Kapitel 16

1 Im sechsunddreißigsten Jahr8141 des Königreichs4438 Assas zog5927 herauf Baesa1201, der König4428 Israels3478, wider Juda3063 und5414 bauete Rama7414, daß1115 er1129 Assa, dem Könige4428 Judas, wehrete aus3318- und935 einzuziehen.

2 Aber Assa nahm aus3318 dem Schatz214 im Hause1004 des HErrn3068 und im Hause1004 des Königs4428 Silber3701 und Gold2091 und sandte zu Benhadad1130, dem Könige4428 zu Syrien758, der zu Damaskus1834 wohnete, und ließ7971 ihm sagen559:

3 Es ist6565 ein Bund1285 zwischen mir und dir, zwischen meinem und deinem Vater1; darum habe ich dir Silber3701 und Gold2091 gesandt7971, daß du den Bund1285 mit Baesa1201, dem Könige4428 Israels3478, fahren lassest, daß er1 von mir abziehe5927.

4 Benhadad1130 gehorchte8085 dem Könige4428 Assa und2428 sandte7971 seine Heerfürsten8269 wider die Städte5892 Israels3478; die schlugen5221 Ejon, Dan1835 und5892 Abel-Maim66 und alle Kornstädte4543 Naphthalis5321.

5 Da Baesa1201 das hörete, ließ er ab7673, Rama7414 zu8085 bauen1129, und hörete auf2308 von seinem Werk4399.

6 Aber der König4428 Assa nahm3947 zu sich das ganze Juda3063, und sie1129 trugen5375 die Steine68 und das Holz6086 von Rama7414, damit Baesa1201 bauete; und er1129 bauete damit Geba1387 und Mizpa4709.

7 Zu der Zeit6256 kam935 Hanani2607, der Seher, zu Assa, dem Könige4428 Judas, und sprach559 zu ihm: Daß du dich auf den König4428 zu Syrien758 verlassen8172 hast und hast dich nicht auf den HErrn3068, deinen GOtt430, verlassen8172, darum ist7200 die Macht2428 des Königs4428 zu Syrien758 deiner Hand3027 entronnen4422.

8 Waren nicht3966 die Mohren3569 und Libyer3864 eine große Menge7230, mit sehr2428 viel7235 Wagen7393 und Reitern6571? Doch gab5414 sie der HErr3068 in deine Hand3027, da du dich auf ihn verließest8172.

9 Denn des HErrn3068 Augen5869 schauen7751 alle Lande776, daß er stärke2388 die, so von ganzem8003 Herzen3824 an ihm sind. Du hast töricht5528 getan; darum wirst du auch von nun6258 an Krieg haben3426.

10 Aber Assa ward zornig3707 über den Seher7200 und1004 legte5414 ihn ins Gefängnis4115; denn er murrete mit ihm2197 über diesem Stück. Und Assa unterdrückte7533 etliche des Volks5971 zu der Zeit6256.

11 Die Geschichten1697 aber Assas, beide die ersten7223 und die letzten314, siehe, die sind3789 geschrieben im Buch5612 von den Königen4428 Judas und Israels3478.

12 Und Assa ward7495 krank2456 an4605 seinen Füßen7272 im neununddreißigsten8672 Jahr8141 seines Königreichs4438, und seine Krankheit2483 nahm sehr zu; und suchte1875 auch in seiner Krankheit2483 den HErrn3068 nicht, sondern die Ärzte.

13 Also entschlief7901 Assa mit seinen Vätern1 und starb4191 im einundvierzigsten259 Jahr8141 seines Königreichs4427.

14 Und4390 man begrub6912 ihn in seinem Grabe6913, das4639 er ihm hatte lassen graben3738 in der Stadt5892 Davids1732. Und8316 sie legten7901 ihn auf sein Lager4904, welches man gefüllet hatte mit gutem Räuchwerk und allerlei2177 Spezerei1314, nach Apothekerkunst gemacht7543, und machten ein sehr3966 groß1419 Brennen8313.

Chapter 16

1 IN the thirty-sixth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah and built Ramtha, that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

2 Then Asa brought silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of the LORD and of the king's house, and sent them to Bar-hadad king of Aram, who dwelt in Damascus, saying,

3 There is a league between me and you, as there was between my father and your father; behold, I have sent you silver and gold; go, break your league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may withdraw from me.

4 And Bar-hadad hearkened to King Asa, and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they came and encamped against the cities of Israel; and they took Ijon, Abel, and Beth-maacah, and all the store cities of Naphtali.

5 Then when Baasha heard of it, he stopped building Ramtha, and let his work cease.

6 Then Asa the king gathered together all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramtha and its timber with which Baasha was building; and King Asa built with them Ramtha of Benjamin and the town of Mizpah.

7 And at that time Hanan the prophet came to Asa king of Judah and said to him, Because you have relied on the king of Aram and not relied on the LORD your God, therefore the army of Aram will flee.

8 And they will go and become strong, both they and the Ethiopians and the kings that are with them, and will become great armies with very many chariots and horsemen, but when you seek the LORD your God, he will deliver them into your hands.

9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth; therefore, be strong, and let your heart be perfect towards his worship, and understand all his wonders; for the LORD your God will fight for you.

10 Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in prison because he reported things which he did not see and made the heart of the people tremble; therefore Asa kept himself aloof from the people at that time.

11 And, behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, lo, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.

12 And Asa was diseased in his feet in the thirty-ninth year of his reign, and was laid in his house.

13 And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the forty-first year of his reign.

14 And they buried him in his own sepulchre in the city of David, and they laid him on a bier which was filled with many kinds of spices, and they made a very great burnt offering for him.
