammen und zählten4487 es, was für des HErrn3068 Haus1004 funden ward7227.

12 Und6213 man gab5414 das Geld3701 bar über6485 denen4399, die da arbeiteten und6086 bestellet waren6485 zum Hause1004 des HErrn3068; und1129 sie3027 gaben‘s heraus3318 den Zimmerleuten, die da baueten und6213 arbeiteten am Hause1004 des HErrn3068,

13 nämlich den Maurern1443 und68 Steinmetzen2672, und3068 die da Holz6086 und3318 gehauene4274 Steine68 kauften, daß das Baufällige919 am Hause1004 des HErrn7069 gebessert wurde, und alles, was sie2388 fanden am Hause1004 zu bessern2394 not sein.

14 Doch ließ man nicht machen6213 silberne3701 Schalen4219, Psalter, Becken5592, Trommeten noch irgend ein gülden oder silbern3701 Gerät3627 im Hause1004 des HErrn3068 von solchem Gelde, das zu des HErrn3068 Hause1004 gebracht935 ward,

15 sondern man6213 gab‘s5414 den Arbeitern, daß sie2388 damit das Baufällige am Hause1004 des HErrn3068 besserten.

16 Auch durften die Männer582 nicht berechnen, denen man6213 das Geld3701 tat5414, daß sie3027 es den Arbeitern4399 gäben, sondern sie5414 handelten auf Glauben530.

17 Aber das Geld3701 von Schuldopfern817 und3701 Sündopfern2403 ward nicht zum Hause1004 des HErrn3068 gebracht; denn es war935 der Priester3548.

18 Zu der Zeit zog5927 Hasael2371, der König4428 zu Syrien758, herauf5927 und7760 stritt3898 wider Gath1661 und gewann sie. Und da3920 Hasael2371 sein Angesicht6440 stellete, zu Jerusalem3389 hinaufzuziehen,

19 nahm3947 Joas3060, der König4428 Judas, all das Geheiligte6944, das seine Väter1, Josaphat, Joram3088 und3092 Ahasja274, die Könige4428 Judas, geheiliget hatten6942, und was er geheiliget hatte6944, dazu alles Gold2091, das man fand4672 im Schatz214 in des HErrn3068 Hause1004 und in des Königs4428 Hause1004, und schickte7971 es Hasael2371, dem Könige4428 zu Syrien758. Da zog5927 er ab von Jerusalem3389.

20 Was aber mehr von Joas3101 zu sagen ist3789, und3499 alles, was er getan6213 hat, das1697 ist geschrieben in der Chronik5612 der Könige4428 Judas.

21 Und seine Knechte5650 empörten sich6965 und machten einen Bund7194 und schlugen5221 ihn3101 im Hause1004 Millo4407, da man hinabgehet zu Silla5538.

22 Denn Josabar, der Sohn1121 Simeaths8100, und Josabad3075, der Sohn1121 Somers7763, seine Knechte5650, schlugen5221 ihn tot. Und man begrub6912 ihn mit seinen Vätern1 in der Stadt5892 Davids1732. Und Amazia, sein4191 Sohn1121, ward König4427 an seiner Statt.

Chapter 12

1 IN the seventh year of Jehu Joash began to reign; and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zobah of Beersheba.

2 And Joash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.

3 But the temples of idols were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.

4 And Joash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things which is brought into the house of the LORD, even the money which every man gives for the salvation of his soul, the money which every man thinks in his heart to bring into the house of the LORD,

5 Let the priests receive it, every man from him who has decided to give; and let them spend it for the repairing of the house, wherever a breach to be repaired shall be found in it.

6 But it was so, that even in the twenty-third year of King Joash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.

7 Then King Joash called for Jehoiada the priest and the other priests, and said to them, Why have you not repaired the breaches of the house? Now therefore you shall not receive money from those who give it to you, but deliver it for the repair of the house.

8 So the priests agreed not to receive any more money from the people, nor to repair the breaches of the house.

9 But Jehoiada the priest took a chest and bored a hole in the lid of it and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one comes into the house of the LORD; and the priests who kept the door put therein all the money that was brought into the house of the LORD.

10 And when they saw that there was much money in the chest, the king's scribe and the high priest came up, and they counted and bound in bags the money that was found in the house of the LORD.

11 And they gave the money tied in bags to those who did the work, who had the oversight of the house of the LORD; and they gave it to the carpenters and to the builders who worked upon the house of the LORD.

12 And to the masons and the stonecutters, and to buy timber and hewed stones for the repair of the breaches of the house of the LORD, and for all that was spent to repair the house.

13 But there were not made for the house of the LORD bowls of silver, snuffers, braziers for incense, trumpets or any vessels of gold or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into the house of the LORD;

14 But they gave that to the workmen, and repaired with it the house of the LORD.

15 Moreover they did not ask an accounting from the men to whom they delivered the money to give it to the workmen; for they dealt faithfully in paying out the repair money.

16 The money from the trespass offerings and the money from the sin offerings was not brought into the house of the LORD; it was the priests'.

17 Then Hazael king of Aram went up and fought against Gath and took it; and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.

18 And Joash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat and Joram and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the LORD and in the king's house, and sent it to Hazael king of Aram; and he went away from Jerusalem.

19 And the rest of the acts of Joash and all that he did, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah.

20 And the servants of Joash arose and made a conspiracy and slew Joash in the house of Millo, as he was going down to Silla.

21 It was Jozachar the son of Shimeath and Jehozabar the son of Shomer, his servants, who smote him so that he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David; and Amaziah his son reigned in his stead.
